Filling up the lower Dan Tien- How and Why
BaguaKicksAss replied to thelerner's topic in Daoist Discussion
I find standing to be far better for this. My student too (and I had told him either way was good). Though personally my lower back gets achey if I stand still too long, so I cheat and do it sitting a lot. I also do it walking sometimes. Well what we do isn't quite MCO, but looks sort of similar. -

More like just watch, or know it's there, or direct via physical feel from all I have been taught by a few folks. -

YaMu, welcome to the Tech department's course in multiquoting! click the little multiquote button sitting to the left of the quote button for the first post you want to quote... then keep scrolling down and click the multiquote box again for the 2nd post you want to quote. You can keep doing this for up to about 10 posts or so . Then you just select the reply to "number of quotes" option... This is a secret technique that most of the board does not know. Enjoy! -

I keep hearing "it's a martial system", is this solely energy based? I've never seen mention of any physical body training to go along with the rest? -
I mean in a good way, that helped you to get past the negative ego and etc. I don't mean the more negative ones that left scars, unless of course you found these to be awesome learning experiences... I'll add mine later, have some Bagua to go teach someone with 5 X the experience I do...

Actually the two I made the joke about were strong enough that there was definitely something destiny/karma/whatever wise there for both of them.

Yes. Women tend to avoid morose and depressed guys, for obvious reasons. Well apparently accept for the students at the local university (where university studies tend to find their random sampling of people).

I would like to submit my counter argument and extensive research below:

Looks up tea on chart, traditional medicinals, whew . In general I avoid name brand stuff like the plague and made an exception this time... The rooibos mix my student left here isn't on the list...

I have been told by a few martial arts/qigong teachers that visualizing stuff actually screws up the natural process of the qi flow. I have also seen problems with the practices of folks who do a lot of visualization with their qigong. -
Hey wait a minute, that is from the local university here! I guess you have to look ashamed or grumpy, until you see a woman, then smile at her only for a brief moment, then go back into neutral or shame. You happen to see the thread on how to pick up women? I think I'm going to move to another planet.... lol

I usually prefer to mix my own . I usually do rooibos mixes since I prefer to avoid caffeine as much as possible. Though I was too lazy to hit the health food store yesterday and just bought a package of dandelion root tea. I'll try it out later today.

I've been extremely blessed teacher wise . Though I'm making up for lost time having not started martial arts until I was 38 lol. My more magical path, I started out with books for the first 3 years... the difference an in person teacher made, night and day! Though I have also found that having an online teacher whom you chat with regularly can be extremely beneficial as well, as I have had periods of time where I didn't have the in person option. I have learned much this way in the past. -

From what many members seem to say, I think most members on here are learning from books or DVDs anyways, and not someone in person. That could make it a bit confusing. -

There's these martial arts forums I'm a member of, when you join you fill out your profile with a space to list your system, lineage and teacher. If you skip that somehow, one of the staff always asks who you train with . It's sort of a neat idea, lets everyone know who trains under who, but also people tend to not get too out of line, as it would reflect on their teacher. Well in theory anyways lol. -
Bbl, off visiting Clement .

Covered death in the last one, so now onto love... Though I hope we never have to be tested in this way... (edited this a bit since it is now moved to a public area of the board). Anyways, so this man and woman had been dating for over 20 years, but they each had their own place still... Then one day he has a heart attack, goes to the hospital and gets operated on. 2 days later he has a stroke. Since then, he cannot walk, cannot speak (cept 2 words, which are irrelevant to his wishes, and random sounds yelling) and cannot even get to the bathroom on his own. He also pretty much can't understand what people around him are communicating most of the time, and has no way to communicate his needs, accept yelling (but then one has to guess what he needs, and can often get it wrong), as it is pretty random. There is unfortunately no yes or no option that is discernible to anyone, even after many years. Well his girlfriend moved out of her apartment into a 2 bedroom they could both share, so that she would have a spare bedroom for a caretaker to live in, and also spends $1200 p/m of her income to pay for a caretaker. Basically she works, and looks after her boyfriend, since he needs 24x7 care. She hires a caretaker while she is at work (the livein one didn't work out so well). She doesn't do anything else ever, and barely ever takes him out due to it being extremely difficult to. I think that is pretty awesome that she stuck it out and stays with him. That would definitely be difficult though!

That is what private chat is for, the little deeper than random strangers in a coffee shop discussing things vibe . I've had a few good ones with a couple of TTBers over time. -
Strong core muscles help back pain, and reduce the chance of injuries

I'm not sure what he does exactly. Most chiropractors don't work for me, but a fellow seasoned martial artist recommended this one, and it works amazingly well. The rest I tried over the years all sucked for me in particular. I'm not so sure what is up with that. I only tend to go in after I've ended up with something pulled or an injury from the martial arts training though. Anything else I just do more Bagua heh. He does some pressure stuff, a bit of massage stuff, then the standard crack once or twice stuff. Also some stretch stuff today. The TCM massage folks also do great chiropractic even though technically they aren't supposed to and such, it tends to work very well. Acupuncture is also awesome. I used to have a lot of back pain from car accidents... acupuncture was the only thing that ever worked, until I started Bagua that is (though the first few months was torture while redoing my back heh). -

*dies laughing* Yes, yes, horse stance could most definitely be used in that sort of environment. I should go to the local fetish club, head into the dungeon, and instead of saying "kneel" I'll just teach them all horse stance mwuahahahahah! -

Yes the real deal for anything is hard to find. Look for more depth than forms, careful of the word "wushu" heh. If they have some ligament stretching warmups, attend every single class and never quit . I don't know of any Bagua people from your actual location though unfortunately... If you are OK with posting your location some local to you Bagua people might give suggestions. Also if you paste the local teacher's websites here, some Bagua folks could have a look and give an opinion . -

The energy used by magicians and that used by qigong people is quite a bit different, I have found.
