Rules for winning an internet argument
BaguaKicksAss replied to Green Tiger's topic in The Rabbit Hole
If the thread has gone to the pit, everyone lost. If the parts of the thread where you and one other person are arguing, you both lost. If however you gracefully step out of such debates, you are clearly the winner of said argument . -
Oh wow, spam drones! lol

Yeah well Barnes and Noble is delivering by teleportation in 10 minutes instead of 30. Apparently amazon didn't start early enough, since I didn't hear about it until today lol.

This one is from Canada somewhere apparently I've always dreamed of one of these when I'm taking the ferry and see all these tiny little islands along the route . Though I'd like a small house and at least 3 acres of island thanks heh. And some cob houses http://naturalhomes.org/cobhouses.htm?a=googleplus

Another cool facebook resource: https://www.facebook.com/OffGridWorld Though nothing they are talking about (accept perhaps that shipping container house) is in my price range! Perhaps I just need to go further into the archives. Perhaps renting an already built one . One interesting thing I thought about was when I was in Egypt, Hait, Mexico, Morocco... there were so many people living what we would call "off grid". In Haiti there was only one person out of all of the ones I was talking with who actually had electricity. Of course many of the folks in cities do have the modern conveniences, but not so much once you get out into the villages. No running water or electricity in most places I visited. I remember one friend of mine from Egypt was telling me about how proud she was that her family had a flush toilet! There were more than your fair share of horse stance over a hole in the ground toilets... They can all still cook better than most folks in north america though .

I'd say! Guess she had to travel so far that she didn't come with many supplies. It seemed like many of the others had some basic food staples regularly (brought to them) somehow. Also eating nothing but the same plant for the first year, wow. So does this mean she gets to her, whatever her goal is, twice as fast?

As soon as USPS has them I'll be happy; I don't care before that. What, you mean use courier drones as target practice?

I'm tempted to send the person a return greyhound ticket and meet them halfway! Would save *me* 8 hours... -

I'm already going to have been on the train for 4 hours from Canada, and they don't necessarily match up... just not feasible to take 2 trains and make it back to Seattle by train as well unfortunately. Hmmm maybe I have to do this on separate days. *Wanders off to search rideshare* . -

Whether or not, at least steps 1 and 2 are the same... get working with someone who has experience counseling people through such things (with a license though so things don't get worse), and finding the strength within that you do have to keep moving forward. When you work with someone, all these stories (all the things which have happened to us) become uncovered one by one as we work through them. They fall away as we work through them. Some of our stories are just stories, others have more of a real physical base, however both are just as difficult at first. The important bit is that you can work through all this stuff, as may others have as well.

Which was more rustic? The job part in town would be difficult! Extra kudos . Propane fridge, now that sounds handy. Have you seen the amongst white clouds documentary? The one hermit lady on there had a pretty awesome water contraption, but she still had to climb quite a ways up the hill to get it going each time. Living with that many others around would sort of kill it for me personally . Well unless we had 10 acre parcels each, heh. Cheating and taking the bus or hitchiking into town tended to be our backup plan, that we used far too often . Yeah the folks I knew without electricity all had small gardens and chickens . Actual living in who knows, but for design and aesthetics, these are awesome!!! http://freshome.com/2012/12/27/10-bewitching-hobbit-houses-seemengly-inspired-by-tolkiens-fantasy-novels/

I have heard that goethermal is extremely expensive! I was asking about this 20 years ago too though, so things may have changed?? Btw, out of pure curiosity, has anyone looked into what the total cost for solar power for a small house? At least the cost for that seems to keep going down each year as technology improves and it is more and more widely accepted. What entices me the most about off grid, is the wonderful remote places you can live with it :>.

OK, so near some hotsprings as a location... *puts on her list*

Yes candles for lighting, usually inside of little lantern shaped things to hold them. Tealights that is. I would like to have more success with olive oil lanterns . Also I have found those liquid wax lamps are kinda neat, but I'm not a huge parafin fan. Hot water, well over the fire/grill and a huge bucket... I'll admit lazyness on this one LOL. Summer was one of those solar showers, I'm surprised they actually work. Something a little more plush in the future definitely . The filter is only needed for drinking water, so again, buckets and a filter. Oh! The outhouses we used (were already in place) had 10 foot holes and nice little roofs overtop). Then every however many months would move them on over to a new area (so as to not ruin the environment). We were using an old site that was meant for about 20 people, so we would just rotate which ones we used. I've lived in a cabin where we didn't heat the downstairs at all and kept hte door open for the dog (brrrr), used one of those wood stoves, they are awesome!!! A metal tub with a fire underneath, oh now that would rock :) . Btw, that whole thing of a fire on the ground, then cover it with dirt and sleep on it, works really well too, if it's a nice night out. Tried that a few times, so much fun. Not good for rainy nights though lol.

Yes, definitely equally important to look at. Hope you are doing better btw .

I mean the regular human fetus, and I wish I understood his writings well enough (and had some semblance of a memory) to go into how this compares with the immortal fetus! Ask me again in 6 months? :> But now I'm curious, so might just look it up too... I've only been reading/studying his work for a couple of years now (those are a lot of books!)
