  1. What Daring Animals/Foods Have You Eaten While Travelling?

Fun food experience, I'd been drinking some fancy imported juice that was my fave for a few years. Guanabana juice. They had a photo of the fruit on the cover. So there I am in Mexico and I come across a guanabana tree! I was pretty excited . I think my friend thought I was a little crazy lol. It was also fun running into a pomegranate tree over in Albania. My friend from there couldn't believe I didn't have those back home. I have to say I wouldn't mind finding a mangostein tree next... Oh and olives right off the tree aren't very good ;(. For mushrooms, I went out with friends who taught me how to identify them, and was also a member of a mycology club for a couple of years. It was fate I guess lol, my friends had wanted to set me up with this guy they knew... so they brought both of us on one of their weekly mushrooming trips, in the pouring rain! Got a giant bag of chantrelles and a few dates out of the deal lol. (don't most people usually set these sort of things up at movies or restaurants? :>) That was about 25 years ago, haven't gotten sick off of a mushroom yet. As an amusing aside all the mushroom clubs call their yearly potluck feast (best food ever!) the "survivor's banquet". This thread..... makes my breakfast of mandarin oranges and almonds seem boring .
  2. What Daring Animals/Foods Have You Eaten While Travelling?

Not all that exotic, but it did seem like it the very first time I tried it, those deep fried shrimp heads you get with your sushi! Those are sooo good! I have found that many people are not very adventurous when it comes to wild food. I have had people worried i was going to die after I picked a bunch of berries and ate them, and I even mean the times where they were berries I'd eaten my entire lives. Then there are mushrooms; I've had people refuse to eat things I have cooked with mushrooms I picked (obviously I wouldn't have picked them if I didn't know what they were!) Also the time that I was on a biology weekend field trip with my college. It was on a beach on a small island. So I harvested a bunch of different types of seaweed. Everyone thought that was pretty gross. I didn't tell anyone it had made it into my dish for the potluck dinner that night, until after they had all tried it and said they liked it <grin>. Even sushi though, I had first tried it in 86, and it wasn't so well known back then. We only had one local sushi restaurant then. (now we have several hundred here). Everyone thought I was crazy and wouldn't try it! I'm pretty much for trying anything that others haven't gotten sick from . Well OK accept perhaps those "prairie oysters" mentioned above...
  3. What Daring Animals/Foods Have You Eaten While Travelling?

I was definitely joking about the "vegetarian" bit . Actually eating non of that would bother me. Though the whole monkey brains thing I might pass on if I were ever offered. The blood sausage sounds good, closest I have come is hagis, and it is good.
  4. What Daring Animals/Foods Have You Eaten While Travelling?

This thread makes me think perhaps I would like to learn the word "vegetarian" in a few different languages .
  5. Black Friday Sale!

A PPF lets you be an ass, cool! I could perhaps include that under the user benefits package...
  6. Neikung Master Around John's Level (Demo)

I wouldn't call that healing per se...
  7. What made YOU laugh today/tonight ?

I was maybe, perhaps, sorta, kinda working on a TTBs thread when I saw that video .
  8. Opinion on "Mind-Altering Substances"?

I listened to both of these today and it reminded me of this thread http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr3TkOGgeJY
  9. What Daring Animals/Foods Have You Eaten While Travelling?

I got food poisoning while in Manhattan years ago, now you are making me wonder!
  10. Better than the artificial sweeteners by a long shot though! Irregardless, how can anyone eat refined sugar when their is maple syrup on the planet?
  11. Hi...specific conversation request

    Hasn't *posted* in awhile, yes....
  12. Hi...specific conversation request

    He's Pythagoreanfulllotus now.
  13. suffering

I would agree about it strengthening people.... if they can get past it that is. I see some who don't get past it, and that is very unfortunate . I do like to offer to help out if I can though. Interesting to note is that my Sifu and I were talking, and he said that of the people he has helped heal (really the patient does a huge part of the work) from major illnesses, they have told him that they are grateful for the disease and suffering now that they looked back. This is pretty amazing coming from people on death's door due to cancer. They in general said that it helped them change their lives though. I'd have to admit that I agree. If I had not suffered in the way I did, nearly died a few times and etc. I would have had a VERY different life. In many ways I now live the life that I would never have dreamed I could, which is pretty awesome. However if everything had been all perfect and cozy, I'd be working some job I hate, have never traveled, never started Bagua, never learned medical qigong, never met my Sifu, never found these forums..... Sooo all that said, if suffering is an illusion, but most obviously you can look and see that people are indeed suffering greatly (spend a week in a hospital sometime and look at the various in the high level care units).... how do they move past that? How would one help them move past that? Or, I also volunteered at the local asylum, where I saw much suffering (and some who didn't care, which was much better), how would those folks move past this illusion? There is of course the western medicine approach of fill them full of pills (works for a few), but that just doesn't seem to be the answer...
  14. Untying the Knot: Your Heart is actually a Spiral

I guess with all that DNA, I guess not .
  15. Yin chi number 3

The moving of an entire already going thread to your PFF, is more a mod level decision... I'm sure they will be reading this thread though, so you never know. I was thinking more for future use.
  16. suffering

To be devil's advocate to my last post (lol), how is it that me as a young child could have level 8-9 pains on a regular basis and that be just an illusion? Too bad I didn't start Bagua back then, heh.
  17. Yin chi number 3

That makes sense Brian thank you . And yes I figured. I just wanted to make sure that this thread in particular was seen for what it tried to be . The timestamp thing made it rather confusing.... PS, The tech team makes the BEST PFFs around, and would be happy to fancy yours up a bit MPG if you would like... a sub forum or two... (well OK and anyone else for that matter too, but trying to sell PFF posting to MPG today)
  18. OK test complete, yes the original post remains in the report center, not the edited later version .
  19. Yin chi number 3

In case it wasn't clear about the thread split, the posts MPG was making in the SM thread, were split off into this thread that one of the members (HE I beleive?) created for off topic yin qi rants by MPG... It wasn't pitted, so this may not have been clear, so just pointing it out. So yeah he's still going on about SM and yin qi, but not in a SM thread anymore...
  20. Being as the mods have a decent level of intelligence, they would read the word "post deleted to consolidate" then scroll down to the bottom. So all is good . Also, the original post does still stay within the report center.
  21. Saw what? If you mean posts/threads being moved? The links still work.
  22. suffering

Even chronic pain with an obvious physical cause, can suddenly vanish. I still get the affects of the endorphins though if the "pain" gets really bad. But it no longer hurts. I did a medical qigong meditation one day and it all vanished. So I believe that yes, even that kind of suffering. Though on the otherhand it is difficult for me to say suffering is not real, as I have seen people suffering, and I can feel their anguish... Depression seems to be the worst one (which chronic pain can easily lead to). Also chronic pain which is decades long and severe. Just because things worked out for me, I can't in good conscious go telling someone "hey that's not real". (though I can tell them, "here check this out"). Some middle of the night ramblings .
  23. Opinion on "Mind-Altering Substances"?

Calling Dr. Darwin, is there a Dr. Darwin in the house? Holy hell, amazing he lived through that concoction! PS www.erowid.org
