Why does Taiji feel so much better with long sleeves?
BaguaKicksAss replied to Kadesdes's topic in Daoist Discussion
The more clothing we have covering our bodies, the more aware we are of our physical bodies and the movements . The wind thing, yes qigong is supposed to be generally avoided in the wind. However fortunately over the years you will likely find that this is less the case. I just practice under a covered area with a large wall when the weather isn't as desirable. -
Opinion on "Mind-Altering Substances"?
BaguaKicksAss replied to Unlearner's topic in General Discussion
I personally will take something once every year or two to clear some stuff out. I find it very affective. I do this in a ritualistic environment, and prepare the plant. Then after that, it is up to the plant how we proceed. I have learned (the hard way) to not give the plant a list which is too long, or it will suddenly stay active for 3 times as long as it usually should . Also, I have found that work can also be done taking doses so small that you barely feel the affect, or not enough to have any affect, or in some cases if you really put time into the preparation just carrying the plant with you. While the deep altered state can be useful, I do not believe it is necessary for most things. I haven't found anyone else who agrees on this with me, but this is my own personal experience. The plant spirit can still lead you through the experience if you allow it, but prefer to work with it more often, or perhaps on a weeknight. The main difference though is that unless you really put a lot into it, the session could end up being much shorter. So I guess I would sum up to say I work with the plant spirits more than looking for the specific biochemical affect on my physical body. On a side note I have always felt that is you *need* the extra plant help to reach certain states or to see certain things, you are not doing it right, and could impair your practice in the sense of not being able to just get into the proper state any old time, on your own. -
would this strange grounding technique work ?
BaguaKicksAss replied to mike 134's topic in General Discussion
Please really careful, I have a student who actually seriously messed up his adrenals from practice (long before he became my student). Resulted in time in the hospital, chronic fatigue and so forth. It's taken a bit to sort out. I have seen others get quite emotionally/psychologically unbalanced from energetic practices. So I'd say be careful with this stuff, and stick with the basics until you get yourself all fixed up energetically. Using the qigong and so forth to repair the kundalini syndrome stuff would probably be a good first bet. A good experienced teacher, instead of random might be really new to things teacher would really help too. I think folks are giving so many warnings because we have all seen someone come out in a bad way from altering practices... -

This was a hard one for me. Still working on it, but yeah it's true. It didn't make logical sense to my mind, but it works .

This may have been covered before, I am not sure. But I'm curious what a forum full of cultivators has for dreams? By this I mean, the ultimate life and situation each of us wish to live in while we are here. I call it dreams, meaning not to limit to things we only think that are possible. I find that we tend to limit ourselves quite often, and not even talk about our dreams, because we think they are not possible, or that we don't deserve them, or etc. I have seen and found that nearly everything is possible given enough time. However with many things, a compromise is often needed. For example, many people say to become a millionaire. However unless you have a rich family, this sort of thing is going to require many overtime hours at work, perhaps many years of higher education, and perhaps also a LOT of schmoozing and socializing with the sort of crowd who makes this sort of money, to have good contacts, to get a foot in the door for the very well paying jobs. Most things we really want take work from all I have seen, so it depends a lot on where we put our efforts and thoughts. So without limiting things to what you believe are limitations, what would you say your dreams for this lifetime are?

Oh I've seen that one before, it is awesome . I really like how the different pairs of people do come to be more friendly, and the photographer did definitely seem to group people who would not normally even notice each other. Embedding here doesn't help the country thing btw.

How deep should sitting/emptiness meditation get?
BaguaKicksAss replied to thelerner's topic in Daoist Discussion
The trance state stuff is really useful I find, unless you need to remember every minute of the experience afterwards . Though with experience it seems to get a bit easier. I personally prefer the above one. I'm not entirely sure which is more useful; it seems each are useful for different things. I use both for various magical and qigong practices. (I mean when I'm lucky enough to get the one I was going after that day lol) -
How deep should sitting/emptiness meditation get?
BaguaKicksAss replied to thelerner's topic in Daoist Discussion
Thank you for this; I think perhaps I have been expecting too much of myself. I have been disappointed that I do not reach this state very often lately (though the could sit for 4 hours part of your description doesn't apply to me at all, more like an hour or two realistically). Reaching this seems more random when it does come about, and only about once per week if I meditate daily for an hour, at times has been more like once per month, and when I did 2 hours of meditation per day it was more common. I use meditation as parts of other practice, not of something in of itself that often lately though. Btw, this is the best description of what I have always just called an "altered meditative state" (for lack of knowing any proper terms) ever Nailed it . -
This video is not available in your country lame.

If it has been happening since a firefox upgrade, maybe that, or perhaps try a firefox upgrade. I'm using the newest version.

Cat, you can start a new thread in the office if you like, or we can just figure it out here. There was a quote function not working thread, but it sort of got derailed into a religious debate . I'll assume you have, but just in case, have you logged out and back in, and also cleared cookies? Also maybe closed and restarted your browser? I'm using firefox and mine is working fine fortunately.

Why does Hindu and Tibetan call Sexual Energy LOST after Ejaculation?
BaguaKicksAss replied to 4bsolute's topic in General Discussion
From my perspective from lots of "field experience", I would say there is definitely an energy to the sperm. Great stuff for sex magic too! Now the combination of the 2 elixirs works even better IMO. Saving it up? I say whatever works for the person. I have friends (who are guys) who have been cultivation in various ways for a few decades. Some of whom prefer retention, and others who prefer to just keep it how it comes out naturally so to speak. I would say that neither seem to be lacking in any way from an energy, power, cultivation perspective. I have also (from said "field research") found that forgoing the various retention stuff during the actual sex bit is far more fun! However saving up for a few (like 2-3?) days beforehand can be *wow* for the partner! Now my own personal experiences with retention or not are quite shunned (loudly even) on these forums, so I no longer discuss them. -
I've always found it interesting in TCM Taoist stuff that different parts of our bodies, most especially our organs, house a large number of spirits . Specific generals for different areas, with different jobs and so forth.

Which is which: QiGong, NeiGong, WaiDan, Neidan (?)
BaguaKicksAss replied to Lataif's topic in Daoist Discussion
It was the "always vying for supremacy" comment that got me curious . -

BaguaKicksAss replied to Lataif's topic in Daoist Discussion
I'm curious as to why they would be vying for supremacy? Instead of just being, either merging like salt and water, or being separate like oil and water. -
Yeah he said it was with IE 11.

My quote function is not working all of a sudden?
BaguaKicksAss replied to RongzomFan's topic in Forum and Tech Support
I think that maybe, since the problem is resolved and the jokes are a bit off colour, and the OP is NOT in the mood to joke about these things... I'll go and lock this . -
