Bums in Baja, oh hell yeah! Keep this up and we could get a bums world tour... Oh the airfare to Mexico has gone up since I last went... carpool anyone? It would be fun, to do a Mexico one in January or Feb of 2015 if anyone is interested! (cold here then). Maybe after we get the Monterey one rolling... you can start setting up and proposing a Baja one... UK would also be cool for folks over there...

You have it right, you invoke the divine presence, bring that in strongly, and that will help get rid of any which are bad for you. (notice how I said bad for you; just because a spirit helps someone else a lot, doesn't mean they are good for you to have around). For who is good and trustworthy, go by gut instinct first and foremost. If you *ever* get a bad feeling from one, boot it out. That is a neat idea about connecting with your teacher . It takes practice and time to be able to differentiate. It is sort of like being a tourist in Egypt I think.... when I go over there everyone is so friendly, they want to show me around, they want to tell me their life story, they are my best friend... all as a ploy to lead me back to their perfume shop! lolololol Fortunately I have found that the percentage of spirits who really do mean well to be greater than then % of people in Cairo who don't see me as a walking wallet.... Also, if you have another person you work with who can also perceive such things, preferably more experienced (and together enough to do stuff like hold down a job), you can ask their advice and feedback. It's pretty easy to tell right away the folks who have something nasty hanging around them. And for anyone else reading this, like I always say, do not learn this from a book, get a teacher. Oh yeah and avoid anything called "channeling".

With this I feel a middle ground is best, do not fear them, yet do not trust them just because they are a spirit. Some are good to have around, and some not so much. Some are really bad to have around and just cause illness. Some will help you, others will view you as free lunch.. It is always good to have one that you trust through experience (and recommended or confirmed by a teacher if you are so lucky), which you can ask to check out any new ones around .

Mexico is in South America (and of course has better Mexican food), Monterey is only the best in North America I'd soooooo be up for a TTBs Meetup in Mexico sometime! Which part of Mexico do you live in? And even more importantly, there are lengua tacos there right? I have been to Peurto Vallarta (was fortunate enough to stay with some locals instead of some lame european styled overpriced hotel), Guadalajara, and a bunch of little small towns in between. Loved it!

If we can acquire a massage table, I could do Medical QiGong treatments by trade . There always has to be some trade I am told, so I like to stick with that. ....Wont have to do my own dinner dishes all week.... lololol.

I'm going to setup something so we can talk more exact specifics... soon within the next couple of weeks . Thank you for offering to help. Yes remote, unless I get down there before then... my trips to Monterey depend on my budget, which is sometimes sort of random lol.

Some awesome tendon stuff for Bagua, qigong and etc.
BaguaKicksAss posted a topic in General Discussion
Andrew Nugent head explains these principals in amazing clarity! He calls it Daoyin, yet it is quite different than what most people refer to Daoyin as. Some would call what he does stretching and reeling the silk. Anyways, an awesome way to improve your Bagua . http://vimeo.com/13499485 http://vimeo.com/13501558 http://vimeo.com/13502817 http://vimeo.com/13504638 http://vimeo.com/13482104 http://vimeo.com/13478225 -

If you want the most out of it, and the best long-term training result I would highly recommend that you pick ONE particular exercise or practice and stick with that for a few months. Then add a second one, and do the 2 for a few months. I would say a few years but none of us have that sort of patience! Of course i would have also recommended the exact same thing even if you said you had 10 years of Bagua training, but I would have just worded it differently . There are some Bagua schools which focus on only one particular exercise/movement for the first 1-3 years. It really does build some awesome stuff. Also pay a lot of attention to the principals he talks about and try one at a time with your taichi . Principals are principals. However most modern public classes leave a lot of them out . -

How much previous internal martial arts training do you have? -
This is sounding more fun by the minute!

I see them like the general public. You would want to get to know someone a bit before hanging out with them. You would not take advice from just anyone, and many people on the internet will lie about who they are .

That is due to his and my different beliefs. Basically you have to sort out your own on such things. -
Music would be AWESOME! I have some rattles, that is about it. Hopefully the folks who are driving to it will have some more variety.

Most definitely! There were a couple of offers on page one for teaching some stuff as well. I really like that idea. I could talk about Bagua, though I'm still very new to it (3 years now) to it. Perhaps discuss circle walking

If there is anyone who would really like to attend this, but cannot afford it, if you could please PM me.... I would like to figure out how many people this might be, and see what we can all do. I can even keep it private about who might need some extra help, as not everyone is willing to admit in public that they need this sort of help.

Yes I'd definitely be willing to chip in a bit as well for anyone who really and truly cannot afford the airfare (and might even share my room if asked nicely and promised interesting conversation).

Nei Gung - Any Good (Practical) Books?
BaguaKicksAss replied to yabyum24's topic in Daoist Discussion
I thought that might be the case if you had a good traditional teacher . Yes, that is where we hide that sort of stuff, in the "warmups". I have even had some teachers go so far as to tell me that the sparring and applications parts of the classes are to just keep people coming back.... Of course principals are taught in these as well, but it is the "warmups" which are the essential part for the first quite a few years. There are also some other hidden things in those warmups, as you will discover over time. I would quite honestly say that even the most mundane of those warmups your teacher makes you do, will bring you further than any book (books are more for if you don't have a teacher, and/or just want an intellectual understanding) or advice given on the net. Though sometimes a good book on the practice is handy since you can read through them then go ask your teacher more questions. I definitely don't recommend adding an extra practice though, but more just to have more knowledge on the subject and know what to look for in class .
