My friends who have been teaching martial arts for over 40 years or more tell me that there are not actually a huge pile of techniques, that it all boils down to a bunch of very similar ones. Also, techniques are irrelevant, it is the principals behind them. A teacher will look at a student or class and then figure out which techniques they will cover to get the principals across. On the more purely energetic practices side of things, each student has a different set of skills, and needs different things than each others, or so I have found. This is when teaching one on one anyways. When it is a group class the same principals are taught during the beginning stages.

Good point about people likely not wanting to go back to work after a treatment. Folks tend to seem like it is the first time they have ever fully relaxed in their life! Going back to work would probably kill that completely. Thank you for letting me know the popular and unpopular days. When one is starting out you can rent office space by the day or half day, and get to choose certain days each week. No wonder Sunday is the least expensive . Oh good point about when my qi is the strongest.... there will be no 9am sessions if I take this into account. May I ask if you live in a large city? I've been debating evenings or not, but around here people seem to have so many after work activities that I wonder if they would be free during that time. Though so far my appointments have all NOT been during regular work hours..... -
lol I never noticed the banned title for Flo, heh. Mods and technicians can't ban themselves btw lololol.

Sea salt. If you dont have a bath tub, bucket of warm salt water over your head a few times . Also a heapload of sinking your energy into the lower dantien would really be beneficial for the OP. Qi rising too much can allow that sort of thing as well.

For severe or long term stuff the salt baths are usually done 3 or 9 days in a row, with incense burned right after .

Thank your for the paleo recipes reminder . I have not seen those blogs, cool.... I have a paleo for athletes book which is pretty awesome. I was marathon training for the entire year or two I was grain free, so did quite a bit of research to make sure I got enough carbs for said endurance activities.

Thank you for the suggestions . Yes, almond meal, that stuff is sooooo good! In everything . East Indian dishes I cook so many of that I got tired of them after oh about 10 years lol. I might go back into them though, especially more south indian flavors since I'm newer to those, and actually prefer it. I might also get back into Moroccan and Egyptian cooking, but without the grains of course. I'm sure I could come up with a grain free dosa recipe. Ugh, can't stand buckwheat lol, but amaranth and qinoa are OK. I also like using hemp seeds, as they are very filling and quite nutritious. Bone broth, gotta try that, especially since my butcher would definitely be happy to help out. Taro is also quite yummy, and readily available around here. I'm celiac, so something with gluten will not be on the list ever. Btw, no rice is out as well, otherwise I'd just eat Pho every night hehe.

Would you like a personal practice forum? This is a section where one can post their articles, post their own vids, and also be able to moderate your own threads .

I want to get one for my (cold) treatment room. Anyone tried one? I'm curious how well they work. It is a small room, so should be fine. It's pretty new tech though, and it doesn't seem to have made it to north america yet, so I've not seen one in person... Some are quite pretty I'm just going to go for a plain one though to save $$ .

Anyone tried one of those infrared wall panels?
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in The Rabbit Hole
I already have folks making jokes about wanting to just sleep on the table overnight (I got an extra thick foam massage table), I think the heating pad will clinch it lolol. Thank you for the heating pad suggestion! -
So did you try the salt thing yet?

Help with stagnant qi liver / depression
BaguaKicksAss replied to marcus2013's topic in General Discussion
The herbs and acupuncture your TCM Dr. gives should fix you right up. Also it's very likely they will suggest specific diet therapy for you; this helps as well. Actually your martial arts teacher can likely give some specific exercises/practices which would help as well .- 26 replies

Salt baths. Clears a lot of crap out, both external, and internal (just in case).

BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Those table heating pads do look tempting . I had the heat turned up this evening during a treatment, and boy was I roasting! I love the mineral infrared lamps! Someone loaned me one for a week once, it was soooo nice on my sore back (from Bagua all day everyday during that time lol). It will be worth having one just for my own use hehe. Do they lay on the heating pad things during the entire treatment, or are they just to pre-heat the table with? -

I went with one of those TDP lamps; I've tried one before and they are just awesome. Well that and just an electric heater I have laying about for backup. -
I would definitely go with an in person teacher over a book. So much more can be passed along. Books aren't very good at giving feedback either. Also the Chinese keep meticulous records, you can check the local teacher's lineage to see if it is just wushu, or goes deeper.

I have found that in any particular system, the exercises and practices which you are taught in the first year are actually the most important and in many ways the most "high level" .- 93 replies

That is a very common scam unfortunately. There are so many ways to help people which don't include money.
