Hmm, the IPBoard help forums might show if someone has already done this... though the addons for this forum software seem to actually cost money, which is odd for forum addons.

Veganism prevents taoist or tantric cultivation
BaguaKicksAss replied to nickyro's topic in General Discussion
Ever seen the documentary amongst white clouds? There's a heapload of Daoists and Buddhists in the mountains who go there to cultivate, who would disagree (or they suck at trapping, but I'm guessing the first option) . -
I get why you asked him . I'm still surprised there were so many hits with a name more interesting than "Bob Smith" though lol. Teachers do fortunately or unfortunately come under more scrutiny since we are wondering *who* we are entrusting ourselves to; of course that info could be given to interested folks privately though. (personally though I'd also ask for FH photo and/or real name before getting any talismans from him). This is kinda getting off topic though...
-
FH, you don't want to be stalked by TTBs members? No fun Herschel, there are 18 different people with your name on the people searches ;(. I was hoping to street view your house on google earth. I'm just kidding, but a reason folks probably don't like to use their last name on random forums much.

There seem to be 2 threads for this... so I'll add this here as well, unfortunately only 4-5 users can use chat at once, unless we pay more....

The one guy was talking about how he has had about 1000 students. Said only about 20 have been successful. When asked how many are teaching now... none .

my personal opinion is oh hell no!!! I prefer to know who I'm chatting with (at least by username and intro post) and also prefer to keep the trolling to a minimum.

Brian's Inverse-Square Rule for Thread Value Probability as a Function of Pages

I'd agree! Unless the OP is just a sock puppet of someone else. Not just these forums either, that whole the more pages the thread the more downhill it goes thing is pretty comment internetwide. -

If it were my dream (how I was taught to approach talking about anyone else's dream, since you are not me, maybe DP was in my class hehe) I would think it was me killing off a bunch of unneeded ego aspects. Then eventually I had done enough for now, and then "I" had to die. If I had been doing extra spiritual work lately this might be the case. If however I was really angry lately, I would interpret it more as me trying to destroy aspects of myself which anger me, or perhaps illusions.

Shoes without rubber soles? (grounding)
BaguaKicksAss replied to MooNiNite's topic in General Discussion
There are the cotton soled martial arts shoes. There are also many shoes with leather soles. I personally find shoes very annoying and only wear them when going out somewhere. I don't enjoy martial arts practice half as much with shoes on. Here's a funny story (extremely heavily paraphrased due to not remembering it very clearly) that my grandteacher tells in his vids.... when he was younger and hadn't uhm worked on refining the ego as much (he says something along these lines) he went to study with some great well known teacher. He of course wore his cotton bottom shoes. This teacher was wearing regular sneakers. He was rather surprised and was apparently noticeably looking at this guys shoes. So the teacher made a comment along the lines of "oh you are one of those". So he went on to say if you are living in a house with electricity, plumbing and etc. then the shoes aren't going to make a great deal of difference. I'm not retelling this very well, but you get the idea. I'm definitely not saying that avoiding rubber or shoe preference is silly, I'm just showing his opinion. I'm assuming you also mean plastic and various manmade materials though? Since finding real rubber these days is extremely difficult due to the dying out of rubber trees . I personally don't like plastic anything on me when I practice. It's just a personal thing and doesn't work well for me, so I fully understand other people having preferences as well . -
Which internal art should I practice
BaguaKicksAss replied to WingChunTaoBum's topic in General Discussion
A friend of mine trained and taught Baguazhang for over 40 years. Then he found a really awesome Wing Tsun teacher and switched over to that. He sees the two as extremely similar and having the same principals. All of the classes I took with my friend had the same practices I am used to with Bagua, accept the circle walking of course. So I think that as said above, it is just about finding the right teacher with the right focus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Tsun -
Also some of us go into the medical qigong and/or mysticism siide of things to sort stuff out further. an entire body twisted and torqued while moving from your deep core sort of pacing .
-
We circle walk. This brings up our stuff, anything which may be in our way, unbalancing us, unresolved stuff and so on. It sort of clears the way. It is also a great meditational tool in the fact you are sort of walking the qua/trigrams themselves and the iching (as some see it). I may come back after some sleep and edit for clarity lol.

Ehem, apologies for the topic vanishing for a moment! Apparently I can't hide the very first post in a merged topic without the entire topic being hidden, and difficult to unhide. Yeah for backend unhiding capabilities heh. Will hide this post when the first post is sorted .

Nudan (Neidan) Practice for Modern Women
BaguaKicksAss replied to cheya's topic in General Discussion
Neat article . The whole returning of periods thing is pretty nifty. I had it happen. (I had started menopause quite early). My friends don't like the idea of that possibility however LOL. Odd, the author doesn't mention her Neidan lineage or any of her teachers in her bio. These are handy for women, different weights http://www.babeland.com/babeland-ami-balls-/d/3002_c_129 though my old teacher who had gone over such stuff with me was talking much more weight than those (eventually). I definitely wouldn't want to go to higher weights without a teacher guiding the process. Packing energy into the ovaries; I would really hope folks don't learn such things from books!
