  1. Tarot as a Magical Tool?

Oh wow, boy was I wrong on that one! Well I have to say I definitely can't argue any of those points . I did try out a few things from the Grant writings, mostly tunnel related. It was interesting, and a type of growth inducing, but so are many other things. It was more one of the many things I tried out than anything of a path or working with long term. I had a couple of friends who were really into the Grant stuff, and went a little too deep. Then a couple of folks into the Bertriaux stuff who unfortunately got severely messed up.
  2. http://thetaobums.com/topic/15794-laozi-and-the-magic-square/ Wikipedia also has a good article on the Lo Shu square. Also this page: http://www.taliscope.com/Collection_en.html I have worked with the same square, but from another tradition, pretty neat stuff, and much crossover
  3. Has anyone else worked with these magic squares?

I find that pretty interesting that certain stepping orders call about or bring about different things . I was taught more about each square and how to activate them. That is pretty awesome you figured out how to make it work well. I had some dreams where I was walking the 5x5 square when I was working with the squares a lot, and they were quite intense. The walking it while awake was also quite strong, but nothing like the dreams. Btw, just a note for anyone reading this when I say walking the squares, I was not doing it in the same way with the specific stepping style as in the Taoist traditions. It was funny though when I started Bagua, and my teacher told me I had already been walking the Bagua, then laughed.. :>.
  4. Tarot as a Magical Tool?

Yes it involves the Tunnels of Set and so forth. It was a joke, definitely not a suggestion for anyone to go working with it . Though back when it came out there was definitely no relation to Bertiaux at all, he must have added that to his books later on. I'd be pretty worried about him writing about the Tunnels! Not that they can't screw someone up enough as it is, but yikes.

  6. Mak Tin Si the Taoist Master is back and gone again

Apparently you had not yet reached that great of a level in your personal cultivation. Well that or it's likely you didn't have enough posts yet .
  7. Mak Tin Si the Taoist Master is back and gone again

You both realize you can change the title that appears above your avatar right? Edit: Grand Master and Grand Poobah... You both realize...
  8. OpenDao

Hello OpenDao Welcome to the TTBs. Be sure to read the two posts about the forum rules and so forth at the top of the lobby section. I know this hello and welcome is a bit late, but I noticed that you also live in Vancouver. Feel free to PM and say hi.
  9. Tarot as a Magical Tool?

One of those times where you wish you had a Linda Falario Shadow Tarot deck on you . Now it becomes clear why I don't give workshops very often lol.
  10. Tarot as a Magical Tool?

ROFL ROFL ROFL my condolences! Did you quickly hand around the Thoth deck? *grin*
  11. Timing of Magic Over a Lifetime

I've never seen incense go wrong . I'd probably hold off on the other more serious offerings until you get some idea of what sorts of spirits you are dealing with, how friendly they are and so forth. Or if you already do know who's around (and work with the divine daily) candles and other things are good too. If spirits are hanging around you in particular, they are obviously just fine with how you would naturally do things, and the system you practice. It just tends to work out that way.
  12. Franz Bardon's system

I have unfortunately and seen far too many folks who work and follow the Bardon system for many years, or perhaps a decade or two and are missing (IMO) methods for working through their internal crap, as well as not nearly enough grounding. Of course this is not always the case, but does seen to crop up a lot. Btw, steps number 1 and 2 I think we do for the rest of our lives really, even once one moves into the others, 1 and 2 are always good to keep up.
  13. Franz Bardon's system

Too bad I can't like this more than once. Some very good advice.
  14. Timing of Magic Over a Lifetime

That energy is actually how you communicate with them . Start chatting, then you will get a sense of their answer through the energy. If they are strong communicators you will *know* if they approve of something or not LOL. Also to communicate with them, just talk to them, out loud. Use the feelings you get to perceive their reply, and a pendulum as backup. In other words, if you get the feelings stuff you mention above, you will have no trouble, just need to figure out through experience what is what.
  15. Good Afternoon

Welcome to TTBs . I really appreciate your forthrightness.
  16. Tarot as a Magical Tool?

So your grounded and don't go insane . Well that is why those who haven't traveled the entire tree yet do it anyways. Now if you have gone up and down the tree a few times, then you don't need anything, just hop on over . Since you are more experienced with the tree, try it out. However anyone brand new to the tree, I don't recommend it, I've seen the aftermath of people just skipping malkuth in many different workings, too often. Modern magick is geared towards folks completely new to the path (I'm just assuming from your posts on here in general that you have some previous experience :>).
  17. Board Wishlist

I don't think you need to worry Cat, I was the only one who wanted them, and I just found the one I needed in google images, TTBs is safe .

  21. Cooking up a storm

Mango Lasse recipe, take said yogurt above, add ground cardamon (if you didn't already put it in your yogurt) some fresh mango (or canned is how the restaurants do it), rosewater, and honey. YUM! Now I'm hungry again lol.

  24. Has anyone else worked with these magic squares?

Hmmm, I could not find anything by Lagerway at amazon or abebooks? I am sort of curious as to why the 3x3 is much much more commonly used than the others? Well aside from the Bagua and being on the back of the turtle aspects... Are you by any chance referring to the trigrams (iching hexagrams) being within the parts of the fingers? I found that pretty fascinating.
  25. Has anyone else worked with these magic squares?

I'm definitely going to read that one!
