Experience. Shutting off the part of you who doubts your first instinct.

I look at each being individually, not as a whole group.

That sounds like some people I've met .

Best and easiest marzipan ever! 2 parts almond flour/meal to one part icing sugar (mix together first) 2-3 egg yolks. A little vanilla extract Some ameretto liquor Stir all together, done. Doesn't need to go in the fridge. Lasts a few weeks... well unless you let your friends try some, then lasts a few hours at most .

spells that always work
BaguaKicksAss replied to nine tailed fox's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Uncrossings are quite awesome . Like you said, it is rare that they don't work, and if they don't often a different one of the few that are used a lot will. I always have folks do an uncrossing series first before getting to work on their particular situation. To start out with a blank slate. Also like you said the uncrossing alone does often solve it. Uncrossings are good for our own crap we accumulate from pessimism and so forth regarding the situation as well. I guess one that has always worked for me is a money incense that I give to friends when they really need it (or myself for that matter). There has only been one person it hasn't worked for out of.... a lot. Funny how we are not talking about "spells" or at least in the sense that most folks think of what a "spell" is . -
Actually we are still figuring out how any section of the forums like this may go. We will have to figure out what all to include. Much thought and discussion is going into this, and it may take awhile. Of course in the meantime the Personal Practice Forums are used in this way quite often. If you would like one just let us know .

spells that always work
BaguaKicksAss replied to nine tailed fox's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
I think also practice of the very particular path which the spell or whathaveyou is from is good too. For example my bikeriding only took me so far in marathon running and vice versa, though they are both cardio. I have found this with magical paths as well. Of course someone who has never done either would have a much harder time with marathons, at least the folks who have bikeridden for years have a much easier time about things. Same with magic. I have noticed that specific experience is needed to though. Also the path itself, as well as the spirits, etc. from a particular path the spell is from (or perhaps even who's names might be within the spell) has to be taken into account. With experience they get to know who you are. Also initiations can be quite relevant. I have taught some folks with buttloads of qi/power/energy before who could do some amazing stuff, but quite a few of their spells didn't work. I think part of the problem was just being new to things. I think another part of the problem was taking a fire hose to something instead of a laser pointer, it takes some time to fine tune and focus the energy. Newbies with lots of qi are always interesting because they can pull some neat stuff off, but there is also some other things needed, a sort of magical maturity and experience, as well as a been there done that sort of thing. I'd definitely be interested to read your additional thoughts on this SonOfTheGods . -
SotG, I think it's more like you are a very new member, we have not heard of you or know who you are, aside from a random person posting. We do not know if from a legit lineage, or how long you have practiced for and etc. I am just using you as an example, but having a bunch of folks who we know nothing about with their own section wouldn't work out so well probably. Being well known and recognized, a few books out, many students and so forth does tend to help. Not saying such folks are the most knowledgeable, but it is one way to know background. Also folks in the above category also get the most questions asked of them. This section would be more about the several known systems of qigong and so forth. Btw, as an aside, we also have an articles section .

The most powerful person is the one with the strongest mind.
BaguaKicksAss replied to Rebel Emperor's topic in General Discussion
Actually I find the mind tends to get in people's way, no matter how strong it is and how well they use it. The mind is what we shut off in deep states of meditation as well as spiritual states. The mind is also very caught up with the ego, which can sometimes go quite overboard. I have not seen a strong mind be able to counter this, but more allowing the other aspects of self and higher self to step in instead. Also I find power and strength to be illusions. These are things we strive for or tell ourselves to keep our monkey mind happy and to make us have false security. We are too afraid to let the mind and the control go. -
Nah not a video student, an in person one (diff teacher and diff MA though) who has seen too much in person drama and promo, hence why I reacted . Leif however is much better at expressing himself, I have to say.

I will never get that minute and a half of my life back!! LOL I couldn't watch past there, it was too painful... I'm off to torture my fb friends with it now .

My personal bias against newage lays mostly in the folks who take a weekend workshop (or perhaps a few weekend workshops, or a week-long workshop), and are suddenly a "master" or "healer" and then go on to teach others, write books, try to heal people and so forth. Things tend to get watered down so the general masses can do them with as little practice and effort as possible, then through on to a few generations of "teachers".

+100 in general though, not just this post .

How come you are trying to tell everyone? There will always be people who claim things. Vids speak for themselves. Just train, don't worry about others .

I didn't build the hut (mine would have been worse lol), but in general people are busy doing their thing and don't necessarily have the inclination to teach/help others hut building... especially with the language barrier. However I think doing a trial run in the area you live in for a couple of years first would get past many problems. Hut building is more difficult than one might think. Have you seen the Amongst White Clouds documentary? It is quite awesome, and inspiring. It also shows a bit of the reality, such as the one lady who lived on the one same vegetable for her first year before the garden got going. Then the huge hike to get water regularly. Pretty awesome setup eventually though. Out of pure curiosity, how come in China in particular? I'm guessing you have been there a few times already and just love it, but I had to ask. I've been tempted to move to a few of the remote areas in the places around the world I have visited .

PS torrential downpours suck in self made huts! It sucks even more when all the wood around you is wet, and the wood you stored in said hut is damp to the core because it has been raining for a week...
-
What is the longest you have gone so far without modern conveniences? Many folks die each year just from going hiking, let alone living for years only on your own skills. Of the people who get lost in the forest, they usually have to be taken to the hospital after they have been found within a week or two. Now if you already successfully live off the grid, you are halfway there .

good question, that is odd... must have gotten moved by accident. Edit: think it fits here?

I have to say all those editing of posts to just include a . and nothing else later gets really old, what's up with that?

Bagua! *wonders if Protector's post is a typo or not*

Also a good idea to practice said hermitism in one's own home country first to make sure you can actually pull it off. It's a lot easier here to cheat and get to a store or something if one finds out they are a crappy farmer, or get to a decent hospital if one suddenly discovers the realities of frostbite.... Considering the vast differences in the two goals, and over such a short period of time, and before even realizing the first one, I would guess that you may not fully know yourself and what you want yet. Much more introspection needed before heading to a place where there is a good chance you don't know the language very well, and might be considered an outsider.

Following your heart and purpose is good for your health

Hey congrats on your first art commission . There is nothing better than being able to do your life's work instead of just work you hate. Sometimes artists have to have backup income, but eventually it works out so you can do it full time if you work hard at it. I found that putting in a 40 hour workweek tends to help to make sure you can do art full time. At first some of that 40 hours is in self promotion, but eventually it is mostly in art after word gets around.
