I'm glad you have found some good teachers . Yes the circle walking is the most important. Btw, we have a few Bagua conversations going on around here from time to time. For your specific question above, I recommend posting it in the regular forum section as you will get much more response. Also if it is an overall question instead of focused on one particular system/book you will likely get a much wider set of responses.

Thank you Rene . Deleted 3 spambots, heh! Btw, my suggestions in this topic were with my mod hat off. Any official mod posts are all highlighted with colour changes and very obvious all caps saying it's from the mod team.

Awesome, thank you, I found it to be an interesting topic .

Yeah actually being a slow learner is to your benefit beleive it or not. I didn't beleive it at first, but do now . I have two students... the "slower learner" is now progressing much better than than the really fast learner due to reasons of having to focus and practice more. This is after about a year of training.

I highly recommend some in person training if you can find anyone. Vids are awesome, but can only take you so far IMO.

If it happens in your threads only, you may want to look at your delivery style in the original pots. If it happens in many different people's threads, you may want to meditate on not being emotionally involved in people's responses and not taking things personally .

Yes, welcome to the internet. Well next time you do, just stick it out, and don't take anything personally. I know it can be frustrating posting in forums, but just remember who you are and what you want to say. As long as you are fair and decent, all else is irrelevant really.

If you are going to start a thread, at least have the decency to keep the original post and title intact. OK so people disagree with you, so what.

Yes slowly, that is what my chiropractor advised after I had to go in due to not being able to move due to a pinched nerve after twisting too far with one of the exercises... oops LOL.

An interesting blog on the various Taoist holidays and practices
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Daoist Discussion
I did a search on there and found this And concerning the 11th day of the 7th month (8th on the gregorian calendar) he says: It seems sort of similar to me, ancestors and hungry ghosts. Not saying they are similar, just saying that the tradition of offerings and so forth seems similar from what he says. Odd, and interesting. I personally know next to nothing about Taoism so far, just trying to learn as I can. I'm hoping someone who practices such things can answer though. So far personally I'm just doing small meditations or saying hello on such days as I have not yet been trained in the formal rituals, altar work and so forth. (aka, noob! ;> ) -

I have personally found that group JAJ et al. to know their stuff more than just intellectually, and to a good depth. When I started training with one of his disciples, I threw the most difficult indoor secret sort of questions pertaining to the realm of magic at him. I had about 200 such questions (hey I've been at it quite awhile and had very good teachers, so I knew what to ask). He was able to answer all of them but 2 to my liking. With those two I'm not sure if he didn't know or wasn't saying lol. I'm really sort of skeptical having met many folks who teach magic who are full of crap, no lineage, haven't really practiced everyday for their lifetime or whatever. I was satisfied enough with his replies that I continued the training . With martial arts/qigong, I was shown the same stuff and more that I had learned from the traditional folks I had trained with. I'm newer to martial arts though. But I was taught enough of the important principals and some advanced principals that I was happy. I also liked his medical qigong books in the fact that they put into words many things which I have experienced over the years but no one explained (I think perhaps the chinese folks he learned from just describe more with words than westerners). Now whether his books are useful for folks newer to such things though, I have no concept of. I'm sure I could have successfully gotten myself into quite a bit of trouble with his library had I gotten my hands on them 25 years ago heheheh. I've grown wiser enough that I only conduct small experiments with the material I know nothing about . My small experiments solely from the books have worked quite well though. On the topic of his humor in vidoes, the Houston Cancer Seminar vids had me busting up laughing! Here I am watching this serious video about how to heal tumors and well... they were far from boring! Good info covered too. As far as listing sources goes, he just sort of mentions the book/person much of it comes from as he talks about it. In his Medical Qigong books he has an extensive bibliography in the back of each one (I just checked to make sure).

Energy Healing - Does it really work?
BaguaKicksAss replied to clariceedward's topic in General Discussion
Healing doesn't work 100% of the time on 100% of the people, it is just natural. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Also anyone who gets 100% good reviews I'm a little suspicious of anyways... it makes me think of ebay and the coerced positive feedback measures many sellers used to do. -
I have been reminded of some very good advice about communicating with others, and heated debates lately.... The first is from a Bagua teacher Yusen Yang This was posted in response to some online discord. Then also the good ol' That necessary bit is always difficult, and the first two are definitely important.

How come all the video, online, forums, books, etc. learning?
BaguaKicksAss posted a topic in General Discussion
I mean for martial arts, Taoist practice, Taoist related magic, qigong, and related. I'm curious why everyone goes for the various not in person sources? Is it due to difficulty finding a teacher? Or perhaps a teacher folks actually like? Or are the vids/books of higher quality than local teachers? Personally I am fortunate that there are many skilled teachers in my area. Also traveling for quality teaching has never scared me off. Actually when it comes down to it, I would actually move for top quality teaching, as the above topics are quite important to me (and some of them have been part of my life for quite some time). I see many questions and answers, an often wonder "how come they don't ask their teacher"? Or I see a video and wonder if they conflict with people's present paths/teachings or not. Of course I ask questions as well sometimes, my reasoning being that I get curious and don't want to pester my teacher too often . I figure it isn't usually about money, since many teach for free, or $5. Anyways, I've gotten quite curious. As you can likely guess, I highly recommend in person training if you can find it! -

Good points about specific training to not muscle through it. I've been taught this through apps and sparring to some degree, which is interesting. We were corrected anytime we would not apply the principals in sparring. Yes there are a few awesome in person seminars (though Bruce is not in my budget!) There are also the Yin Bagua folks, whom I have heard many great things about. The classes aren't too large, and the prices are very good. Not my path personally, but I have met some people who train with them; pretty awesome. Which reminds me of Andrew Nugent-Heads vids, if someone doesn't have an in person teacher, top notch stuff. Oh hell even if you do have a teacher . Sloppy Zhang, I have to say I feel we are both very fortunate we get to travel and train with the exact teacher we wish to . Actually we both have backup vids during the none in person times as well lol. -
Mantak Chia's Iron Shirt; good or bad practice
BaguaKicksAss replied to norbu's topic in Daoist Discussion
Packing is one of those things that really should be learned via a teacher, preferably in person to make sure you get it right. -
Don't they have that at 711, under the brand name Red Bull?

That last question would take a book sized post to explain... oh wait, I think a few people have already written some, whew lol. It has always been recommended to me, even by my most esoteric woo woo (as some call the metaphysical aspects of Bagua) teachers to get the physical down first. Get the alignments right before adding energy, or you can really mess yourself up. Also the physical comes first, then the energetics, Daoism, meditation and so forth come later. I mean in regards to the martial arts movements. Nothing wrong with doing them alongside as a separate practice. I would recommend an in person teacher if you can, especially if you are looking at combining things/going deeper than physical. Yes to both, but saying it like a walking or sitting meditation is only scratching the surface. Mud stepping, which system are you training under? Bisio's book; he has some awesome stuff out there . I don't know about that book in particular, but his Neigong stuff I've heard really good reviews of; he has good information. I would also recommend Park Bok Nam's, Jerry Alan Johnson's, and Bruce Frantzis' material. Btw, for awesome physical aspects of Bagua Andrew Nugent-Head has the most amazing (and free) vids on vimeo. The Yin folks also have really good video material.

Btw, there are several Bagua folks around here .

Dealing with Ouija (wegi) board possession by "demons"
BaguaKicksAss replied to nova_b's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Salt throughout the house. Also blessing some salt water and putting that about as well. Burning incense. Salt baths for himself as well. The entire house. It works. PS, taking less advice from youtube on serious matters would help. -
I have found, and this works for my students as well, to make sure that you do a LOT of bringing the energy back down to the root. This doesn't take away from any kundalini et al. stuff at all, but it does help balance and ground.
