As well as Maya Darren's awesome book to go along with that movie. -

Perhaps setting up an altar for one or both, then daily altar work. What folks are looking for in a prospective student/person to join their house, is that the person is genuine, and also favored by the spirits. Easier to be favored if one says hello (and gives rum lol) on a regular basis. Good idea bout Legba, as he is the one who opens the crossroads.... to opportunities. -
Theurgia-Goetia, on Gods and Demons
BaguaKicksAss replied to Zhongyongdaoist's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Hmmm, I have found the Goetia crew to be most similar to some of the Seniors from the great table. I could call them in the same ways, do similar offerings, have similar conversations and so forth. I mean entity personality wise. Very interesting article! Well Dee and Kelly also would have read Agrippa as well as many of the other older grimoires as they could get their hands on. I have noticed that the EE's like to put things in context of how you already go about things, or what you already know. In other words, I wonder if the EE's may have organized the system similar to the other grimoires for Dee and Kelly. One of the other things that I noticed with Enochian is that those prayers to call the various spirits from the Great table, read very very much like a standard evocation from a grimoire. I mean having all of the same compenents, just a bit more of a personal prayer format. Well I will definitely be looking at Enochian with a broader approach now, thank you. So where do the cacodemons fit in? I personally don't see them as anything like the entities from the Goetia, verum, Gran Grimoire, etc. Sure you may have lost some folks in the last post or two, but I'll bet a few will be checking over the various grims mentioned, as well as Enochian (please no GD Enochian, noooooo) .- 29 replies

Hmmm, do you practice any form of divination? This may help you figure out which ones are good (for you) and which are not. Even if someone really knows their stuff, it doesn't always mean it is the right path for you in particular. Also there are times when one teacher may know less than another, but be the most perfect match for yourself and your learning style. I'm guessing that you are already working with a few of the ATR spirits on your own? You can also ask them about each person to narrow it down a bit. Now if you don't work with any yet, perhaps try it out while you are waiting to find a teacher. -

Training with someone who is not local will be useless to you in my opinion, I have said this before. While I am far far from an expert in this stuff, I have been around enough to know that you are wasting your time trying to train with someone not local, unless you plan on flying to Haiti or Brasil or whatever twice per year for the next 20 years. -

I found this one: http://www.labelledeesse.com/home.html Not sure if it is the same one you already found or not. Looks legit from the entire 30 seconds I used to asses such things... No reason to not get a reading before meeting in person. Readings are usually low cost, and low risk. They are also often required before you get to meet in person. Email works too though I'm sure. Initiation? They don't give those away easily, you have to prove yourself first. Initiations also tend to be very expensive, bulls cost money, dummers cost money. Now traveling to Haiti, you can find lots of folks, but most will just rip you off and pretend, since compared with them we are billionaires. Sort of like when I see the Japanese tourists come off the cruise ships here, all the sheisters are there waiting to help them in any way they can! Research before you go works though. The catch with long distance is that you don't have an in person Mambo/Houngan to guide you and teach you after. The initiation is just one small part. I have run into folks who have been initiated into the various ATRs and unfortunately had no teaching after, and could not work the tradition very well . Hmm, there is also this: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2010/09/27/Voodoo-practitioners-go-public-in-Montreal /UPI-35271285615224/ maybe that group is still around? I most definitely don't have in depth experience, but I'm in real good with Papa Google . Edit: here's another idea... I have noticed that when I work with one of my fave Lwa that others from that path start to notice me, and look when they pass me walking down the street. When I'm not working with them for awhile, this doesn't happen. So perhaps pick a fave if you haven't already and get to work, then you will likely start to meet others. -
Find someone local.

Back when I used to admit my gender on irc, icq and in forums there were so many attempts to turn what seemed a normal convo into netsex I stopped listing gender and started using a username which wouldn't make gender obvious. I only changed this recently, hoping the net has grown up somewhat, and also hoping that martial arts forums and Taoist forums actually draw folks who are decent.

Opening the Third Eye: Spiritual Sight

Easy, many traditions do it daily. Take any African rooted one for example. I have found that it often involves rum .- 112 replies

I think it's more because there is a higher % of guys than gals who post on the internet overall. Funny is I've been accused many times of lying about my gender, is how rare it it for women to post online lol.

Pinyin or original Chinese for "When Rotating in Worship of Heaven..."
BaguaKicksAss posted a topic in Daoist Discussion
I'm wondering if anyone has the phonetic or pinyin of the original chinese for the ""When Rotating in Worship of Heaven, the sound of thunder is everywhere and transforms everything." and "When Rotating in Worship of Heaven, the great void saves us from the hardship of existence." Or perhaps know if this is in print anywhere (basides the pakua chang journal of course). Well OK any further information on the two prayers/mantras would be awesome . I had one person recommend this: http://risinglotusherbal.com/emedia/books/scriptures.html but it doesn't seem to be in there. -

Thank you very much to both of you . I'm going to try them out with my circle walking. Also, this should most definitely help to narrow down any original written sources... if there are any. Could just be one of those handed down verbally sorts of things. -

They are more random then that, it just sort of comes out... sometimes lol Hey someone should start a thread where people can ask for readings/insights, that might be kinda neat :>. -
The above should be bolded and highlighted .

As long as you don't go saying that in most traditional houses you will be fine LOL Yes many similarities, and same/similar roots. Oh hey that was a good suggestion by OldGreen, yeah ask your fave spirit you work with from these trads to bring a good teacher to you. It has worked for me before when seeking a teacher .

Uhm, you do know that Ifa and Voudon are different right? I figure so, just making sure. There are similarities of course, but they are different religions/traditions. Btw, don't jump into any house, or the first house you find. Do some research first and ask around. Travel to Toronto if you have to, or NY. I hate this saying sometimes but, when the student is ready....

The reason Vodoun is such a good invocation tradition is because it is properly taught and handed down by people who have been properly taught. I don't have much experience with Vodoun really, but have seen and experienced enough, and have quite a bit of experience in other traditions to draw from. Heading over to Haiti, with contacts setup before you leave is really the way to go with that tradition. I think a lot of the negative opinions about Vodoun are just fear. Not saying there isn't some really scary sh*t in that tradition, but most things said about it are by folks who do not practice that tradition themselves and never have for any decent amount of time.

Grounding, some more grounding and yet even more grounding. It may sound counter intuitive, yet it is the most important aspect and unfortunately often forgotten.

Opening the Third Eye: Spiritual Sight
BaguaKicksAss replied to Hypnagog's topic in Daoist Discussion
To open up the third eye, the best thing is meditation, lots of it, daily. Sure boring at first, but really it works. The catch though is, it's not like you only get to sense, see and feel the good stuff. You also get to to feel the sorrow of the person who just lost a loved one, get to see the nasty spirit attached to the homeless person you just walked by, get to know how much pain some people are in, get to hear trapped spirits screaming, get to know when folks are just pretending they like you (though this is sort of handy). There are an equal number of positive aspects of course, but folks tend to forget about the downside. I was born psychic. Seeing ghosts both friendly and unfriendly when I was 5 was most definitely not enjoyable. Fortunately my mother found me a teacher back then. What usually happens I have found is that people start to open up with various spiritual practices, see something which deeply disturbs them or freaks them out (such as the list above), then forget it happened and shut back down. The only things I have seen help folks see better is meditation and a stronger connection with Deity. I'm sure there are other things as well, but those are the main ones. Drugs, well they can shut your mind up, and it is the mind that gets in the way. However, not very useful if one has to take an 8 hour trip just to use the third eye. In my opinion I mean, there are thousands upon thousands of Shamans who would very heartily disagree with me.- 112 replies

Opening the Third Eye: Spiritual Sight
BaguaKicksAss replied to Hypnagog's topic in Daoist Discussion
Funny thing, I have noticed that people who have experienced mild brain damage end up with high IQ still, but memory problems. However the really interesting thing is that they tend to end up suddenly psychic. Instead of permanent damage to your third eye, I would say more like you are working really hard at keeping it very closed. We all do this to an extent; our society does not approve of or encourage such things (to put it mildly). There's also that whole fear thing. The more internal crap one clears out, the more psychic one becomes.- 112 replies

Astral projection troubles/blues
BaguaKicksAss replied to Lindelani Mnisi's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Well grounded, but guarded, is what I got. More in body stuff than out of body stuff, but I don't se eyou having a prob with out of body stuff as you either know a lot, or do a lot of practice, over the years (no idea what type though) As to the original poster "really young" is what I got, and I got to look at the age on the profile to confirm. (no offense, to the OP, I"m old lol). But from that I got the impression that his energy will likely change as he practices and matures and so forth. Yeah any excuse to avoid work, trying out psychic skills on forums lololol. Back to html now. -

Robert Bruce's books are good. He has a lot of material on his website as well. Offering to allow completely random strangers on the internet take you out of body is most definitely not the best way to go about things btw. Not everyone on the internet is nice. (these forums are public). -
Personally I do not join public forums in which I have to use my real name. I have a very uncommon name, and am sort of well known in some circles. I can also see how some folks say might not wish to use their real name when posting about evocation for example, and having their employer or family find out. I have also had people from the internet threaten to come attack me in person before (due to occult posts on forums). While most of these claims are just BS, there are some crazies out there. So I'm hoping that using a real name stays optional .
