  1. Invocation

I think I should go read the forum rules veeeery carefully before posting my opinion about invoking sponge bob.... . I can only imagine what the exorcism would be like if things went wrong.
  2. Grimoire

For grimoires, http://www.esotericarchives.com is also quite awesome .
  3. Looking for that documentary...

My legs are sore just from watching that...
  4. Invocation

Every single spirit which you invoke (in the sense of bringing them within you), leaves a small piece of themselves within you. So in other words, much thought about which ones is always good . Sometimes just one invocation can lead to permanent personality changes (or greater understandings) and other times it takes several times. Just make sure you get the right spirit, I've seen folks get the wrong one (random human spirit or trickster of some sort), which goes quite badly. I wonder how this works in the sense of karma in the Taoist belief/system?
  5. Youngins in the Western Tradition

I worry about anyone starting that young without a teacher to guide them. My teacher started when he was 7, but he had someone to teach him. I find that even older folks have to practice for a time to gain what I call magical maturity, for lack of a better phrase.
  6. Youngins in the Western Tradition

I have found that unfortunately many who are drawn to magic are looking for shortcuts. Some figure magic would be easier than hard work. LOL, those folks have nooooo idea! Also, like anything else, 100 people are drawn to it, and out of that 100 only 1 or 2 will take it seriously and make something of it. The rest will all whine about how meditation isn't necessary...
  7. What is wrong with me?

Here's the catch, cycle of abuse. We get treated a certain way by our parents when we are young. We (cause we are young and don't know better and are human) associate this with love and attention. So then later in life, we subconsciously go around attracting the same type of treatment. As far as finding people to hang out with, what I found works is to find people like yourself with your own interests, instead of just random people. This tends to work really well. However trying to befriend random average jo/jane never seems to work well... for me anyways.
  8. Grimoire

Traditionally handed down from teacher to student. Along with the how to of course . Yes, having prior magical experience most definitely does help, especially if one doesn't have a teacher. The spirits can tell a newbie a mile away, and some see this like taking candy from a baby so to speak (naivety). Also good point Seth regarding the strong divine connection first.
  9. Theurgia-Goetia, on Gods and Demons

Busy busy work day, so I will reply more later, after I've had the time to properly re-read over your reply and put some thought into it . I just wanted to say.... and to think, that several of the Enochian dairy notes were either lost during the fire, or used to wrap pies and fish with! Those 49X49 tables still elude me, even with much discussion about them with the Enochian entities.
  10. Theurgia-Goetia, on Gods and Demons

I remember about only 10 years ago some of us ordered a set of the microfilm from the British library. Back then you couldn't find them online or in digital from the British library yet (as you likely know). It cost about $500 from what I recall. You wouldn't beleive our excitement when they finally came in the mail! As soon as they arrived we headed over to the local university library to view them on their microfilm readers there . It was pretty exciting to see Dee's actual handwriting! Of course now they are all digital and fairly easy to come by, and as you mentioned the 5 books of mystery. Now my copy of True and Faithful I didn't get until about 1992. Boy did I have to save up for that one, and have it special ordered. When I started Enochian I was using the Golden Dawn version as that is what was readily available. Then I fortunately ran into someone who had been practicing it for about 20 years at least already. I set about making the tools after that. Considering how difficult it was for me to find information in 1990, I can only imagine how difficult it was to find anything back in the 70's! Have you also looked into the various manuscripts of the Theurgia? Some very interesting stuff in there; not all published.
  11. Grimoire

They are basically books which have a list of various spirits in them, with short descriptions as well as the seals used to call said spirits. Some of them also have some old spells in the as well. Yes definitely good to either have a decent amount of previous magical experience, or be within a tradition which works with the grimoires. Or if for some reason one works with the grimoires regardless, choose the friendliest spirit from the most well known grimoire. In my opinion (which isn't shared by many lol) is that it isn't usually the spirits you are calling who will give you the problems that folks run into, it is the random other spirits who sneak in alongside who you are calling, or who come instead pretending to be who you call, or who come over afterwards thanks to that GIANT gaping portal you just left sitting there...

  13. Bath Salts

Hehe, I was in a store which sold those salt lamps one day, and the lady in the store was telling me about a customer who thought that they should clean their lamp. Not knowing it was made out of salt (they do look sorta like rose quartz) she put it in the dishwasher. Afterwards she couldn't figure out where her lamp dissapeared to! Epson salts can be good for cleansing baths too! My favorite use though is after too much Bagua for my poor legs, heh.
  14. Unfortunately it's far too easy to end up with spirits in you, or attached to your aura. However, unless the person is very experienced and/or properly trained, they generally get whoever/whatever is standing around and closest by. There was a local woman we say die slowly over time from such things. It was pretty nasty. She would channel just any old random spirit, and thought they were all love and light... Aside from her feeling horrid, and we could tell when one was around, as she would feel 100 X more horrid, her roomate most definitely confirmed that who/what she was channeling was NOT for her best interest or health. There's a good book called The Siren call of Hungry Ghosts which talks about such things. The author was part of a newage channeling group for quite some time, but then started to look into and question things. I would disagree with the author on only one thing, and that is he feels no one can ever actually get the correct ghost. Take Haiti for example, they train folks from early on how to do such things properly and under the guidance of a teacher. I spent some time there, and I would most definitely say they were not just faking it! The part I like least about most channelers is that they think they are getting their "guides" or "angels" but it is more like a dead human who is well.. hungry. Not something to learn from a book or a weekend workshop!
  15. What is the best Qigong lineage to start out with?

I'd recommend finding a teacher over any book, much less unlearning to do later. I have yet to meet a qigong teacher who actually recommends any of the books. Also none of the people I know who teach qigong would prefer a student who has learned from books over one who is just brand new. If however you live in the middle of nowhere and there is not even a single qigong teacher (keep in mind all of the internal martial arts have some form of qigong in the series of practices as well), then any post standing exercises are the best to start in my opinion. Well OK best to keep doing all throughout your practice too. Those stand still be fit vids are actually pretty good, for non in person teaching.
  16. Theurgia-Goetia, on Gods and Demons

Bearskin (for example) is good too, for the same reasons lionskin is. Not the only approach though. (source: me, been doing evocation for couple decades, know many others who do too).
  17. Theurgia-Goetia, on Gods and Demons

This one has been my fave for quite some time: http://archive.org/details/cu31924028928236 from Cornell. Now I'm curious about the Warnock one though.
  18. This person started sending me very regular emails outlining all of the people who were supposedly magically attacking him. Then one day he accused me of doing so. I sent him an email tearing him a new one and told him no I actually have a life. Apparently that worked! He seemed to calm right down after that. I did get to pondering how many places he was getting talismans from and if I was on his long list of people he was giving to them or not. I hope for his sake that this was not the case as I doubt he's rich.
  19. My friend with the gall stones really really wanted to go another route and NOT get it out, that is why it is unfortunate. Here we have no trouble with the FDA (well aside from not being america I mean, we have our own version). Basically we have many many chinese herb stores around here, with chinese doctors who work there. Basically seeing the Dr. is free as long as you purchase your herbs from there (and I think around $10 if you don't). We have a very large asian population here. Perhaps 20 such stores in chinatown alone. Anyways, I have never had success with western medicine, and found that the chinese medicine works REALLY well for me. So upon seeing my success with them, sometimes friends will try it out, but they don't stick with it long enough unfortunately.
  20. To prove that internal organs affect emotions, just do too many of one particular ogan out of any of the qigong organ sets! Or at least so I found surprisingly and accidentally .
  21. This makes me wish that my friend who had gall stones had gone to his chinese Dr. (I recommended he try it out) for longer than a month... He opted to just have the gall bladder removed instead. It will be interesting to see any personality changes. On a side note he is a very very angry person. It is interesting how much interplay goes on here. Also interesting to note why therapy only goes so far for more people. It sounds like the organs if not healthy can lead the emotions and psyche to be unhealthy, but then the emotions and psyche being unhealthy making the organs worse; a viscious cycle!
  22. Okay. I'd really like to start living again. :(

There is no need to apologize. Kundalini stuff without a teacher can be difficult, and sometimes things go wrong. A few possibilities I figure; either you are going through something similar to the dark night of the soul (those are so much fun, sarcasm), or you were not physically and emotionally prepared before the kundalini stuff, not enough grounding, you hadn't cleared enough of your inner crap out before starting, or something just went wrong. For example most books really are not recommended for kundalini work... Those are my educated guesses from personal experience and seeing many folks do this sort of work and have odd things happen. Also sometimes there are down periods to help spur more growth. We don't (unfortunately) tend to grow as much when things are all happy flowers and sunshine (darnit). My teachers have always told me when you are going through hell, just keep walking... Someone suggested a kundalini support network, pretty awesome . Finding a good qualified teacher would be extremely helpful, and many even teach for free or trade. Also someone else recommended physical activety; you have no idea how important this is! On many levels, it actually lessens depression by quite a bit (source: my university psyche teacher), as well as it helps get the energies flowing properly. Sometimes with kundalini stuff people end up with the energies flowing in ways they shouldn't. Physical activey and exercise (outdoors especially) is also very very good for grounding. As far as therapy goes, each city in north america at least has free options for folks who can't afford the other options. Some therapists are pretty amazing, they can get you to find some of your core stuff quite quickly, stuff we miss ourselves at times. This helps with the whole clearing out thing. Hopefully the suggestions above help in some way.
  23. Very good idea about the "protection trance"! Unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) I'm not local to him, so I would have to devise something online... which shouldn't be a problem, just more prep is all. Well I should be there in many years with the Chinese medicine heh. Just starting on that path. Not like he will be the last person with this scenerio though. Perhaps I can refer him out; he does have some trust issues though to say the least. I am definitely not a fan of western medicine either, but also I wouldn't tell someone else to avoid it. I more recommended he get therapy than see a psychiatrist though, as those tend to favor prescriptions and not as much figuring out the core issues. On a side note, I find it fascinating that the ghost points in acupuncture help with mental illness and/or actual spirits (or at least that is my very very limited understanding of such things at this time). Btw, what is zhangfu? Google wasn't helpful... . Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it.
