You don't gain anything from empowerments
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Hey this thread is supposed to be about empowerments, not about me.. . I'm rather private about my spiritual practices. HH Dalai Lama will be teaching in my city soon and is offering a Avalokiteśvara empowerment . I have been thinking about such things lately.... I saw it more as a losing false and/or limited concepts of said physical. Self too. Though perhaps in the future I may have a greater understanding of such things. Did I mention newbie here? Don't take my word for it anyone... hmmm though I guess I could say see for yourself lol. -

You don't gain anything from empowerments
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Buddhist Discussion
They (empowerments) are all irrelevant if you don't practice your butt off though. (or at least I figure; doesn't make sense any other way) I've never heard anyone in person brag about their empowerments, or even talk about them now that I think about it. Might be an internet thing.... Though people do talk warmly about teachers . -

Pop up ads for empowerments, that's sort of scary! I wonder if those teachers mind that their sacred teachings/learnings have become so commercialized? Perhaps they are just happy that more people are able to benefit. Or perhaps the person flying the teacher over is trying to cover airfare and etc. It does make me naturally suspicious though I have to admit. Even more suspicious of those phone and online empowerments that folks charge for.... So far the teachings I have been to barely break even. Then there is the Dalai Lama, who gives empowerments to 30,000 people at a time (!), and donates the profits to displaced Tibetans funds and such... -
You don't gain anything from empowerments
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I thought it was interesting, in that many talk about empowerments like they are these things you collect, and that you get a lot of something out of each one. I also figured I would get something out of it. However, I just keep losing things . Interesting process! Though teachings which don't include empowerments seem to do that too. So you don't gain anything from teachings either, just lose more stuff; from my present perspective anyways. -

spells that always work
BaguaKicksAss replied to nine tailed fox's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Are you still casting it each day? Generally you can keep working it until it manifests. You don't just cast a spell once and have it work, usually. Though sometimes they do, it depends how big what you want is, and how out of regular reality you are going for. For example a simple to manifest thing can occur immediately (such as the time I did work to have my friend's cel phone returned), whereas to get someone from broke and on SSI to the point of being rich, could take a decade... (and would only work if the person put in monumental effort on the physical plane). Though 6 months is a long time, perhaps move on... most magic manifests within a month, two if for something more difficult. -

I went to my local newage bookstore to pickup 2 books about Buddhist stuff, for a camping trip. This was one of the two . Thank you for the mention; I will get to reading it (the camping trip was shortened so didn't get very far in). -

That is awesome! There is only one thing missing with many of these, sunlight coming in through the large windows... and being able to have plants thrive.... Perhaps two stories would be perfect, one underground and... wait, I already have that with the basement here lol. -
Astral Projection and the Energy Body
BaguaKicksAss replied to FraterUFA's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Eventually sure, but along the way... there is still much can be done and which is useful. Since some folks can just pop out and come back with relevant matching info in their first year of practice, I would think that this shows that no huge transformation is needed just to astral project to the various realms. It sounds from the above that the description that they are talking about a lot more than just out of body travel; and not something as temporary as a few quick journeys either . To build what they are talking about, a LOT of daily practice, meditation and connection with one's fave divine source would be the way to go.... Also to be able to get to the state through meditative practice where you can remember and be fully functional while out of body, and remember your experience when you get back. You didn't need silly things like free time right? That's my take on things anyways... For a cross comparison, Jerry Alan Johnson talks about spirit travel in his books... but, apparently it is quite the advanced technique and is not done until one is at priest level. Still though perhaps an interesting source from a Taoist perspective. If anyone has any other sources of such perspectives I too would be interested; I'm far to underread on the Taoist side of things. -
Astral Projection and the Energy Body
BaguaKicksAss replied to FraterUFA's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Oh interesting, I had noooo idea. Back when I read Robert Bruce all his works were completely free and he hadn't even put out his first book yet. So I at least recommend his very first book/works on the topic, can't comment on his newer stuff. That's the easier part for most people, that is the standard type of projection folks use in the GD etc. systems to go wander around the tree of life and such. (as my understanding of it anyways). It's the more physical and solid version which is tricky generally. Also you can ask the various spirits of your system for help with this . Personally I managed this through just the regular pathworking, which I allowed myself to get deeper and deeper into, and stopped worrying about was it just me/my mind or was it real... then it became more so naturally with much practice. Then one day I popped out of what seemed to be my own aura/perceptions/reality/microcosm into a larger more external macrocosm version of things. Was sort of neat. You can also, put on the robe/cloak of hebrew words/names/letters (forgot the exact writing on this thing, it was quite some time ago) to help one go from here to there. Old Kabbalistic trick that worked really well for me . -

My personal experience states that he is the only author I have ever read who's writings reflect my own personal experiences with out of body travel . I feel the lunar is more for travel closer to the physical plane, and the solar is more for travel in the less dense planes. -

BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in General Discussion
Yes but he's announcing that it is not from the old tradition which supports it any longer; so at least the spiritual people/buddhists will know that it is no longer valid, and now only politics. -
