Is talking about spirituality and practices useful?
BaguaKicksAss replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in General Discussion
Cause having every single meeting being about how we should all convert to Islam and how he has crossed the abyss and is an adept, gets really old really fast lol. But you do have a point, perhaps I should bring a good book . Fortunately only 1 member is thinking of not attending because of him... (he's been kicked out of 2 previous meetup groups!) Hmmm, perhaps I should bring a book for *him* to read . -
Why do only very few Dzogchen practitioners attain rainbow body?
BaguaKicksAss replied to Wells's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Is it similar to the Western magic version of such things? (which can be summed up as write down your dreams, tell yourself when drifting off to sleep you will become lucid, practice during waking hours with trance states, try to "wake up" or look at your hands during all dreams.... all to help have lucid dreams way more often, or every night...... then get to the point where you start to do your practice consciously during the dream (instead of just the fun ones where it happens as a surprise without you trying)? I'm figuring it likely comes from a different angle and has some other neat aspects . Hmmm there's a book on it too, hmm. -

While we are here, and since I love to derail threads... anyone know of any 3D software which has ring templates built in? Paid or free, either is good.. I haven't found any yet. But one that I can easily figure out would be cool, this being the case, Rhino didn't work out so well .

Thank you! That magic wand tool has saved me months on a project. I had to remove the background solid colour from a few hundred different circle designs. I couldn't find out how anywhere... then finally... After I had already done 30 of them by hand pixel by pixel *sigh* lol. Now that lassoo tool, so confusing, it doesn't follow any shape at all for me <pout>.

Thank you . I will see what I think of the "preview" vids and go from there. Things either tend to really resonate strongly with me, or not at all... I sometimes luck out and fine some teachings/teachers which do. Neat about the workshop in person. I have always preferred in person teachings. Nothing wrong with $350 for that much teaching, it is just that it would be a side interest instead of my main practice, so not really a budget for that (well and jewelry making supplies and courses are taking every last cent I make lol) -

Yep, $350 for the online workshop. Fortunately I live in a place with many in person teachings, so I might just look it up. Also I'm borrowing an... er preview copy... of that dream yoga workshop to see what I think . -

All my years of practice have helped me to realize this lol. Master the circle... fortunately, I don't think that is possible! (hence why I love Bagua) -

I think it would work with magic too . And hell jewelry making for that matter. Well with devotion and etc. of the student, if that isn't there all those beyond first year teachings won't help any I don't think... For example, some paths with herbal magic and herbs used for healing... for the first year the student gets to know *one* plant. That is it, that is all. Perhaps 2 years on that plant. Then moves onto the next plant. Wow, I could only imagine the power and ability of such a practitioner! Or imagine, someone who spent 20 or 30, or 40 years with just one plant, which helped with many diverse things! From what I have seen and experienced, teachers really badly want students to succeed, so they give them the best they can give them as early on as the student is able (even in the hidden stuff paths), because students often move on to another path, or scrap the practices all together, so you want to leave them with the best you can to last them a lifetime if need be. What is you never see that student again? At least give them some stuff which will help them for years or perhaps decades to come. So I feel a LOT is given in that very first year. It always seems really simple, and often boring, but the first year things tend to hold a lot in them, imo. Now sticking with only the first year practices of something is not something I have ever done lol, but I'm going to at least keep circle walking forever . Fortunately I do still practice the first year stuff with each path. -

Still sounds the same . Also, over the years, the circle walking gets deeper and deeper and more can come from it. I have this personal theory (though don't yet know if it is true) that one could reach the highest levels of any particular practice by only doing the first year of work/main principals of that practice (as long as said first year of teachings are legit and actual principals). -

Personally I think that more awesome today than I was yesterday, is attainment.. but I get what you mean.... be all end all actually does it, sort of attainment. Soooo what are Trekchö and Tögal from your perspective? And what do they do? The various wikis aren't helping . -

Now this forum is a bit more fun than meetup for me because on here there are many people far far further on the path than me, and also twice the experience/years as me . At the meetup, I am by far the most experienced, and the magic tech support go to... -

Hmmmmm Do any of you wise folks have suggestions for how I can switch the meetups/discussions around? It is in a coffee shop, so meditations to start each meeting might be a bit difficult... We do have one troll who tries to make every single meeting about him, but also there are always 2 different conversations going during every meet... (I can't just kick him out, he's popular and we learned last week that he's been feeling suicidal lately; 2nd Saturn return maybe, or too much internal crap more likely). So distract the troll methods would be handy too! -

Now with actual students, I find I learn a LOT, as we tend to explore a lot together, and they ask deep questions. But with the meetup group, not so much. Apparently I have to liven it up somehow. We do have our very own troll though, we still love him, but he is most definitely a troll lol. He's to popular to just kick him out. -

Actually there is one use for discussion groups (and forums). Out of each group, I tend to end up with 1-2 friends who I end up knowing for a good long time, and we get quite a bit of productive work done together. Thinking about it, the other members do end up swapping contact info with each other as well. Always nice to know people on the same path. I think our meetups are sort of like magic tech support lol. Awakened eh? That's sort of rare; though I have pretty high standards for such things. Unless you just mean obviously on the path and gotten a little bit of somewhere and practice a couple of times per week... that is much more common. I view awakened more like come into their power, take their path as primary importance in their life, gotten quite a bit of somewhere, and gotten past a lot of their crap. Though thinking about it... the lot of us probably feel extremely awakened to someone brand new on the path . -

ZOOM, I'm curious how come you are interested in Trekchö in particular, over and above the various other teachings/practices from these particular paths? -

Well the in person meetup is much easier than TTBs... no one can create sock puppets... if someone starts raising their voice a bit too much I just turn on bitch mode and that ends that (and everyone else gets a really good laugh for the evening apparently lol), and it's a small enough group we all know each other pretty well... sometimes from a decade or 2 or 3 back! -
Thread rules: no insults to each other nor genders, that doesn't help anything. I think it does a lot for women in the fact that men are becoming stronger in their true inner power, instead of false ideals that society tells them to be like. Also the more powerful (in the true sense, not false power) men become, the less they need to try to exert power over others (this rings true for women as well of course). The focus has been mostly on women coming into their power, but fortunately more recently there has been more of a focus of men coming into their power as well. I see this as a very awesome thing for everyone as a whole. I feel that there are many unrealistic expectations which have been put on men in the past; have to be the primary breadwinner, always have to be strong, always have to lift and carry everything, have to look like a bodybuilder. Well these are worn out and outdated ideals. Sure if that is how someone wishes to be then it is good, but why should all people be expected to act the same way? Also, for men, it is still derogatory to be called "gay". This is bad for 2 reasons, it puts society pressure on men to act in ways which might be unnatural to them. It puts down people who do choose to be gay as a relationship preference.
