  1. Hermetic and Occult - Change?

Oh thank the many Gods that you didn't put Christianity in with hermetic! Nothing wrong with christianity per se, but it is a religion....
  2. If you had only one day to live...

Would teaching them necromancy so they can call me up later be cheating?
  3. What can feminism do for men?

The guy who talked about women being superior just naturally felt that way ever since a very young age. Personally I'm all about 100% equal, but hey everyone has their differing viewpoints. As long as everyone is respected I'm good. PS to all members do NOT PM me to tell me my viewpoints suck, you can do that in thread, if you can't post in a thread, well wait until you can, *then* tell me my viewpoints suck. Thanks . I think I'm starting to get cranky today, perhaps a 2nd meditation session lol.
  4. This guy sounds enlightened to me.

One of the exciting things about these interviews is precisely this "edit to add"! Many of these interviews were with people with no website, no nothing - they are really still finding their footing in it all. It is perfectly imperfect and completely chewy just like it spilled on the floor right out of the box. On the other hand - you have some stupendous teachers telling you the most intimate details of the experience as it happened to them blow by blow. You even have one guy who woke up at age 4 and has since always been awake 7/24, and he is only just now sharing his story with the world - he has no books - no videos - he has so far been completely accessible and free. (I don't wish to imply I have any problem with teachers charging money) Awesome . Some folks feel we are all awake when young, but then get brainwashed out of it. Interesting perspective too. Do you feel that this has always been the case, spontaneous awakenings by people who have never practiced, or it is something newer (in the past 50 or 100 years say)? I have always found it fascinating, the people who come in, already having perfect or near perfect recall of their previous life.
  5. This guy sounds enlightened to me.

Very awesome, thank you for this . One of my recent quandaries is whether a non cultivator or non-practitioner can suddenly become awakened. I have seen some folks end up with what people seem to call Siddhis, suddenly, but unfortunatly they often don't fare well since they aren't used to it, it isn't accepted in the place they live in and people they know, and they had no working up to it.. OK off to listen to the interviews. Edit to add: Apparently some scrolling is needed, it would be neat to hear what those who aren't trying to sell their several books on the topic have to say, just regular people (which is what I think is neat about the concept of the site, can find those who write books all over).
  6. What can feminism do for men?

As far as this forum goes, the thing is that the membership is 90something% male. Due to this I think sometimes folks forget that there are even any women members. It is much better now, but previously there was no way I could talk any of my female friends into coming on here. Me personally, I'm used to lockerroom talk, and the standard male dialog due to my martial arts practice and having worked in warehouses many years back. Most women aren't used to this. So anyways, I asked the guys at the magic meetup last night what feminism does for men. Well a couple of them said they prefer strong (as in personality) women. One went on about how women were the superior gender and he has known that his entire life, and he feels that men being in control for so many centuries just didn't work out so well, and he prefers seeing women in power now. His path is traditional witchcraft if anyone is wondering. Another of them said "it makes men better at lovemaking". I'm taking this to mean that both men put in more effort towards such things these days, but also women are more comfortable with asking for what they want. (I'm taking this from what he said afterwards and just knowing him as a person).
  7. What can feminism do for men?

Feminazi and feminist are unfortunately terms which get used to belittle someone (perhaps not intentionally even) who stands up for things being equal. Sometimes the person overdoes it sure, but namecalling is a good way to get someone to backdown and become more timid rather quickly. This is basically done to try to win an unstated argument, essentially. Only a select few women actually call themselves these terms as they are still considered derogatory. People in general who are used to being in charge or a position of power, get uncomfortable when someone stands up to them, so come out with such reactions. Women have terms to try to get men to step down from their position in a debate/argument/etc. as well... It is unfortunate.
  8. As long as it still has an O on the name, so you can use that cool yin/yang you made...
  9. What can feminism do for men?

I think that label is places upon us more often than we might place it upon ourselves. This might skew things...
  10. What can feminism do for men?

I always thought the men's empowerment groups were pretty neat. Empowerment in men's natural strengths and getting to know themselves and their inner workings better. Men's mysteries (as women have women's mysteries). Helps men to see their own true underlying power, instead of the false power which society tries to pigeonhole them all into. Or this is how it was explained to me by some men who liked such things. (others thought they were just cheezy). Sooooo feminism helps men in the sense that as women are busy finding their power, so are mean more encouraged to do so as well.
  11. Hmmm, now that is entirely likely!
  12. I would be really derailing this thread if I replied more fully to this . Though it *is* SotG's thread, so only derailed in ways I'm sure he would enjoy discussing LOL. Not MoPai related though necessarily... I would also definitely like to hear SotG's answer to this one... I would definitely say meditation is the best way to get that sort of wisdom though. It just sort of comes. Then you work with what came last time, and it goes more in depth and deeper the next time, and then on out. Though many say our wisdom comes from our mistakes, hardships and our challenges... this definitely rings true in a spiritual and energetic sense as well .
  13. I have found that after a time, you can do the same training in less and less deep states. I mean the training and results that you achieved in the deepest states. Or perhaps it is more like you get there just for a second, to kickstart it. Hard to put these things into words sometimes. I mean training this way for years. One can't always only save practice/work for the deep state times; sometimes it is needed in the moment. I feel that meditation, really deep states and etc. are the training ground which is required to be able to utilize the tools anytime .
  14. Hermetic and Occult - Change?

There is a local ceremonial magickian who shows up for our meetups each week, who tells us that there are no magical paths/traditions/practices which aren't hermetic, or at least based upon and founded on hermetic principals...... Why is there no facepalm smiley?
  15. Cursed from past lives?

Curses don't follow from lifetime to lifetime. Though we can curse ourselves (not in the black magic sort of way, in the more karma or whatever the heck one beleives in sort of way). So when you take the cleansing baths and so forth, just add in "and from past lives as well". When you cut the cords between you and the namepaper or the curse or the magician also add in "from all past lives as well". Btw, it is likely that the Satanic bible and demons and such brought up a lot of inner turmoil and unresolved stuff deep inside... when this comes up, it feels and is perceived exactly like a good strong curse, but essentially we are do it to ourselves as we work through stuff (especially if the working through is suddenly brought up much more quickly through some sort of magic work. Also there is the factor of being in a dark mindset (most folks feel that way about the satanic bible and demons) then doing some magic.... which opens up some portals and can light one up like a neon sign.... so it can attract some nasty stuff that likes to hang about because they have nothing better to do. Salt water the entire place, then frankincense after to get rid of any of this which may have happened.
  16. I vote for a rename. The word Jedi makes it sound like nothing to do with Taoism at all. Then the word school makes it sound like you are running a school. I think you would get way more people over there with at least the first part of the name changed . PS you heard of the Jedi religion? Some folks may think it is that...
  17. Hermetic and Occult - Change?

Where's the shamanism section? (though I hate that word, really I do, but you wise bums know the proper terminology).
  18. The good thing about people posting (what we feel is) off the wall stuff, is it makes us think. It makes us expand our viewpoints, even if just strengthening our own path. We no longer just follow our path, but think about it from many different angles, including those aspects which say we are incorrect. The bad thing is, we should all be meditating right now .
  19. Words of My Perfect Teacher

Doesn't a bit of the path/teaching get passed down with some of their... trying to find words for this... energy/karma/nastyness along with it? Or does that path work a bit differently, or does that sort of thing fall away with practice? On a side note, mostly off topic, and nothing to do with the comment above, just the title of this thread. I have been called a "perfect teacher" before. To me that is a warning sign, and I start talking about pedestals and falling off such things, and how they may be not looking at the reality of the situation .
