  1. Even when the teacher has learned the form in reverse and does it facing us, and we mirror and do the same.... I get confused lol No idea why (well I am dyslexic, but still). Did I mention all of my teachers have been extremely patient?! Ha, any of them ask you to teach the class your new technique? You just like to test and see if your teacher has a good sense of humor or not.... .
  2. and even dabblers who aren't dedicated... because maybe later they will be . I always hate to see a teacher only focusing on the most dedicated and talented of students and ignoring the others. Sure I can see why they do it, but perhaps just some more focus and attention instead of ALL the teaching going to those who are best at it. Actually I have nothing whatsoever against not teaching everything and keeping stuff back. However the basics aren't closed door at all. OK so perhaps some fine tuning specific to teach school might be, but not the few standard things everyone (or so I thought until recently) covers... But waiting until a student has been with you awhile, or that you can trust them, or you know they aren't going to run off and teach in their first year of practice, or go and post everything you teach on online forums, or screw themselves up because they aren't ready yet, or don't have the steps before something down... It all makes sense to me. Oh hell even if someone tells me such and such is for that school only, or not to repeat such and such to others; I'm good with that. They are being nice enough to share and teach with me, and they have to trust me somehow. I'm not as sure with martial arts, qigong and neigong, but I can give 100 reasons why only a bit is taught in public or at first with the magical arts. I figure some of the reasons or similar (make sure they are ethical enough to not use the art to go mug old ladies, keep students (and people they teach) out of the asylum, etc.).
  3. The "other" right hand . Fortunately as a student, I realized early on that mirroring doesn't work for me, so I would just go stand *beside* the instructor lol. Also fortunately none of them minded or said anything. That mirroring thing still confuses the hell out of me!!
  4. Hmmm, I suddenly think it is fortunate that I teach one on one LOL. I can see where they put their hands . I have heard stories from instructors who will be at the front of the class facing away, doing a form, in their mind imagining everyone is following along... then will turn around and realize they are all doing something entirely different LOL.
  5. The fundamentals of posture, tongue to the roof of the mouth, and clench the nether regions most definitely at least need to be repeated a few times during a 3-4 month class, IMO, no matter how little they are getting it, or how little they practice. Though I love the ones who do practice, a lot .
  6. Supernatural just means the closed minded folks don't want to acknowledge it exists, is all .
  7. Yep there are some of those, but I would figure that when they came to train with me, they still wouldn't get it, or remember later, or not be good at it, or whatever..... (this has happened multiple times btw).
  8. Resources

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but Andrew Nugent-Head sharing more of his awesomeness! Dao de jing translation project.
  9. Unfortunately most of the population thinks otherwise and falls for it. I have most often found that those who no one has heard of, who will never write a book, and who are not well known, can be the best teachers/know the most. Not 100% of the time, but enough that I have told people (in a nice way of course) "well the only real concern I have with training under you is that you are pretty well known and have produced a few books, I have always found in the past, most especially with magic, that the more famous someone is, the less they actually know and the less talent they have". I never mean it in a rude way, but it actually has been a concern in the past lol. Not sure how much it carries over with qigong and martial arts, but with magic... I have yet to see a famous author with even half as much power/knowledge as the unheard of folks where word just quietly gets around, and they want nothing to do with all that crap. Of course there is always exceptions to any rule...
  10. Gathering questions for an interview with Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson

Likes, and my personal favorites, and if a question looks like something which would be good for da bums .
  11. Gathering questions for an interview with Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson

Could just be a case of it being the last question and fewer people reading and voting on the thread by the time you posted it?
  12. Going to lock the thread in a few days, so get your questions and votes in now .
  13. Gathering questions for an interview with Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson

Soooo have any new books coming out? Videos?
  14. Questions for interview with Ching Sung

OK so, I contacted a few well known authors whom I highly respect, to ask if they would be interested in being interviewed by our forum members. I described the format, as well as mentioning that members would submit questions and that I would choose the 10-20 best ones (though I might do it by vote ) I also gave them links to the forum, as well as the interview section, so they would have more of an idea of what we are all about. Well one person replied, and his reply was quite interesting . I changed my name in the quote here. Well I wasn't quite expecting that, but it does sound fun . I feel the person in question has enough knowledge and experience (more than I am old) to definitely be able to answer our questions quite well. So since I couldn't list his books and bio in this case, I asked him what I should list as his expertise... I'll cheat a little and say he is well known in what he speaks about. (PS no it is not JAJ for anyone who might be wondering). So please reply with any questions you may have, and there is a very good chance he will be likely to answer them as long as they relate to the above. Since he is taking a bit of a different approach to this, I would say lets just have some fun with it. PPS, I just realized he definitely won't be getting any spare book sales from this lolololol.
  15. Questions for interview with Ching Sung

Here is the list of questions I have sent him 1. You seem like quite a traditionalist. On the Tao Bums we're mostly philosophic taoists (if that). What do we lose by not going a more traditional route? What lessons did you get from Taoists priests that we aren't exposed to on the secular side? 2. In many Ritualistic Practices there is an emphasis on working with Spirits and Deities while in many internal arts practices there is the emphasis that one should rely solely on our own efforts in order to grow spiritually. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and what is a preferable and balanced approach for the advancement of the individual practitioner? 3. As a martial artist how do you handle aggressive emotions and energies that emerge from the inherent intent and origins of the practice.....and how do you balance this with ones spiritual advancement? 4. What is the role of love and compassion in the traditional Daoist training you have encountered and are there any specific practices for developing these qualities that you have been trained in? 5. In Internal Martial Arts much is made of developing "Internal Power" as a pre-requisite to growing in skill. However can a practitioner whom has great physical skill but little internal power defeat someone with lots of internal power but only moderate skill? The distinguishing factors between these pieces is often left quite ambiguous....what is the active dynamic between internal power and actual physical skill/talent in these arts? 6. I would be interested to hear how the ancient training methods for development of the body differ from the modern? What exactly has been lost? 7. can you learn from books and DVDs etc. or do you need person to person training? 8 what kind of daily practice regime do you recommend for a beginner? 9. yin chi! Do we absorb it from the earth or the moon? DO we have to be grounded when me meditate to absorb it? is it beneficial to be grounded when you meditate? For example some folks make use of a copper grounding wire (similar to orgone and radionics) to enhance such things. 10. Have you come across any schools where you felt the training methods were more like the ancient styles, as you perceive them? 11. What characteristics would you look for in a good school? What sorts of exercises would they do? 12. Many of our forum members do practice some form of sexual retention, whether it be short term, long-term, or perhaps just 100 days at some point. How important do you feel this is to one's practice, and do you feel it is necessary? 13. If Ching Sung invokes/communicates with spirits, then I'd ask how he identifies them. There are some claims from practitioners as to what spirits and/or immortals they speak to and the practitioners maintain they will know the identities of the spirits/immortals. How? 14. I have noticed in my Bagua practice that the vortexes and circles tend to attract various things, and manifest others. How do you recommend working with this aspect of the art?

I have noticed in my Bagua practice that the vortexes and circles tend to attract various things, and manifest others. How do you recommend working with this aspect of the art? Thought I'd add one last one of my own .
  17. Ghost experts...I need you!

your wei qi is weaker when you are ill or tired, so less natural defenses to just bounce stuff off; you sense stuff more. Though that wouldn't necessarily explain your entire house.
  18. Ghost experts...I need you!

Sounds like a good cleansing would be in order. Positive and helpful spirits don't get booted out with cleansings, but the harmful ones tend to . Also having an active altar, and requesting/prayers to have any harmful beings escorted out, works really well too.
  19. Ghost experts...I need you!

If you get the sense it is hostile or a bad vibe from it, who cares if it needs your help or whatever, look out for yourself first. Salt water, or just plain salt can work wonders, but go by intuition on this. Then burn frankincense right after you do that. If it feels friendly and a good vibe, you could always try to talk to it (pendulum if you can't hear or "hear" them) and ask what is up. You could also, regardless of friendly or not, do the one thing that most folks never seem to think of for some odd reason. Out loud nicely ask it to please leave and go onto where it is supposed to be, as it is causing trouble in the house (hey it works sometimes!)
  20. Nah, wouldn't be appropriate I think. Also I still very much such at Bagua, qigong and such (newbie), so wouldn't be my place to name names and call folks who have been doing it for quite some time down. I just wish that more quality teachings would be passed down to our future generations... we lose more and replace it with poor practice each time this happens .
  21. Mixing of Jing

Btw, there are definitely a few folks who will have intercourse but not cum, and they have found that to work extremely well for their practice and Jing retention. Also talking with a TCM about this would help as they can assess your personal energy balances, as well as any lack thereof.
  22. Mixing of Jing

David, I would like to move your thread on over to the Taoist discussion section so that more SERIOUS practitioners might run into it, and give their insights... what do you think? PS stating your age and any health issues you have might help as it is quite relevant to your question.
  23. Hello all, looking for help with energy medicine gone wrong

Oh, oops, I never did click on my friend's links, I just always assumed they were his site. I'll PM you my friend's email addy. I was thinking more just undo the EFT stuff, or figure out what went wrong, then go onto something which works better for you. Unfortunate about the guy being rude; perhaps he needs to do some tapping stuff in his heart meridian? (I don't know how hit works, just making a joke based on what you said about how it works).
  24. Hello all, looking for help with energy medicine gone wrong

Get ahold of the guy who Michael who runs www.emofree.com www.eftrescue.com and tell him his Enochian friend said to get ahold of him. I'm pretty sure it would not cost for his advice.
