Cleansing and uncrossing work for everyone is good. Or just keep some fresh rue around .
  2. I like this suggested way of going about it . It doesn't put some over others, and gives everyone a chance to offer their teachings.
  3. Magick has nothing to do in Tao

Many magicians use such things as talismans. This might differentiate them? Though thinking back to the areas you live in Zeros, the folks there have used protective amulets over their door to protect against the witches/witchcraft, for centuries. Then there's those egg talismans folks have used at eostara/now easter, for centuries, but most never thought much of it past a good luck decorative thing. Or working with spirits, this may differentiate some? Though this can get confused with religious practices (there's a whole lot of Saints people call upon to help with various mundane things), and many Taoist immortals too. Then the ancestors, well one doesn't have to practice magic to leave some stuff (flowers etc.) out for them. I think it just boils down to some going about it in a more structured and/or fancy way than others. To get to wuwei, of course, since half of magic is working upon oneself and various meditations. Then there are also talismans and spirits which can help the magician to get there, if that is their thing.

Say whatever you want about MPG, I don't care, but do not pretend to know how he feels/felt about Jim and his reactions to his passing. He is just very private about his feelings, emotions, (practices) and so forth. (though I do recall him talking about how Jim was like a father to him and etc. on the forums). I don't blame anyone for not sitting down to get to know MPG, but if you didn't please don't assume how he thinks and feels.

In case no one has mentioned yet, TTBs has nothing whatsoever to do with that (or any other) site. Just a few members from here post there too, and one ex banned member started it.
  6. It would be quite awesome if more members would use the articles section and their PPFs to write teaching articles . I would be very happy to provide many sub fora for anyone's PPF if they are so inclined (and feel some organization might help the process).
  7. Magick has nothing to do in Tao

Wow good point about the mudras! Or star stepping Or just keeping certain things in mind. Or those 8 trigrams... Speaking of which, bbl .

I took it as a funny way to promote the alternate forums, and laughed . (pandas eat bamboo, get it? lol)
  9. Magick has nothing to do in Tao

There's another dude who's made it work quite well
  10. Space Panda Qigong banner ad

Hopefully this isn't too confusing; I merged the 2 threads... only need so many about MPG banners I figure .
  11. Space Panda Qigong banner ad

If every banned member bought a banner ad, perhaps we could afford some extra features.... such as unlimited people in chat .
  12. Magick has nothing to do in Tao

This guy makes it work somehow http://www.qigongmedicine.com/daoist-books/
  13. Only if I get to teach necromancy....
  14. Space Panda Qigong banner ad

I'm tempted to merge this with the other thread about MPG and his banners... but maybe I'll wait, so that it doesn't look like it vanished (either one of them). http://thetaobums.com/topic/34392-linking-to-other-forums-guess-which-one-piqued-this-topic/
  15. I have unfortunately found that those who are famous teachers are often (but obviously not always) more due to good promotion skills and politics, as opposed to being enlightened or extremely good at what they do. Now if we had a prerequisite of all folks posting as recognized authorities not advertising at all whatsoever, and not charging people for teachings, then I might be all for the idea. With as many google hits as this site gets, there have been times where it seemed like little more then a new way for folks and their students to promote themselves. I'm glad this is lessened. Every post starting with "my system...." or "my teacher..." gets old quite quickly. Also that whole board rule about how no one member no matter how awesome and enlightened they may be, having no say or power or authority over another rule would have to be completely thrown out the window to go with most of the suggestions in this thread. Instead I figure just having an enviroment with interesting enough conversation, true seekers, and quality enough members, that they would just want to hang around because it is interesting and there are those of like mind.... :>. /cranky Tech .
  16. As mentioned earlier in the thread, we do have many quality "teachers" on here already. They just don't see themselves as teachers, and it is likely that many of the membership miss it as well .

reminds me of the forming of taouncut! Hmmm, come to think of it, from what I hear, TTBs was a branch off too (though I'm guessing a friendlier one).
  18. I wouldn't want to ever have someone with only 5-10 years teaching experience be a certified official teacher. Do more harm than good in many cases when that new. Well also the idea to me just sounds like "new way to promote people's overpriced fancy retreats".
  19. personal practice page

It's all setup, have fun .
  20. I Sense a Coming Change At This Forum

Wouldn't just clenching the area cover this?
  21. rod of power

I played for a year, it was fun. My ex and I would play when we visited a couple of friends of ours. I don't enjoy watching TV, so upon seeing their D&D books I suggested it. I played Chaotic neutral (preist I think?) . Fits doesn't it?
  22. how to bring up this topic among friends?

Over time, it has just become that everyone I know is also a practitioner/cultivator. Even people I randomly meet, as soon as we get talking... .
  23. Personally there are 2 very well known and highly respected Taoist authors/teachers who I wanted to invite over. I never did though due to the far to many insults flying about in what seemed like most threads on the board for some time. I do feel I can invite them over now . Aside from the less insults, just inviting folks would work perhaps. Through keeping them around could be more difficult... I see Dr_D doesn't post often for whatever reason (I'm guessing lack of time). The thing with experienced teachers is that they tend to be very busy... teaching people.
  24. rod of power

  25. how to bring up this topic among friends?

Hang out with different/more people . I find that with some people the conversation always naturally goes in this direction, and with others it never does.
