So become a celestial immortal... sounds easy enough.... so what is step 1? (I never was one for small goals anyways).
-
Do I need to get my cane out for this conversation? Nope, never did read those. I didn't start studying/practicing till 89, and I was going after the GD stuff mostly at first (then a very quick turn into Enochian!) and Goetia studies. Are you suggesting I read them?
-
Not thinking and feeling as we do in our present not quite so enlightened ( ) state, would the celestial immortal care though?
-
Some folks say that when we get all further along the path and such (which sounds sort of celestial immortal like to me) that the part of us we think of as "ourselves" melts away; we are left with (or perhaps enhanced with) our spirit, or soul (these words are used so differently in different traditions that I lost track); also most seem to say that we lose our memory of said "self". Being too busy connected with the Dao and such for earthly worries and desires could be a very real possibility. One which perhaps could also include another person (since we would hypothetically be beyond the concept of separation - according to many teachings) would take a lot of pre-planning and work perhaps? I hope that makes sense; I think even I lost track halfway through .

There's a myriad of places between here and there though... Also many stories of immortals or other spirits being physical on this plane....
-
Neat .

Hey if they play their cards right, and that's their thing, being a messenger of one's favorite Deity might be exactly what they want .
-
Perhaps love and a bond like that, is the answer to your question .
-
Why do I doubt one would start out as a Deity? I figure you'd start a bit lower on the food chain and work up .
-
How would this be different than my mother who hung around me for a few years after she dies to make sure I was OK, then moved on afterwards?
-
There are so many stories about immortals coming to teach mortals though.... There are also spirits who seem to have not enough trouble coming to visit the living still....

I prefer to walk around the trees... Btw, if you receive threatening PMs feel free to report them by hitting the report button below. Threats are something which isn't tolerated at TTBs.

Hmmm, now that gets a bit tricky.... and keep in mind I'm at the point of logical reasoning and pontification, having never been there done that myself . From what I understand different systems, including Taoism, have fancy systems of where folks go after they are done here.... different folks go to different places for different reasons. So at a first guess, the 2 people would have to already be matches up in the where they would go in the first place sort of thing. Then I figure for some spirit to go further on, or to elsewhere to be with someone else, they would have to have been quite the advanced cultivator to pull it off, to not have forgotten who they are, and so forth. Or perhaps all they have to do is stop cultivating, then they would move on as a regular spirit? If they had gotten to the whole immortality thing without purifying themselves first, they might get stuck here, or to stuck within themselves and their own reality sort of thing. OK now time for someone who actually knows the answers to chime in . I was just taking some guesses based on a good pile of spirits I have met over the years....

I figured perhaps you were say thinking of practicing GD one day, and Keoting the next sort of thing.... glad you aren't going along those lines. PS, the GD borrowed quite a bit from Agrippa .
-
I'll also bet that oftentimes the teacher doesn't always use the word neigong/keikung when showing some of it .
-
It would likely depend a lot on what type of immortality you are talking about... physical, or spirit (but can still hang out here just fine). It would also likely depend on how you got there (to the point of immortality) as to whether you can move around.

Hold on a sec... EA Koeting and the Golden Dawn, are a far cry from one another (I mean in the which side of the abyss you prefer to hang out on sort of sense). I recommend one or the other (well actually I recommend just reading agrippa and working with that, but that is not the present topic, and you are I'm sure already confused enough lol), and sticking with that. Mixing GD and Koeting isn't a good idea IMO. Actually if you are brand new, unless you are REALLY drawn to the dark stuff to just avoid Keoting, especially if you want *less* odd noises and black smoke showing up at random, that you don't know the intentions of.

No, that is when you move, out of the house.

Wow, I agree with someone in the Hermetic section! 2011 posts? NEWB!!!!! -
#1 is much more difficult to master than #2 . PS I think you'd like the Hermetic section around here....

Bardon's watch your thoughts, be aware of your thoughts, always put a lot of thought and care into each and every thought, and writing. (though personally anytime things start to manifest for me I tone it down a lot )

It is generally best if you are new to NOT try to talk to them. I don't get the feel that you are strong enough on all levels for this sort of thing yet. Get a teacher. Yes I know you said you can't travel and have no money, but there are (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how one looks at it) many many teachers willing to teach for free online (most of them ceremonial magickians too).
