  1. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 53

The Tao seeks harmony so if the government has abundance and the common people have little then things are out of balance and is a failure, it goes against the way. To take from excess and give to what is lacking would be the correct action to regain harmony.
  2. I am NOT qualified to critique a Spiritual Tradition if..I am on the internet. BUT it would be really weird if we all used the same light to understand the world around us . Barriers would come crashing down, the unified principle that ties all together with a golden thread would unite us all and we would all work together to allow humanity to take its rightful place....The divine presence and responsible in this world BUT that is way to messed up for anyone to agree on.
  3. How does suffering come to be

Different ways of suffering, an alternative view. Someone reaches rock bottom and there is no way but up. Strange things are happening. The suffering is a lesson. Sip the bitterness and go through hardship, endure all that is. The stronger to adapt or suffer is a personal choice. Look trough a different window and see a new view. Up and down depend on each other. We can not wish the wind and tides to stop but we can navigate to safe harbors in the middle of a storm. Storms do not exist forever and I have nothing to do with that...... at all..
  4. How does suffering come to be

This thread is suffering I agree. Now I can see the pain that is possible. There was good times and great moments then just like that all gone. To live with out this thread is a heartbreak like no other. I will need to suffer for a while, while I come to terms with all that happens and passes
  5. How does suffering come to be

We could derail the whole thread and discuss how suffering is a good thing and how it can lead to something amazing,
  6. Mid-Autumn Festival confusion

We are all yin and yang chi, women outside are yin but internally very strong, yang, men are the opposite. We all carry the energies of yin and yang. The female ritual is done by females that is all that is mean by that. men have an extreme point of yang and woman have an extreme point of yin. keeping yin and yang energies in balance and in harmony is the goal.
  7. How does suffering come to be

That is the point I was making. Suffering can also be a good thing.
  8. The identity-less and purposeless thread

I have a special purpose. What is your special purpose? I remember a movie where Steve Martian discovers his special purpose.Forget what that was, does not matter. Back to the topic of being off topic my special purpose has nothing to do with the topic or not the topic I do not even use my purpose on purpose. It may seem a bit confusing but confusion helps lead to more confusion. What time is it? Who am I, how did I get here and where am I going. Any feed back would be helpful. Also what is the meaning of life and why should I always look on the bright side of life I hear those words over and over again in song form what is the purpose of that. So many questions so little time.
  9. How does suffering come to be

Nice picture, The White Horse Temple on Wudang have you been there? Living in a closed society is very different then living in the dust of the world of suffering. Hours of Kung Fu a day and the kids go through the hardest training ever, that could seem like very real suffering then the master completes the task with no effort at all.
  10. Mid-Autumn Festival confusion

2017 was the year of the rooster. There is a traditional legend about the festival. There are different versions, A long time ago, the sun god had ten children. Each day one of the children would take turns lighting the sky. One day when the sun god was away, all of the children went out to play together. Their combined light was too strong, and it scorched the Earth. Plants, animals, and people were dying. An archer named Hou Yi (后羿) climbed to a high mountain and shot down all but one of the children. As a reward, he was given the elixir of immortality. Before Hou Yi had a chance to drink the potion, his wife Chang E (嫦娥) took it. The potion caused Chang E to fly up to the moon. When she landed the elixir fell out of her mouth and became a rabbit. Chang E and the rabbit remain on the moon to this day. How to celebrate: Check out different versions of Hou Yi and Chang E legend. Which version do you like best? Was Hou Yi a good man? Why did Chang E take the elixir? And where did that frog come from? On the mid-autumn festival, people thank the moon for her light. In some parts of China, the moon is personified as the Moon Spirit (月神) or the Moon Lady (月姑娘). She represents the moon itself. This is different from Chang E, who just lives there. Families would build an altar in the moonlight and make offerings. Because of the moon’s powerful Yin energy, only the women in the family would take part in this ritual. Taoists celebrate the mid-autumn festival as the birthday of a deity called the Heavenly Ruler of Great Yin (太阴星君). In each temple, an altar would be set up with her image or a wooden placard with her name carved into it. Incense, moon cakes, and 3 or 5 plates of fruit offerings are placed on the table. In some temples, other things like rice, oil, alcohol, and tea are given as offerings. How to celebrate: Find a spot where you can admire the full moon. You can climb a mountain alone, or find a rooftop patio where you can drink wine in the moonlight with friends. Enjoy the light the moon provides.
  11. By silent contemplation this will become clear. I myself bear it constantly in mind; the doctrine, entering uninterruptedly, does away with all distinctions between life and death, and makes me one with Heaven and Earth. When the sense of sight is forgotten, the Light becomes infinitely copious; when the sense of hearing is annihilated, the heart becomes concentrated upon the Eternal Depths. If these two organs of perception be both forgotten, the man will be able to shut himself off from the allurements of the world—pure, guileless, and complete, in perfect unison with the Universe,—vast, limitless,
  12. Identity-less and purposelessness dilemma.

What really is a problem to us are our boundaries, the chains we set ourselves. Believing in one thing is not enough we must explore to know. When the strength is leaving our body, we get out of our comfort zone, and our concentration drops. Battling with ourselves to the limits will give rise to an internal conflict. Letting go of our ego and accept failure will resolve all problems we have of ourselves. Only to never give up is the goal of our struggle, giving us an opportunity to grow. The strength to continue is what masters seek in their students, giving them the hardship to strengthen their resolve to continue. This nourishing path is a path of internal development and forms true personality through unwavering discipline. What is so good in our life if we are never challenged? Nature always has to test itself to evolve. Self-conflict means the development of crystal clear focus on the essential things. If successful then the students have accepted everything in their heart, free from all burdens and only recognize their freedom. Make your purpose to find your true identity. Then you have identity and purpose. This could take a life time to achieve so no slacking off and giving into negative emotions. to solve e-motions get into motion and work it off. I am not being wise just my 2 cents. The op is worth more than money value. This is the least I can do .....no really it is the least I can do.
  13. How does suffering come to be

In some ways Taoist priests differ from other religions because they do not believe in suffering. They approach life joyfully, they “Go out of the world”. They practice the Tao and see destiny and their destination. They set up the goal of immortality and it is not easy to change that goal. They very strictly practice their principle of living. Only one principle: Man united with heaven as one – Tao united with nature. Final achievement is man united with heaven. They follow what is natural, the truth. They know they follow the truth so they are very stubborn. An expression for them is “Stinky Bull’s Nose”. If they know, if they believe it is true then you cannot change them. They believe and act based on: “You can take away my life, you cannot take away my spirit”. They are very straightforward – they never kiss anyone’s ass. Any desire, negative desire or emotion cannot turn them around. When they walk into the mountain they will never go home. This is what they believe and this is their only destination. Because of this they are very disciplined and devoted. Probably a lot easier to be Buddhist. They are able to go into the world and suffer, kiss ass and please everyone creating there own personal suffering.
  14. How does suffering come to be

The Taoist precepts are health, wealth and happiness. The energetic of suffering is invisible. When we put our mind over reality we are basically creating what suffering is to ourselves and attaching that to other be it a deer, person, situation. In reality when ripped apart from lions we do not feel pain unless we survive, then we heal and accept the situation we are left with and life goes on. If we never had extreme external wealth are we suffering. The media likes to show off wealth are we suffering because our lives do not have those material things unless you do not wear a Rolex and have to suffer with a cheap watch then I would have to agree suffering is a real thing as long as I can create suffering for myself or try to get rid of it. Sounds like a good time....not
  15. “If one is being blocked at the next barrier, one must maintain one’s condition and state, otherwise one will fall back to the beginning.” It is like an expired visa. The marrow pathway is travelling upwards, however is not the meridian pathway. There is a hole in the vertebra, which is the path of internal alchemy. It is connected with the nerve stem, the nerves of the brain and the meridians. It does not exist singly, as the nerve system is like a tree. It is called the ‘Hidden Stream’, the unseen flow of water, also known by the name of the “Yellow River”. This Yang Qi ascends up this pathway and goes straight above to Spinal Strait behind the Middle Cinnabar Field, as well as opposite the apex of the internal kidneys. It is extremely hard for Qi to ascend to this point. This is called the Spinal Strait Barrier. Furthermore rising to the back of the brain, it is called the Jade Pillow Barrier. These are the body’s three barriers. If one arrives at the border, one is asked for one’s passport and whether one carries any dangerous goods in the luggage. In Wudang Mountain one will come across the Three Heavenly Gates on the way up to the Golden Peak. Only when one opens the first gate, can one continue one’s climb. One’s spine is one’s ladder. During everyday life one prepares for this journey. The Gate keeper is extremely ferocious and powerful. There are tough examinations.
  16. The most obvious?

I told my wife she was penciling her eyebrows to high it should be most obvious but she looked surprised. Accessible knowledge that is clear and conspicuous in meaning. discernible from what is false. A distinct method evident to all ,noticeable, recognizable self-evident straightforward undeniable unmistakable visible and not visible but yet very obvious.
  17. Ignorelist and quoting

Now this is some high level transmission. No words needed at all. This I totally get and agree with. Deep bow
  18. Ignorelist and quoting

Wait just one minute.............Marblehead said "talk about contradictions" is that some fancy word for calling me a dick!!!!!! I might not be a ivy league graduate but I am not stupid. I should have quoted him how ever you smart people do that then everyone could see what he said to me. Two words come to mind right now to say to that MH but I will stay on topic and use just one word for now......IGNORE
  19. Ignorelist and quoting

Marblehead just told me to use contraceptives when I talk. Sorry I cracked you up. I hope you feel better and get well soon. I find hallmark cards have great sayings that are family friendly so I like to use them as much as possible. But I am being sincere. I just googled creams for cracking maybe shea butter will help and I am so sorry I did not intentionally want to do anyone any harm.
  20. Greatest Daoist masters?

All the methods taught at the temple are meant to help all living beings, to be in service to others, and to help others open doors. Studying methods is a serious issue, and the methods transmitted should not be used for performance or game. Pay attention to teach in a peaceful environment, with pure thoughts, so as to transmit a pure energy field. In order to teach, you need to start teaching from the foundation. Teaching high level content to a beginner would be like erecting a high building on sand, and may lead the student into crooked paths. Do not mix the contents, methods and principles of Chi Gong Healing and Inner Alchemy Cultivation with other contents, methods and principles taught in other places. Contents that were transmitted secretly to individuals can not be taught. I support all teachers that transmit according to these requirements. These are the greatest Taoist masters of all time
  21. Ignorelist and quoting

I am very comfortable with diversity. That is why I like to travel and go to the city. So many different people from different cultures this makes me relax and blend in. This forum makes me very uncomfortable because we have the same interest and are way too much alike. There maybe different view points of the same thing and I do not want to hear about it.
  22. Ignorelist and quoting

I am just going to ignore this quote.
  23. Ignorelist and quoting

I have everyone on ignore. When someone quotes me I just ignore it and never respond. I am mostly interested in myself and not other opinions. Once I tried to break the TDB forum by telling someone I was wrong,
  24. hello and question

Let it flow, get out of the way, be mindless, no agenda, be who you are and know you are awesome and do not settle for less. All negative energy or attempt to beat up on yourself is gone, vanished to dust. The methods are what is happening already nothing to achieve, just be conscious, aware of the beauty and peacefulness and suchness. Once the mind is tranquil, peaceful and at home all is done. Go home, the center of the compass and let all teachings be a verification of achievement, it is yours and not an outside authority.
