What was your original face before your mother and father were born?

There is only one way the laws of yin and yang apply and that is the physical universe, matter, a matter of fact. So what and the world am I talking about when I say they do not apply Hint it is not physical, maybe demi physical, has no mass but a direction.

You are missing the point I have shown the activities of the logic school with in Chinese culture starting with Mozi and the application of Feng shui and the logic school the logic school is present in Taoism but they lost the battle of world view in favor of the princible of Lao Tzu school of thought. The opposite happend in the west with the Greeks and the rational, logical mind to understand the world around them. Your dear professor I do not disrespect. I am saying it is off key to actual development BUT now he is participating in Tai Chi Chuan after doing Karate his body will gain knowledge that he can apply to the philosophy of Taoism. You pose a question in the OP but it seems to be preconceived because you already have an opinion that the logical approach is the best way and should be more of it.There I totally disagree.

OK so now you understand that the method of logic trying to figure out Taoism is not the best tool for the job. This professor is using logic conditioning and not transcending mind itself. Any act can be verified by the mind This allows for unholy things to come into being and also mis directing humanity being divine in true nature Transcending the simple function of mind and its battle with duality. This is not logical for the human mind to rationalize. So scholars that dabble in the arts even, using logic as foundation will not be able to penetrate the mystery. The great mystery can not be comprehended by mind, the laws of yin and yang do not apply, life and death do not apply, space and time have no reference point. Sooo this logical method in my opinion will tie one down or like holding on to a heavy rock and trying to swim to the surface Put down the rock IMO

Professor should sum up the position of scholar if that is what you are referring to in checking out

With out conflict we would not be able to walk with two forces moving in opposite directions. once we are unified there is harmony

Yes I watched it the first time posted. knowledge without application leaves one in the position of a scholar as we can see represented thousands of years ago with Chuang Tzu and Confucius.

Formal logic in China has a special place in the history of logic due to its repression and abandonmentâin contrast to the strong ancient adoption and continued development of the study of logic in Europe, India, and the Islamic world. In China, a contemporary of Confucius, Mozi, "Master Mo", is credited with founding the Mohist school, whose canons dealt with issues relating to valid inference and the conditions of correct conclusions. However, they were nonproductive and not integrated into Chinese science or mathematics. Now to use logic it is logical why a group such as Mo pie would credit Mozi as some kind of pretend lineage due to the involvement of doctors and scientist to prove something. This ploy was meant to be attractive to the west due to the importance of logic within the culture. Many westerners who try to understand Taoism and chinese culture will try to adopt a form of logic to understand with pages and pages and pages of information. IMO

The Art of Chinese Feng Shui originates from the abstruse and profound Taoist Yi Jing. The Yang Abode is an essential part of the Chinese ancient art of Feng Shui, Wind-Water. It has been transmitted for a very long time, thereby past generations inferred and deduced its applications and formed its very complicated system. Schools are intricate; there is a division into the âLaws of Formâ and the âLaws of Logicâ. The laws of form belong to the topographical school, which lays stress on the natural geography, such as by examining and differentiating all the individual aspects of the eco-system, the landscape and many other factors, as well as methods that resolve issues by corresponding to the geographyâs acupuncture points and the architecture of the Yang Abode. Diversely, the laws of logic and the laws of time fall under the discretion of the logic school. It emphasizes the direction and points of the compass, the orientation, the auspicious and inauspicious timing its prohibitions, however it does not attach much importance to the geographical and environmental factors. In regards to the Feng Shui of the Yang Abode, the Yang Abode refers to the place where people reside, where they return home to after going out. Therefore the environments of lodging places are not identical; there is the cityâs Yang Abode, the wilderness abode, the mountain and the valley abodes. The focus of the Feng-Shui of the wilderness, mountain and valley abodes is associated with the laws of the form, attaching importance and taking advantage of the surroundings and the natural environment; whereas the Feng-Shui of the cityâs abode places its attention on utilizing the laws of logic.

Life is not always logical, there are no absolutes, to confine oneself with the chains of logic we would miss out on a lot of amazing things . Logic is a tool of the mind it is necessary to use the right tool for the job and then put the tool down. If we apply philosophy in daily life then it is not just a bunch of mind chatter needing pages and pages and pages of explanations. IMO

islam and Salam combined is actually salami traditionally made with christians later changed to pork by the christians then changed back to christians and the cycle continues. No matter what recipe people always want a peace of salami. Breatharians will actual smell salami as some kind of aromatherapy at the higher levels. vegans prefer salami made from cows because of the cows vegetarian and raw diet. Vegans mostly envy the cows molars for chewing and several stomachs to consume the diet of a vegan. .

Form of meditation of Lao tse and Chuang tse
Wu Ming Jen replied to wandelaar's topic in Daoist Discussion
The method of nei gong is transmitted by Lao Tzu and Chuang Tzu books and is why we discuss them today. To become acquainted with nei gong practice today one should consider becoming a Taoist priest. The scriptures hold the most valuable information and are not accessible to the uninitiated. High martial skill and mastery of the physical plane is the foundation. Deep meditation, fasting and minimalist survival techniques in seclusion with nature inforse demanding discipline. Few can endure the training necessary to reach high gong. Most are content with superficial knowledge and call it a day. -
We are experiencing an empty nest the kids are grown and have their own places. I am not sure why I still have most of their stuff in our house. I ask them to move their stuff so I can fill the empty space with new stuff. They could rent an empty square to put their stuff in but they all say Dad the perfect square has no corners stop putting my life in a box I am young and free from stuff.
-
Square earth: square in this case means things with form, shape and color . Round heaven means without form, shape or color So a perfect square has no corners because inside and outside of the square is limitless. When we build square things like a house the emptiness is useful.

Using Shen to change negative thought patterns
Wu Ming Jen replied to Bindi's topic in Daoist Discussion
The Yuan Shen is original spirit; it does not recognize time or place. The Shi Shen is intelligent spirit. At the beginning of human life there is no existence of a Shi Shen or intelligent self. When humans learn the access to the material world this gives birth to the Shi Shen. Humans are meant to evolve from the innocence of a newborn baby, to the intelligence of youth, and on to the wisdom of the peak power of the Shi Shen. At the same time Shi Shen is evolving, Yuan Shen starts from a birth of spooky capabilities and evolves towards numbness or unawareness of its true ability in most people. Yuan Shen and Shi Shen are like master and servant living in the same room with their position and power changing all the time. The wise man learns to be a dummy and the intelligent man fights for an empty statue of âself.â Sometimes Shi Shen says things that may conflict with the Yuan Shen. That is, the mind conflicts with the original spirit. The Yuan Shen however, never gives up on the pursuit for purity. The original spirit is kindness, which we never give up. However; the Shi Shen sometimes contradicts this original spirit. The Shi Shen may not allow the Yuan Shen to speak or act freely. We must learn to live and let live! Live and let live is equal to unconditional love. Once you are able to love unconditionally then you will break out of the cycle of living in the expectations of others. Learn to forgive yourself of being a victim. Only then can you overpower your pains and aches. Stupid people look for perfection in themselves, others and the world. Life is not perfect! If you always try to defend yourself for being a victim, then you are already a victim again. There is no need to defend yourself! Give up the will or desire to âwin.â Give up the fear of death. There is no need for offense or defense. Life is merely a puzzle. Welcome your opportunity to solve this puzzle. Always look for the other side, the dialectic side of "me". If you can know one side of âmeâ then you can know other side of "me". Strive to understand the opposite of what you are feeling. However, always be consistent to what you believe. Walk The Talk! What you believe can change but until then, walk the talk for what you believe today! Do not blame and become a victim. -
Are hot soups the best meal to have to build Qi?
Wu Ming Jen replied to Phoenix3's topic in Healthy Bums
Well take care of body first before you get confused about semen. If there is little food to process digestion is not a topic. Now if we are talking about swallowing semen I understand some relevance to a soup topic.I hear it is very salty. -
Are hot soups the best meal to have to build Qi?
Wu Ming Jen replied to Phoenix3's topic in Healthy Bums
Bone broth is the beginning of soup. This will replace and replenish the flora of the digestive system if stripped away by antibiotic use or poor health. Marrow is extremely beneficial. energy conversion is quick and easy for digestion to absorb. Abstinence from grains means fasting and rules apply. Be thankful to eat. Digestion begins in the mouth the more food is broken down and transmuted by sylvia the more beneficial food is to our bodies. Intention of what we have to eat as a positive thing has an energetic effect. -
The way of disappointment is expectations and the preconceived thoughts that go along with it. The beautiful thing about the Tao of Chi is that it is also the invisible world we live in. Tao and Chi can not be seen it is there but not there. Our whole existence is there but not there, being, non being, existent, nonexistent. To see Tao maybe try not to limit our views. We all experience the formless energies around us, we can feel it. Tao makes a direct impact on our survival . We can harmonize with the internal and external energies in and around us by steering thru our space and our time. We are traveling directly to the unknown the homeland of nothing whatsoever, exactly where we came from. We do not need to leave our true home while we are alive in this body. We spend a lot of time on things that perish and very little time investing in the eternal world which is us .The true self comes back home. The value of Tao cannot be measured because it is also what makes things able to be measured.

Mantak Chia - Looking For A Clear Picture
Wu Ming Jen replied to Steven King's topic in Systems and Teachers of
The bed chamber arts are a side door (error) and nothing to do with dual cultivation. The great earth, mountains and river are all familiar; everywhere is oneâs home, fields and gardens. One is travelling, enjoying the sights, and sojourning anywhere. At the time of retrieving and entering stabilization after coming back, when the Yang Spirit also takes the material body, the body with form, as its bedchamber, room, and house, then you know there is a true âYouâ inside this body, and that all the others are fake. Let the resident return, let the infant return into the interior courtyard and the central palace, i.e. the Cinnabar Field. Making the error of vitality as sexual energy is the worst mistake and this teaching has caused much harm leading to the wrong path, crooked side roads and side doors. The student becomes lost and not able to return to the true home (insert sad face) On the up side sex sells, If we would like commercial success, misleading others for profit sex sells. Many techniques mentioned in Chia seeds books are from authentic lineages that are not interested in bastardizing the methods or providing no guidance,no direct transmissions from masters that have authenticated each step of the way. -
Using Shen to change negative thought patterns
Wu Ming Jen replied to Bindi's topic in Daoist Discussion
Jing, Chi, Shen we call them 3 but are 1 energy that we are all born with. Energy has no physical location, formless this goes beyond the physical world. The three treasures are merely associated with a physical location, the elixir fields that are not separate functions. We are in fact the master of our own emotions and thoughts. The shen is the divine commander. Everyday life, emotions, thoughts and reality we create in the dust of the world can drain the Shen. The work is to nourish the Shen (postnatal) good life style, food, water and air. emotions should cycle throughout the day when we hold on to one emotion this is trouble. Thoughts should come and go and be sure to act on beneficial information. Holding on to one thought over and over again is trouble or means we need to act if beneficial to eliminate the annoyance. If you have any negative thought patterns just repeat delete, delete, delete and banish them from your mind they are meaningless and not worth any of your time. Let's say emotional and mental balance increases with intent and will power. We can attract a higher Shen to us. I suggest to look at the work as if you had no body but care for body like the earth cares for all things without caring in a preconceived way. It would be difficult to have any known problem without a body. -
What's the use of schools and lineages within Taoism in the Modern World?
Wu Ming Jen replied to wandelaar's topic in Daoist Discussion
The word Jen means humanity. The Tao is for humanity there is no division of the many faces of humanity or geographical location of humanity or specific of genders of humanity. The Tao is not a subdivision that separates humanity. I know for 2500 years the west has broken away from the polar complete world view and introduced many harmful things against humanity that is why it is hard to understand with western programming of mind the depth of what is given to make this world a better place. The realty of no division. In our bones we know the true value. -
What's the use of schools and lineages within Taoism in the Modern World?
Wu Ming Jen replied to wandelaar's topic in Daoist Discussion
The modern long linage schools are very old yet present today. Living arts make this possible. my lineage is unbroken for only 600 years so in context it is modern. The knowledge of its foundation is from 5000 years written and 8000 plus years of prehistory. Why in the world are we discussing and practicing these ancient methods in the first place in the year of 2018. Maybe these arts transcend time and are always of value and apply to the modern times. Being, non being what does that calendar look like. Beyond the laws of yin and yang we reach the eternal a well that never runs dry. If ancient and modern have not reconciled their difference there is no birth. A proper education from a long lineage school might help to understand. -
On Wudang the kids are from poor families and they are welcome. Given housing, food and training in trade for become a coach. by the age of 20 they have been training for 8 hrs a day with 1/2 day wed and full day thursday off. Hard work and dedication to obtain skill. Rich poor, tall short, wise dumb, hermit social butterfly, married celibate, in a cave in a city, this and that, that and this sometimes right some time left. the ability to be round or square at any given moment, beyond the dust of the world and in the dust of the world at the same time, A closed society the exceptional value of life, gold seems cheap and worthless, image is false and pure deception, the wealth of true value has no form and is limitless, chase after the temporary and material aspect of life and always be poor no matter what wealth one may have. The material life needs and the spiritual life needs of life are equal and rely on each other. Return to simplicity . My lineage is 16 th generation longmen pai dragon gate wudang shen. If one can last just one month of training I would consider discussing with that person how traditional lineages have wandered from the source.
