In difference there is sameness. Lao Tzu's empty Tao is very similar to Shankara's Brahman, which is said to be without any quality (nirguna) and ontologically real. It is significant to note that in the Upanishads Brahman is sometimes described as "non-being." But Shankara explains that it does not mean that Brahman does not really exist, for it actually denotes the "substance" previous to its differentiation into "names and forms" (namarupa).19 The empty Tao, sunyata, and nirguna Brahman are similar in that they are empty of any quality, but they differ in their nature of "existence" or "non-existence." Each claims that human language is inadequate to describe the nature. There is however one important point that makes Lao Tzu's Tao radically different from the others. According to him, the empty Tao is also the dynamic source of the universe, and the myriad things are not illusory. Shankara and Buddhism in general cannot accept the seeming paradox that something can be empty, ultimately real, and at the same time the dynamic source of the universe in time and space. In the West, the philosophical discussion of ultimate reality is focused on the conception of God, which has been formed under the influences of the Judaeo-Christian tradition and Greek philosophy. There are many basic assumptions in the Western conception of God that are not shared in Lao Tzu's thought. Three important ones may be mentioned here. First, God is conceived as a Being or some "substantial" existence. Second, He is believed to be ontologically different from the nature of the universe. Third, He is said to be in some important sense "personal" in essence. On these basic assumptions, there are many philosophical problems that are peculiar to the Western discussion of philosophy of religion.

This is one of many from Master Liu; I Ming Relevant to true Nei Gong or life and death solving methods which I believe is the topic of this thread or maybe not who knows or really cares. The Moon Borrows the Sun's Light The moon is originally pure yin, without yang—it only gives off light after borrowing the sun's rays. The waxing and waning of the moonlight depends on the position and proportion of the sunlight. What I realize as I observe this is the Tao of borrowing yang to transmute yin. The human body is originally pure yin without yang—it must borrow the yang of other to become yang. "Other" means everything other than oneself—sky and earth, sun and moon, myriad beings, myriad things. The so-called "yang of other" is the primordial open unified energy, which is the undying human being. This energy is innate, but as it mixes with acquired conditioning it gradually gets scattered among the sky and earth, sun and moon, myriad beings and things, and is not one's own anymore, belonging to other. If you know this energy is in other, and gradually steal it back to return it to self, restoring the existence of the nonexistent, regaining what had been lost, that is like the moon shining by borrowing the light of the sun. This is the celestial mechanism of taking over Creation and reversing yin and yang.

Like children stamping their feet, crying for attention, something to prove, division upon division, us against them, belief of superiority or authority so many errores on the way, The so many fundamental mistakes shown just keep adding up and the agenda being pushed looks worse with every word. I would not consider any level of achievement too many mistakes or just plain ignorance of basic principles of cultivation. The best part is having a comparision as such it points to the true way or at least makes it more visible when we are talking about the formless

Erroneously called internal alchemy have nothing to do with Taoist internal life and death solving methods. Taking over creation, No form, no image, just Like stated in a few sentences from the book intro above. otherwise it is a waste of time. To penetrate the mystery,,,,, the great image is imageless,

Like you say virtue is more important like a hand dropping it follows the shoulders without the root of earth and the suspension of heaven it is weak . That my freind is high alchemy that you describe.

Nei gong is practiced in conjunction with physical discipline. The unifying principles relate to stillness and motion. In the beginning physical manifestations of principles dissolves the barriers of mind giving a background for the shining mind to become commander in chief like a kind minister directing orders. The acquired self and ego in command scatters energy and what can be manifested into reality into chaos hurting self and others. ( it is lopsided) Rules and tenets build good character that is beneficial to self, others and all living things, one with the way, not opposing the way knowingly or unknowingly. Peaceful and tranquil mind, moving from this center there is no error. Many of the written classics are merely describing experience or pointing the way. A master can point but the disciple must pass through the heavenly gate. The true master is within. The kind sages who wish to save this world from its own self, to stop destruction and give back the power of the creative and receptive born as one within oneself is a selfless act. This helps all of humanity to realize their true self the divine origin and organization of all that is. When self or systems has an agenda and desire to be the best superior in any way that alone is a major mistake in development of the true nature.

No one is doing John Chang any good by mentioning his name. Chang made a mistake and it ruined his career which is sad. I personally feel bad for Chang his abilities should have remain in the shadows and not on a public platform. I am not allowed to mention my teachers names or go public with what we practice because then I would be in Chang's position and basically disappear forever. Chang's few students have basically caused a loss of face for Chang. I have no title on the internet because it is not appropriate, not professional, when years of dedication is required by a student that one knows personally for years to learn true Nei gong. On the flip side this is my entertainment and hope some vague contributions and incites to the practice are helpful to others. No details of practice have even been brought forth to comment on.

Just like most of the other daoist traditions, wudang daoism way significantly influenced by the longmen pai tradition, the dragongate lineage of Qiu Chu Ji, who started with its characteristical task to preserve the chinese culture. To practice of any field of wudang daoism will bring the basic knowledge about all or at least many other fields of study in wudang daoism. Universal principles and systems, like the polarism of yin and yang, the five elements and eight trigrams, form the typical systematic interdisciplinary strucutures of wudang daoism. It is profound and holistic and its practitioners were always seeking for the universal way of cultivating themselves. Professionalism on certain fields was known, but avoided when it constricted ones mind. Ideals were always naturalness and a holistic approach.

You are the Truth - a poem about non-duality
Wu Ming Jen replied to Shanmugam's topic in General Discussion
I like it, that is a very nice poem. Transcending body, mind, time not identifying with the limited things that defines us as who we are( in a very narrow view.} The freedom allows us a perspective and a larger picture beyond a lifetime of conditioning. The separation and definition creates borders and does define us but the boarders also brings us together because borders are shared. The emptiness allows for all possibilities, undefined like an uncarved block full of potential and never limited. our boarders may be shared but who can live beyond all borders, not separate and truly see all things as one or as they really are.
