South pointing compass, South is correlated to summer, fire,advance, expand, ward off relating to the energy and manifestations. North is winter, water, retreat, condense, roll back. East is Spring, wood, look left, growth bending and rising. West is wood, autumn, metal, gaze right, cutting, Earth is center which gives rise to directions and the basis for seasonal energetic changes and elements dynamic changes. Yin and yang can be confusing because it is in relation to something. We could say front of body, yin, can be protected. Yang, back of body, exposed. then to contradict that we can say Back of legs, yin can be protected (fold your legs together),front of legs yang exposed. Inside arms yin can be protected (again fold arms)outside arms yang exposed. Left and right... left, wood, yin compared to right, metal, yang or right yin trapping redirecting compared to left side striking or Pressure (force)on left side of the body yin emptying compared to yang right side filling up.

In my opinion chinese buddhism was soaked in taoism from the start. At first buddhism was an external foreign system and latter accepted as it was blended at Shaolin and the culture welcomed it (Awakened human). Chan was born and zen developed by means of a mens club wearing their meditation cushions out staring at walls(just saying). In the north respect goes to Shaolin in the south Wudang. To separate Shaolin and Wudang would be a mistake to this day the connection remains. Black tiger cave on Wudang is a Shaolin sect. Chang San Feng mastered Shaolin before coming to Wudang and Taught by a taoist sage. Internal methods are inherently Taoist that predates buddhism arrival in China. Religious Taoism may have been in response to buddhist having a formal religion.

I have never heard of temple style Tai Chi or so called tai chi tao and I hear alot about Mo Pai on this site giving out misinformation. You can learn all kinds of outside movements but when it comes to alchemy on Wudang it is only taught by transmission from Master to disciple and most students don't even make it that far in training, there is no chance of becoming lost or confused. Once you get the feeling of energy rising up the spine on inhale and falling down the front with exhale get rid of concentration and visualization or leading this energy. You don't need that tool any more. Get a good feel for the descending channel even tilt 5% forward. Too much energy staying in the head region meaning too much attention,concentration of something that is already occurring completely natural just be aware of your energy that's all. When I look out without judgment and not tangled in emotion, am I dead or Alive? Using Taoism to understand religion is awesome. I saw a movie and one of the characters was an immortal Taoist, in the future he became a christian priest. When another immortal captured in a painting for 500 years was called to "put down the bad guy" he was wondering why his friends jesus was not able to do the job,sounded like the perfect guy.
