Everyone post some favorite quotes!

post reminds me of the shining mind of tao always present and then how this can "sink" as self mind "rises" takes over. The host becomes the guest and the internal government is set out of order. Self mind is like a cruel general ordering things around from a distance. The shining mind is like an enlightened leader. one mind is just a tool and should be put away when not needed but loves the lead role. Light up the dark mind of self then that which sinks out of consciousness floats to the surface of awareness that which floats to the surface sinks now internal government is set in order and there is peace. Edit forgot to mention all the awesome stuff written on this thread glad I stumbled on it. I love to read yes attachment and addicted to learning two major mistakes along the way. -
Is your Buddhism just an ego trip?

Suffering, first clue maybe -
Heaven rains down and impregnates the earth with life. Heaven is not kind but shows true kindness. Earth does not care but cares for all things. Doughnuts are from heaven and earth getting it on. A master Chef does not boil water, fire boils water.

Master says to student,do you know where you came from? Student replies,I don't Know. Master says then you do know.Student/ What do you mean? Master/ You are telling me you come from the unknown. Student/ I do not understand. Master/ What is there to understand about the unknown, it just is. Years latter student reaches realization. Master ask the same question to another student and student replies I don't care Master says you have potential. What is your original face before your mother and father were born?

What principles do all Taoists hold in common?
Wu Ming Jen replied to thelerner's topic in Daoist Discussion
The spirit of nature shows us everything we need to know. The fact that water sinks and fire moves up are not mental concepts it just is and we can use the same principle to understand other things. When we get involved in preconceived ideas and mental concepts ie putting our own thoughts over nature the trouble begins. For me it is the principles that is the glue that which works, effective, true and so on. Extreme heat on the human body produces a numbing effect. Extreme cold causes a burning sensation so the mentalist thinks this can not be right. I will prove there is something wrong with mental perception and here it is.... man is not the measure of all things. -
Has the West been brainwashed by the Vatican/Church to not meditate?
Wu Ming Jen replied to a topic in Welcome
God has the power not you, the power is not you. only a holy man can put you in touch, you do not have cell service, no signal, It would be difficult for a two world, dualistic belief system, religion to teach true meditation. What would the meditation be? you're not worthy and can not understand so leave it to god, How do hindus have yogis and meditation when they started this two worlds thing ( but with a nature connection still intact)? Buddha seemed to find out it that the Hindu system does not work. Enlightened human WOW that may work to save humanity from itself.. It might say thou shall not kill in the bible but that maybe where the killing begins. It is hard to take advantage of people and control masses for self interest but its working out for a small percentage of people. can you imagine peoples reaction to our current un natural systems for humans to live UNDER. Oh thats right lao tzu wrote some things down. -
When I was in China on our return trip from Wudang two young girls met at us at the train station, got us a cab, transferred us to the subway and then got us to the airport in Beijing..They were very important and did a great service., At the airport I tried to pay them and they would not take the money, A chinese speaking american at the airport helped us translate. The girls did not take the money and the American helping us explained accepting would be like being a beggar and loss of face. The fact that we were very thankful and we had great respect for them in helping us out was like giving them great wealth, Fun facts while in China - the girls were holding hands, friends hold hands, male or female There is no such thing as personal space we all share the same space. Even driving other cars yield and make space for you. The constant honking is to say here I am, not the american version of road rage and screw you. Realized I live in a fear based society in America. In China everyone takes care of each other especially kids. The lack of crime, cops not wearing guns, So many situations while traveling showed how societies with fear of god, man against nature and so on is a horrible psychological disease. People in china seem to love america,

The boat is your body, the river is life ( flowing), the cliffs are the hights you want to attain, the horse is an illusion of what one thinks is above the cliffs, The horse simply goes out of view. Seeing the horse or not is a source of argument. did it exist or not. who do you need to convince of that? The great image is imageless, high and low is a relative perception being in the valley. Life moves on but we are not going anywhere we are already here, we never left

Looking for tips on how to stop looking for tips

You sound very balanced to me,practical, taking care of what needs to be done at the time. I have been enjoying Turning the Light around for practice. Just bringing the awareness inside, no effort, all things empty of attachment and having a good sound feeling, then I get back to my very busy and full of responsibility position. At this time the method helps me keep my mind still in a busy environment and I tend to make good decisions which shows up financially. -
Not doing the right thing is the punishment, aware or not, mind can verify any action but the energy or intent of the action can be seen before it becomes manifest and the return is set in motion before the action or thought shows up in the physical world. The reflection, echo or shadow effect takes place. Power. profit, greed, fear these type of things are all mistakes to be moved into action by and it happens every day in America, Profit before human and planet health like Monsanto food chem lab,That energy feild and ones like it make it very uncomfortable in this society and its not the common real people of america that suck, Its that damn sick energy field of of self interest I maybe able to live in this world and outside of it at the same time but I am concerned for others unaware. Do you every feel like some beings around you are just ghost and the light has just been sucked out of them.

The Ultimate Tao, In One Simple Statement
Wu Ming Jen replied to LBDaoist's topic in Daoist Discussion
not yet born, before beginning began to begin,Empty yet not empty, the void of the beginning and end of all things. seems to exist yet does not exist, contains this and that, yin and yang but is not effected. Pure that can not be made more or less pure. Oh simple statement, Home Sweet Home -
I admire Master Lu 117 year old Ba Gua Master, You can see him move on you tube.Living comfortable threw ones natural years is priceless. Immortality is not living in the body forever it can be just knowing where you came from and where you return.Weapons are nothing but an extension of oneself you can attach fear or whatever to them.Turning the sword around it now becomes spiritual and no wrist or joint problems in the physical body. When things only live in mind is only half so I complete with physical reality and all natural laws that govern movement.

Thank you sharing, Wudang Shan rules. I lived there for a while practiced kung fu 7 hours a day/. Tai Chi is the physical expression of Taoist philosophy. One can not move forward with out pushing off the back leg physically. forward and backward complete each other and are linked together, as are all true polar complete opposites, birth and death so on We are in the state of Tai Chi once we have a physical body. We prove Taoist philosophy physically to ourselves, Longevity living in our body comfortably well into old age is the goal.Met many old people with incredible skill, martial skill, no ego, refining the self, just incredible and peaceful. Sorry to see the thread turn into a blood bath with such a beautiful topic.

I can not recognize things unless I am related to them in some way. I can be as steady as a rock, as fierce as a tiger, round or square at will, I can be extremely violent or completely peaceful at any moment..

I Have studied in China only recently foreigners were accepted as students. Even in the states it takes at least 3 years for a master to know you and your character/ moral standards and feel good about passing on the transmission. There are definitive rules to who you teach based on virtue and many things about our own personalities. This is based on my own experience.

Now we are getting closer to some truth. In difference there is no difference..

Looking at genetics there are very very small differences in race.look at your environment are you white and pasty from living in the snowy north or dark from lots of sunshine or hairy because you live outside. We are all humans but those who judge can say we are not the same. superficial? fear, violence, separation, distinctions these things are for mortals who forgot where they came from.

Enlightened human, the power is not given to something outside of ourselves. The gods / deities in the east are actual humans that are living and have lived to inspired us to not be animals but divine humans and be responsible for everything in this world. Interesting to know that god in the east means unified mind. Humans can not agree to partial truths or lies. water flows downward. fire flames up it is not a mental concept it just is .Mentalist philosophy puts human thought over reality and is obscured and unable to arrive. Idealist philosophy is evil. All civilization begins with a world view if it does not match up with reality over time it goes out of existence or in the modern west we use patch work to cover up the original mistake as we go along, pre history puts an end to all of this. there is no equal until some thing is unequal there is no wilderness until there is a city, there is no race until a mentalist separates humans from each other based on how something looks,

A lotus blooms from a muddy pool but is not made of mud. The steam is hollow or empty and something beautiful comes into being. Our training does not allow for the outside world to define us. The mountain in many Taoist stories is a metaphor for stillness. All can arrive in a busy city it is the mind that is calm and still in the midst of activity. My son and I were walking out of the mist in the high mountains of China and a Chinese Kung Fu student started laughing and said I thought you were tourist.
