  1. Finding the higher self.

The closest thing to "higher self" in Vajrayana is your own wisdom which manifests as deities in night practice etc. clarity being 7 times more in a lucid dream etc.

  3. Yeah, thanks for the reminder. I should start taking Protopope Avvakum's warning more seriously. He was the leader of opposition in the 17th century Russia and he visited me in a dream-vision many years ago to tell me exactly this, in a resounding Old Slavonic which I translate below: "Some things can be talked about in a flowery manner and there's no sin in that; other things, let's keep silent about, for the Almighty has given us comprehension not toward many words, but toward many silent omissions." I hope I'm not over my words vs. silent omissions limit for purposes of conformism compliance, Bob. Please include the opinion of the Protopope as my guiding prototype in your report. Have fun in Vegas.

  6. An "exercise" from shaking medicine..before every time you practice or whenever, you try to think of some things you want out of your practice eg Power recognition oneness death love happiness truth joy freedom Then one makes a nonsense gibberish poem using those words... The death of stars is like poo love wondering accross the inside happiness of outside joy out of the concaves of freedom slowly jar truth becomes one before death there was birth, before birth joy, joy and freedom are more like love and hate than love and hate like to admit the power of, the power of joy hates freedom, freedom hates love, love loves truth, love desires recognition into the dinosaur tree of peyote flying away in an eagle of knowledge waking up from the dream of chocolate cookies off to the shop i go, freedom is oneway of the tao techings recognition of recongnising others veracity of their claims, e.t thoughts speaks like this haha ho ho ahahah, oneness is like twoness death occured in the star that was actually me over there, death and love are like keyoboards mixing together in the cooking pot to make vegetarian soup that is like meat the killing of trees and plants the difference is unsightly to the sight of gifts of men of knowledge furthermore the practice encourages laughter, silliness and play

  8. Visited by translucent beings

You're probably hallucinating. I was so tired once while laying down that my bedroom melted into my bathroom and I was suddenly standing up looking at myself in the mirror, I once woke up to a glowing phantom of my brother sitting on my bed twitching like a horror film with a ridiculous smile on his face, one time the fan in my room started talking to me before I popped into a lucid dream. I woke up once to a small child patting me on the head and then running into my computer desk which was transforming into a tree house. Another time I woke up to a portal above my bed which I was being pulled into. One of my favorites was waking up to a memory of myself as an indian flirting with an incredibly beautiful woman, before my 'window of awareness' proceeded to pan out to a PSP gaming device which was apparently playing the memory, which shut off and disappeared when I realized what was going on. Basically, what I'm saying is shit happens. When 'you' wake up ahead of your body, your mind will definitely play with you. The question is really how and why, rather than if. Expectations are everything when it comes to sleep paralysis, and fear of the unknown usually colors most peoples experience. But this could be something else, who knows?
  9. Funny you guys are talking about aliens. I'm wryting my first book, it's about aliens and ninjas, even though I don't know much about aliens, just the movie stuff. I tried lucid dreaming but as weird and crazy(and I've had some beyond obscure dreams) as my dreams get, I've only realised I was dreaming twice. The cruel thing is, when I realised I was dreaming I had slight control then woke up inside another dream and didn't realise I was still dreaming
  10. A possible future

A while back I posted a thread about how I saw a small detail of my future in a dream and the that, the next day it occured. After being told to google precognition, i did and it said to control/enhance and continue seeing the future, I have to simply have faith in my "ability"(it also mentioned alot of scientific research and that successful people use this ability to succeed) whether its a thought, a feeling, or whatever. This morning before I headed off to school, I took a short meditation, but just as soon as I relaxed and was breathing. A vision barged into my mind. It was doomsday(or something like) and everyone was unconscience(im not sure why) in the street. The sky was masked by clouds and someone wearing armour with chains around the chest like x walked towards a body a few feet from me, snapped then slit the neck and let the blood augment the river of blood in the middle of the road(I think the blood was feeding a creature or something) then he came to me and it was a friend of mine. Before he snapped my neck, i asked for mercy and in the moment of his hesitation, i quickly chi blasted him away some far distance. I then, realising that for some reason judgement day enhanced my chi, flew away at a great speed hoping to find other chi warriors, looked behind me and saw not more than 60 men dressed the same as my friend flying in pursuit of me. I was about to fire multiple chi blasts at them, but I opened my eyes and was done meditating. Is this me remembering a dream from when I was asleep or...?
  11. Human Potential

All of us owe our growth to the dreams we had as children. Isn't this all just our wildest dream becoming reality? Half the fun is the madness of it all, and it is our innately childish nature that allows us to take it and run with it.
  12. Interesting dream I had

Jah I suppose as long as you wake up or sleep within a dream it does
  13. Interesting dream I had

I had a dream once where I went to school and when I came back home I woke up and had to do everything again for real, does that count?
  14. Interesting dream I had

Anybody else ever had a dream within a dream nd that was a semi-lucid 1?
  15. Interesting dream I had

Reminds me in a weird way of a semi-lucid dream I had once. I remember going into the dream lucidly, and knowing that I was dreaming. I was so excited that I couldn't really decide what to do. One of the first things I tried though was saying "Aum" in the dream, cuz I heard that had interesting effects. It created a very strong kind of reverberation and became unpleasant very quickly. I went on to try other things but the dream ended shortly after that.
  16. I was on a motorway the details were fuzzy but it seemed like me and other people I knew/friends/past accquaintences were riding vehicles of some sort on the motorway but everything was open, then i realise i could skate on the motorway without any shoes, so I started going very fast like I was skiing, started getting scared I was going so fast wondering if stopping would be dangerous or how to stop, looking at friends for guidance, then i wondered if I should stop like skiiers stop or go on the grass. anyhow I noticed like some spiral/bagua trigram like a black background with flashing white lights resembling a trigram like in the I ching, I vaguely remember a thought about lucid dreaming/astral projecting so I decided to stare at the light then my body started tensing feeling electrified but I felt scared like I could leave my body/die so I decided to stop. One interesting epiphany I had though is that the subconscious mind heals on a subconscious level so intefering with the conscious is not always neccessary.
  17. Notes from the dark side of the force

Life is like a dream and dream is like life....the two blur together till each is indistinguishable....so called evil manifestations in real life and dreams are just unconscious parts of my mind that want to be spoken to instead of pushed away. Each day I strive to shed light on my whole mind until it's one unified, glowing, radiant, whole.
  18. I cannot cook for sure. Porridge is about my limit of culinary expertise. Dream of being just four pounds overweight. According to doc at five foot ten I should be thirteen and a half stone [one stone is 14 pounds] but apart from having malaria and dropping nearly two stone for nine months in hell I have been fourteen stone ten since I was thirty. Are you a veggie M?
  19. As I have said, I came late into the Chinese language. I almost did not know my roots as my mother tongue was English. It was through the works of Westerners like John Blofeld that bridge that chasm for me in earlier years. And the works of the cartoonist Tsai Chih Chung. Take a look at his books, and consider buying them all. Not only you will not regret that, but very likely, will go on to buy more for your friends. He also did some videos in collaboration with others. The Sayings of Chuang Tzu 1a Zhuangzi Speaks From above, you can see the others of this series You might like that enough to go on to his Lao Tzu, Zen , and many others Go dream of that butterfly, and be free The Idiot on the Path aka Shanlung Mountain Dragon http://shanlung.com/
  20. How is Taoism Relative to Bums?

And BTW i had a dream related to dragons last night . Maybe ' they ' accepted me .
  21. Emptiness

Emptiness is realized by many people since enlightenments (ie awakenings) happen more often and more frequently around the human population than you think. I don't mean enlightenment in terms of a state of ultimate nirvana that a long standing practitioner eventually comes to and (hopefully) maintains up to their death, but the sudden awakening that people have. From this awakening, the person can progress or digress, but upon this awakening one becomes the empty channel through which a power greater than their self can flow whether they choose to recognize it or not. Emptiness/nothingness can also be further realized in dream states of lucidly STILL dreams which I believe only happen after such an awakening, proceeded by a recognition of their emptiness, and driven by further spiritual inquiry. Zhuangzi, the Taoist's contemplation of a dream being a butterfly is what I pondered on for the longest time. "Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man." It is a good one to ponder to try and break that barrier and has many answers that will lead you there. Allen Watts helped me understand it much better with the following. It is not nothingness in that there is nothing but that you are unaware of the nothingness. Chew on that one for a bit. Its simple but not easy.
  22. Refining Qi to Shen

Some ideas to share: 1) Shen comes up after our having accumulated certain amount of jing and qi, yet it is not anything proceed linearly , but discretely or abruptly. 2) Reading Buddhist writings, especially Zen Buddhist ones, does help. Reading books about modern physics, especially those about the theory of Relativity and Quantum mechanics is also helpful . 3) It is after our having got some taste of that Shen, do we start to know what the Buddhist Sutra really talk . Of course, after that, any argument about whether Taoist or Buddhist way is better becomes meaningless, they are just different ways enable us to reach the same place/ level. Don't argue about whether going to Hong Kong by plane is better than by ship , just see what conditions you possess.. ( I do not work for the HK Tourist Association.. ^^) 4)There will be another Mind, different from our acquainted daily mind , arising...but thinking that all spiritual things must come out from our brain or upper part of our body is just some kind of bias. 5) Please understand that a split of our spirit ( not necessarily in a state of lunatic ) : say, a much clearer, condensed Mind looking back at a trivial, yin-typed mind / reasoning is possible ; please understand that an occasional, abrupt push of detaching our spirit from this physical body is possible ( building up our jing and qi is , in fact, building up the momentum for a Mind capable of leaving this body , notwithstanding we are unconscious of it ...); please understand that having totally dream-less sleeping or sleeplessness in nights , yet without effect on our energetic daytime life , is possible.... Or, it happens that there arises an unstoppable , compelling urge to preach whatever we believe in by extraordinary eloquence ( this, likely turn out to be something negative). ; Or,an emergence of an extreme sharp Mind which unable us to understand whatever knowledge we are told ( Please note that Shen is a formless , content-less intelligence ,which can understand and accommodate whatever knowledge and ideas It is told, no matter where they come from , humans or aliens or other sources); Shen can understand our yin-typed mind , no matter you call it common sense or a scientific mind, easily ; conversely, hardly can we understand what Shen is even we are repeatedly told ... these are symptoms telling you the coming appearance of Shen; Just like physical proofs: needless to eat for a long time, rebirth of fallen teeth..etc, these are also proofs in Taoist practice of our spiritual achievement . ( Of course, the Evil will also come accordingly , just like yin always accompanies yang ). With past Taoist masters' experiences as its basis, with millions of TCM medical cases ( say near-death ones..) as basis, Taoist talks about this arena seems better than the Tibetan book of Death or those strange Zen's Ko'ans ( just my personal preference ^^)
  23. From what I hear, dmt is produced in the brain at birth, dream and death. So AYAHUASCA and DEATH are very strongly related.
  24. Fragments of earlier memories of Taiwan

Great story. I have a very cool Laughing Buddha netsuke but the origins are mundane (ebay ). However, the mystery lives on. A whole bunch of years ago I had a dream-vision (different from just a dream) where a monk quite similar to the one you encountered sold me a little figurine of a sleeping cat for a nominal fee. I kept thinking about it and pondering for a while, everything from the dream was as vivid in my memory as a real-life event I lived through. Then I came across an article about an ancient temple of the Sleeping Cat in Japan, Nemuri Neko, and there were pictures, and there on the facade of the temple was my figurine from the dream, a full-size version. (The cat's face looks a bit like that of the black and white cat in your pictures, doesn't it?)
  25. Can't get over my EX

It takes time. For me it took a few years to really get over one of my serious girlfriends. But then just 10 years after the fact (or about 5 years after getting over her), the other night I found myself having a dream about being with her. lol, wtf, get out of my head! At least now I don't feel suicidal about not being able to be with her, as I did right after she broke it off with me. Breaking someone's heart is bad karma! Giving your heart completely to someone who will probably break it, is worse karma. It gets easier as time goes by. The first months are supremely hard, but then it's not as bad. Really. Be with friends...it won't make the memories and feelings go away completely like some magical solution, but it helps a lot. Most important is that you've got to move on completely, and have no desire for her to take you back. If she did, you need to be in a place where you would never accept her back. As long as you have such low self esteem which causes you to possibly want to be with her (which is where the bad feelings come from), you're going to not be "over her". I mean, look at her behavior...she actually does not deserve you. You might want to talk to a counselor until you get normal again. I wish you the best of luck.
