Nightmares are there to help you remember the dream. They are a stepping stone to lucid dreaming. -

First meditation cause a change in the general production of brainwaves. The nervous system is because of the unusal activity also overstimulated. It seems to me that is too much to follow the general shedule. So you may take a day off and exercise one day. If this not work two days off and one day work to regenerate and build up the resilence. You can still later add the amount of time. You can go and drink a warm tea, choclate drink or else for the time your would exercise on the free day and relax, no meditation or something watch the surroundings stuff. Hold the tea between your hands to reduce stress and put it on the lower abdomen when you not take a sip, just take care you not put something too hot into the cup. The cup should be so big that you can hold it with two hands. In general you have to need to exercise more common sense and being more observant about your body's(buddies ) needs as you let it go so far to feel singe in your brain. It is good you are obidient and dilligent doing your energy work, still one has to take care of oneself and asking the methods advanced practioner who had dealed with the same situation or the teacher who is now the head of the school. Also consider other possible source which can cause it. At times, it was something very insignificant, something new. Actually if you do Prana Healing, you may have scanned yourself? Whenever you use a different conciousness state, then the memory you gained by the activity can mostly only recalled in that state or a similar one. This is as I assume is also responsible for the difficulty to recall dreams the more one is awake and the easier while awakening. Actually I can recall this dream memory when I drift away with my mind. The alpha state is something which is predominant in children and depending on circumstance beta state, the awakening state should been predominant. This is needed to do the daily work abillities like concentration of the mind and memory. Because of this Alpha state in young people, intensive meditation may lead one easier to a state of Theta or between into Delta. But the problem is the abillity to shift and maintain conciousness between the states. So when falling back from Theta to Beta one has little memory. Also one disturb the standard development into Beta. When one has strong Beta one can recall it. A thing to consider to see is if one need glasses or if the eyesight has weakend. Stuff can be remembered because something has been seen clear. The less detail one has seen the greater the mind is filling the gaps. If there is something has to much gaps, then it is considered unimportant and so deleted. Therefore one has to check if one still has interest in the things one give the awareness. Meditation can lead to uninterest to mundane stuff, sex, social activity or talking(beta state), actually things that require beta. Take Care. -
Eastern Philosophical arts & practices are satanic?

Skepticism can be a wonderful tool to sharpen experience, as long as it does not spawn cynicism. A beginner's mind, a mind untainted by cynicism, can be one which is eternally skeptic. See it clearly for yourself, observe with awareness whether or not the bardos are all the same essentially... the only difference is the level of grasping and aversion. The greater the degree of grasping and aversion, the more intense the images will appear, hence, for a dying person, generally speaking, he or she will be feeling the most fear and confusion due to a weakening consciousness, and will experience the most intense images of demons and such. These are nothing more than unresolved fears. During life, due to distractive tendencies, most people do not develop the capacity to pacify these unresolved fears. Unfortunately, unresolved issues do not go away. They simply germinate quietly, until such time when the death process begin to happen, they will take root in accordance with one's level of confusion going into the death process. If one has gained mastery over these fears during life, then going into this process will be just like waking up from a pleasant dream. It is a most difficult practice to maintain composure during intense arisings (like seeing ghosts and headless beings and what not) but once you have gained mastery over them, then its just a matter of staying composed. This is where mindfulness practice can begin to help in a great way. -

Although, I am still bring harassed by demons and ghosts in lucid dream states. This only began when I started meditating regularly 2 years ago and it hasn't stopped yet...even if I am meditating on love and compassion. So I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned... I do question my path sometimes and wonder if my practice invites evil into my life. Perhaps there are too many satanic things we delve into due to too much dabbling. After all, it is said (or advertised at entry level) that Taoism is more simple than anything and teaches harmony! -
Questions for the scientists in our midst
Marblehead replied to manitou's topic in General Discussion
Hehehe. First sentence you supported my arguement, not your own. Remove the filters, destroy the pre-everythings. The sage has no mind of his own. Yes, a dream is totally subjective unless some lady is doing something to you while you sleep or some other such condition. -
Hmmm, but , but , but....I cant experience the objective because its filtered by our senses and contaminated by our preconceptions. Would not a dream catagorize as subjective by your reckoning ?

Does this make sense? I'm imagining one month mentorships, where for a month one person gives another a practice that should take 10 to 30 minutes. There would be short daily feedback for advice and encouragement. Many people here have practices they find invaluable and are amazed few do them. They run the gamut from Zhan Zang to Mantras. I'm envisioning this as focused on a single practice. It should be taken seriously, done daily, with short emails to each other regularly. Trying large classes, often doesn't work well. But I wonder if 1 on 1, a single practice would be more conducive for this kind of medium. What do you think? Any interest? 30 days could start a lifetimes practice. For example I stink at dream work, but its an area I really want to get into. It'd be great for me to have a mentor who has experience. On the other hand I have experience with Ecstatic Kabalah and Rawn Clarks IHVH chants. For the right person it'd be an interesting introduction to the field. The practice could be simple or complex, its the feedback and dedication that will make it special. >edit expanding the scope of this idea: To include 30 Day Yin Yan Self Improvement Promise. 30 Day Yin Yan Self Improvement Promise: You make a 30 day commitment to subtract a habit and start a habit to fill the void left by the subtraction. The habit should be a specific easily measured thing. Example: I will not eat blank (wheat/sugar/fries) and I will have a blank each day (juice/salad/green smoothie/sasquatch) (subtraction). Here's mine- I will not watch TV in November. Instead when I feel the urge I will- meditate/exercise/walk. This shouldn't be too hard. Good to start out easy. Next month diet. No vegetable starches, potatoes, corn. Positive Have a green or colorful low sugar smoothie every day. Third month maybe something harder no baked grain ie grain/cake. Positive eat good salad and soup each day. The idea is to grow- gain some discipline and develop the 'will power' muscle. The hope is this becomes a consistent practice. Subtracting something bad, gaining something healthful. Yin/Yan, bringing life into a better balance.

Its too bad you weren't willing to defend it (astral dynamics). This is a discussion site. I agree people came on a too harshly, but its up to knowledgeable people to explain it. Instead of joining the discussion you went straight to ridicule. Bad form. I'm very interested in dream and OBE work. If you're at all knowledgeable and want to do something other then flame the site, open a New Topic, and give us the dope on the latest accomplishments coming out of Bruce's work. Otherwise, flame off and go away. I expect that his style of dream work is the most likely source to take psi study of OBE's from the wacko fringe placement into the modern paradigm. Michael

You can exclude everything from your life that is entertainment. Life itself must become our actual entertainment again. Not short-living, momentary distractions. There is so much to learn. So, so much. And when you need a break, you dont fill your brain (again) and remove your just newly gathered knowledge by pushing in new information: You go outside and just relax. And if it's too cold.. you can astral travel, project, lucid dream in a nap and bring back fresh ideas and be totally rejuvenated. Adopt an animal, communicate with wild animals.. or just watch them. The possibilities are endless. My dusty TV was on this Summer when "coincidently" a documentation about Saddhu's came - ofc what else^^ but overall no TV and also no Radio since more than 3 years now. Barely any news at all. Just here and there to not feel to 'alien'. "Son, we didnt have heritages from our old family members - we had TV!" and the whole Universe laughed.

Ramana Quote does not belong in CN Norbu's latest book
jogi secreto replied to Tibetan_Ice's topic in General Discussion
Tibetan Ice, you post is shockingly off the mark. Of course Ramana Maharshi is not a Dzogchen master - that's as obvious as pointing out the blueness of the sky. I was shocked at your attempts to frame Ramana Maharshi as a Dzogchen master...Everybody knows that the Dzogchen masters are people like Padmasambhava, Garab Dorje, Vimalamitra, Shrisimha, Dhanasamskrta, Buddhaguhya, Vairocana, Jnanasutra, Rongzom, Longchenpa, Mipham, Dudjom and so forth. Where, o where, in these lineages is there mention of Ramana Maharshi? It's completely and utterly, tragically off the mark to start claiming that Ramana Maharshi or any random spiritual teacher is a Dzogchen master. Really amazing that you would think this. I suppose Jesus and Mohammad might also be Dzogchen masters? Malcolm is absolutely correct to admonish Adriano Clemente for inserting non-Buddhist teachings in his translation. Bravo Malcolm. Well said. People who think that any random spiritual teacher is or might be a Dzogchen master merely because of...your reasoning, which is totally incorrect - are way off. A Dzogchen master is just another name for a Buddha, a perfectly enlightened being, like the Buddha, or Longchenpa, or Padmasambhava. The lineages of enlightened buddhas have never included non-Buddhist teachers, and they never will..! Just how you propose to work Ramana Maharshi into the lineage of Buddhas is really puzzling - and it is also impossible and will not and cannot happen. Has Ramana Maharshi ever himself claimed to be a Buddha? I don't think so...has he ever taught Dzogchen? Or Mahayana? Or Prasangika-Madhyamaka or any Buddhist philosophy whatsoever? If he was never involved with any Buddhist teaching, how in the world could he be a Buddha? This is nothing but one of those really bizarre things that uninformed people dream up. -
Spot on with the bubble analogy. This is the way I see time/space formed in our subjective way. When there is no bubble - there is neither subject nor object - neither time nor space. The bubble has two poles which both face inwards: subject and object. Two sides of the same substance but unaware of that fact. Like in a dream, everything we experience is mind-made. Subject (us) all other beings, buildings, sky whatever - the entire event is inside the bubble. This is volition/karma, rending non-duality apart to create the time-space bubble in which "we" can exist. You may like this: http://spiritual-minds.com//returntoshiva.htm Namaste _/\_

Sometimes natural events (and death is one) have a way of taking over themselves ... we are not required to do much at all. I have been with a few people that have died very peacefully and in ... well joy. I have seen a lot of suffering and fear about it as well, but that is usually before hand and combined with physical suffering. There comes a time when one 'makes peace with death'. One elderly lady, I remember quiet well. She should have died but she was holding on tenaciously. She looked terrible and was distressed (and giving all the nurses a hard time as well). One night I walked into her room and she was sitting up in bed positively radiant ... beaming, saint-like. She said , "I am ready now ... he came and saw me." I was a little confused as it was late at night and I knew no one had been there, "Who was that?" I asked. "You know who." she said. I came back later and she was sitting propped up in bed, dead ... with a big smile still on her face. Of course there is more to this ... I have no experience in the field with disaster where there is a 'sweeping death' ... that is probably different. Also with other forms ... which I wont go into. I know one can make peace with death long before it happens. In my experience it came as a surprise as , due to my practices, I thought that was one of the things I had done ... but who knows when it stares you in the face? I had a rather bad motorcycle accident on a narrow quite country road, I was lying smashed up on the road near my bike, just around a blind corner ... I knew the corner well, and also knew that if someone came around that corner they would surely run over me ... I thought I had broken my back as I couldn't move, I couldn't get off the road, so I just lay there waiting ... I noticed the distant mountains, the clear blue sky ... a strange thought came into my head "Well ... this IS a nice place to die." I was very calm and relaxed. Then I realised what I was doing and it really surprised me. NO car came (obviously) and after a while I got some feeling back ... no broken back just a numbing sprain. I began to move a bit and eventually sort of dragged myself off the road on my belly by my arms and up on to the narrow verge against the paddock fence. I am not sure how long I was there but a 4x4 comes around the corner, brakes locks up, slides a bit sideways, picks up the bike underneath it and they both slide and crump into the bank Still got the scars to remind me (and they were still spitting out tar particles for 5 years!). Here is another 'dream'; I hope when I do die it is in the same good spirit and in an equally good place.
-
Hmmm, I think that might be everyone's dream really. Many don't know it though .

My dream is to have no fear or desire when I'll die, that would mean that I have done what I had to do, given what I had to and received what I had to. But's that a tough one for me.

How does the practice of taijiquan lead to enlightenment?
JustBHappy replied to grabmywrist4's topic in Daoist Discussion
It doesn't unless practiced correctly. It's the same way that meditation leads to realization. At the advanced stages, Tai Chi is meditation. Moreover, it's meditation in motion so it trains the body/mind to be in meditation while not only standing, but moving. This is a vital step for taking your practice off the cushion and into your life. Stay in a meditative state, not grasping nor rejecting and relaxing into the natural state of awareness while doing your everyday activities. A vital step on the ladder in my opinion. In fact my daily practice will often follow this: Sitting meditation qi gong Standing meditation qi gong Moving mediation - Tai chi Bagua External arts Once we can maintain the natural state of relaxed awareness throughout the day, add in a little dream practice, and we are practicing 24 hours a day. -
. Thankyou … brilliant … Always loved that piece but never saw the clip before … very psychologically (re this topic) apt IMO. (had a disturbed friend who had that dream most of her life … she could never turn and face them … very frustrating for me as I knew what would happen if she did … years later , messed up and still running.) I will add some more in a different vein … maybe we can get a little compendium of variant view happening. For me the whole concept of HGA is tied up with (or laid over ) the concept of the True Will (in Thelema, that is guys … not the ‘free will’ ( pre-emptive strike there) . Musings : I think Crowley may have embedded and given us a clue in certain Tarot cards aside from the Major; ART. Have a look at the 2 of wands: http://shadesofmidnight.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/2-of-wands-thoth.jpg Crowley describes this card as two crossed Dorjes (I know they are more like Phurba but I want to go with what he intended from the text).I am postulating that they represent the HGA and the True Will, consider: Firstly, the depth of the Vajra symbolism and what we are discussing here (Maybe one can’t get it fully until one studies the symbolism of Vajra and the related books (like in the Thelemic stuff / Magick / Thoth tarot ) ? But the ‘Old Boy’ did ‘stick it in’ the deck … in that place, for a reason. I can see a map emerging that Crowley outlined in a certain manner, but nowhere did he offer the detailed cosmology like the Buddhists did ; maybe that is why he studied (and encouraged) us to study) Buddhism ? { Warning: avoid reading if getting bored by obscure nungali linked symbolism } “Vajra (Devanagari: वज्र; Chinese: 金剛 jīngāng; Korean: 금강저 geumgangjeo; Tibetan: རྡོ་རྗེ། dorje; Dzongkha (Bhutan): dorji; Japanese: 金剛杵 kongōsho) is a Sanskrit word meaning both thunderbolt and diamond. “ … it is a symbolic ritual object that symbolizes both the properties of a diamond (indestructibility) and a thunderbolt (irresistible force). “ The earliest mention of the Vajra is in the Rigveda, a part of four Vedas. It is described as the weapon of Indra, the god of heaven and the chief deity of the Rigvedic pantheon. Indra is described as using the Vajra to kill sinners and ignorant persons. The Rigveda states that the weapon was made for Indra by Tvastar, the maker of divine instruments. “ In Buddhism the vajra is the symbol of Vajrayana, one of the three major branches of Buddhism. Vajrayana is translated as "Thunderbolt Way" or "Diamond Way" and can imply the thunderbolt experience of Buddhist enlightenment or bodhi. It also implies indestructibility, just as diamonds are harder than other gemstones. In the tantric traditions of Buddhism, the vajra is a symbol for the nature of reality, or sunyata, indicating endless creativity, potency, and skillful activity.” (IMO obvious expressions of the True Will. ) “ The practice of prefixing terms, names, places, and so on by vajra represents the conscious attempt to recognize the transcendental aspect of all phenomena; it became part of the process of "sacramentalizing" the activities of the spiritual practitioner and encouraged him to engage all his psychophysical energies in the spiritual life. Some components which make up the Vajra “ … One represents the phenomenal world (or in Buddhist terms Samsara), the other represents the noumenal world (or Nirvana). This is one of the fundamental dichotomies which are perceived by the unenlightened. The physical manifestation of the vajra, also called dorje in this context, is the male organ.” (a favourite Crowley ‘Holy Symbol’) And “ … made up of two or more animals, often representing the union of opposites, (or a harmonisation of qualities that transcend our usual experience) “ … like the Art card. “There is an elaborate system of correspondences between the five elements of the noumenal side of the vajra, and the phenomenal side.” Poison : Wisdom : Buddha Desire: wisdom of individuality- discriminating wisdom :Amitabha Anger/ hatred : mirror-like wisdom :Akshobhya delusion :reality wisdom :Vairocana greed/ pride : wisdom of equanimity: Ratnasambhava envy: all-accomplishing wisdom :Amoghasiddhi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vajra .

It might be worth pointing to the Heart as the origin/essence of all Bliss. Reason being that there are 3 chakras above and 3 chakras below, the heart being in the centre - even disregarding chakras we observe the heart is the central unification. When energy flows down from Crown to Heart and simultaneously flows up from Root to Heart, there is a meeting in the middle of these two flows. Then there is a resonance which occurs when these flows meet. There is DMT synthesis occurring (dimethyltryptamine). Within the DMT synthesis there is the IAM. Think of DMT as the volume level to the IAM. If I-AM is sad, DMT at 10 is LOUD sad, if I-AM is happy, DMT at 11 is BLISS happy. When a person seeks to enter pure Void of Void, it is DMT that is the gateless gate into it. DMT is always synthesised with each heartbeat as far as I can tell. It acts in trace amounts as only a tiny nudge from this is necessary to do things. It is found in the heart, lungs and pineal gland. DMT is the molecule of Clear Light. When DMT levels go up, Clear Light floods the body - it is the key to opening the gate itself. To sustain the bliss, the body must satisfy these conditions: (1) Monoamine oxidase is inhibited or otherwise rerouted from breaking DMT down (2) DMT is being synthesised by resonance of heartbeat-lungs-pineal (3) Absolute is choosing to flow the body into direction of Bliss So we have in order of flow Clear Light/Truth => Spirit/Breath => Clear Light/Truth => DMT => Clear Light/Truth => Rest-Of-The-Body Heartbeat pulls Spirit in and out applying Yin-Yang transform. Clear Light is prismed by Spirit into Spirit's individuated colour/frequency. DMT opens or closes amplitude of vibration of Spirit. DMT is also the prism molecule itself! Too much Spirit at the wrong time? Toast. In each mid-stage between Clear Light, there is the propensity for the generation of noise and consequently falsehood. The signal:noise ratio is of key essence. So you can see where the unification occurs. I remember reading a story where a monk was given DMT. After returning from the journey, he stated this is the farthest you could go without physically dying. I might come to agree! Thank you for the pointer toward Dharma Megha/Kaivalya! DHARMAMEGA: "Cloud of Dharma." In the very last section of the Yogasutra: within the Kaivalya Pada it describes a condition immediately preceding kaivalya itself called dharma-mega-samadhi. Accordingly, the text infers dharma-mega-samadhi contains and encompasses all that can be known, just as a cloud fills the sky. And just as rain quenches the thirsting earth, so this "cloud" pours down the rain of the Dharma and exstinguishes the raging fire of all kinds of instability. 'The Yogasutra seems to be interested in the benefit of the dharma-megha-samadhi for the sake of the yogin only: his Klesa and Karma are eradicted, his knowledge is infinitely enlarged, his kaivalya is secured, which means the attainment of his "being his true self." Highly relevant thread - "Eternal Heaven" The truth of these statements may be understood from an information-theoretic perspective - it is very much so mathematically sound! Also of interest: 6-MeO-THBC (Pinoline/endogenous MAOI) 5-MT (Mexamine/Dream tryptamine) Melatonin (Sleep inducer/Astral plane connector)

^^^ Or the unions, or the media, or the politicians. A boy can dream though, right?

why do you keep thinking an anarchist is upset? anarchists are cheerful, it is the ones who feel confined to their system that show signs of being upset. upset at their political leaders, upset with the economy or national debt,or whatever. upset that some welfare mom may get a baloney sandwich for herself and her kids for lunch, upset that some one may be getting high or enjoying themselves carefree at the expense of the middle class? anarchist really could care less. the rich are fine in my book too unless they happen to be bankers. when in fact the rich totally support the poor and it is the middle class that is the sheep that will be slaughtered by the rich. the poor don't care. however it turns out they will still be poor. it is predictable, always has been. the only ones with blinders on being led to the meat house are the ones who faithfully believe this system will continue to work for them. Iceland jailed their political leaders and bankers and have they suffered becoz of those actions? or have they benefitted from those actions? "March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream." not being able to drive without streetlights? I have headlights of my own. and the roads I drive on don't have signals, signs, , the signifiers often are false. I did drive in a country for 15 months that did not have any traffic laws, I survived, I did see a couple of accidents where the involved got out and duked it out to settle it. I admit this would be a unsavory situation, and I do carry car insurance even if summer b4 last I drove without a tag all summer. minor protest and experiment. there will still be plenty of fungible as per agreements between individuals and not handed down as some edict from up on high. and I trust the word of my bookie over the word and handshake of any banker. the distinction drawn here may be that despite the "ilegaility" the bookie may be involved with he is still honorable to our agreement, where as the banker , even with the laws that he writes that supports him, still cannot be trusted to keep his end of the bargain. "you cant change" this is the illusion the invalid system hopes that you buy into. there is change going on. little victories and wise action over time will transform into a new age. I agree I am in anarchy paradise already. wise action is stepping away from the system in place as it is now. the current system is unsustainable and will doom itself. no anarchist will ever have to bring about the change. anarchist recognize that the change is already underway and the system is in fear and that is why it is trying to bring about such draconian measures. we all know where sheep end up, do we not? where do you think the globesity is heading? I have stepped away long ago. decades. I will add that I do feel that a govt might be necessary if they would be the counter balance to corporate crime world but in reality they are in collusion with. joeblast talks about crony capitalism. I agree that it would be refreshing to see how capitalism without the cronyism corruption crime would be. but we will never know. it has all been set up by the cronies, it is invalid, it will not last. however calculating and evil the hierarchal corporate laws are, things do cycle thru. it would be better if we get a 1688 resolution than a 1788 one imo.. but if we don't get one we will get the other. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glorious_Revolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution

There's a hawk who teaches me walking qigong on occasion, and he told me that wings should, in the case of a human, be sprouted out of the outer thighs, not the arse as Nungali suggested. The hawk is not from a dream -- he circles around when I do my Longmen practice by the local lake, he probably lives nearby.

It does some rather amazing stuff to oceans . Though, no idea how yin related this is... So that is just yin, not a combination at all? And the qi balls that we make (some of us anyways) are those yin, or? I've never looked into it that closely. That makes perfect sense. Makes me wonder which is deficient in really ill people, or just when someone gets the flu. Your average mundane person ghost yes. However I mean a practitioner who practices daily their entire lives (or someone with just a really strong will and a lot of umph), with a strong mind. I have seen some interesting things. Well OK or a high level MoPai person, but perhaps not 72 yet. Also, some of us (probably including you) can lucid dream . I wonder if there are other ways to go about it? Still only talking in a handful, or perhaps 2 though. *additional note sent via pm The testing of science is important. And yes, very much far behind still. There are some people (the government for example) who I would prefer not to become literal gods....

Agreed. The difference between the subconsious or and conscuous wants is mindboggling. I actually got traumatized by a dream I had the other day. Really shook me up. The funny thing was that it was not a nightmare, but it was terrifying in its sublimity. h

I love this feeling . In awe is a good way to describe it sometimes. Universe surprises, hell yeah . A nice side affect of magical practice I feel. Martial arts is an awesome dream, that we are still dreaming . I am usually content, and when I'm not it's just me being whiny for a bit lololol. Retired as in don't work a regular job for someone else, got it . Personal practice forum her on TTBs! Where I write all the fun stuff heh: http://thetaobums.com/forum/246-baguakicksass/ Quite a few members have one. I'd say to ask King Solomon about that one...

So now you dream of flying - well good luck to you, I hope it felt good. I miss my very vivid childhood flying dreams . I also believe some simple / psychological dreams can hold messages, morph, represent other things processes and developments. The "Dreamtime" is a place, where amongst other things, metamorphosis of and development of forms take place .... the archetypal world is flexible in this realm .

Wow dude! That is one big piece of psychological projection (look it up, wiki has a good page on it) and assumption about someone else's .... everything ... how on earth did you get 'insight' like that. I mean how do you know what she might do want dream become or find out there I mean .... sheesh! .... <walks off mumbling >
