I have noticed that if I ever ejaculate manually, my semen is very normal looking and very white. If i go a long time without ejaculation, inevitably i will eventually have a wet dream in which it is like the eruption of mount st helen. However from the dream my semen is extremely thick like jelly and is not white at all and more of a golden color to it. Can anyone explain this or tell me what it indicates?

Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
Absolutely, I don't think he is fully enlightened till he can walk through a wall. Money talks and BS walks. I only posted this because I found his explanations fascinating. That being said according to the man I spoke with: nobody/no-one exist, but paradoxically they do actually exist. In essence you are nobody/no-one and so is everyone else, there is no-one here to see or do anything and yet paradoxically they are here seeing something and doing something. The paradox is resolved when it is viewed in the context of a dream. In a dream you may believe yourself to be the character in the dream, but really that dream character has no existence, the only thing that has real existence is the dreamer. The dreamer of the "real" world is the infinite mind, qi, or spirit which fills the void in between the planets. And it dreams you as a dream character. In essence you are the emptiness, infinite mind, qi, spirit, whatever, but you're dreaming you are a man. -
The easiest way for me is to set an alarm clock for an hour or 2 before you usually wake up...when you wake up to the alarm get up and read some OBE material for about 15 minutes to saturate your mind on going out...then lay back down on your right side and don't move at all...anything as you fall asleep...for me about 1 out of 3 times i will become aware in the middle of a dream and the dream will break up and i will go back to my body sleeping in bed only my mind is fully awake...at this point just twist or roll out of your body and you will go right out. Also, you don't have to get up any read anything if you don't want, but waking up and then falling back asleep without moving anyhting is very key to this to work...if you do this several times successfully pretty soon you will start having OBEs in the mornings without even trying. I find this way much much easier than through meditation.

Being reborn again and again with the man/woman of your dreams is a Curse..
Friend replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
If you gather knowledge to worry then it is better not to know, if you for whatever reason can not change it. If you know things which you should not know because your developement has not reach the point to able to use it then such knowlege cause bitterness, grief and greed, fear and other attachment. Seers who can not bear seeing the possible future should no see into future. Part of your freedom is to have discipline to decide how you react in a situation, you decide how you feel. People react so different to a situation and you choose the worst view of the situation. Look, you still count time in terms of reincarnation. You forget that when Right Person appear it becomes timeless only a moment. From daily life, activity you do not like appear long and boring, things which you like appear fun and short. If something is a curse or a dream depends on your choice of reaction the fact is Right person "is" and you "is" and the others around also "are" because it is "we". And it is to show integrity and not polarity. A buddha acts - a commoner reacts. -
Being reborn again and again with the man/woman of your dreams is a Curse..
tulku posted a topic in General Discussion
So many of us dream of getting into that magical relationship with the all so elusive soulmate.. the man or woman of our dreams.. So many of us dream of searching for and finally finding Mr or Miss Right.. And when we finally do found Mr or Miss Right.. we are so willing to grow old with him/her, have many kids with him/her and die with him/her .. and we love him/her so much that we are so willing to spend our next lifetime with him/her again and the next life-time after next and the next lifetime after next.. This is not a dream. This is A CURSE! -
personal light or celestial light? personal self effort, or grace? <link 1> <link 2> there is powerful spiritual war coming up. can't be helped. everyone knows the cusp of ages is ahead. and what is a spirtiual war? well movies like star wars and LOTR gave clues. .... you don't think it could happen close by? you don't think such a conflict has happened before in the past? if you read on magic you know that some magic is misapplied. (ok, a lot of it is misapplied) also when someone gets proprietary magic, they have the CORNER on the market. they own that deal, and they use it to control stuff. like media. like medicine. like education. like business. they use that ownership to shape beliefs. to shape reality in a sense. after several weeks they convince the masses that "romney is the logical choice" ... but wait. didn't they have that scenario picked long in advance? of course. oh yeah, I think that I thunk I knew who ta vote for, but hey, they done took away my candidate and alls I hear is this other fella and they always show the fella with white shiny teeth and all and a plastic porcelain expression and this guys the guy, ya know cause that's all they ever shows ya on the tv or news, and you know I don't hear about my fella no more so maybe that means he ain't they guy, maybe ... maybe that fella's not so bad after all, yep I know, he's a plastic fella for sure but maybe he looks cuter than those other fellas and anyway he's gonna fix the economy, cause that's what he promises and everything ... duhhhhhhhhhhh .................. guhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ..... duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ................. and now we return to our other entertainment ..... so come on. is this war? or is it something to ignore, as we muddle about. is someone's reality being shaped here? so how would we fight such a war? do we even know what the adversary looks like? sure we do. but it's blocked out of consciousnes by clever programs. imagine that eh. well one thing I've found out a bit is that spiritual attainment is a pipe dream unless it balances by taking into account the resistance forces to it. there's a lot of talk here about spiritual ambition, but scarecely little about any kind of opposing energy. and you don't suppose there would be an opposing energy that doesn't like spiritual advancement?

Suicide, Emotions, Dimensions, Realms and Phowa
tulku replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
Suicide is a highly negative act if you have not practised sufficiently to have gained control of the death process. There were Lamas in Tibet who committed suicide through phowa3 because they knew that death by execution or through torture would not enable them to maintain awareness of the death process. If we cannot experience awareness in the dream state, then it is unlikely that we will experience awareness in the bardo state. If we cannot maintain awareness into sleep, through dreaming, and into waking, then we stand little chance of maintaining awareness through the more profound experience of death, bardo, and birth. For those of us who have not developed such practice, the state of mind at the moment of death is important. Dying with a happy mind is beneficial. http://www.spacious-passion.org/shared/text/s/spacious_passion_ch_05_infinite_09_happy_mind_eng.php -

Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
When you sleep at night you may have a dream of being someone else, this does not mean that you are the dream character only that you believe yourself to be while sleeping. "Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi. But he didn't know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi." If what he says is true, this is a literal dream, you are attributing who you are to the wrong person or rather thing. The emptiness is the thing dreaming, and observing the dream, according to him. -
Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I may be misinterpreting what he has told me based on ego. Prior to enlightenment he was a normal person living his life, after enlightenment he ceased to exist, and only a dream character existed. He said verbatim that he had died and no longer existed. The dream itself thought it was a man if I understand him correctly. Also the dream itself occurs in the nothingness, or emptiness. Emptiness has actual existence, it is like qi, or spirit, or mind, and it is all that exists anywhere and everywhere, and anywhen, and everywhen. The emptiness of the universe is actually full of spirit, mind or qi. The only thing that is truly empty is physical matter. Before enlightenment I chopped wood and carried water, after enlightenment wood chopped wood and water carried water. I understand what he told me on an intellectual level, but I am still here and an ego still exists so I can't be enlightened but it is fascinating. -
Yup! Dont bite hand that feeds is right!! It was not his intention though... its my own carelessness that caused it. Update: 22 hours have passed. Still no painkillers taken. Trying to get a full night's uninterrupted sleep was not possible as the hand was throbbing a bit, yet i feel well rested this morning. I remember having a dream of looking at my hand and thinking Wow! No pain at all! Amazing to have such severe wounds and be pain-free! Am on antibiotics though to ward off infection.

Chinese Taoist Medicine & Stillness-Movement Medical Qigong
Mark Foote replied to Ya Mu's topic in Group Studies
"Sleeping quigong", can you spare a few words about that? There's definitely a state of mind that kicks in for me when I accept that I can be falling down, sleeping, standing up- and I find it helpful. As to what I had to heal to sit the lotus, what I would say is that in 2005 I wrote that the movement of breath and the cranial-sacral rhythm place the occurrence of consciousness in such a way as to open an ability to feel. What that says to me is that by attending to the sense of location in the occurrence of consciousness, my natural well-being will open the appropriate ability to feel in my senses. From there, it's a case of my natural well-being healing both my body and my mind, as it were- experiences that allow me to remember what I need to attend to the sense of location in the occurrence of consciousness from moment to moment. Greek, probably! here's the link, as close as I could get it, to humbleone's experience with his dream. -
like a bubble in an ocean of silence, it is a dream where anything is acceptable and nothing goes.

beautiful! thanks my girlfriend calls me her chickpea after the rumi poem. its a long one but i will post it here The Chickpea A chickpea in a pot leaps from the flame, out from the boiling water, Crying, "Why do you set fire to me? You chose me, bought me, brought me home for this?" The cook hits it with her spoon into the pot. "No! Boil nicely, don't jump away from the one who makes the fire. I don't boil you out of hatred. Through boiling you may grow flavorful, nourishing, and united with vital human spirit. I don't inflict this suffering out of spite. Once green and fresh, you drank rain in the garden; you drank for the sake of this fire. God's mercy precedes His wrath; by God's mercy the sick ones suffer. It has always been so; this is how God creates all that exists. Without pleasure, no creatures would come into being. Without creatures, what could the burning love of the Friend consume? Such sorrow may come that you might wish to be free of this life. yet the Grace of God will overtake His wrath, once you are washed clean in the river of suffering. Chickpea, you fed in the springtime; now pain has become your guest. Entertain him well, that he may return home grateful, and speak of your generosity to the King. Instead of your vision of good fortune, the One Who Bestows Favor may come to you; then all true blessings may be drawn to you. Just as Abraham commanded his son: 'Lay your head before my knife I see in a dream that I must sacrifice you,' lay your head before God's knife, that He may cut your throat like that of Ishmael. He may cut off your head, but only the one that is immune to death. Such submission is the fulfillment of God's purpose — seek this submission. Chickpea, continue to boil in suffering, so that no self may remain in you. Though once you laughed in the garden of earth, you now are the rose of the garden of spirit, you now are the eye of spirit. Once you are torn from the garden of water and earth, you may become food, and thereby enter the living world. Become nourishment, strength and thought! Once you were sap; now become a lion in the jungle! You were born from God's attributes; return eagerly to them. You came from the cloud and the sun and sky, then scattered and ascended to heaven. You came as rain and heat; you will return into the Divine attributes. You were part of the sun and the cloud and the stars. You became soul and action and speech and thoughts. Our victory after the checkmate of death gives truth to the words, 'Verily, in being slain there is life.' Action, speech and sincerity become food for angels; they climb this ladder to heaven. A morsel of food becomes food for humanity, rises from its inanimate state and obtains a soul. The caravan of spirit travels constantly between earth and heaven. Join it gladly and freely, not bitterly and full of hatred, like a thief. I speak bitter words to you so you may be washed clean of bitterness. The frozen grape thaws in the cold water and leaves its coldness and hardness behind. When you endure bitterness, your heart will fill with blood like the grape, and you will be freed from all bitterness. A dog not kept for hunting wears no collar; the raw and unboiled are nothing but insipid." The chickpea speaks, "If this is so, then help me to boil! By this boiling you elevate me. Hit me with the spoon; delight me! Like the elephant, strike me and brand my head, that I may not dream of the gardens of Hindustan. Let me gladly submit to this boiling that I may be embraced by the Beloved. Men and women, imagining themselves free, grow insolent and hostile, like the dreaming elephant. When the elephant dreams of Hindustan, he disobeys the driver and becomes vicious." The cook says, "I was once like you, part of the earth. I drank the fire of self-discipline, fasting and prayer, and became worthy and acceptable to God. I boiled long in the world of time, and long in the pot of this body. From these boilings I grew capable of strengthening the senses; I became animal spirit, and then became your teacher. While inanimate, I said to myself, 'You are running about in agitation so that you might be filled with knowledge and the qualities of spirit.' Now that I have become animal spirit, let me boil again and pass beyond that state." Pray unceasingly to God that you might not be misled by these words, and that you might arrive at your journey's end. For many have been misled by the Qur'an; by clinging to the rope of words, many have fallen into the well. The rope is faultless, O perverse ones — it is you who lack desire to reach the top.

Well... awareness is always present, it is the basic reality. Even while you are asleep, your awareness is still there. Pristine awareness is the Tao. Consciousness is the normal "I" of the waking state... or even the fictitious "I" of dreaming. There are different state of consciousness used in shamanic works. There's a state of consciousness associated with Lucid Dream and so on. The sequence to follow for getting the Tao is very simple. First you cultivate emptiness: you achieve a state of consciousness without thoughts. Second, you abandon this emptiness realizing that it is in the realm of thoughts: emptiness is a subtle thought. What's left? Pristine awareness. When we say "Aware the palm of your hand", we mean "Focus your consciousness on a single thought which is the sensation of your hand" That's Qigong. When we bring our consciousness into emptiness, we forget our body. All the tensions fade and it starts to heal itself without efforts. This happens because when you are in emptiness, your consciousness is not bothering your body with his continuous "I am this". Try to believe

Chinese Taoist Medicine & Stillness-Movement Medical Qigong
Ya Mu replied to Ya Mu's topic in Group Studies
I think so as this is certainly a part of the Listening. ""humbleone" applied the practice I describe in "waking up and falling asleep" to discover an awareness of the place of his consciousness in the back of his head, and he found a recollection of a dream he had many years ago." Possibly similar to how we get into a state to start our sleeping qigong in Stillness-Movement. -
Chinese Taoist Medicine & Stillness-Movement Medical Qigong
Mark Foote replied to Ya Mu's topic in Group Studies
I'm talking about the place of occurrence of consciousness, and the impact and ability to feel synonymous with the sense of place associated with consciousness, not the object of mind as the sixth sense organ. That's what I mean by "the place the mind is at the moment". "humbleone" applied the practice I describe in "waking up and falling asleep" to discover an awareness of the place of his consciousness in the back of his head, and he found a recollection of a dream he had many years ago. Not an experience I have had, but there is something about the sense of location in connection with the occurrence of consciousness from moment to moment, and I suspect it's not so different from Listening, although I wouldn't know. Clearly, I already went so far as to say the place of mind was identically the circumstance and the healing approach, but that is based on my experience healing myself of nothing more than my own ignorance of my body and inability to sit the lotus. I'm embarassed, slightly. -
I just go to bed, sometimes I wake up but I am not in a real world, I guess it's more like a lucid dream because there is no body left on the bed, and I can't fly or have control over the dream. All senses work just like this world, I can eat or shower or whatever. There have been times I've posted on the internet and read books or gone to work even, only to come to find out it never actually happened in real life. Quite maddening to say the least and scary as hell, when the dream starts to collapse around you. I am not even training at all right now and most of the time it just happens when I least expect it to.

Recently I got to speak with an enlightened master and ask what enlightenment is.
Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
My impressions from speaking with him but may not be accurate based on my wrong thinking mental filter, was that there was no first cause as all causes never happened, nothing has ever occurred and all that has occurred is a dream and delusion. There is only the emptiness which is infinite mind, qi, spirit or whatever you want to call it, and it is dreaming that it is you, but there is no you, just the dream of you. The best impression I got from him which may be my own mind distorting the meaning of his words was that, emptiness is like spirit, consciousness, mind, observer and it is all that exists period. And we are all it. It was more like nothing was the space in between planets the void in between was filled with spirit or qi or consciousness, and it was full to the brim with that. But from our perspective it was the emptiness in a tea cup, the void. What was unreal was physical matter and phenomenon, they were delusion that had no real existence. Physical matter and physical bodies were just illusions that this empty spirit wore like clothes, but inside us all was this spirit which was also the same thing as the void and it animated all life everywhere but was in and of itself one being and not separate beings. Sort of like the wind blowing the sails of a boat or a leaf in the wind. -
The definitive guide to achieving OBE's is Astral Dynamics 2nd Edition by Robert Bruce. He drones on and on, and you could condense the book into a few paragraphs of knowledge but it's still a good author and his system is the best I am aware of. Be careful though. I OBE all the time and sometimes you get stuck in a hell like dream you cannot wake up from, sometimes there is physical pain and suffering and you just have to wait it out. It's not all puppies and rainbows.

I apologize for putting my thoughts on paper when they were not entirely on-topic. I have had some time to think about the fact that you don't experience the location of consciousness below the waist, and writing on my own blog I found these words, which I'll hope are more germane: 'Moshe Feldenkrais wrote about finding support for the lower spine so that the breath could be continued through shifts in posture. To that end, he recommended exercises to experience the basic motions of pitch, yaw, and roll while sitting on a chair. Hypnic phenomena connected with the place of occurrence of consciousness can initiate all three of these basic motions, as necessary for the support of the lower spine in the movement of breath- and do so solely as a result of the place of occurrence of consciousness from moment to moment. Sometimes I recall a Chinese adage that aptly describes the ability to feel that can develop, as the place of occurrence of consciousness responds to the necessity of breath in a given posture or carriage: "the true person, breathing to their heels".' I conclude, as I did a few posts above: "... making self-surrender (one's) object of thought, (one) lays hold of concentration, lays hold of one-pointedness of mind." (SN V 2 , Pali Text Society volume 5 pg 175-176, ©Pali Text Society)' There is a relationship for me between the movement of breath, posture or carriage, and the place of occurrence of consciousness. That's a restatement of something of mine you quoted me, without cranial-sacral theory; either way, I don't experience this activity unless I am "waking up or falling asleep", and the initiation of action is a result of the place of occurrence of consciousness rather than my habitual activity of posture. The instances you cite go to the heart of the matter, regarding "zazen that gets up and walks around". I am still trying to offer a description of the relationships involved in this, such that another person can understand the relationships and arrive at the experience. The amygdala is probably involved in stepping on the brakes, memories that are tagged with adrenalin that trigger action when similar circumstances are encountered. But I would also say that psychics teach their art by asking people to catch the images in the mind before the descriptions; your experience with your dream demonstrates that place is a component of the mind catching images before descriptions. With the car, you not only realized what was happening before mental comprehension, but your awareness moved to where your whole body could be thrown into action before your full comprehension. I've had that kind of experience, and that was my take when I stopped to reflect on it, my awareness shifted. Kind of like falling down, yes. Puts me in mind of the time I was held up, out behind a McDonald's in San Francisco. I was the janitor, cleaning the mop outside the back entrance, when a guy jumped the fence. I thought it was our breakfast cook at first, same build with his cap low and grinning, but then he raised a paper bag with his hand in it. I closed and grabbed the barrel, long-barreled thing it was- then I had a split second to decide if I was letting go or jumping him. I realized he didn't mean to do any harm, and let go. He was pissed, marched me inside and had us all face down on the floor, then he disappeared with the weekend receipts. A week later, I read in the paper that two German tourists were held up on Bush street by a short man with a long-barreled gun. They thought it was a joke, and tried to jump him; he shot one of them in the kneecap and one in the shoulder, I think it was. Writing about myclonic twitches and writing in response to you in general brings me back to letting go of all the things I do when I sit, and otherwise. It's a good place to be in, I think. Sometimes I feel like my words are my archery, and I am looking for "it" to place the words on paper to change my life and this world (hopefully for the better?). Truth is, only all sentient beings together can do this.

ok, like years ago id be trying to go to sleep and would get stuck in paralasys to where i cant move ..my body was sleep but my mind would still be awake. GOOGLE OBE if you dont know what im talking about.... well as i started to look up info on these things that were happening and decided leaving my body was out of the question...but i always secretly wanted to try, then some some years ago when i met my SIFU Djhuiti, 13th disciple . he told me i shouldnt try because its like a drug and i would get addicted to going and would neglect my duty here on earth... well years pass and im still wondering if i should try and if i do what are the techniques to induce a OBE, with out drugs of course. and is it dangerous? from what i heard im just not suppose to trust any spirits i meet. what is every ones elses opinion, any of you guys tryed it? and the differents between now and then is that back then i was just starting out and didnt even know how to breath right...lol now i have strong energy cultivation skills and can lucid dream, and meditate with such focus. Ive been on a long training journy and lost contact with my sifu...im not even aloud to contact him till i finish my training, which im almost done with, then hes suppose to teach me more advance tech.

Likewise, humbleone, makes my day to hear about your experience with this. I find consciousness in a lot of places, when I stop and turn the light around, as it were. Also the fact that I am attending to the sense of place can tend to move that sense of place. I get a sense of consciousness as located in my head, in my chest, sometimes in my arms, often in my legs. I work at opening my ability to feel by hanging with the sense of place, and sometimes it seems like it helps to take inventory of the places my mind doesn't go and see if I have feeling there. Like my backside, and my calves. Putting my attention on the pivots of the sacrum tends to cause my sense of place to actually shift to the hara, isn't that a weird one? I'm focusing attention on the sacrum, but when I relax and slip into sense of place, my consciousness is at the hara without quite giving up the sacrum. I guess that's the ability to feel and the place of consciousness in relation, somehow! Like to experience that more. The bit about the dream memory at the back of the mind, wow.
-
good to hear from you Mark. interestingly, I locate 'IT'(the mind, consciousness whatever you like to call it) always above the waistline, never in the legs or feet. not sure why. face area, cheeks, jaw, nect is OK. but the brain also seems to be off limits. What are some of the places that you are able to locate it? The only one time, that I located 'IT' towards the back/side of my brain, immediately I had a flash of imagery. I recognised it right away as a long forgotten dream I had almost a year ago. The little snippet of the dream now is part of my conscious memory. i was quite startled by it and felt I was intruding upon IT as it went about its business I would really encourage you to spread the word about your practice, have others share in their experiences. all the best

Thanks Sunya! i have been meaning to start practicing dreaming again for so long and now i am reading the book i mentioned, and Tenzin Wangyal's The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep. so when i finish with those i will check out the Crystal and the Way of Light! I'm just into the introductions and im reading a couple other books, so i don't know when i will actually start dreaming, but when i get some foundation to talk about, maybe i will start a thread for the dreamers here! that would be cool do you know of any other books from the tibetan perspective on "lucid dreaming"? you can PM me if you don't want to derail the thread

awesome...that's a great book for dream practice. I would recommend also getting Crystal and Way of Light
