Well, certainly, but it is important to distinguish between essence and function. One cannot purchase an illusory waking state home with illusory money from a dream, for instance. There are still valid and invalid relative cognitions. The wisdom of equality is not necessarily the same as the wisdom of discrimination. It is interesting because the teachers I've had have been fairly split on the issue. Most of my Buddhist teachers have said that most visions, etc. are purely dreamlike illusions (to a point) merely to be discarded. Non-Buddhist teachers, often have an opposite view, especially those involved in energy or magical work. So in this example, how would one distinguish between a vision of a friend who died vs the friend who died is actually visiting?

"The following peoples have geographical, historical and/or cultural ties to the Tower: Lakota Cheyenne Crow Arapahoe Shoshone Kiowa Aside from the Kiowa, all of these tribes are considered Northern Plains Tribes. All six of these groups lived in or near the region known today as the Black Hills. The Tower is situated in the northwest corner of this region. In addition to, or inclusive with, the six groups listed above, there are over two dozen individual tribes affiliated with the Tower. Ceremonies may occur at the Tower any time of the year, & not always visible to visitors. NPS photo Cultural and Spiritual Connections The connections which tie American Indian culture to the place known as Devils Tower are both ancient and modern. Oral histories and sacred narratives explain not only the creation of the Tower, but also its significance to American Indians. They detail peoples' relationships with the natural world, and establish those relationships through literal and symbolic language. Today there are several sources one can reference to read the various oral histories. 2 Modern connections are maintained through personal and group ceremonies. Sweat lodges, sun dances, and others are still practiced at the monument today.1 The most common ritual that takes place at the Tower are prayer offerings. Colorful cloths or bundles are placed near the Tower - commonly seen along the park's trails - and represent a personal connection to the site. They are similar to ceremonial objects from other religions, and may represent a person making an offering, a request, or simply in remembrance of a person or place. As with many religious ceremonies, they are a private to the individual or group. Please do not touch, disturb or remove prayer cloths or other religious artifacts at the park. It is important to note a key difference between American Indian religions and many other contemporary religions (referred to as "western" or "near eastern" religions): a sense of place dominates the religion of American Indians, as opposed to the sense of time that dominates many western religions. Instead of a focus of chronological events and the order in which they are presented, American Indian religion focuses on a place and the significant events that are connected with that location. Although western religions have their important places, they do not hold the level of sacredness associated with the important places of American Indian religions. The Sun Dance ceremony is often held at the park, although not every year. This photo shows the set up of a site from the 1980s. NPS photo Tribal Connections Many of the tribes below have a sacred narrative, or oral history, about the creation of the Tower. You can read some of these oral histories on our park website. Arapahoe Arapahoes call Devils Tower "Bear's Tipi." 1 Sherman Sage, an Arapahoe, said that his grandfather, Drying-Up-Hide, was buried near the Tower.2 Cheyenne The Cheyenne call Devils Tower "Bear's Lodge," "Bear's House," "Bear's Tipi," and "Bear Peak."1 The Cheyenne camped and hunted at Bear's Lodge in the winter and consider it a holy place.2 "A band of Cheyenne Indians went on one of its visits to 'Bear's Tipi' to worship the Great Spirit, as did many other tribes before the white man came. The Cheyenne braves took their families with them as they felt that would be safe, as Bear's Tipi was a holy place."2 Devils Tower is where Sweet Medicine died and it is his final earthly resting place. Sweet Medicine is the great culture hero of the Cheyenne who brought the Four Sacred Arrows to the tribe. The Four Sacred Arrows' sanctuary was located within a secret cave on the south side of Bear's Lodge.1 Sweet Medicine also founded the Cheyenne Warrior Societies, tribal government, special laws, and ceremonies. As Sweet Medicine lay dying in a hut by Bear's Lodge, he foretold a dark prophecy of the coming of the horse;the disappearance of the old ways and the buffalo, to be replaced by slick animals with split hoofs the people must learn to eat (cattle). He told of the coming of white men, strangers called Earth Men who could fly above the earth, take thunder from light, and dig up the earth and drain it until it was dead.2 Crow The Crow call Devils Tower "Bear Lodge." 1 The Crow people were known to fast and worship at Devils Tower and built small stone "dream houses" there as part of these vision quests. The stone dream houses were about as long as a man is tall. A man would recline inside with his head to the east and feet to the west, "like the rising and setting sun."2 Kiowa The Kiowa call Devils Tower "Aloft on a Rock" and "Tree Rock." The oral histories of the Kiowa people link Tree Rock with their astronomical knowledge.1 "...origin memories of American Indian people reveal none anywhere 'as bright- and remote-' as the Kiowas memories of their days in the Black Hills and at Devils Tower."2 Lakota The Lakota people call Devils Tower "Bear Lodge," "Bear Lodge Butte," "Grizzly Bear's Lodge," "Mythic-owl Mountain," "Grey Horn Butte," and "Ghost Mountain." 1 Of the may tribes associated with the Tower, the Lakotas arguably have the strongest connections (or at least the most well-documented). The Lakotas often had winter camps at Devils Tower, documented as far back as 1816. Lakotas have an ancient and sacred relationship with the Black Hills, including Bear Lodge and Inyan Kara. The Black Hills are the Lakotas' place of creation.1 A Sioux legend tells of a Lakota band camped in the forest at the foot of Bear Lodge. They were attacked by a band of Crow. With the assistance of a huge bear, the Lakota were able to defeat the Crow.2 At Devils Tower, they fasted, prayed, left offerings, worshipped the "Great Mystery" (the essence of Lakota spiritual and religious life), and performed sweatlodge ceremonies. Lakota pray for health, welfare, and personal direction.1 The healing ceremony is known to have been performed at Bear Lodge, conducted by a healing shaman. The Great Bear, Hu Numpa, imparted the sacred language and ceremonies of healing to Lakota shamans at Bear Lodge. In this way, Devils Tower is considered the birthplace of wisdom.1 "White Bull told of 'honor men' among the people who went up close to Devils Tower for four-day periods, fasting and praying. There they slept on beds of sagebrush, taking no food or water during this time. Once, five great Sioux leaders-Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Red Cloud, Gall, and Spotted Tail-went there together to worship. We did not worship the butte, but worshipped our God."2 Vision quests are a very intense form of prayer requiring much preparation, fasting, purification rite (sweatlodge/inipi), and solitude.1 It is a ritual integral to the construction of Lakota identity. In addition to learning lore and moral teachings, individuals who seek visions "often regain clarity of purpose in their lives and a secure identity as a member of their tribe." Men and women may seek a vision for a variety of reasons: to give thanks, to ask for spiritual guidance, or simply to pray in solitude.3 One of Devils Tower National Monument's archaeological sites, assessed by archaeologist Bruce Jones in 1991, is a post-1930's shelter made of stone and wood which could have been used for vision quests. A Lakota legend tells of a warrior undergoing a vision quest at the base of Bear Lodge for two days. Suddenly, he found himself on the summit. He was frightened since he did not know how to get back down. After praying to the Great Spirit for assistance he fell asleep. Upon awakening, he found himself back down from the butte.2 The Lakotas traditionally held their sacred Sun Dance at Devils Tower around the summer solstice. The Belle Fourche River was known to the Lakotas as the Sun Dance River.1 Bear Lodge is considered a sacred place of renewal. The Sun Dance is a ceremony of fasting and sacrifice that leads to the renewal of the individual and the group as a whole. The Sun Dance takes away the pain of the universe or damage to Nature. The participant suffers so that Nature stops suffering. The Sun Dance is "...the supreme rite of sacrifice for the society as a whole [and] a declaration of individual bravery and fortitude... Young men went through the Sun Dance annually to demonstrate their bravery as though they themselves had been captured and tortured, finally struggling to obtain their freedom."3 The tearing of the pierced flesh is symbolic of obtaining freedom and renewal. NPS records indicate that modern Sun Dance ceremonies have been held at Devils Tower since 1983. The Lakotas also received the White Buffalo Calf Pipe, the most sacred object of the Lakota people, at Bear Lodge by White Buffalo Calf Woman, a legendary spiritual being. The sacred pipe's sanctuary was located within a secret cave on the north side of Bear Lodge.1 In 1875, General George A. Custer swore by the pipe that he would not fight Indians again. "He who swears by the pipe and breaks oaths, comes to destruction, and his whole family dies, or sickness comes upon them."3 Pipes often are held as sacred objects used in vision quests, Sun Dances, sweatlodge rites, and in making peace. Shoshone The Eastern (Plains) Shoshone claim to have a sacred association with Devils Tower. Their religious world, however, is kept very secret and, as a result, cannot be documented at this time. I grew up in south east Asia and always heard cicadas in the rainforest so it is a very familiar sound to me. Only now I live in Europe where I’m not used to hearing it all the time! No I can’t say that I have awareness of the sound through dream and deep sleep. Is that how it is with you?
-
That's how it started out for me. It usually is more like "bubbles" (like from a soda can). Do you get the sense that you've always actually heard it (a sense of familiarity)? Some other people who practice tantric meditations/techniques say it is "white noise". Different minds latch on to different labels for this phenomenon. One friend says "thousands of windchimes" and so on. Do you also ever maintain "awareness" of this sound through dream and deep-sleep states?

No tear-jerking or trickery here. Just the facts as I currently understand them. Sometime in June or July, although it may happen before, we (all of us living here) are parting ways, and my parents as well as myself need another place to live. I no longer wish to live with my parents. I wish to stand on my own, have my own space or place. And I wish to do this on my terms - not how society dictates. I know it can be done, but so far I have proven not up to the task. I want to be sure my parents are settled somewhere nice, so I can feel free to worry about myself. Ideally I would get my own little house - just two bedrooms - one for sleeping and one for creating content for YouTube. I like what I am doing for YouTube right now. I know that it is not uncommon, once you get through all the hoops and hurtles, to earn $4,000 a video. It is just one unconventional way to do something you enjoy that others are willing to pay you for, and in that way you are of service. My little house would have a well-drained, not mucky and private backyard with at least one old tree I could sit under and mediate. Room to do Tai-chi and yoga. Either easy access to transportation, funds to pay for a Lyft or something like that, or my own car. A hot tub I could use to heal my achy sore body. Ideally I would have a $5,000 budget to build a new computer and get the gear I need to keep doing what I do. Anything left would pay for a physical trainer and a yoga teacher. That is a brief sketch of my dream. It's a nice looking future, but I can't see any way to it from here. Its like looking at a beautiful painting on the wall, wanting to go there, but of course you are unable to. What my immediate future looks like to me is that either the computer I am currently using (that has parts from when I built it in 2012-2013) will give out, or I will give up on YouTube because I am struggling to get my subscriber count up, through no fault of my own, or simply because I will be homeless, and have no way to keep making content. I have done all I know to do and tried all I know to try. I have been aware of the Universe speaking to me through coincidence, handing me two books that both essentially said the same thing about envisioning your ideal future and allowing the future to pull you towards it, instead of letting the past define your future, which is the default state we are all improperly raised to be in. I worked my arse off these last few months at YouTube and am even trying to get a job in the local school district as a supplemental plan until I am doing better at YouTube, assuming I even manage to do better. And now I am dealing with these compounding health issues. There are darker and deeper aspects of this I might speak of later. But for now, this is what I perceive. Just asking for your help, in whatever way you are willing to provide it. Prayers, sending energy - the usual. Tony Robbins tells how he used to be a janitor, and something like a month later, he flew over the building where he used to work in a private helicopter, headed to one of his events. Other accounts are littered throughout history, and there is just as much information on abundance and manifestation. I am well-versed and studied in these materials, yet I have been unable to achieve success. Mastin Kipp talks about inflexible nervous systems as being one of the reasons people can't change. That is the next tangent I am chasing. But I have learned that looking at myself as if I am broken only creates more brokenness I need to fix. In other words, if I am searching for a problem in myself I will surly find it, and this will never end - the ouroboros eating its own tail. The trap of all self-help. It is still difficult to tell myself that I am perfect as I am. That there is nothing broken, nothing wrong with me. That I just don't fit and there are simply adjustments I need to make. Then I recently realized that I don't need to pull out of this nose-dive that is my life, I just need to jump out of the plane and let it crash. The plane is my past, and by trying to do anything to correct my life based on the past I chain myself to it and all the ruts I have been mired in for years. Better to bail out and start over. But even these recent things I have learned have not been enough to help me take a single step towards any sort of desirable future or life I actually want to live. I am posting this to "come out" as it were, to ask for help and let it be known I need it. To make my desires and needs known. To put them down here in black and white instead of letting them continue to clog up the inside my head while trying to do everything by myself. I am stuck, I need help, I do not know what to do. Thank you for reading, and for your support.

Describe what you think enlightenment is and what you would realize should you have it
Mark Foote replied to helpfuldemon's topic in Buddhist Discussion
A. K. Warder's "Indian Buddhism" has some fascinating history. Among other things, he recounts the history of the first schism. Seems there were five points of contention, and the two camps were able to agree on four of the five. The one they couldn't agree on was whether or not an arahant could be seduced by a succubus in his sleep--translation: whether or not an arahant could have a wet dream. Not as romantic as small vehicle versus great vehicle, is it. Regarding the miracles: there are six of them listed in the Pali Suttas. Things like diving through the earth as though it were water, floating through the air. The one that stands out for me is "stroking the sun and moon with the hand". Gautama's advice for developing psychic abilities was: So he abides fully conscious of what is behind and what is in front. As (he is conscious of what is) in front, so behind: as behind, so in front; as below, so above: as above, so below: as by day, so by night: as by night, so by day. Thus with wits alert, with wits unhampered, he cultivates his mind to brilliancy. (Sanyutta-Nikaya, text V 263, Pali Text Society volume 5 pg 235, ©Pali Text Society) I take a look at this practice (and Gautama's explanation of it) in The Gautamid Offers a Practice. Regarding the last line, I wrote this: “Thus with wits alert, with wits unhampered, he cultivates his mind to brilliancy”: Gautama explained that a monk “cultivates his mind to brilliancy” when the monk’s “consciousness of light is well grasped, his consciousness of daylight is well-sustained.” When consciousness leads the balance of the body to open the ability of nerves to feel, sensory awareness is heightened, and through heightened awareness the sense of location as consciousness occurs is sharpened. As to the “consciousness of light” or of “daylight”, the gland which is perhaps most responsive to daylight in the body is the pineal gland (the pineal produces melatonin), and the gland is supported by a bone in the interior of the skull (the sphenoid) that flexes and extends with the rhythm of the cranial-sacral fluid. The bases of psychic power were desire, energy, thought, and investigation (together with the co-factors of concentration and struggle), and they were to be cultivated by the use of the four-part method described in Gautama’s stanza. Whether or not there is a way to perform miracles and see the past lives or karmic fate of others, I can’t say; that there may be a way to bring about psychic experience through a “consciousness of daylight”, and possibly the occurrence of consciousness at the place where daylight most affects the endocrinology of the body, I would guess could be (although the precise nature of that phenomena may not be what it was thought to be in 500 B.C.E, as for example, the miracle of “handling and stroking the sun and moon with the hand”). -

What are we really? We are biological machines; androids, if you will, and we are playing out the roles that the Creator has set for us, both in waking and in dream. God is entertaining Himself with our lives. -
As much as I like to argue about Thelema, because I find that saying something is the whole of the law to be flawed, and I don't like the third part of the book of the Law "Mercy be off". I know that people need to be prevented from doing certain actions and so we have punishment for those actions, but I feel like people aren't always in line with morality and law, and that we need mercy, and to be given a few chances to learn. I understand that Do What Thou Wilt is particular to Crowley and his theory, but it appears to be do what you like to me, and it always will. I don't think Crowley meant it any other way, otherwise he wouldn't have said that when you do something it can be done to you. I don't have the places bookmarked because I'm not a serious student, but I've read bits that elude to this being the absolute law of freedom, and the strongest wins. I don't think anything was off the table for Crowley. The thing of it is, that I am sort of obsessed over it because when I was being tortured by the spirits, I cried out "Why is this happening to me?" and I fell asleep. When I awoke from a dream, at the end of it, the word Aiwass flashed in my mind. I had never heard of Aiwass, never read it or heard it before, so I knew it wasn't my subconscious. I have to believe that whatever Divine Order there is approves of Thelema, otherwise why would they send it to me? I've been trying to validate or contest it ever since. I've gone up and down in my attempt at understanding. I've also seen the technology that these Gods possess, and I wonder, where have they been throughout history? I used to think that this event in my life and this technology was man made, from our current age. I thought that man had secretly found a way to place technology in our bodies and communicate and etc. I've since had to decide that this is not the case, and that it is Gods machine. Because of these things, and others, I know that the impossible is possible, and so I have to keep an open mind when it comes to prophets, and things like miracles. But I also have to keep doubt in my heart lest I fall prey to any story or myth. When all of this started happening to me, I thought I was going to return to Christianity, but the Gods gave me Thelema, and if that means that Christianity has fallen out of favor, so be it. I was always sort of a Thelemite anyway, without knowing about it. In the end, none of this does me any good because I have been tortured to the point of being disabled, and I don't have much Will to do anything, nor the resources. I don't know why I have been tortured. I wasn't a very bad person when this started, had a wild youth and was pretty lawless as an adolescent, but as an adult, was very kind and I didn't harm anyone, so it can't be punishment for my past really, though that could be true. This torture didn't help me learn any, it just made it more difficult. I've stopped holding out hope that this was something good. As it is, I've lived long enough, and am just waiting to die now. I have no desires, I think much of what we do is just to pass the time, and is meaningless. I've resolved my moral issues and have things in order. I'm not interested in much and I don't feel like doing anything. This whole affair seems like a waste of time, and I can't understand why God, or anyone, would do this to a person. Makes me wonder if God acts at all, or if it is on whim that He does things, and allows so much other stuff to continue. And like I said, I've seen their technology, where have they been? Science is relatively new, did God want us to be simple creatures? And why doesn't God punish evil people? Why punish me? I was no one important, I didn't have a long list of evil actions, I know I asked for the power to bring love to the world, but this is how it was to be accomplished? I was already loving, I had hoped for some supernatural power, which I don't have. I didn't need this.

So to be clear, I think John may have had a dream or a vision of May Yung Chen. If this dream or vision was real, subconscious fiction or hallucination I don't know. I think John believed what he said, and that he did not have ulterior motives, and that he was not trying to lie or twist the truth. I believe John acted on his beliefs, if those beliefs were founded in reality or not I do not know. I hope that clarifies my position. Please let us move on, or move to the buns.
-
Shadow as I've explained I can only state what John said in his letters. I personally don't know if what he saw of May Yung Chen was a dream, or if he was being dishonest with Jim or if there's some other explanation. I'd say having letters written from John are about as good as you could probably do so I'll leave it at that and if you'd like to keep arguing about this then please let's do it in a different environment where we won't bother the people here and people don't wind up getting banned when this thread reaches page 185. Peace out.

I never said it was a dream. I said that is not what was caused the westerners to get the boot Heres a hint from Kosta's Answer: From the very beginning, Sifu John told me that non-Chinese could not be students of the school. At the time, he seemed to waiver from that commitment for personal reasons of his own; perhaps he did not expect that we Westerners would progress so rapidly. When the Magus of Java came out, there was a backlash from the Chinese students; right or wrong, the rules of the school had literally been written down. So we were told that we could not progress beyond a specific level. So...this might help you start to join the dots....that is straight from the horses mouth...note I underlined the most important term...P.S the story is a lot more complex than that...I have been privy to information regarding this that you are not Still so sure some spirit master was the cause of it? It is odd how you put so much faith in John Chang and his students to accurately portray the situation....yet when you start to put together even the disjointed info that is public...It becomes very apparent that you do not have the truth of the matter (and that is not limited to the lack of western access either)
-
People claim lots of things Shadow, don't always assume they are being truthful. I believe that is what John told Jim, and I believe that John probably believed that. It remains to be seen if John's visit by May Yung Chen was a dream, or if he was being untruthful. I can only state what his letters to Jim say. If you want to continue this further, please do it in the appropriate environment for it the buns forum is that environment.

Female enlightened master Rajini Menon on attaining enlightenment by virtuous conduct
Indiken replied to Ajay0's topic in General Discussion
@Lairg Maybe you have knowledge on these topics: 1. What could be the purpose for UFO/flying saucer deliberately showing itself to a person ? Or maybe, seeing UFO does not have any or only a small significance for the person witnessing the UFO ? 2. What could be the purpose of sphere of light appearing in the person's room while he is sleeping and stopping the dream and producing clanking sound in the head with the images of computer program running(hex numbers in command line). The person affected feels pleasure at the center of the middle chest and center of forehead ? Thanks. -
Why “Beyond consciousness” is a misunderstanding
Lairg replied to dwai's topic in General Discussion
In one tradition, consciousness requires a physical brain, while awareness requires a light body. Thus we often become aware of some thing or energy long before there is a corresponding thought anchored in the brain. Then we realize that the sound (for example) had actually been occurring for some time before we became conscious of it. Being self-conscious is a higher form of consciousness. For example some cats can recognize themselves in a mirror. The awareness of dreams often fades immediately upon wakening as the brain consciousness was not involved in the out-of-body dream process. Hypnosis or meditation can sometimes allow the particular dream to be re-entered and continued under conscious control since the brain is still engaged. -
Hi! As with everything that an awakened being or scripture says it is important where in the divine unfolding that being was (stages of awakening....though i do not like the word stages so much) With the first big shift there is a change of self experience from being a mind/body to pure still unbounded consciousness. At this point the world appears often like a dream or unreal....like it is covering the real. (Stage of that prayer) If you desire (here it means you are open to) further unfolding...at a certain point a unification happens...like pure awareness recognizes itself as form....the real regocnizes itself also as the "unreal " and that duality collapses leading to deep changes in the psyche and body also. Ramanas teaching comes from here "the world is not real only Brahman is real, the world is Brahman. Once this unity process completes one moves beyond consciousness....which is rather dramatic at first because it feels like falling out of source (pure awareness) like loosing ones awakening....because what is when there is no basis at all? After a while pure unbounded consciousness is seen as another layer over the pure source ... but that is beyond this response. Important is that there are different perspectives in the awakening unfolding...and they have quite distinct realities.

I've thought a lot about this and after watching my dreams be of an order that I did not create, I think that there is another place we connect to that we go when we sleep. I see death as the possibility of two places; one is that there is nothing, we simply die and vanish and it is the end. The other is that we enter a dream, and when the dream ends, we fall asleep until the next one.

Scientists Achieve Real-Time Communication With Lucid Dreamers in Breakthrough

So, it seems that scientists have now proven that it’s possible to communicate with people during lucid dream states. Interesting to see how this develops and what other discoveries are made. https://www.vice.com/en/article/4admym/scientists-achieve-real-time-communication-with-lucid-dreamers-in-breakthrough?utm_source=vice_facebook&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR3eRo5PmYMld_WBX7wjcsLvZvJ-Ajc846ZxRCBHdb9i27Ho5T_6f_YPsH8 -
Week 3 Observations Starting to see blue aura around fingers, feeling like I’m holding and pressing against a balloon between my hands during MGM, feels like my field of view is getting wider (15 mins) First time seeing FPCK sky blue colour during BTB (25 mins) Energy radiating from upper back and electric feeling in laogong during MHPeach (15 mins) Sometimes wind in ears and legs shaking during SMWU3 Sometimes intense tongue spasms in MSW3 More FPCK sky blue colour when eyes are closed during practice Stronger electric feeling in laogong throughout the day Bags under eyes almost completely gone Blue colour starting to guide and show me how fast to do movements during practice Sometimes see world through “blue filter” when finishing meditation When I do MGM outside I can see bright particles flying around in between my hands Pulsing sensation like a heartbeat felt in LDT during MHPearl supine No more high pitched sound, only cricket/cicada sound Hearing has gotten better. I can hear chickens somewhere in the neighbourhood at 4:30am, sometimes keeps me up at night! Hands sometimes glow when I bring them near closed eyes during practice Sometimes my body aches in the area I had a shingles outbreak Scars on my palms seem to be disappearing, but need to keep an eye on it and compare over time to confirm I had the first nightmare since starting FPCK. I was working in a kitchen with a lot of live crabs and one escaped into the garden. When I went to get it back the crab chased me around then went to get its friends to chase me around. I don’t have a fear of crabs, but I was scared of getting pinched! Normally when I experience fear in dreams/nightmares I wake up when confronted with monsters/demons/ghosts/possessed people. However this time instead of waking up I found a shovel in my dream and managed to whack the crabs. It was the first time in a dream/nightmare where I was able to confront and successfully deal with something that was chasing me. Dreams are becoming like lessons. In one dream I was a drunk Marlon Brando during filming on set who couldn’t do what the director wanted, in another dream I had to sacrifice myself to vampires to save my friends who were running away. Got drunk then meditated, ended up levitating into traffic I had my first dream about FPCK where I was in a public park and wanted to heal a dog’s foot but was too self conscious and shy to do FPCK in public. I had a nightmare that woke me up. I was in my room in an apartment and this kid from the building next door came in, I remember him being Indian. I ignored them because somehow I knew something bad was going to happen to them that day and I shouldn’t interfere and just let nature take it’s course. Then I started writing some words on a piece of paper with watercolour brush while they left. I forgot what words or phrase in English it was but the first letter was S. For some reason I wrote the S last and made it much bigger than the other letters. I made a mistake and had to keep going over it. In the end it somehow looked like Chinese calligraphy and when I finished I heard kids screaming from the street outside. I then thought I should have done something to keep that neighbours kid from leaving so I could have prevented this from happening. I looked out the window and the kid’s spirit was flying up the side of the building, but he was much lighter complexion and had blonde hair. I screamed in my dream then woke up freezing cold and shivering, while exhaling so loud and heavily. I could also feel some energy moving around my back. It happened around 6:30am.

Using psychedelics for cultivation or any other spiritual system.
Shadow_self replied to Salvijus's topic in General Discussion
The topic at hand has everything to do with psychedelics as an aid to cultivation which has everything to do with religion/spiritually. As freeform mentioned already, beyond a certain extent they are of little use to a cultivator. This has been echoed to me by several teachers as well. The exception is shamanic practices...and for the vast majority of people...dabbling in psychedelics has nothing to do with that. You've already been told you cannot access spirit with psychedelics, and the mechanics of the most popular one has been kindly laid out for you. You might not want to believe this, but, unless you are a person of a high level of cultivation, or have a total fluke this is more or less what has happened. You're running into your own mind. Thats about the size of it You have dissed called out researchers that advocate psilocybin, peyote, dmt, LSD, etc And I will continue to do so. I know exactly what their operation entails and their end goal. If you aren't privy to what happens in research and why, it might be better to leave this one alone. They have zero business advocating for the use of a substance under the guise of science when they have zero insight into matters pertaining to their mechanics. They have even less business aiding in the appropriation, commercialisation and exploitation of these substances. entheogens as a key that unlocks energetic gateways or other dimensions For who? Shamans and people of high cultivation? Yes possibly...for regular folk...not really...just a conscious trip into the mind basically...nothing you cant do yourself fairly easily with the right method...Often one of the first barriers you meet, and a major distraction for folk who cling to the experience NDE, out of the body experiences, dream travel are not some function of chemical emotional reactions, but the quest to experience beyond our minuscule existence. I find it strange that you, given all that was explained here (and elsewhere on the site) regards what a true OBE actually is, think that a substance could induce it. However, that might have slipped past you. In any case, you are highly unlikely to get it from a substance...the somewhat mirrored effect you see in DMT is similar to what happens when you die (it is not the same, there are some differences) but whats actually happening is as you move into the subconscious and unconscious layers of the mind things pour out as consciousness folds in upon itself. It is still delusion and actually, this is what keeps people tethered to samsara and stuck on the cycle...they cannot get past their own minds or over the delusions they are immersed in and clinging to in the bardo. The ones that are particularly strong dictate the next incarnation to a degree...move past this, and the transmigration process is altered somewhat. Heres the problem with this...and one most people don't realise. Reaching into this state even, and not knowing how, why or what to do, can create problems at the time of actual death, and in the bardo. This is why you need a teacher, this is why you need people who understand it to a high level. Not some clown in a lab jacket pretending they understand these things It also is not a true OBE Are you experienced in entheogens as cultivation gateways? I have no interest in it. I hate to be blunt, but I'm not interested in tricking myself into thinking I've had some grand mystical experience. No more than I am interested in labelling rising yang qi as kundalini, or seeing colours as my chakras opening. Just like you cannot access the mechanics of alchemy without strong foundations, you cannot access shamanic ones either. There are masters, students and dabblers Masters know what is happening, students want to truly learn, and dabblers think they already know and make mental leaps about their experiences...guess which category 99% of people engaging in plants and substances fall into Emotion is nothing more than a reaction Well at least you are correct here...Emotion is a reaction, and in the realm of humans, it is a reaction to sensation, perception, thought....it is almost as if we react to our thoughts and experiences through emotion. I said that a few posts ago. Guess it was worth repeating I took far too much and the 8 hour experience was one of the crown chakra opening whereby I experienced the vast dimension of timeless space. Was it an emotional machine response? Hell no! Sounds like an emotional response to me. Moreover I'm pretty sure your crown chakra definitely did not open. Though if it did, you better go and tell all the Daoist Masters and Yogi's in the mountains practicing for decades to achieve just that, that they need no longer struggle how they are, you have the THC concentrate that will solve all their problems Also, given the myriad of siddhi associated with the chakras opening, I'm sure if that happened telling them all (perhaps all at once) shouldn't be an issue, bilocation, and teleportation are simple to what is essentially a deity in the earthly realm If not then the experience that human existence is made of light frequencies alludes you. It doesn't. I've had the alchemical experience ,of entering into a certain state and expanding the bandwidth of the visual field to include things most people only read about...and I did it sober, not under the influence of any substance. It wasn't fleeting either (It just arose) I've had a bunch of other things too that have been mentioned throughout this thread, more esoteric things (which I'm not going to elaborate on here)...and I've done it with my conscious awareness completely intact, and checked it over with teachers and multiple initiates...so I can safely say there was nothing delusionary about it...and this was something I wanted to be sure of...because there's enough woo woo and nonsense surrounding these topics. Far too much. Life experience is a risk. Sure it is...but the issue at hand was actually one of understanding the inherent risk of substances. Given the discussion in this thread, the concerns raised by myself and others who cultivate and have a bit of insight into the mechanics...Its sadly appears lost on most people in the wake of mental experiences masquerading as spiritual ones C'est la vie I guess...whatever floats peoples boats -
Using psychedelics for cultivation or any other spiritual system.
ralis replied to Salvijus's topic in General Discussion
The topic at hand has everything to do with psychedelics as an aid to cultivation which has everything to do with religion/spiritually. You have dissed researchers that advocate psilocybin, peyote, dmt, LSD, etc. when the topic is specific regarding the use of entheogens as a key that unlocks energetic gateways or other dimensions. NDE, out of the body experiences, dream travel are not some function of chemical emotional reactions, but the quest to experience beyond our minuscule existence. Some may be triggered by emotions, others by the intellect, and others by being with an enlightened teacher where just a glance is enough to awaken the vastness of timeless space that is a permanent change in one's life experience. Emotion is nothing more than a reaction to awakening and not primary in the least. Are you experienced in entheogens as cultivation gateways? If not then the experience that human existence is made of light frequencies alludes you. As a personal example there are many experiences that are profound and go beyond simple human emotion. When I was out in Las Vegas a few years ago, I bought an extract called OG Ghost Train Haze, 900 mg of THC with important terpenes that were left in the extract. To make a long story short I took far too much and the 8 hour experience was one of the crown chakra opening whereby I experienced the vast dimension of timeless space. Was it an emotional machine response? Hell no! It was beyond my minuscule existence as a human. Electro magnetic? Frequencies higher than? What about full blown non dual light as an experience? Physical transparency from very specific visual practices? Entheogens can assist in unlocking gateways. Even kundalini yoga has inherent risks. Life experience is a risk. Stay on topic, please. BTW, my experience with Peyote was all the way through that gateway, which left me with a deep understanding as to why American tribal cultures have utilized it for thousands of years. -
non locality of spacetime and consiousness
Lairg replied to Hannes's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Is parallel processing a human invention? Do humans exist on a parallel timelines to accelerate learning? Using dreams for learning transfer? Would that indicate non-locality of consciousness? One of the signs of such dreams is meeting people that you know well but in the dream they look quite differently. In my observation of a dementia friend, his mind energy hardly connects at all to his brain. He recognizes his wife but keeps looking for his younger wife as well. His physical wife is also his wife on another timeline where she and he are much younger - at least at the interface of the two timelines. -
I was radically affected by the shift. I had an experience Friday morning in the hour just before Dawn. Life changing; Peak experience. One of the rare gifts of my life. It was another Encounter with The Norns, several Awakened Elders and my first encounter with Mistress K herself. I had no idea it was a dream until I woke shaking in joy and awe. It was experienced as real and tangible as sitting here typing this. I'm still swimming in awe and holding space for the images, sensations and insights. Stunned with gratitude and deeply humbled.

Is Mastering Doism/Yin Chi Key To Astral Projection?
Shadow_self replied to AstralProjectee's topic in General Discussion
An OBE or NDE doesn't necessarily mean "white light"....that light....well that's what you see when "the light turns around" or put another way...when consciousness turns in on itself.....The white light is an entirely different topic to be honest...I think there's quite a bit written about it on the site already...so I wont repeat what others have stated Theres a lot of nuances here...states can be tricky...if we are talking about death.... Damo Mitchell has a simple, accessible explanation of this in his "Daoist Reflections From Scholar Sage text" Heres a an interesting quote..from page 112. The Daoist theory of consciousness states that spirit is rooted in physicality. If you wish to picture it as something more tangible you could think of your spirit as being like a balloon filled with helium tied to a weight that stops it floating back to the heavens. That weight is the physical form of your body. When you die this string is cut, and thus the root of your spirit is severed. The string loosening up and the balloon having much more freedom (No longer being as rigidly restrained) is not the same as the string of the balloon snapping and no longer being held in place by the weight at all. My experience and knowledge (which is limited) is as I have stated...its not something I'd be interested in unless I was learning it from a teacher and was at the intermediate to advanced stages. What I will say regards your comments about where too....where to depends on the level of detachment....when you fall asleep you detach from the senses....the Hun likes to go and do a bit of wandering at this stage...here's a bit more relevant information from the LNG website. Link to the full article is here https://lotusneigong.com/yang-sheng-fa/ Sleep practice – later on in the Nei Gong training you can learn sleep practice. It is used particularly to harmonize the relationship of the Hun and the Po, the spirits that make up our soul. The Hun is considered Yang, it is the ethereal and eternal soul. The Po is our mortal soul; it is Yin and the aspect or our mind that connects us to physicality. The Po roots the Hun in physicality, without this foundation the person would be delusional. In Chinese thought it is said that our Hun (Soul) goes wandering during the night into spirit realms. When the Hun and the Po are in balance you stop dreaming. You will only “dream” when the Hun needs to tell/warn you about something in your future. It can warn you about future negative events that are going to take place in your future and Ming/destiny if you carry on living in the way you are, or it can, for example, show you when there is going to be a major change in your life. The Hun and the Po’s relationship give an interesting explanation to why one can feel confused when waking up in the morning. During the night the Hun has been able to move freely in the spirit world, and when awakening one becomes restrained by the Po because it connects us to physicality. Soul Travel – Another thing you can do whilst sleeping is to practice soul travel. You can leave your body and travel in different realms if you manage to free your Ling from the physical body. In order to be able to do this you usually need to have practiced many years of Nei Gong or other internal practices.- 13 replies
