So what's the deal between qigongs and dreams?
[email protected] replied to qicat's topic in Daoist Discussion
I am afraid I'm not ready to test whether I am sleeping or not jumping out of buildings :). Speaking seriously, I never managed to stay in a dream after understanding that its a dream for more then several seconds. And in addition, successful cases when I awaked were rare. So I stopped this practice because it seemed me useless. -
So what's the deal between qigongs and dreams?
[email protected] replied to qicat's topic in Daoist Discussion
I had similar practice some time ago, but every time I managed to realize that I am dreaming in that particular moment, smth made me slowly awake without a possibility to stay in a dream. This practice was very interesting to do because every evening I was guessing if I awake inside the dream or not. But I guess this practice leads us from reality to some unreal worlds. Rgrds, Ilya -
Taoist Enlightenment : UG Krishnamurti

No, when you talk about enlightened qualities you are still trying to get something. You are not ready to die. That's how most people approach spirituality, they want to stay themselves and then add something to it. The strange thing is that half of spirituality is based on people trying to add something to what they are; the other half of spirituality is genuine. He did not say he was depressive or in pain, he lived in exceptional health his whole life. The process of change though was very painful, he called it the calamity, the sudden shattering of his identity. In my experience people who talk of qualities they have are in shallow states. They sort of get to live the dream, they remain as they are but are able to experience so aspect of awakening and feel great. They can broadcast quite a lot of noise about their discoveries and powers and discuss different energies and faculties and whatever. Then those who are surrendered are different they are quieter, they are absorbed, they don't care which qualities they have because they know it's meaningless. And then there are those who are finished and aren't really alive in the ordinary sense. Some teachers play a sort of act, like J. Krishnamurti. He gives them what they want, polite English spoken very sweetly saying lots of nicey nicey things all above the line. Others promise energies and healings in big gatherings, again this kind gives them the spectacle that they want. Some like Sadhguru answers any question on earth, because being enlightened means you can do that of course. Anyway, for me I like those like Nisargadatta, oh he makes me laugh. Sitting in his crappy little brass lamp shop selling crappy string-wrapped packs of beedi cigarettes to the bums of Mumbai for 1/2 a ruppee, with the smog and stink of Mumbai streets coming through the door. He sits with some students and screeches like a saw hacking through steel ... he screeches his Advaita teaching. Him, I like !!!! -

one more and I'll stop spamming... even though not from a 'taoist'... it resonates harmonically and deeply for me “If you prefer smoke over fire then get up now and leave. For I do not intend to perfume your mind's clothing with more sooty knowledge. No, I have something else in mind. Today I hold a flame in my left hand and a sword in my right. There will be no damage control today. For God is in a mood to plunder your riches and fling you nakedly into such breathtaking poverty that all that will be left of you will be a tendency to shine. So don't just sit around this flame choking on your mind. For this is no campfire song to mindlessly mantra yourself to sleep with. Jump now into the space between thoughts and exit this dream before I burn the damn place down.” ~ Adyashanti -
Yes one of them is me but not much others here yet you post the most. Someone else doing something somewhere very important stuff but not yourself proves something? Can you even prove that you exist beside speaking about what others are doing? What I'm trying to say is I'd like to know about this investigation just as anyone and would be glad if someone provided their methods on how did they did it, how good they are at recognizing other "entities" etc and who are these people in the first place? I'm saying that anyone with capabilities can alone with more ease access a deity or an angel trough standing close to Jeff without even doing any practices with him nor him knowing what is going on. This makes him safe and no deity will harm you since we all know deep inside how to relate to them what you are spreading is just fear based on 0 experience. If you look around Jeff with your astral eyes you will see all kinds of positive energy beings. Something you can just dream about! It's crazy that you pity "many who are searching" as if they are incapable of handling themselves as if you can correctly judge people which is just your own pity projection upon folks. Nobody needs your self pity let alone help that is based on that. Its also easy to throw such remarks on empathy and speak like this on the internet while hiding who you really are and how abused you actually are. Let alone judge who is a "spiritual infant" - one of the most stupid things I have read here so far. Some people just wake up and that's it, they certainly don't need you the "spiritual parent" to hold their infant hands I'm perfectly aware of that. Also shouldn't you blame the owner Sean since he allowed for all the abuse in the first place? Wouldn't it be better to deal with Jeff directly either trough court or other institution if it's that serious and sort of spare everyone else from the crossfire? This is just distasteful.. Oh wait now I remember you.. You are that guy that kept hiding under the wings of Karen and Dawei when I was fighting for unjustice being done upon Taomeow. Yeah I remember you, you never went trough but you kept hiding sort of getting trough it with your witty political clown responses. I wouldn't be surprise if you secretly hoped to suck it up to the mods and become one of them at the time but Shiva stopped you right in your tracks. Otherwise you never seemed to have a problem with Karen and Dawei as people nor admins executing their will and now you are speaking "common sense" that any gang member can say and use as an excuse for evicting a person or doing personal attacks! As far as I remember the moment I met Karen and Dawei I investigated Jeff right away as I was already introduced to the drama and knew that I should do that in order to make good for others and I never hid my exploration and shared them for no other reason than that. Read this as many times you need until you stop wondering and lying to yourself about me. What do you have against elephant ass sphincter?? It exudes quite a shining warmth for your blind eyes! Love thee elephant you blind fool! Haha you don't know what a cult is since your wikipedia definition can be applied to literally every home and family out there. Cult is never that open to everyone so you can't really go in and out as you please. I was also a victim in my past of various influences and I know one of the best things one can do is grow out of it assume responsibility and forgive! Also I do support fighting for your soul if that is what you guys want at the moment then OK but I have a very good reason to say that people need to fend for themselves. Yet you think you are smarter then that. You rather spread demons and entities which you have no clue about and then say its others that got caught up in it, this is how smart you are.. Why don't you just drop it instead? With your logic I bet you that none of the posters on this forum wouldn't be even be able to find a hospital or a court outside their home but instead they would inadvertently walk into a coffeshop and log into DaoBums seeking for professional help Of course you would be outside the door operating with your political powers LOL PS What if you are wrong.. What then?

Why are there fewer women than men in search of Enlightenment and Freedom from Samsara?
Aaron replied to SunLover's topic in General Discussion
I will tell you a story of a little boy who kept his hands wrenched so tightly together, his heart beating each beat with a longing, like the thump of a drum. Thump! Thump! He came to his mother, his eyes a glimmer with desire. He touched her and she recoiled. He shrank back, afraid, not knowing what he had done wrong. He spoke to her, but she would not listen, not really listen, rather she always found a flaw in what he said. But still he tried, for any boy needs the love of his mother and he was just like any boy. He watched his mother with his father and he realized she was the same with him. She led him to love through traps, tricks, those things she made him do, belittling him and only when he felt small and worthless would she take him in her arms and say, "I love you." So the boy sat in her lap, his heart beat thumping, savoring this moment, looking up at her, wishing it would not end, but it did. He kept thinking that it would change, not really knowing what it was, yet it never did. Over and over the boy came to her, shameful and wanting, just desiring to feel her arms wrapped around him, holding him tightly, her soft kiss upon his forehead, to smell that sweet smell of soap and shampoo. And when she did hold him in her arms, he regretted that he wanted her to hold him, for each time she showed him love he lost a bit of himself. Now I will tell you the story of that boy, almost a man. He looks at the women around him and sees his mother, sees all the things she did not do for him, but he wanted her to do. Almost a man, he knows the darker things in life, but he cannot separate the desires he had, an innocent longing for a mother's embrace, from the longing he has for the woman he passes on the street. Each woman he sees is his mother. He is certain that there was nothing different about his mother, if that was so, does that not mean there was something different about him and even with his father? The young man seethes with jealousy when he sees a woman and man together. He seethes when he sees a mother holding her son's hand, the happiness they share is like a knife in his mind. No, they are all the same. To want what he has had, it seems unfathomable. He sees a family as a curse, a mother as a monster, and a father as a weakling. However, if this young man could just rub his eyes, clear away the years of sleep from his soul, perhaps he could see the world awake and real around him. He could see that what he had was a dream, not the real world. That his dream was not the dream of the waking, but the sleeping boy inside himself. Then, only then, could he awaken to find someone, not the mother that lives in his dream, but the mother he has always wanted and that mother could be the mother of his children, the mother who would love his son like he wanted to be loved. He could hold her tightly and feel what he wanted to feel, but is so afraid to feel now. Wake up child! You're dreaming! Look around you and let yourself see the beauty the world holds. This life is not the life you must live, but a life you can live. The pain within is not the pain you must hold onto, but something that can be given up. Let it go and let yourself feel the beauty this world has to offer. Aaron -
Of course there is always someone else to blame or get credibility but never yourself. If anyone here really cared to stand up for people they would already do it by themselves and investigate Jeff or anyone in his group trough at least either lucid dreaming or astral traveling but none of you really has the courage to do it yourself. The truth sucks really and hiding your fear behind reason is what cowards do. I have done my part and did dream about who Jeff is and witnessed the energy he radiates more clearly then while awake on multiple occasions and also asked the Jinn beings about him since I'm in regular contact with them (and not only with them) and have written about this already. Seems nobody knows if this is true since they can't confirm anything for themselves regarding the matter so I guess you choose to take my word for it or not or just start practicing. Also if any of you gets some stupid trash idea that I'm sort of inclined to hold your hand and cooperate in your self indulgence and incompetence I have to tell you that I don't do any free readings nor am I at "public service" for money or whatever else as I only follow the Spirit and not the "common world" and its rules by any government, internet space, forum, dialogue, reason, nicknames or whatever "god" most of you bow and are confined to. Now speaking of Jeff I confirmed he is in contact with Angels and Deities which is always great and saying this is dangerous is like saying that life is dangerous or having kids is dangerous. Your an idiot if you think so and expecting someone else to have responsibility for you since you are incapable of handling life is sad. Why would anyone hold your hand all the time that's disgusting especially since you are not a small child anymore but old enough to conduct yourself! Also what are the exact psychological issues discussed here? If there is a psychological damage suspected please go to the doctor for a checkout see what the doc says and find a lawyer or just go to court like anyone normal (or anyone that would go vote) if you feel this is the right thing to do you will get support you all the way. If you don't feel this is normal then please.. You got all sexy and then got scared when things got naughty end of story. If you want to get married then well consider having sex after the marriage not before and whatever happens in the bridal chamber stays in the busty, direct, open, strong working space! Understood fucktards? Otherwise you are a cheater, an imposter snitch, a moaning bitch and a sad joking clown. Also why would new members be insulted here with your own incompetence with interjecting every energetic connection taking place as if you know whats going on between people in life acting as you know it all? This is what happened to me and I didn't like someone interjecting with personal drama as I was learning new energies. All you posters here think only about yourselves and don't really count everyone in. Nobody really needs help unless they ask for it themselves. As for "vampires" or other "entities" this is quite serious to state but sadly posters on this topic have no damn clue what an entity or a demon is nor if they really exist and how can they actually validate what is happening for themselves. You need someone else to tell you right? A teacher or a book? What are you gonna do fight demons by talking your way trough them? Haha.. You can't even stay on topic for that matter let alone stop spamming please stop lying to yourself that you are doing something right here. You are addicted and can't stop. Speaking of responsibility this is not good for anyone let alone you it only perpetuates egomania and the worse part of it is that you started enjoying it. How about I propose a new rule since I administrate another forum, own one myself and have helped moderate a few already. Ban users temporarily or permanently that are trolling by making off topics, spamming (limiting posts per day or topic etc) and not respecting the owner doing so while keeping everything so far and go from there. Just so everyone can chime in not just the loudest as it takes time to read as well let alone write. Nobody can put up with this type of daily spamming outside of the forum unless being in a drugged environment. Fuck off into the rabbit hole you damn trolls In the end do you people know whats disturbing the most? Not letting your Spirit shine. Simple as that. Not letting your Spirit shine! Now go on. Amuse!

there are 2 errors in your assertion, and one questionable remark. The two errors are 1. That it was a dream, and 2. That you were accused. The questionable remark is that Ilumairen ‘KNOWS’ my claim is not true. I will post my part of a private conversation I had with Jeff regarding my assertion at the time it actually happened, because this issue needs clarity. I won’t post Jeff’s part of the conversation in the interests of pm privacy. Now why would ilumairen KNOW this isn’t true?

It's called attachments. Pretty basic spirituality. We don't go after anyone. I have gone after one person because they accused me and others of astral rape which you KNOW is not true. They had a dream and then wanted to blame it on us. Then went on to attack us for years. There are tons of threads here at the bums with people attacking us and we rarely answer back. Has anyone went after you? Mentioned your actions and the effects your practices have had on others even after being warned? Nope. You attack and we don't say a thing. Nobody is expected to recruit anyone. I have never asked anyone to recruit people. I have never, ever been mad at you for not recruiting anyone. If i remember correctly you were upset with me because my posts at the bums would wake you up. That even when I was right in a debate about Rigpa I should have just stopped instead of debating others. You were upset that I lead dives and didn't give you and others more of an opportunity to lead them. You can be upset with Jeff all you want but you don't have to lie and make up stuff. Also, yes I do believe Jeff, I and others can help people. I have seen it to many times to doubt it. Offering help is not a bad thing. You don't have to stay, you don't have to accept. Maybe you try it and it is not your thing. No other explanation? No other reason possibility beyond what you think was going on? You really think it is all about power? You are just assuming but never asked? Maybe it was about the other person and had nothing to do with you? Also, thank you for the blanket method. I use it all the time. Clear your obstructions and realize the clarity underneath it all. I have never heard Jeff or anyone at PW use the term weak or that someone is bad. I have also never heard Jeff use the term powerful as a reference to himself when working with someone. Again, no need to respond. I won't be checking back for an answer. I just thought I would add a little perspective.

I'm looking into Deep Sleep, sometimes known as Slow Wave Sleep (SWS). Its considered the most rejuvenating and restorative sleep stage. Its when the glymphatic system removes neurotoxins and beta-amyloids**. PHYSIOLOGY OF N3 SLEEP EEG: slow-wave brainwaves Decreased heart rate Decreased blood pressure Release of growth hormone No eye movements EXPERIENCES DURING N3 SLEEP Very difficult to wake up from deep sleep If awoken, disorientation and grogginess FUNCTIONS OF N3 SLEEP Cell repair and rejuvenation Replenishing glycogen Long-term memory Removal of waste from the brain: glymphatic system I want to find out if any meditation style or length of meditation either simulates Deep Sleep or increases it at night. Anecdotally things that help general sleep tend to increase Deep Sleep ie not eating, drinking a few hours before bed, limiting or eliminating caffeine and alcohol etc., I found studies where meditation increased REM sleep but haven't found one yet for Deep. I'll keep looking. While branches of Taoism took dream work very far, many sages wrote that deep dreamless sleep was the real aim at night. Try Pink Noise: (https://www.sleepscore.com/extend-deep-sleep/)A recent study by Northwestern Medicine found that pink noise, like waves lapping on a beach or trees rustling in the wind, increased time spent in deep sleep. While the study only observed thirteen participants, it’s an exciting discovery in the world of sleep solutions. A 2014 study in U of Fribourg found audio hypnotics could increase deep sleep by 80%. Exercise helps too. **https://landing.ouraring.com/ln1d-stages-of-sleep?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=IP_US-CA_G|s-o-s-ln1_ln1d&utm_term={keyword}&utm_content={creative}&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAiAg9rxBRADEiwAxKDTuoQSd0dJ7KH_pXfUGCE2BUnxBE_EjbftNMK23VXFI7-tDFSft8kBchoCfNUQAvD_BwE)

Town Hall Meeting on Self-Governance for TDB Re: No Mods or Sean Currently
SirPalomides replied to Earl Grey's topic in General Discussion
For starters, anyone who publicly claims to be a master of anything, or offers some spiritual service, should be expected to give a detailed account of their qualifications, lineage, teacher, etc. Members should rigorously grill them until a satisfactory account is given. “Buy my book and find out” is not an acceptable answer; “the Lord Lao appeared to me in a dream” can only work if accompanied by a humble recognition that this claim is unverifiable by others and therefore no one is bound to respect it. Those “masters” unwilling to give such an account (and there could be legitimate reasons) should be accordingly circumspect and unassuming. Publicly offering services for money on the forum or threatening those who question your authority should be grounds for ostracization and pestering until the person reforms or departs. -
I dont have to imagine that as I have experienced it . No, of course not ( I am hoping to get the point soon ) Well, once I was in a deep and dreamless sleep and my wife yelled at me to get up and do some yardwork .... and apparently ( from objective testimony - me being in dreamless sleep ) I " grunted" . But maybe I wasnt in dreamless sleep and I just didnt remember my dream when I woke up ? Of course not and an 'active thinking human mind.' does not constitute ' I ' . An active thinking human mind is ;that which perishes' .

Tibetan Buddhist and Bön tantra and dzogchen lineages teach practices to retain awareness in the bardo. In the Bön teachings, the Mother Tantra has practices of dream and sleep yoga, phowa, bardo, and tummo. The lineages are credible, traceable, and the teachers accessible.

I wasn't aware. That's interesting now. Would you mind sharing your experience of being prayed upon? Regarding Amma, I understand her mind is at light level? I do sense she has some connections going herself. So I'm not fully sure but it seems so. Do you think she is not? It's not from him. I kind of put them in the background after the initial year or so. And haven't connected to Jeff's space in a while. Or other people there. I usually connect in the background to 'smaller' entities light Hanuman and those with light that is more bodily based / non-"light". The energy is real manomaya kosha. I don't get sick anymore and I sleep with my window open all winter. I have stayed outside in my garden barely clothed, until toes freeze, on purpose. And a lot of things like that, to test my self. I don't get sick anymore. I'm a male in my early 20s. I don't get wet dreams anymore. EVER. I've been celibate a few times, a month, two or so. Sleep is safe. I've even watched porn right before bed lol, but no wet dream. I know my body before I started these things. I have had some massive chi transmissions in this time as well and didn't really work out for the past 2 years. Quite a sedentary lifestyle. So wet dreams should have been as regular as the tax man. This is one that makes me really happy Because sometimes you sleep at friends house, etc.. I've had a few instances of going without sleep and without food as well, and this energy takes me deeper in consciousness by a lot. Those things don't affect me anymore. My mind comparatively to before is always focused. Of course I always notice more "weakest-chains". But I'm super clear, senses as well. Like I said, this is a mental energy, manomaya kosha. I don't get a bodily pump from this but I can workout and tense my muscles similarly as if I ate food or done some concentration practice. but yes, there's bodily voltage to it. Most of my work is focused on the atman and anadamaya kosha and for obtaining siddhis. It has improved every aspect of it. I don't really do much with Jeff, or 'his' group. Only about 2 weeks ago I decided I should pick up the pace some more with his practices. Feel free to post your problems with him but saying it's all illusory is not that true. Or saying it's DANGEROUS, I want clarification being involved myself.

Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential
manitou replied to C T's topic in Buddhist Textual Studies
I think there are two different ends of the spectrum. At one end is our sentient experience, the dream within which we have become fully engaged, the experience that has evolved to a societal code of conduct. This matter that we think we actually are, in reality, is a dream. Matter breaks down into atoms, atoms into the nothingness of ideation. For some unknown reason, we are the experiencers experiencing the experience in a mutual fashion. It is within this paradigm that such things as compassion and good and evil exist. The other end of the spectrum is the void. It is not linear, it's all here and now, it underlies all ideation and sense of what we think of as reality. It does not contain separation, and it does not care which of us lives and dies, as it is all the same thing anyway. It is the nothingness underlying potentiality. In this sense, things like compassion are not relevant. To use nature as a guide, nature is cruel in the sense that things eat and live on other things. Compassion in the wild is an aberration, perhaps a coincidence. I think we're talking about apples and oranges. Like quantum physics -we are both the particle and the wave. We are here and we are not here. We are all of it and we are none of it. In that sense, both aspects of morality are valid. -
^ Have you or anyone actually tried his philosophy? Which seems to be love > animalistic sex, minimize excitement, no foreplay, go in firm, harden inside from love only, become still to avoid ejaculation, etc? I'm skeptical because it seems like the complete opposite of what my whole dream experience was like. His sedated approach seems grounded in avoiding shame for carnal lust. Whereas, my approach was first releasing that shame with ZHENGONG...and then fully letting go in the experience without reservation. As in, it's not so much any particular beliefs about sex that are the problem...it's the emotional shame surrounding any of them that are. For example, you could have shame about desiring "nonspiritual" casual sex outside of "love" or shame about being a virgin or sexually-inexperienced (incel). What matters not so much isn't the "hang-up" itself, but the SHAME/GUILT carried for it. I believe that is the true obstacle that should be removed to clear your energetic body.

End Game Gold star White rose In my head Snow blows No heaven above No earth below No opponent ahead No ruler in tow Empty chair Empty days Empty book Untold ways Stopping short Fitting in Going along Blazing within Ruthless life Ruthless art Ruthless dream Female heart Assessing chaos In a single turn Ruthless compassion Does not burn The Commentary Gold star White rose In my head Snow blows Gold is most precious; with superior conductance and exuding a warmth and lustrous beauty like no other metal the more it is worked and polished; gravitas. Progenitor of a world, a star symbolizes realization of dreams, desire, accomplishment, magic, cosmic knowledge, power, consciousness, energy, light. White is purity, death, emptiness, openness, the extreme of polar axes, sharp distance, vertical inaccessibility. Self-evident, sincere, pervasive florescence, unrivaled variety, a rose beheld visually incomparable, yet can dissemble at a touch in its fullness and delicacy. Wild snow, free-form spontaneity, impersonal, crystalline, pristine, individually unique despite relative similarity, viciously cutting or pillow-soft in turns. Adepts have these psychological attributes and accomplished postures of attitude. Those who aspire to enlightening being do not cling to anything; free, independent, unpredictable, inaccessible, untrammeled, serene, unperturbable. Such a one is capable of killing buddhas and demons alike. Shining with a clear light and a freshness and purity of uncompromising intent To unhesitatingly see all the way through. No heaven above No earth below No opponent ahead No ruler in tow This stanza is an ancient ritualized proclamation uttered by a great general on his way to war after having walked in procession on the left side in honor of death and having accepted the ceremonial battle-axe from the emperor. This is its operational dictum. Entrusted with the means to victory, the army is a power unto itself. Its effect arrived at by deception only to save the lives of the population and eradicate the corrupt. An encapsulation of a force of intent within the inconceivable perspective of nonbeing This is the strategy of selflessness whether hidden in defense or attacking from the heights Assessing advantage and weakness in oneself and other objectively and responding impersonally Neither seeking honor nor avoiding blame; acting only when advantageous and dismissing emotionalism. Victory depends on other; to win without fighting is best. Empty chair Empty days Empty book Untold ways The key word in this whole passage is Untold. This is how to relate to emptiness as is. Complete reality is just this. This has never been told in numberless eons. If you know it, but you are not even one bespoken to say there is no saying it, this is reality as is, and you are as free and untrammeled as your original face before your parents were born. Before a single thought, this is emptiness, suchness as is, unattributable. So it is not something. Nor is it something without attributes. It is unattributability itself. This is the real. Why? Because reality as such having no attributes is your selfless aware nature; one must still take the forward step oneself, without hope or regret. This stanza represents living one's life as such. What could be more natural? And who could ever tell of it? From this point on, the song delves into the realm of the Untold. Stopping short Fitting in Going along Blazing within Outside of traditional mental hygienics as a means to save energy, when one has passed through the veils and tasted the scenery of singularity and has planted the seed of immortals in the homeland of nothing whatsoever and the Golden Flower opens, one gains access to the workings of the Virtue of the Receptive. Sudden realization is a most fortunate event because the compulsion to act unawares is forgotten forever. In its stead is the remnant of nonbeing, aglow, blazing within your breast. Having passed through the Mysterious Female once, one retains, nurtures, develops this power of immediate acquiescence to further enter the mystery. So one uses the power of Receptivity to step over eternity, hide one's light, enter the marketplace and walk with hands open in order to meet the world fully without holding anything back. This is advance practice. Taoism calls this setting up the furnace and cauldron again, performing tasks in everyday ordinary situations unbeknownst to anyone. As before, it isn't really doing. It is selfless response according to the situation. The Art of War states that "victory depends on the other". Immediate acquiescence is selfless adaption. As before (in preliminary alchemic operations of advancing and withdrawing the fire), one follows the course of the yin convergence and withdraws the fire at the first sign of the killing energy of polluted yin energy and gathers potential, sealing it securely. Follow desires and go along with situations to introduce guidance; then stop short as the killing energy arises. Every cycle of yin and yang requiring operation of yin convergence. You do this as before: by not-doing in withdrawl. Over and over and over, for absolutely no conceivable reason, you follow the cycles of evolution in ordinary situations without speculating in potential inherent in the polluted energy of created worldly situations. You must realize there is no hope involved, either before or after; whether giving or taking; expanding or receding, and no one knows. Selflessness is not a matter of caring for people in a special way— it is the way of adapting to circumstances according to people's capacities and neurosis. One uses the fuel inherent in the situation itself. The energy itself dictates your response, which is immediate; not requiring a dust-mote from outside. Ruthless life Ruthless art Ruthless dream Female heart So taking this to the limit of the limitless, adapting to conditions before and after; only then letting the world go on without you without entertaining hope, without misgivings, immovable, seeing each situation through, you find out what really happens. Even though you go along with conditions, you neither invest in nor speculate in outcomes. Having stepped over eternity, time, in terms of situations, is plastic. It is truly up to oneself to stretch or prolong times. One simply does not have any capacity for such things as hope— as hope is an utter time-sucker dependent on outcomes. Outcomes are for those who are invested in selfish reasoning. Selfless awareness completely annihilates time, hope, craving, outcomes. Hope in what, for what? This is not a matter of hopelessness either~ this is the power of the Mysterious Female, transcendent. Ruthlessness is in terms of the world's perspective preferring outcomes. End-Gaming is not concerned with them at all. The End Game has no such preference. The End Game has absolutely no relationship to the world in terms of created energy other than using the world's own momentum to meet conditions. There is no sense of separation because End-Gaming already has tacit accord with the real within the false. No outside energy expended; effortless, spontaneous, selfless. Those who, lacking faith, confused and thinking there is actually something to be avoided or denied in terms of lacking working relationships with suchness, emptiness, potential, or else juggling puny moralistic judgements of right and wrong, stumble past the real time and time again; only degrading themselves and taking misery for pleasure, never in their lives knowing an end to it. Seeing through conditions without denying characteristics is giving oneself without holding back. Even as the world seduces you relentlessly, and you can respond appropriately, still you do not crave desire or results, neither pandering to the future nor second-guessing the past~ there is only life, art and dream of an empty, open, ruthless Mysterious Female heart. Assessing chaos In a single turn Ruthless compassion Does not burn Which brings us to the last stanza of this song. Where not a single word applies. ed note: delete "the" from "there is only the life, art and dream…"

Hello my name is Marc, I am 30 years old and I reside in The Netherlands. I am a self realised person and I strife to complete myself in this embodyment From as early as I can remember i've always had a sense of purpose and a feeling of uniqueness. I was not brought up religiously yet the true nature of creation, God's Dream has found resonance within my Soul. Or as I understand most know it here as the Dantien. I have faced tremendous adversary and hardships in my life, some imposed upon me by society under guise of teaching how to 'be', by fellow man trying to manupulate me or even by self imposed wrongdoings. These experieces have thought me valuable life lessons. That in turn I can share with my friends, so that they might be spared the pain of wrongdoings and hard knock lessons of life. By no means am I perfect yet in my actions and thoughts, yet I strife to be perfect in every moment of the day. I have read and have studied most, if not al books of wisdom that have caught my attention. In my experience books, people or information in general are attracted into ones life to better make sense of creation and only serves as aide in our perception therof. Truth is ever evolving and never stagnant. By no means should we look external as mote of being. As God said unto Man: "Everything you need is allready within yourself. When you are balanced within, I am with you." Apart from my spiritual inclinations, I have a passion for growing plants, childrearing, animals and gathering and sharing wisdom. Currently I am doing dantien meditation by my own methode. It is similar to John Chang's level 1 and 2 methode and Japanese Hara meditation. I cannot assertain how full my dantien currently is. By my estimate I am near 15% of level 1. In my down time, I like to see movies and shows, do boardgames, go mountainbiking, and I play the ocasional videogame. I hope to connect with people with similar interests, I hope to learn and share and perhaps meet people. See you around! Marc

Awakening is usually termed in the context of dreaming, so at night you may dream you are this or that person having a variety of experiences, but then you wake up and in a few seconds you realise that it wasn't real and was a mental creation. Spiritual awakening is very similar in that you realise the person you thought you were is also a mental creation, so just as the person you create in the dream never wakes up you as a separate individual will also never wake up, rather you wake up from that to the realisation that you aren't that. Something else wakes up through you. So even if enlightenment happens it won't happen to you. But just because you have woken up from being a human it doesn't mean no suffering, what is left of the psyche can react in a multitude of ways including fear and terror. For example Suzanne Seagal wrote about her experiences in her book "Collision With the Infinite" and she clearly had an awakening but spent most of the rest of her life in confusion and fear. I personally did a retreat last year where one Finnish woman woke up and spent the two weeks crying and was as white as a sheet the entire time. There may be no suffering from the perspective of awake space but that doesn't mean that your entirety and all the different areas of your psyche shares this perspective. There may be no past or future from the perspective of awake space but all your survival conditioning passed down both genetically and karmically over hundreds of years/lifetimes isn't going to give up its grip so easily.

A nation needs boarders. And rules for immigration, citizenship and entry. Compassion's needed too. We are a nation of immigrants, and a nation of hypocrites. Immigrants (legal and illegal) pick our food, mow our lawns, build our buildings, take care of our elderly. We need them, for there work and there future taxes.. and there vitality; they tend to be better at the American dream, then the average American. So I'm willing to be a hypocrite to make illegal immigration hard, but not impossible or deadly.. Build fencing, but also allow in more legal immigrants, perhaps a new tier of short term status. Create a computer check in/probation program; saying where you are, what you're doing. For those doing well, a path to citizenship. For those not.. short term is short term. A real solution has to holistic. Covering what they need and what we need. Intelligence and compassion. Imperfect but not mass criminalizing. Part of that may be economic partnerships. Government and Business seeing what can be grown and built better over there. How those profits can be used and expanded to create better conditions so there's less need to risk everything to come to the U.S. Hard but worthwhile. We are too wealthy and need to be too good to allow our neighbors to live in hopeless dystopia. For there sake and ours. It won't happen overnight, it won't be perfect, but a long term plan can be made, without vilification or too much injustice and we can find a sweet spot where the most people will benefit.

Thanks Walker for all this information. To become a 居士/ 道教徒 is there a formal initiation of any kind, as with the Buddhist Three Refuges/ five vows ceremony? Also, I'm wondering if you read the book Dream Trippers and particularly the chapter on Dr. Louis Komjathy, who seems to have spent serious time in Quanzhen monasteries, and is quite scrupulous/ respectful with regards to the formal structure of Quanzhen, but whose master Chen Yuming (陳宇明) initiated him (he believes as a daoshi) in a rather informal way. This apparently bothered Komjathy enough that he pressed Master Chen for some kind of certification, to which Chen replied that the public ceremonies and certificates were useless with all the fraud and simony going on in China. Chen also dismissed the title "daoshi" as an empty formality which has more to do with government recognition than a real transmission. I assume Master Chen's view is definitely in the minority- and I am not bringing it up here to establish or prove anything contrary to what you said above- but he does seem to be well respected on Hua Shan even after he left monastic life.

Colloquially in Chinese-speaking communities, daoshi and daozhang are often used quite interchangeably by the non-cognoscenti to refer to religious Daoists of Quanzhen, Zhengyi, and other orders who have been, in some way, shape, or form ordained. It can also be shorthand for "有道之士," or "an individual who has Dao," but that is not common to hear outside of literati circles and is separate from the discussion of people claiming to have formal roles in religious groups. When you speak to people who are "in the door," so to speak, these terms take on different meaning. In Zhengyi Daoism, there is a question of rank that differentiates daoshi from daozhang. A daoshi refers to a formally inducted Zhengyi Daoist at the beginning of his or her studies and clerical responsibilities. If his/her religious career advances he or she may become a daozhang, which means taking a more central role in rituals and, therefore, having much more knowledge of the liturgy, which is extremely complex and involves huge amounts of memorized text, stepping, music, visualization, and more. It is impossible to describe how complex a real Zhengyi ritual is to witness in person, but it is staggering. Needless to say, daoshi are many and daozhang are few in Zhengyi Daoism. Also, note that the character 長/zhang in this word here carries the connotation of "elder," similar to how it is used in words like "長輩/zhangbei/elders" or "學長/elder student in the same school," or "長老/zhanglao/elder [Buddhist monk]." in Quanzhen Daoism, daozhang and daoshi are used more interchangeably, but only to refer to those disciples of the Quanzhen order who have become monks or nuns, and never to describe lay disciples. There are higher ranks for monks/nuns in Quanzhen Daoism... One of them, 律師/lvshi, which is extremely important to understand here, I discuss below. Over the years I've met a lot of Wang Liping students and fans in China, for example, but not once did any of them ever call him a "daoshi" or "daozhang." I know a lot of Quanzhen lay disciples who have teachers who are monks or nuns, and they call themselves and each other 居士/jushi/from the Buddhist Sanskrit term "upāsaka/upāsikā;"俗家弟子/sujia dizi/"layperson disciple;" or simply 道教徒/daojiao tu/"disciple of Daoism." If there is similarity, it is probably unfortunate. Rinaldini's own website admits to an extremely short amount of time spent in China, most of it with the qigong master Wan Sujian, who although a remarkable man, is not and never was a Longmen daozhang. To be truly capable of serving as a Quanzhen monk or nun takes years of study, practice, training, and (often) wandering for a native speaker in a temple in China with living teachers. Rinaldini did not put in the time, and showing how far he has fallen from the mark, the bulk of his curriculum is Wan Sujian circle walking qigong and TCM, which are not important concerns for Quanzhen clergy. Can he even read classical Chinese? Can he hold a conversation about Daoism in modern Chinese with his teachers? (Those who see Rinaldini's bio and notice his claim to have been inducted as priests by a couple of Daoist monks should review my above posts in this thread about monks fucking watermelons and mistresses inside of White Cloud Monastery. The situation in China is a mess, and the selling of all kinds of ordination certificates to Westerners as well as other Chinese people is a major problem and has been basically ever since cutthroat capitalism-plus-spiritual-tourism took hold in the PRC in the early 1980s) I know nothing about them. However, when I have heard similar phenomena discussed by those who truly respect the traditional, orthodox teachings of the Dragon Gate, when similar things come up, they are usually called "incomplete transition," or else less polite terms. This may be related: in Taiwan there are "Quanzhen" groups that claim to have been connected to the lineage through spiritual events. The most interesting thing, to me, is that over time many in these groups have recognized that the transmission was incomplete, and a significant number of such practitioners are spending time in China to learn the old-fashioned way, human-to-human. There is even a group in Taiwan attempting to establish a strict Quanzhen monastery in the center of the island, and one of their explicitly stated motivations is the fact that the Quanzhen order has failed to produce outstanding leaders in a very long time, in no small part due to the chaos ("亂/luan," a character used to discuss Daoism's present state quite often in China as well as Taiwan by actual monks and nuns) that currently reigns. Of great relevance to this discussion is that the formal, ritual transmission of vows (傳戒/chuanjie) plays a central role in this movement in Taiwan. I say this having personally attended (but not received vows during) such a ritual in Taipei. They are taken extremely seriously and have been for long centuries, as I will emphasize below. No. As I said before in this thread, 火居/huoju/"living near the hearth [i.e., in a family at home]" roles for Daoists are not a part of Quanzhen Daoism, despite what a few Americans who spent a shockingly short amount time in China and would like to sell you robes and diplomas might have you believe. This nomenclature does not come from Quanzhen Daoism. There is no "priest/monk" distinction in China in the Quanzhen, and no Chinese words that translate into priest or monk to describe different roles for people in the Quanzhen order. It is ironic that Taomeow brought up the Daozang Xubian to suggest that in the era of its publication the Quanzhen movement slackened in some way to make way for lay "priests," and that Nathan then said her mention of this body of texts was "spot on." I would be shocked if either of them have read it. Part of the reason I asked if Nathan had actually read it--and which authors he thought backed up his and his teachers' claims--is because the primary force behind this project was a Daoist named Min Yide 閔一得. The crux of the irony lies in the fact that one of Min Yide's important works, 《金蓋心燈》(Jin'gai Xindeng or, roughly Jin'gai [Mountain] Heart Lamp) is a book in which great effort is expended to trace and document the lineages as well as primacy of a rank of Quanzhen Daoist called "律師/lvshi/roughly, "stricture master"), who were monks who were often abbots of Longmen temples, in particular because they were those who had thorough education in and ability to transmit all of the monastic vows and strictures, which, as I have said and this article makes so clear, included celibacy and many other rules. Once you get to page 10 of this scanned copy of 《金蓋心燈》, if you can read Chinese you can see that Min Yide began tracing the transmission of Dragon Gate teachings almost entirely through its important lvshi. Lvshi is a term that comes from Buddhism, where it means "vinaya master" (vinaya being the Sanskrit term for the monastic code). The Daoist implications are exactly the same, although one would not use the word "vinaya" to describe Quanzhen monastic rules, which although related to Buddhism's, are not the same. The role of the lvshi in the Quanzhen monastic tradition cannot be overstated, because the monastic strictures are the backbone of monastic living as well as the cultivation of 德/De, and only lvshi can transmit the full array of vows. The video below shows how massive, austere, and beautiful a vow-transmission (傳戒/chuanjie) ritual is in Quanzhen Daoism. This is not "wham, bam, PayPal'ed your tuition, took your webinars, came on your China Dream Trips, here's your certificate" transmission. Rather, this is a massive undertaking that only takes place every few years, because only a small number of Quanzhen Daoists are fully qualified as lvshi (the event shown here, which took place in 1995, was only the second such ritual held after 1949!). Monks and nuns travel from around the entire landmass of China to receive this sort of ordination, and they prepare for a long time in advance simply to even know what all of the minute rules are (I know a young monk who was preparing for it a few years ago, and he put it off to go attend a Daoist academy first, as he felt he was not yet up to the task of keeping up the austerities that are required of those who receive this level of monastic initiation). The irony here gets even deeper, I say with a sigh, because at minute 2:00 in the video the lvshi in charge of the entire ritual is introduced, one Master Fu Yuantian (傅圓天大師, a nineteenth generation Dragon Gate lvshi who was in the twenty-third generation in terms of his receiving full ordination as a lvshi, and thus has a different Daoist name--傅宗天/Fu Zongtian--to refer to his role here). This is ironic, because we can see the absolute respect paid to tradition here by Master Fu Yuantian... and this man is one of the main teachers of Zhang Mingxin, the nun who is evidently now telling all these Americans and other westerners that they can be "priests" in the Quanzhen Longmen without being ordained as monks or nuns! It's not just that Zhang Mingxin was his disciple--she even is on record recently quoting him about how important the strictures are and parroting his words to younger generations of Chinese disciples! Evidently somehow this central importance is being omitted for the Americans, who now would like to sell you "priesthood" for several thousand of your dollars and several precious years of your life. If only these American "priests" took the time to learn Chinese, study the Daoist Canon, and live in the communities they claim to represent, they might realize that something indispensable is missing from what they have been given. But given that they do not take the time to truly learn about the tradition, perhaps they just don't want to know.

People asking for free spiritual teachings even after they are kindly explained that the teachers' time should be fairly compensated. "Hey babe! I want to take you out for a dream dinner, but I don't have any money so you will have to pay. It's only fair because I am such a charming and nice guy." If you want to take your sweetheart to a free romantic dinner, there is always dumpster diving option available for a free range gourmet course. She'll love it how dedicated and frugal you are.
