Introduction to Dzogchen Retreat with B Alan Wallace
Jeff replied to konchog uma's topic in Buddhist Discussion
On not dreaming, I have not specifically read this in CNN's books, but as CT says, I thought it was common knowledge. Dreams are normally based on our unconscious. A big part of any path is effectively pulling the unconscious "into" the conscious. With the integration, one has control over their sleep. I can consciously control whether I dream or not. The body sleeps, but the mind resides in silence. But, I will look for specific CNN comments around it, if I find any I will get back to you. Regarding dreams in general, CNN tells many stories about insights coming from dreams of primordial Buddhas in "The Supreme Source", also as said by others, Dream yoga is part of Dzogchen. Here is an example from "The Supreme Source"... In the story of Garab Djorie... "he had marvelous dreams that predicted the appearance of the teaching "beyond effort"... When the king of the devas came to know this, he emplored the Buddhas to promulgate the teaching... From his heart Vajrasattva emanated Vajrapani... " Notice also the heart emanation point (for Alwayson). But, your point is valid, at this point I do not have any direct quotes for CNN directly referencing the dream connection. I was just assuming since the other two primordial paths use/experience it. If I find specific quotes detailing it, I will pass them on. P.s. CT your wise words are always appreciated (no butting in )- 451 replies

Good question. I'm not sure if it is limited to distance -- it might just rely on the shen/spirit/visualization for focus. For example let's say I have an "energy exchange" with a female. Let's say a young fertile female sees me and I her and then she goes into backside display behavior. So she stands in front of me with her backside right at my eye level so that my chi energy goes into her most efficiently. Obviously I have the predictable male reaction as this occurs. But what is less obvious is that her female jing energy is now "imprinted" in my body as a subconscious holographic memory -- stored there -- and WAITING to be sublimated later by my full lotus practice. When that sublimation occurs then the memory of her will also arise along with the internal climax on my part and who is to say there is not still some connection between us as I "exorcise" her sex energy? Still on "practical" terms I can say that I've tested the O at a D in a stiff strong gale wind -- just to see if it was just some chemical energy that might be blown off. Nope -- wind did not effect it. So I'm convinced it is the chi energy as my brain is definitely filled with the chi energy as the O at a D happens. That was still a visual connection despite the strong wind and a distance of a couple hundred feet. But visual connection is obviously not necessary. Through walls and ceilings is my current norm as sitting in full lotus in a trance tends to put off those not comfortable with ASCs. Lots of noise as my energy blockages clear out as well. The next door neighbor -- through the wall of a house and through the wall of another house -- is no problem. Even if the houses are not close together. But the farthest I can recall off-hand is from a next door neighbor with her back to me as she was probably 500 feet away. Not sure since I couldn't see her but I could HEAR her (again the female voice is the jing energy being transmitted back to me). BTW I've had PRECOGNITIVE "O at a Ds" as well! It happened to me this morning in a sense -- but one time I had a precognitive dream about a certain female doing a dance in front of me in a speciality grocery store. Strange dream as normally I can analyze my dreams to figure out the subconscious associations from the previous day that led to the dream. Anyway sure enough I had the "Glitch in the Matrix" experience when that dream came true in exact detail a few days later. Bizarre but it's happened to me enough -- once three years in advance!! -- that I got used to it to a certain extent. So it's not just distance but time as well -- and I'm really not sure it is limited. I think there has to be long-distance energy exchange involved as well.

Would you want to come to Earth again?
Everything replied to Everything's topic in General Discussion
Lol, I'm so jealous. Can you actually see spirits? So cool. I kind of admire that. I've always wanted to see spirits, but I can't, to the point of believing the earth plane is locked out in the dark where no spirit lingers. Like a prison. Cause that's what earth feels like to me, like a prison. I feel like I must have done something wrong to be locked in here. However, if you say there are spirits here, then that's totally new to me. It kind of shakes my foundational believe system. I do remember a dream where I was a spirit in a room with a wife who's husband was murdered and in tears and I was trying to comfort her and send her love. It was the most vivid dream ever. Don't spirits ever get bored, not having a body? Like... you can't do anything! Unless being a spirit brings with it amazing emotions that feel good all of the time. That would be nice. Then I'd rather be a spirit. Not that I can... Just a thought. Back to boredom I go. -
You have changed the question. Originally you asked how you deal with an attack, now you talk about how to deal with negative energy, that's different. If someone tries to hurt you or your loved ones, will you do nothing, will you be a coward ? It is very easy for Westerners to conveniently forget they are guarded by nuclear weapons, then they can dream all they want. This kind of perception is simply delusion caused by having it too easy and not seeing how things work, and having other people always look after you.

Only a person unfamiliar with a single truth would reply like that. ALL beliefs are Untrue. If I was to spew a belief, without explicitly saying it was a belief, and thus only an opinion, it would be better that an anvil be tied around my neck and thown into an abyss, than to interact on these threads. All object-ive truths are relative, and thus untrue. If I was to spew a relative or object-ive truth, then I would clarify it was merely an object-ive truth,...which is not a truth at all, but an opinion based on object-ivity. All empirical evidence is untrue. When I use the term truth,...it should be taken as absolute truth,...not an object-ive, personal, empirical opinion. "What is truth?" Pontius Pilate purportedly asked circa 28 CE in Palestine, according to John 18:38. For most, truth and reality have little value in everyday life. The majority merely desire dependable descriptions of an objective world that they consider intelligible. The wisdom and reality that arise from certainty would undermine the survival of their object-based beliefs and conceptual imagery. Few seem to realize that those considered priests of the scientific method have neither uncovered nor explained truth. That is not their job. Scientists have little interest in truth or reality, for their paychecks are derived from the pursuit of facts about objects. Science builds its theorems or working hypotheses upon previous beliefs, and therefore it often labels any discussion of absolute certainty as absurd. For example, to say that there is no "present in time" is antithetical to science’s established beliefs. Truth and reality confuse the priests of the scientific method. Their paradigm, or fixed set of beliefs, is founded on concepts of a materially existing world; that is, sciential theorems, not the sapiential truth or the reality beyond objects. Scientists, like most others who are uninterested in truth, are as characters within a dream who think that the dream is real. As truth and reality are taboo in the scientific groupthink, they cling to a faith in objects, to make the dream—and their attachment to separateness—more palatable. As the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Charles Townes said, "Many people don’t realize that science basically involves assumptions and faith."

You are nit picking, OK what do you fancy? There is always a trade off. Nor is the mining for various minerals used in smart phones, laptops etc. The production and dangerous nuclear generators of course produce plutonium used for making bombs. I really can't make any life changing bombs out of my solar panels, can you? The only clean energy production is probably an old wind mill or water mill. What would you prefer? A years holiday in the centre of Chenobyl if you like, or producing solar panels? One has to look at it in a balanced way. If you prefer Chenobyl, then go there and see how long you last. I'm not pretending, and delusion is not a pollutant, it is sometimes a dream/hope for a better life that people have when their lives are plighted. Do you remember Chenobyl or three mile Island? I am certainly not deluded, this is the last thing I would ever be. I am a very practical and skilled person who's feet are firmly placed on the ground. Currently, solar panels will last for up to 20-25 years. Not everyone has the chance to live in the countryside, so solar panels on house roofs offer a 20-25 year generating time that yes they have to be produced, but once up and running will save CO2 being produced else where and produce clean energy. Collectively, production may cause CO2, and some destruction of the environment mining for silicon etc, but if enough are produced and used over an extended period, alot of CO2 can be saved from going into the atmosphere. There is no risk of Chenobyl! If you are deluded about Chenobyl and the terrible risks, do some reading. I know what I would prefer, we had nuclear fall out hit our country from another and many animals and crops had to be destroyed and certain areas could not be visited.

Nope . You just cant seem to win one, eh NOONE ? This is a pentagon; thats why the building in the USA is called that ; What you posted is a picture of a pentaGRAM . A pentagram has a pentagon in the middle of its ....... pentals And what you posted is the flag of Morocco - It used to be plain red but In 1915, the green interlaced PENTAGRAM was added to the national flag, and it stands for Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom, and Justice. whereas the pentagon relates to hate, lies.war. oppression and corruption Perhaps you need a ' new angle on it ' ? A Pentangle ; " ...... Just sit and dream on the river bank Let my mind relax and let my consciousness be easy and free ... "

respect for the descision. even though, since you present the dream in this forum, i think maybe you would like a response on the symbols? i do understand that just parts of your dream have been exposed... old house is you and your body, and its ancient memory (dna, heritage)...max: the teacher, a male together with a female voice, expresses your inner feelings of whats working in the world..and clearly states that you will have to change your name, Your name summarises yourself. It is like a focal point around which your sense of self collects. So changing your name would suggest a change in the way you see yourself, or express yourself...and since a female spoke the change may be about feelings.or irrational parts of you..parts not yet integrated..how you perceive yourself emotionally.. well...this to me this sounds like a dream about what drew talks about intellectually (female formless awareness) and how max represents himself practically...with his female teachers, the heart.feel..bliss.. personally i think it is good to take the time to feel what EXACTLY put you off. i think your dream was instructional. do consider wther it was night or day, chilly or warm and whether the roof of your house was in place, if you were in the basement or a loft.. i am not advocating anything here. dream on. way to go! hug

Precisely. We may be close to agreement now: the one thing you can know is that you experience something. You seem to be conscious. It can all be a dream, yet it would still be a dream that you are conscious of. Descartes arrived at the same conclusion 400 years ago. So what are all those things we experience, and can we ever be sure that they are absolutely real? No, we cannot. And equally we cannot be absolutely sure that they are unreal. So the only thing left to do, is to accept the mystery that reality is - and start living it.

How does that work out for them ? It's a catch all isn't it. If you are dead then you don't know if things exist or don't exist. However, if you are stuck with life then real things happen. It's like a dream state. Not dissimilar from the matrix film idea - if you get killed in the matrix then you die because the body cannot live without the brain. In other words it's a real dream. As Morpheus said "what is real, it is your mind that makes it so". For all intents and purposes, somebody believing in dependent origination just has to do what the rest of us do until they expire. Kind of pointless.

I stayed with my abusive girlfriend out of fear she would kill me
Patrick Brown replied to Patrick Brown's topic in The Rabbit Hole
If I told you I just happened upon this on the BBC website this morning and after reading it thought OMG! Perhaps it's synchronicity, fate or whatever you wish to call it but I though it would make for a good discussion? As for my method of posting it's something I do due to time constraints but also to see what people have to say without a bias being installed from the get go. Perhaps you've already labelled me but in my defence, I didn't realise it was the 'women's zone', the other day, but also I think the inception of that thread was on the 'Talk Trump' thread but I could be wrong. Oh and there's the IS girl which you may also take offence at but it's big news here in the UK and most people feel the same as me about it. As for female murders in OZ perhaps start a thread about it and I may comment, or not? This thread is about something which is rarely talked about, at least here in the UK, so I think is deserves an airing. ---------------------------------------- As for me, as you seem so keen to know me, no I've never experienced anything similar to that poor guy. In fact in many ways my relationships have been OK-ish. I'm maybe just not as robust as most modern people, you know I haven't had 30 to 40 plus partners and lots of one-night stands. And I didn't have friends that say 'forget-em' and there 'more fish in the sea' blah, blah, blah. I'm probably fairly old fashioned in many ways. No I'm no angel but I'm also not the promiscuous type either and I always held onto the dream of a, not perfect, but a good relationship which I never quite found. After being on my own now for almost 20 years I'm happy and don't feel the need or a desire for a partner. I often joke that I'm happily single. So nothing complicated, no hidden motive or agenda just some guy happy to exchange a few ideas and learn a few things and have a chat. -
It should be a 5 - 7 - 5 cadence so you have us dead to rights This would be better With eyes wide open I still fall into the hole In my waking dream It is not magic Though it might seem so to be Call it eyes open.

Actually, I smiled at "you get what you pay for", with the implication that if you buy a dream, you get illusion. No. I have read Twickens book (Chia style). Well, I would not mind being equipped with a bag full of interesting abilities. My practice doesn't seem to go in that direction, and I wouldn't quit what I practice, widening my horizons on the other hand...... Maybe I should write a list. 1)My teacher, in a seminar in Sri Lanka, made a man fly back several times just by pointing at him (Ok, they thought he had mental issues, and my teacher have never managed to do this again, but that is beside the point). And there is a video of me, 1999, practicing Lin Kong Jing. I hope you never see that one 🤪 2) My teachers teacher claimed he could see through walls (that would have been useful when I was sixteen). 3) James McNeil claims he saw his 150 years old teacher levitate under the ceiling. I might find a use for that. 4) Damo Mitchell saw a man partially desintegrate before him. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Dream practice thrives on sperm retention and zinc/B vitamins. I've also had good luck with using some sort of foot vibrator or meditation type practice right before going to bed. I actually own a lucid dreamer machine that flashes lights into your eyes when you are in REM sleep. Never totally got the hang of it, though, I always wondered what was up with the flashing lights all the time. Didn't often make the connection. Casteneda, Winn, and Master Ron all say that dream practice depends on the power of strong intention before going to bed. Just keeping a written dream journal is a good start at becoming more mindful of dreams and more conscious in dealing with them. I'm not doing formal dream practices right now, but that is on the to-do list once I get some sort of long-term retention policy stably in place. I am enjoying extremely nice dreams these days, though. When you consistently dream something on a regular basis that means you are 70-80% complete on manifesting that quality, experience, etc. It's beneficial to go to bed in a great mood even if you don't care about dream practice. Sweet dreams! -Yoda

It wasn't experienced during actual physical death, therefore, it is an illusion. Why dream that when you know it is a dream ? You will create internal conflict. Isn't it your wish to wake up and be enlightened ? How can you when you allow the illusions you create to exist. If you simply wish not to face unpleasantness then I wish you well, that is entirely your choice, it is perhaps too much for you to cope with, but if you want to see reality then you must be brave. It is harsher to stop taking the mental pain killers, especially in the beginning, but you will be clearer and you will know the truth because you will never again allow anything but that truth to exist. That is purity of soul. That is action-less action. When there is no conflict, there is no false ego necessary to pretend to do those actions. I do no fear of death Manitou for there is nothing beyond it, but I certainly have a healthy fear of dying and I wish to keep it that way in order that I remember how to live life to the full and love endlessly.

Some people are serial dreamers, can naturally return to there dreams. Its a good thing especially if you want to do dream work, ie lucidity and beyond. I've found and I think science backs me up, waking up in the middle of the dream is great for recall but bad for feeling awake. There are some smart phone apps that try to measure you sleep cycle by when you move around, and they try to wake you up when you're not in REM. Otherwise waking up 30 minutes earlier or later may have you up outside your REM state

Its been a while since I listened to the LSD's tapes, but a majority of the tape is teachings from the tibetan view on dream yoga. Phenomenon is a dream like experience, one of many bardos type teachings. The practices are basic, but focus on experiencing a heart/mind posture of vast expanse. Good solid background. Norbu rinpoche focuses more on the use of the Ah symbol in various energy centers. He also goes into the different classes of dreams leading to dreams of clarity and clear light. His book Dream Yoga and the Practice of the Natural Light is excellent. He also has some great stories of his dream practices results which I enjoyed. Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche also has a great book and cd out on Dream Yoga from the Bon dzogchen tradition. The practices are very much like NR's but also discuss the postures of the practice. I've used them while on vacation since sleep tends to happen in stages and found them to be effective. A good friend who has done retreat time with Surya Das has told me that he teaches much the same thing as Norbu Rinpoche during retreat which makes sense since the dzogchen lineages share a lot of practices. Dzogchen usually places one of the 3 root syllables in energy centers, while the tantric practices will use yidams or awareness beings. Falling asleep running the mantra of a yidam while holding its image in the heart center has some interesting effects on your dreams.

So you are talking about the alien thought forms that may exist within the human psyche? But reptilian humanoids as shared on this thread as you call it to have existed in pop culture are not alien at all. They are infact, very much related to humans. Yes the ideas we have about them are alien thought forms that do not serve us. But point out those alien thought forms and call them alien life forms as termed by indigiouness... Well, your indigiouness must be very dream aware and very sensitive to human thought forms. Like literally, able to communicate with thought forms and see and touch and taste and smell them? -
Martin Armstrong predicts a top in the economic cycle October 1st and big changes afterwards. Already this is happening now in the EU with more than a million people trying to get in. More than one year ago I had a dream seeing fighting between natives and foreigners, so I guess the dream is coming true. October 1st will also be the end of the US budget and it has to renegotiated which will probably shut down the US government like we have seen before. Personally I have gone through a huge purging phase in September this year and my kids have been anxious, not sleeping well etc. A lot of stuff going on.

Something that comes from another person through dream state is usually bullshit. They are trying to guide you to do something, have a certain opinion, or terrorize you. At any point have you been able to seem the veins in your eyelids after you close your eyes?
