Actually ... that ^ was expected . And not only that ... the Spanish Inquisition itself was expected ...... they would send you a notice before they turned up ! Everyone expected the Spanish Inquisition because they told people they were coming. They gave written and verbal notice to their accused. They gave time to pack up all the valuables and sort our affairs. The accused if they lost their case (surprise surprise they invariably did) would see their property confiscated. Secret police then as now do not like to housework. And so the Spanish Inquisition or their minions let the damned know they had time to make everything ready for confiscation. Feeding prisoners has always been an expense, and so friends and family had to have time to ensure they could bring food to the prisoners and pay bribes to the wardens. Gelileo Galilei could have been reasonably expected to be expecting the Inquisition : How "unexpected" were investigations conducted by the Inquisition? We have a very famous example: 1611, Roberto Bellarmino, a Cardinal and important scholar in Rome, began preliminary investigations with regards to Galileo Galilei's theories on a heliocentric solar system, which if proven true begin to discredit the worldview as envisioned in biblical scripture. An inquiry as to his "heretical" past was also conducted by the local inquisitor in Padua, where Galileo had been studying the solar system. We don't know if Galileo was made aware of these initial investigations. However, the controversial nature of Galileo's work was well-known; by 1614 an ambitious Dominical preacher named Tommaso Caccini denounced several prominent scientists during a sermon in Florence's Santa Maria Novella church, and Galileo was one of those names. So it cannot have been a surprise for Galileo when the next year, Caccini deposited his accusations of Galileo's heresy (specifically, that he held that the earth revolved around the sun, tied to an accusation that his theory was born out of Galileo's lack of faith). In addition, the state apparatus of the Duchy of Tuscany, under whose patronage Galileo had been given a research grant at the University of Pisa without having any classes scheduled (a dream scenario for many academics) was well aware of the Inquisition having opened up a dossier on Galileo; the Tuscan ambassador to Rome knew all about the proceedings, and it is safe to say Galileo, who was frequently demonstrating experiments at the Tuscan Court in the Pitti palace, was similarly well-informed. So we can safely say Galileo was expecting the Inquisition. In fact, you could argue that Galileo was provoking the inquisition, personally arguing his case in Rome and staying three months to appeal the decision. He was, effectively, attempting to change the minds of the inquisitors, exasperating the Tuscan ambassador ("His humor is set on reasoning with the friars and fighting with them with which he can't but lose ... Staying away from this country would be of great benefit and service to him" wrote back the Ambassador). But Galileo didn't stop; and would provoke the church as well as scholars at the Roman College until he was summoned by the inquisition a second time, in 1633. Again, it can't have been too much of a surprise, he had spent years picking fights with Catholic Scholars: instead of limiting himself to writing down commentary on the appearance of three comets in 1618, he wrote a rebuttal to the published observations of a scholar at the Roman College. In 1624, after an audience with newly elected Pope Urban VIII, Galileo petitioned him to accept the heliocentric model of the solar system. After the Pope said no, Gelileo published a lengthy treatise on the solar system anyway. Although only published in 1630 due to complications tied to his health the Church insisted on his presence, and in 1633 he was summoned before the Inquisition again. Now, his book had already been banned in 1632, reinforcing the assumption that Gelileo Galilei could have been reasonably expected to be expecting the Inquisition. ( i bet you didnt expect this response )

Foundations of Internal Alchemy Wang Mu book
voidisyinyang replied to voidisyinyang's topic in Group Studies
Right so Wang Mu says that Zhang Boduan doesn't explicit mention the egress of the yang spirit manifestations - but at the same time says that reincarnation will still occur unless this Taoist stage is achieved. And so despite Zhang Boduan being declared a Chan Immortal by the Emperor - that was more for political expediency while in reality Zhang Boduan was really a Taoist immortal. Nevertheless in the spirit of the unity of the three religions Zhang Boduan does focus and emphasize the Emptiness meditation for the final stage of eternal liberation. And so Taoist Yoga makes the similar statements as Zhang Boduan - the "emptiness which is even more empty...." So then by rolling the eyes the Sun and Moon energies unite for the final leap into the Emptiness. So Taoist Yoga also says in this final stage the golden light will emerge out of the head as a golden body but at the same time a demon will also appear for the final test. So if the test is not passed then the person will still have to reincarnate. And so then by uniting the spirit into your heart as the seat of eternal essential nature then finally the "undying self" as the "true spirit" will manifest in front of the person - with the same features as the person. It should only leave the body once a week and in nice weather and during the day. After 6 months - then once every 3 days. After a year - then once a day. All that time the spirit body should be kept close to the physical body. After 2 years the positive spirit physical golden body can leave the meditation grotto during day or night but needs to return to the body to "suck." After 3 years the positive spirit can go to distant places but if it meets another animal or human it has to return immediately to the physical body - so travel just a half mile or so. At this stage the positive spirit has become an Earth-bound immortal. I actually asked the qigong master if he had achieved the "yang spirit" and he said that once when he was in deep meditation in his house in China people saw his physical body outside of his house.... Taoist Yoga says, "you will feel as if coming out a dream and will see another body beside your own." That is what happens when you leave your body. Indeed I did have one brief OBE experience when I fell asleep in full lotus and felt as if someone was on my body - and then I "woke up" from that dream to see my own body in full lotus on the bed. As soon as I saw my own body - from about 15 feet away - I was hovering in the room - then I was sucked back into my own body. Of course what Taoist Yoga is describing is much more powerful. It says at this stage of your physical body leaving - the positive physical golden immortal spirit body - if you have any visions of family or friends just ignore the visions and focus on the Emptiness. The demon vision in the golden light of the physical spirit body is from the remaining left over yin qi energy from the five yin spirit organs. So just keep focusing on the Emptiness and that final yin qi energy will be transformed into the eternal golden body. Only when the features of the golden body are exactly identical to the physical body then the golden body light won't vanish. Meanwhile his own physical body after having absorbed the golden light - it will vanish into the golden vapour. "If he fails to hold onto the golden light his body will fail to evaporate." p. 168 Just hold onto the golden light no matter what and the demons will vanish. But if the student "delights" in the light then the training will end. So traces of yin qi in the golden physical spirit body will cause the demonic visions to manifest and so then the golden spirit light needs to be sucked back into the original physical body in order to purify more the yin qi energy. Chapter 16 At this point the positive golden spirit body can then appear in the world and do mass healings. But then it will eventually re-enter its original physical body for the final breakthrough. At this stage the positive golden physical spirit body is not allowed to leave the original physical body again. The Emptiness is focused on until the original physical body - "until the four elements (that make the body) scatter and space pulverises leaving no traces behind; this is the golden immortal stage of the indestructible diamond-body." Before that stage is reached - the golden light will become "all-embracing, shining on heaven, earth and myriad things which will appear within its light." -

Vedantic non-dual vs. Abhinavagupta's non-dual

It actually does capture it quite eloquently so in its poetic exposition of that primordial sound, A-U-M, in which the universe appears and disappears. Each letter corresponding with the waking, dream and sleep states, respectively. -
Incredible post, Mark, IMO. The reference you make to falling asleep was one that I wasn't getting, because I thought you were always referencing the physical act of falling asleep. I see now that you weren't. My counterpart to falling asleep is to say to myself 'Do Nothing', and this stops time for my brain, allowing it to come back to True Reality, the reality where I know exactly Who I Am and the reality that this is all a dream and I am merely the dreamer. I see it as a huge IMAX theater; all of it is imagined, and I'm really the projectionist. Nothing can harm me, it's a dream after all. As it says in the TTC, 'that which is feared is truly to be feared, but distant yet is the dawn of awakening....' By falling asleep, as you put it, this enables us to face life without any fears, if indeed we can revert to the mindset of a dream. I seem to be going through the grief period of leaving Joe back in Ohio. Every fear I have of truly being Alone in life is kicking in. There are fears there I didn't know existed, at a level so very deep. We had occasion to speak on the phone yesterday for a few moments; in trying to get me back to Ohio, he reverted to a child-like voice (which always worked on me) because the inner child in him and the inner child in me are the very personas that are joined at the hip. Our 8 year old inner selves are both stunted by life in some way; it is these two fearful children that found each other 27 years ago and have been huddled together ever since. After he used that tactic I found myself on the floor, again crying so deep that there was no breath, no sound. It physically felt like a scab was slowly being ripped from my heart or something; lots of bleeding underneath. To willingly turn my back on my own 8 year old and deny her the protection she seeks takes an act of Mothering Myself that is quite difficult because I have indulged her fears for so many years. Not even big fears at this point; just the big one. Being Truly Alone. I'm 65 now - the thought of dying alone perhaps, of living out my sunset years alone. Especially at a time when my left brain organizational skills have come and gone; they are truly gone. I couldn't investigate myself out of a paper bag now. (Actually, I feel like I just did). This final stripping of myself has been so very long in coming. After weeks of this aloneness, it gets a little better each day. But yesterday when I was in that crying state, I was in that state where the tears FEEL like they're old tears and come from a very deep place. And the odd thing is that when the deep tears are gone, the perch is slightly different than the one I was sitting on before. Once the tears are gone, the transcension in this very area can begin. Yesterday's tears reminded me of the Tao Te Ching, where it says something about nature's utterances being violent in nature, but short in duration. This is EXACTLY what happened yesterday within my soul. The tears came out violently; my recent crying spells have been short and violent. And then it's gone. Just like nature. This process reminds me of ripping off old bandaids. I'm so glad you're here, whomever is reading this. I have no one else. Barb P.S. - I've been jerking around with my avatar for a few weeks. The little girl staring at the candle was apparently trying to make a cosmic decision, unbeknownst to me at the time. Well, she made it. When I chose this butterly avatar, I chose it because it felt right, like a transformation of change was taking place. But the avatar I realize is 'mine' is one I can't find. I am looking for a nice Root avatar and I can't find one. The root is me - the cosmic detective, not happy until the ultimate Cause is found. If anyone runs across a root avatar on an avatar gettin' site, I'd sure appreciate the heads up on which site that is. Truly, I'm getting older and more confused as time goes on, and searching for an avatar, which used to be an easy thing for me, is no longer that easy.

Thanks MPG, good suggestions. I've watched Wims videos in the past, I wonder if there has been examples of rapid healing not related to cold or the tummo, or if rapid healing of wounds and sickness is part of the tummo attainment. Yesterday I fell into a reverie lucid dream meditation state where I was moving qi in my body in a more enhanced way than I was able to in the past, and actually healed myself mentally in that state. In fact the interesting part was the dream body was also the physical (qi body), where normally the dream body is quite seperate or just some mental construct that seems physical. Perhaps the enhanced ability was caused by the necessity of the accident. I do have my own teacher and lineage but I'm sure Spring Forest is good. For the discussion of White wolf and letting Buddhas into your body, I remember a time when I was concerned about this. It is similar to allowing Jesus into your heart, etc, or some other deity. Most of this type of meditation is to build an idea of an enlightened or perfected person, deity in your mental space so that you have some kind of reference to go towards. You dont need to have the buddha move inside you at all, you can have him outside sitting nearby, etc. If your mind tasked with feeling the traits of the buddha, that buddha is inside your mind already. No need to take it so literally, but you can if you want, because its easier to build a construct in your mind when you have some stated traits and facts. But really, you are trying in this type of meditation to feel the enlightened state, dharmakaya, the emptiness "body" of these beings. If you were to make an image of yourself as enlightened or a bodiless being in a higher plane of existence, and since we all have memories or access to that type of feeling somewhere, then you dont need a Buddha. I find using Buddha work better because they are free from all the thoughts and feelings of our present unenlightened selves that might bog a person down when trying to form a good model.

Knowing you have been somewhere before knowing it is impossible
Hannes replied to Hannes's topic in The Rabbit Hole
Isn't it strange? Did one dream visit a place, or remembered the future? or saw things through someone else's awareness? I hope researchers are doing some research into this. I'm conducting my own research in this in some way and try to notice omens and synchronicities more now. And try to act more on hunches. I'm getting more and more amazed by the human experience I am experiencing like my eyes opened in a certain way and although everything is basically the same, it starts to look different. -
How yo can tell that you have an entity issue (based on my personal experience)
Josama replied to Josama's topic in General Discussion
Wow, actually I wasn't sure of this before, if they could induce dreams. I am wondering I had a sexual dream when I was 16, one you could say that played a key element in what led up to my possession. Do you believe that could have been an entity at the time? Also, could entity give you probably very sexual dream to increase sexual desire so as to pressure you into releasing? Ok, this might be going a bit of topic. Everything in this post is purely theoretical. However, might prove interesting for some. The main difference between demons and other entities is that demons work together. Their purpose is spreading darkness and fighting the Light. After observing and thinking I have come up with the idea that they 1) use the collective karma for their own vile purposes, like was the case in germany during WW2 2) They don't chose their targets randomly for the most part. Since they fight the Light, everyone who might become a light worker is a danger. We can recognize these people by the light in their eyes. The more light the eyes emit the stronger the spirit. So if they can't possess those people directly what they do in my opinion is use the people around them to hurt them, to try and dim the light. They attack people who have good Karma?? THIS IS ONLY THEORETICAL Take this with a grain of salt, not that it matters anyway -

If I am just a dream and each of you are just a dream, and there is no, I, self, that, etc. What is the point of our search, or anything? Why do we search when there is nothing to be found? What happens when the emptiness wakes up? Do we all wink out of existence and return to the void? If this is so, is there really anything to find for us, the characters of the dream? -
You are in that case not only no different than they are, you are actually identical to them in your practice of your strict views on life. Those strict identities that are defensive and argue for their own limitations such as you are doing aswell, could benefit allot from easing up on themselves. Because if you wanna be enlightened, simply lighten up on yourself. You can demand yourself to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders and at the same time think that you can ever be of even the slightest benefit to anyone in the whole universe. Not even yourself is allowed to benefit from yourself, by your argueing for your own limitations. So if you're not allowing yourself to simply be yourself, in the natural way that you were created, which means, the person who you are which has not been designed to solve the problems of this world, except the problems which you only create for yourself of arrogance and ignorance. If you are trying to give rise to the sun, you will always feel tired from working yourself to oblivion all night long, for absolutely no other reason than accomplishing your own unnecessary exhaustion, that only serves to limit you and drain the people around you who then also have to now help you recover from your own stupidity, as you are still arrogantly holding on to your ego that thinks you are a hero and saving people, when in reality you are a perpetual and chronic victim of your own arrogance and ignorance. I know you would like to blame other people for who you have become. But that doesn't change who you now are. Except, it causes you to realize that who you now are, is not fully allowing yourself to he who it is you really actually are, or want to be at the very least. If you can even remember who you are. God knows how long you've been asleep in this never ending dream of arrogance and ignorance. You might aswell, start going back to elementary school and relearn life. Years of education. And you'd most likely still get even more stupid in the process. Untill you begin to realize, that no one cares. And they are kind to you anyway. So maybe you will realize that you can be kind aswell. Regardless of who someone else is. And in so doing you begin to receive actual true value into that dense head of yours. To learn what actually matters in life. And stop being so arrogant, maybe for the first time ever in your life. But that's up to you. You can still choose to limit yourself. Untill you see the pattern of this take shape over several years, and then desire to see a different pattern, that is more free and more in alignment with your actual true nature. And eventually, you can't blame anyone but yourself. No matter how much you want to. Because blaming others will always continue your trajectory into more self limitation, even to the degree of being limitted to further limit yourself. Thus, it makes absolutely zero difference to all of creation, what you decide to choose for yourself. That is not cruel. That is freedom. And you can never destroy it, except for yourself. I know it sucks. But you cannot get sick enough to make other people better. You just have to let all of that go. And accept the natural well being. That is what it means to not be arrogant. To accept what you deserve, because you are not different from anyone else in that you deserve to naturally abbundant well being of life. No matter who you are or where you are or what you are. Isn't that easy? To acknowledge this ease is wisdom and knowledge. To lighten up on yourself is enlightenment. And you will always be free to choose it and be free to deserve it unconditionally. No matter how many years you practice the strict believe that says otherwise. And so stop caring so much about other people business. You came here to live your own unique you life that you are forever blessed to be and live now and be now. Who you naturally easily and effortlessly are as a good feeling free nature of who it is you have always actually been.

Ah I think this is what the saying is "lend me your ear!" for listening. It is quite interesting as I saw that most topis which appeared at the same time are somewhat connected as this in moment dream, time travel, catastrophe in dream, syncronicity seem to have a link to each and provide an answer - the others topic also have the comments which give a greater picture. Jig saw words are "states" (Small fur, dream life, waking life), "timelines" "free will" "if you want to reverse time you have to expand yourself"(Taomeow) This for Sinfest from Taomeow old post http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?/topic/17546-time-what-is-it/page__st__48: "Well... there's all kinds of options, obviously, but I happen to know for a fact how a taoist hermit currently living in the mountains in Wudangshan solves this problem empirically. He licks his bowl clean after meals. The reason is energy conservation I think... carrying water, chopping wood, all that stuff sounds very romantic in taoist poems but as a daily survival chore requires prudent application of effort -- not too little, not too much... Apparently washing the bowl is deemed wasteful of water under the hermit's conditions -- and consequently of vital energy. " So get some new pieces of the Jig Saw together. The thing Taomeow may need to talk about would be appearing in the timeline from someone else. If you not share the world how can you meet? Especially if this person gone thousand of years, all memory is stored when I believe Michael Talbot Holographic universe, one can get access. When things are in fields the access would require an ernoumous ability to tune into this field fuse and if one want to leave to stop a requirement of great selfcontrol, discipline, concentration, awarness This is the same problem as with enlightment and stopping reincarnation of life. In all case I assume "one cling to the lifes state that is there" which make time travel, stopping reincarnation and ascending pretty difficult as when it is free will one is there where one want to be.

Interestingly, this morning i had an extremely vivid dream, in which i was at some kind of kunlun seminar. It was funny, in the dream i exclaimed how i had no idea how i'd ended up here, i felt i'd vaguely signed up for it but i didn't remember anything leading up to the seminar. If i get to that level of questioning in a dream i usually realise it is such, but man this one had tricked me completely. Well some cool stuff happened, makes me quite a bit more interested in this school now, as i hadn't seriously considered learning it before. Could be a sign that Max is coming to the UK??

To me, there is a clear distinction between the dream state and waking state. One is just a projection of local body/mind. The other is much more complicated and can be termed as a collective projection or virtual reality.

Months or maybe an year before 2012 movie, I dreamed a huge tsunami. In my dream/vision I was on a cliff in a ancient greek or italian city. The city was actually built on the cliff with white buildings like the ones you can see in the mediteranean shores. The people were dressed in white robes like those in greek antiquity. People were horrified by a spectacular view in the sky. It was during the dusk, the sky had purple and orange tones and the sea was blue, I saw in the sky two huge planets that were closing each other but not yet collided, actually it was like one eclipsed the other. One planet was red like we see Mars depicted and the other was grey like the Moon, but they were huge, very close to the Earth. We couldn't observe much the scenery because from the sea approached a huge tsunami, like those portrayed in the movie, probably triggered by the gravitational forces of the planets. In that moment I thought "This is it! This is the end!". People were running but I stayed watching the tsunami approaching, there was no way where to run or hide, until it hit me and I woke up. Another dream: I heard a huge noise and it was a planet or an asteroid approaching just above my head, and again I thought: Finally it has come! Then I woke up and I figured out it was a truck on the street that made that noise and I created that dream.

Spontaneous dance, shaking...and spontaneous dreaming

Lucid dreaming is just like a normal dream except you wake up inside the dream. So you can walk around, do what you want, but you know it's a dream. From there people's degree of control varies, and you can get better with practice, changing the environment, flying etc. What you described seems to be images appearing in front of you due to a meditational state. -
The interesting thing I've discovered with dreams (which I get very seldom, maybe a few times a year, not counting dream-visions which I get about once a year -- but these are a different story) is that they can be fractal-like (like everything else). Meaning, on a smaller scale they relate to your own inner processes, emotions, unconscious memories emerging ("creatively" re-processed into a story by the neocortex when they reach it -- e.g. I recognize birth dreams instantly when people describe them, having spent a considerable amount of time on the receiving and giving end of primal therapy), personal lessons to learn, etc., but it's not necessarily the beginning and end of their scope. They are not flat like that. On a different scale, the same dream that tells you stuff about you may be telling you about things that have to do with the "bigger you" -- e.g. members of your group, whether social, occupational, emotional, intellectual, gender, age, state of health, etc. -- and then on the level of a "still bigger you," about your species, where we're all at as members of that. (E.g., I've read some books on assorted dream studies and found out that invariably, in at least 95% of cases, all dreams in which animals appear involve some kind of violence. Since then I've asked people many times and had a chance to confirm the truth of this assertion. So, if "everybody" in any actual real-life relationship with animals (including none at all) gets them to visit dreams only in a violent context, it tells you something about the relationship of our whole species to the animal world (likely based on what we've really done to it as a species, not as an individual), rather than merely one's private and personal subconscious context.

I woulden't be completely confident about that. Many say cats are able to focus non-physically. Dolphins dream while being awake. Humans are thought to be able to do this aswell. If one is very in tune with their non-physical aspect of nature.

Once, I had a dream. I had suddenly become aware while watching these nonsense figures doing a little dance. It all struck me as so pointless, so I asked the dream 'what is this supposed to mean?' No response. 'What am I?' No response. OK. That's fine. 'So what is this?' I fell through the dream into a bright, tingling light and it responded with a simple 'life, and it is beautiful'.

Thunder_Gooch replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I may be misinterpreting what he has told me based on ego. Prior to enlightenment he was a normal person living his life, after enlightenment he ceased to exist, and only a dream character existed. He said verbatim that he had died and no longer existed. The dream itself thought it was a man if I understand him correctly. Also the dream itself occurs in the nothingness, or emptiness. Emptiness has actual existence, it is like qi, or spirit, or mind, and it is all that exists anywhere and everywhere, and anywhen, and everywhen. The emptiness of the universe is actually full of spirit, mind or qi. The only thing that is truly empty is physical matter. Before enlightenment I chopped wood and carried water, after enlightenment wood chopped wood and water carried water. I understand what he told me on an intellectual level, but I am still here and an ego still exists so I can't be enlightened but it is fascinating. -
I don't know, I'm a newbie so it's better if I shut the fuck up but there are lots of meditation involving visualization, I believe anything that will use imagination will improve and wire the inner sight (brain sight) and will help you, well, see other other places, I've read about practicing mentally projecting outside the body with all senses, like what goes on in a dream

Welcome Xeno! Did this experience happen as a lucid dream, or like an out of body real experience or as a vision during meditation?
