    -k- said: I came on to add one thing to my last post to say that floating around in the center of the compass refers to keeping a subtle consistency in watching over one's thoughts and feelings in the midst of everyday ordinary conditions— this is the conditions I refer to, and also the illusion. We live in a dream. Our own dream. It's ok! There is no other dream (for each individual)— it is the nature of the created. It's just that the nature of perception is uncreated. This is what is us, and that is what we do with this light, unawares. It's just the way it is. But we can avail ourselves of the light, because it is us. Why? Because in this light is not only dreams of our making, but mystery upon mystery, not to mention a key to participating in everyones' dreams with awareness, objectivity, sagacity and delight. Here is the other point I wanted to add: it's in Lao Tzu chapter 16 "…preserve the utmost quiet; as myriad things act in concert, I thereby observe the Return.", can illustrate preserving a subtle concentration in the midst of the conditions one finds oneself in. The perspective of inner quiet affords the delicate sensitivity to observe the return. We breathe; alternating in succession, it is called respiration. Seasons do it, the waves coming to shore do it. The source of our universe does this and the living aware energy (potential) does this. Our own functions are modeled after this alternating rhythm. In the evolution of situations, we call this cycles of yin and yang. When breaths of potential return and you sense it~ that is called observation. When you observe the breath of creation, you gain a bit of detachment, as well as intimacy in your relationship with the world, because the nonpsychological aspect of perception is spiritual. So, floating around in the illusional, conditional ocean of our situation means we conduct ourselves with flexibility. Keeping to the center of the compass denotes the still, quiet perspective necessary to maintain equipoise within the evolving situation/condition/illusion enabling us to sense breaths of potential. It's not "out there" …it's you. As one learns to enter the mystery, the connotation of "illusion" and "conditions", loses it's ominous aura. It's just the nature of the beast. But the dragon has a pearl which we can steal.❤ ed note: added— "enabling us to sense breaths of potential. It's not "out there" …it's you."
  2. And John Chang stated that until the yang qi is stored up enough then you can't see spirits. And so since Kosta was not able to see the spirits - but I did see spirits going to Chunyi to get healed - this confirms that my celibacy training had increased the yang qi enough, since I was 29 years old at the time. And then one thing I had been wondering about is if those ghosts that I saw had individual volition. John Chang confirmed NO they don't - that even heaven is like a dream. So this makes sense as well since in Daoism with heaven and earth as the upper and lower body - it is the emotional energy, that then is projected subconsciously - to experience heaven on earth or not or hell. This is based on the frequency of the shen - from the intention in the body. So hell is the black aura and heaven is the yellow-white light as John Chang describes it. And then as John Chang says, a spirit HAS to have yang qi built up into it - for it to maintain any kind of individual volition after death - again only achieved through celibacy (and the alchemy training of storing it in the lower tan t'ien).
  3. I was thinking of you. I've been practicing dreamwork. There is an Itunes podcast called Dream Yoga. It looks at dream work from a Magical White Lodge perspective. Its not a path I'd take; its austere, demanding and has White Lodge Magicians in dream time that will help worthy practitioners who follow the method.   4. Are dreams tinting your waking life?

    My dreams are of all different kinds, and sometimes it fits the interpretations of dream analysis and its symbolizms, basically expressing what is reality for me. And sometimes just things whose origin I can identify easily as from waking life before. But also what idiot_stimpy said: Sometimes when I push something away and don't properly process it, it can occur in my dreams. Sometimes I perform admirably in a dream, like an adventure or fear-related task, but it doesn't have any noticeable effect on my waking life, except sometimes the mentioned emotional residue.

    I read somewhere that dreams are the mind's way of fine tuning experiences from the waking world, to increase efficiency, especially nightmares. They reasoned that we face our fears in our dreams to either get us used to a situation or improve our response to it. For example many people, including myself, have had dreams about being attacked/chased by wolves on snowy terrain. The researcher linked dreams like this to experiences that our ancestors have passed down from a time where humans had to confront wolves and protect themselves against such. The dream presents the problem and allows us to improve our response in that situation. Or so the study said. Maybe your dream was supposed to have an impact on you that will improve something in your life.
  6. Hi everybody. The nature of my request is to consult anyone who could help me understand the nature of my experiences and tell me how/where can I develop them/learn more. It will be a bit long but please be patient, it’s necessary. I got initially interested in Taoism when I was 12. I read a book from Alan Watts about Taoism, later I moved onto Lao Ze, Chuang Ze and Lieh Ze and it I immediately started to relate to it, and it just felt natural. Since then I researched many philosophies and occult schools, but Taoism kept being the closest to my core values. I’ve experienced several very significant experiences over years, and this far no one could tell me more about their nature. 1) I dreamt of future events. When they happened some 5 percent of the details were different (there were dogs instead of cats for example) but everything, including the locations that I never visited before were just as in my dreams. 2) I had a vision (meaning it felt physically real) that I was floating upwards through purple clouds and that I was going to die. I said to myself that I am not afraid because I lived according to my values, and then a voice told me: You’ve understood the lesson. Now return to the Earth and complete your mission. when I woke up my body was shivering and being full of electricity. I was lying in my bed but I felt I was in a vertical position. 3) After practicing Baguazhang, meditation and Taiji 6 hours per day for a period of one month, one day as I was walking down the street, I closed my eyes and I could “see” everything, as if I was feeling how cars and people were moving. It was like seeing blue shapes within a dark background. In the same period I went to play basketball once and my mind entered into some sort of trance. Although I was really skinny my strenght was almost super-human, ( I was pushing much heavier guys than me as if they were children)I was performing the most weird and acrobatic movements winning every game. I could score from the most difficult positions effortlessly. During the 3 hours I played I was in a state of bliss, and as I was playing my energy was increasing instead of me getting tired. I don’t know if that was Wu Wei but it felt similar. 4) I had a vision that I was an old Chinese man walking with my wife (also a Chinese lady) through a forest. We got to a point where there was an energy source on the ground and it told me to be the source of all my incarnations. If I listen to its advice, I was told that I can exit the circle or rebirth during this lifetime. 5) I saw a previous life of mine where I was a nobleman in medieval Italy. 6) I had a lucid dream or at least a very vivid one where I was a Taoist priest, flying through the sky and fighting demons who were after me. I hid on a ceiling of a building resembling a gothic catedral. They were right under me in a huge room (I was able to see through the floor somehow), and they gathered a pile of naked unconscious people, for sacrifice purposes. The demons said (speaking about me), “he’s becoming too powerful, we must stop him”. Their intention was to be able to “see” where I am by killing all those people. The sacrifice would allow them to do so. 7) During the same period of meditation and training I’ve mentioned I tried once to focus on everything within my visual field at once, without being focused on one thing. I was being present and alert, ai just felt as if by not focusing on one thing my energies aren’t tied to one goal/task but everything is equally important. Then I entered a state of mind where I could feel that every object around me was almost like physically connected to me, and I started to cry, because I felt an amazing amount of joy by being united with everything. I walked for a few hours around the town, with tears on my face, and then it just slowly went off. I am not interested in developing any powers, but only into reaching that state where I am simply what I am, in contact with my true essence and energies, beyond the limits of the rational mind. Any advice is highly appreciated. I would also like to study some forms of Neijia or Baguazhang, that could help me learn more about myself but I need a good instructor, even in China.
  7. Yes, well I feel there is a lot of good with this view, because at least you accept this reality .... and engage with it .... rather than swimming in a cloud of unconsciousness. People who say they are physicalists are probably healthy in a certain way. See the world is a straight way. A physicalist seems to comprehend reality on the basis of what is outside him, and does not recognize the inner being. Hence you talk of senses, well it is not the senses that see. They are just machines. Who is it that sees ? The other thing is .... we saw the world one way when we are young, and differently when we are old. One way when daydreamy, differently when sharp and present. Therefore our state of consciousness has vast importance, and is in different states, leading to different worlds. So it i s worthwhile exploring these things. It's not a question about what the world is, but how may I explore in order to bring about a better world. How can I improve things and enter a higher world. And each time the world is not a vaporous floaty dream, but hard reality in front. For instance outside of the planet there is "space". And in this "space" there are concentrations of matter we call stars. "space" is not empty, it is a kind of fine material that allows the present of bodies of mass. At the edge of the universe is a boundary and outside is nothing (presumably). "space" is inside, and is a material. Similarly when we walk on the surface of this planet, we are not in a space, we live in a fluid called "air". We do not breathe it, we breathe from the blood, the body in response to the entre of the vital force at tantien triggers the lungs to do their breathing cycle and so on. Incredible stuff. As humans we are transforming energy, from food, from the air, and from conscious impressions. We are small engines of energy transformation. The surface of the earth is like a large garden planted to produce food. Similarly Sunlight is the emanation of the central source of energy of this system of planets, when we "see" we are having a high-density-information-packed source of external recognition that functions due to the sunlight from the local source of energy. It is all material, but who considers such things. Fascinating stuff. The world is alive also. But I sense that a physicalist might already take some of these points on board.

    In the morning 9,000,000,000 people wake up and switch on the TV, and more or less agree with it. The culture speaks of progress, freedom, democracy, economy, peace and children. People might have their grumbles, but they agree with their grumbles. Meanwhile somehow "every natural system on Earth is in decline' and our problems and solutions are unchanged of thousands of years. People don't .... care. In the morning when you open your eyes, are you just entering a different kind of dream, or are you actually awake. Are you awake. Everyone else is doing it .... how can it be wrong. Gosh, is this really your logic ? Everything I said is simply a natural conclusion based on what we know of his life story. But Buddha had a massive life-destroying shock, then when he returned to the palace he saw the dancing girls lying in a drunken heap after the performance, after that .... he never believed in the show again. In fact it is having a life destroying shock - seeing the true state of mankind - it is this that is the first step on the Buddha's path, and a step that few Buddhists ever take. In fact they mostly seek exactly the opposite they seek the security of words and .... what everybody else believes. Most of if not all awakened beings had a similar shock. So if you want it, you know what you have to do.
  9. The mind as you speak of it is a mind bound to externals, to objects, to particulars. Unbind the mind. Concern yourself with what is truly yours: that light, that bliss, that vibration of pure existence. The only thing I aim to manifest anymore is total illumination. I do this by expecting it, aligning myself with that expectation (meaning, I KNOW it's coming), and I receive it. I do not worry when it will come or how or whether I will be a guru or have any power or influence. I simply vibrate that highest state and receive it spontaneously. I also forget and I dream and I worry like anyone else. This is also important, Dream: I never have more than I need. The Universe is not wasteful like that. It does not allocate millions of dollars to me, or thousands of apples, or new cars, because all of those are wasteful. I have what I need and nothing more. The exchange is always going on. Some of what is expounded in the teachings I have read plays on a major character flaw of the ego: greed. Some of the best animes I've ever seen use sex appeal to draw an audience in. Commercials do the same. That doesn't mean the product is not valuable, it means it's being marketed at you effectively. It's good because it has drawn you to a truth of our world. It's bad because you think you need things you don't. The deeper your meditation, the deeper your detachment, the higher your wisdom, and the greater your knowledge about the charade of control and oppression in this world, the more you can laugh whole heartedly at all apparent opposition to you. When I receive bills in the mail, I laugh, I feel blissful... because I see where the money is going, how I was apparently "indebted" during my time of sleep, and I see what it's funding (war, etc.), and I do nothing about it. All is taken care of ultimately - your case will be totally different than mine, but the source is the same if you trust it. I experience myself floating in outer space, manifested as outer space, experiencing outer space, through a peephole in outerspace, and nothing "stressful" that happens in consciousness is even remotely important - or rather, it doesn't merit worry. Such is my faith. All is well.

  11. How you apply Buddhism in life

    But this is my point. That you should share any personal or direct knowledge you have regarding these. And since you are reluctant, I get the feeling that you have no direct insight into any of these things you propound to be true. If people want better understanding of the Buddha's teachings there are far better sources to learn from than you or me. And if most fundamental aspects of the teaching have not been self verified, I'd present those teachings with caution, because I wouldn't know for sure they were true or not. All I have is my experiences. I do. Your posts can be readily found on a Buddhist wikipedia page, a book on Buddhism. Anyone can write out what you did after reading an article on Buddhism. They show understanding of how certain ideas relate to another, but not necessarily how you came to believe in them or their logical or experiential evidence. The present moment doesn't bother me as much. My day to day attachments don't cause me too much suffering, and I think these are generally overstated. I don't see much self-created suffering from day to day. It's rooted much deeper in our ignorance of our identities, and this includes insight into our past and future births, karma, the role of consciousness, generally the big ideas. Actually I believe It is the primary cause of these day to day attachments if you dig far enough. Yes, yes. But let's not put this state of mind on a pedestal. It's just a psychological shift in viewing things. That's all. It has potential to lead to greater awakening because the depth of the shift can alter denser forms of our existence and deeper conditionings, but there are other ways I can use to not dwell on things so much. It's not so special in its ability to remove attachments as you seem to think. For instance this body, in your idea of things, is considered another form of attachment. But believing things to be mere lacking of substance does not remove the body from experience. In my experience, to put over emphasis on these ideas can be counter productive to cultivation, because it can delude oneself into becoming stuck to shallow states of awareness that regurgitate on its own fascination with non-attachment. Or you may begin to consider everything to be a dream, like phantoms, but don't really delve into how it is like so, the mechanics of it, or why you have came to such a conclusion. To me this is an important part of the spiritual path, the "how things work" aspect. Only then can we utilize our understanding to truly lead out lives. You don't haver to prove to me that you have good reading comprehension. That's not what I look for when I'm having a discussion. I like it better when people share experiences and verified knowledge. That quote to me is filled with unnecessarily repetetive. It's really just pointing to a state of mind. See everything as a dream. See everything as impermanent. See this in everything. They are just pointing to a relaxed, spontaneous, clearer state of mind. And this can lead to deeper effects, but calling it nirvana or enlightenment or effortlessness is mere wishful thinking. Classic cases of overestimating one's attainments in this natural states can be found in a lot of teachers, in neo advaita or even Tibetan traditions, like Sogyal Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, or Chogyam Trungpa, who left their fare share of scandals despite all this supposed knowledge. It's not so easy. I'm not criticizing any "head" realizations. There are actually no such things because any realization affects the whole awareness, the term is really a straw man idea one develops due to arising friction among beliefs. And one's inability to console them results in labeling one a "head" realization and the other something else. There are depths of realization and in my experience it's not "head" or something else but how willing one is to delve into one's being. This willingness is an attitude of the skeptic, an openness, that is usually set back by a lot of these useless terminology and ideas we develop from reading terms like "everything is like a dream." Two people saying that can have extremely varying degrees of how this idea has penetrated his being. And if one does not know how that idea holds true, worse, one becomes a slave to that doctrine. And doctrine, imo, is never any good unless it is utilized to rise interest in sets of ideas that aid in one's own evolution.

    The Harley had such absolutely horrible handling that after it I had only English bikes. A triumph 500 and then a BSA 650, then a Triumph Hurricane (original style). The English bikes handled like a dream, the Japanese bikes never came close, ever. It's like the English bikes had a soul, and they could read your mind and respond effortlessly to your wishes, you and the machine became one with outstanding stability and sure-footedness. On the other hand the Japanese bikes had no soul. They were like remote and fake pieces of plastic that you sat on top of but could never meld with. Remote, distant, separate, never feeling the union, unstable, untrustworthy. I wonder who picks it up when it tips over?
  13. Question: Sweeping Leaves Lodge

    Truly, Taoist Texts literal explanation aside, the version of the Zhuangzi we now have could well be described as ‘The Swept Leaves’ version, or even ‘The Swept Path’ version. The original, now lost, 52 chapter version was radically edited by Guo Xiang around the year 300 CE..... His edition soon became the standard version and has survived to the present day. Most enlightening, Guo Xiang also wrote a postscript to explain the revisions he undertook. This postscript is still extant in the Kozanji Temple in Kyoto, Japan. Here Guo Xiang says that he found Zhuangzi's work full of strange ideas, daring metaphors, and lofty expressions. To make his meaning clear to the uninitiated, he found it necessary to revise the text radically. A certain number of chapters—altogether about one-third of the old manuscript—were excluded completely. "Some of them," he states, "were similar to the Shanhai jing (Classic of Mountains and Seas), others resembled the manuals used by dream interpreters. Some came from the Huainanzi, others again belonged to works dealing with speculations about names and reality." The text seems to have been widely varied, containing profound and shallow parts side by side. Guo Xiang says he found it hard to make sense of the work as a whole, but tried his best to include as much as possible in the coherent philosophical system he outlines in his commentary. As he has it, "I contented myself with summarizing all and refrained from inquiring into its logic. I reduced the text to thirty-three chapters, selecting its best and most complete parts, those which could reasonably be made into one whole." Guo Xiang therefore thoroughly reorganized the Zhuangzi. He eliminated folkloristic parts and shortened the manuscript, as he himself admits; from later citations it is evident that he also rearranged the text and removed those sections he considered merely explanatory to his commentary. Guo Xiang did thus not hesitate to impose his personal understanding and philosophical preferences on the text. The ancient original Zhuangzi was lost and ever since the fourth century it has been received through Guo Xiang's eyes. His philosophical systematization had a tremendous impact on the later tradition. Once his views were found agreeable to Chinese literati, his interpretation was accepted as the correct standard and all variants gradually vanished in the mist of history.   17. Did you know that you cannot convince other dream charactersnto become lucid? If they are lucid, they were already lucid before you even manifested them. Making one lucid means to kill him, denie his/her existance, attack his existance. You should try it one time. Also, did you know that a lucid dream is more vivid to the senses then the waking world? its because you're more awake in a lucid dream then while in broad day light. Well, not for everyone...

    here is an illustration of the first two lines by the contemporaries 《淮南子 - Huainanzi》 《道應訓》 尹需學禦,三年而無得焉。私自苦痛,常寢想之。中夜,夢受秋駕于師。明日往朝,師望之,謂之曰:「吾非愛道於子也,恐子不可予也。今日教子以秋駕。」尹需反走,北面再拜曰:「臣有天幸,今夕固夢受之。」故老子曰:「致虛極,守靜篤,萬物並作,吾以觀其複也。」 Yǐn-xū have been studying the art of driving a chariot for 3 years but still could not get it. He was pained by that, and keeping it to himself constantly pondered it. One night he saw a dream as if he received a driver of the imperial chariot as a teacher. Morning after he went to the court, teacher saw him and said thusly: “earlier I would not give Dao to you sir, being afraid that you can not take it. Today, I will teach you how to drive the imperial chariot.” Yin-xu retreated, faced the north and bowed twice saying: “certainly I, the servant received Heavenly blessing in the dream yesterday.” This is an example of what Lao-zi talks about: ‘with emptiness reaching its limit – let me guard the calm assiduously, if so – the all things will evolve and I will just observe their multitude’.

    Absolutely, particularly if they are lucid dreams. Bridging the gap between the sleeping dream and the waking dream is very helpful, IMO.

    Hi guys It has been just under 1 year since I recieved 6 rasa sessions. I certainly felt something during them, and then I was proclaimed "level 1000" by multiple people. I do feel how it describes - I don't identify my body as I, I feel like I am a seperate but connected entity of Self (one consciousness), however this is where the similarities between my state and the website stops. I still have mood swings, I still (though rarely) act out of ego, I still dream and fantasize about material wealth or objects. All of these things that RASA claims to eliminate, because they are egoic properties. However they do say it can take 7 years for your experiencial state to catch up with your energetic state (the crown chakra being fully open). I have spent quite a few months recently having DNOTS for a day then elation/bliss the next and so on. Seems like I am purging all my past memories / karma / stored emotions. Would I recommend it? Probably. Do I know if the rasa transmissions actually caused this? Nope. Because I started reading lots of buddhist texts, started praying, started doing water fasts, started doing energy work (doo wai breathing exercises), started generating bodhiccita and compassion for everyone. So I can't nail down a specific thing. It just so happened RASA happened first. I wouldn't get it from Ausar though. I found him very non-genuine. I recommend a guy called Elias, or Ramaji himself.
  21. Yes, and change is one of the three fundamental truths about all conditioned phenomena (along with dissatisfactoriness - due to change, and non-self). Buddhists call this the three characteristics of phenomena or the three dharma seals. You need to go beyond conceptual delusion in order to see these truths in action through mindful awareness. I don't exactly agree with you on 'everything is delusion' but would state rather, 'everything is like an illusion'. There is a quantum leap in the meaning of these two statements. Secondly, because it is only ‘like an illusion’ i.e. interdependently arisen like all illusions, it does not and cannot vanish, so Nirvana is not when Samsara vanishes like mist and the Brahma arises like the sun out of the mist but rather when seeing that the true nature of Samsara is itself Nirvana. So whereas Brahma and Samsara are two different entities, one real and the other unreal, one existing and the other non-existing, Samsara and Nirvana in Buddhism are one and not two. Nirvana is the nature of Samsara or in Nagarjuna’s words shunyata is the nature of Samsara. It is the realization of the nature of Samsara as empty which cuts at the very root of ignorance and results in knowledge not of another thing beyond Samsara but of the way Samsara itself actually exists (Skt. vastusthiti), knowledge of Tathata (as it-is-ness) the Yathabhuta (as it really is) of Samsara itself. It is this knowledge that liberates from wrong conceptual experience of Samsara to the unconditioned experience of Samsara itself. That is what is meant by the indivisibility of Samsara and Nirvana (Skt. Samsara nirvana abhinnata, Tib: Khor de yer me). The mind being Samsara in the context of DzogChen, Mahamudra and Anuttara Tantra. Samsara would be substituted by dualistic mind. The Hindu paradigm is world denying, affirming the Brahma. The Buddhist paradigm does not deny the world; it only rectifies our wrong vision (Skt. mithya drsti) of the world. It does not give a dream beyond or separate transcendence from Samsara. Because such a dream is part of the dynamics of ignorance, to present such a dream would be only to perpetuate ignorance.
  22. Sensation of rotation during meditation.

    I had a dream last night. I had intentionally remembered to find my "Higher-Self" and ask about the merkabah. This is kinda funny, but when I remembered while I was in my dream, I was by a Burger King, and decideed I will just go in and ask to speak to my higher-self. So I go inside and go up to the counter like I'm going to order and simply ask to speak to my higher-self. Well, this is wierd, but a girl is pointed out to me, like she's the manager of the place. The person I had asked to speak to my higher-self stood errect like he was a subordinate or something, so that's why I figure she was the manager. Anyways I proceed to ask if I am ready to practice the Merkabah meditation. Then as far as I can remember I woke up. Just like that, no reply or response that I can remember. So my higher-self is a girl? I know this is a wierd dream, but I thought I would share with you guys, because it is kinda funny at the same time. Maybe I will try it again tonight. Peace and Love.

    Hi, sloppy zhang I agree with you that just meditation practice in dreams produce no result, but rather that dreaming conscious is a side effect of your daily practice. I'm glad that you mentioned it. If anyone recommends any practices, like consciousness meditation, or whatever increasea your consciousness troughout the day, I'm open to look in to them. That was an interesting thing you mentioned. That your dreams are filled by your mind. It feels like you're in between the two realms of consciousness. Its also impoetant to me that I reach further into the 4th dimension, strengthen my connection to this dream world. See it with more clarity and with less interventions from my mind. I found that clearing my thoughts does this great. You dream, become conscious, you remember to clear your thoughts, the dream fades away, you're in your bed, you try to have an out of body experience by moving out of your body, with a clear thought and upmost conscious and aware mind. This produces best results for me. But I just want more advice from someone who is able to have more results then me, so maybe they can share what worked best for them. Thanks for the words
  24. Analect Four - Daily Introspection

    The Tibetan dream yoga practices use a method like this. Before sleep, one takes inventory of the day and moves through each action and experience, not judging, not even looking to see how we could have done it better, but rather just looking. And, if possible, one looks from the perspective of the natural state and sees, at a fundamental level, how our waking life is a dream.
  25. Spiritual practice during sleep

    Well there is plenty of good advice here. One simple method I know of is to repeatedly say Wake up! during the day. Then ask yourself Am I dreaming now Is this a dream? I have found this good for not only the night but also the day. If you do have a lucid deam I have found it beneficial to have a point of reference in your dream. Like your hand or a ring on your finger. Pulling your attention back to your chosen point of referrence helps to enhance the clarity of the dream Also returning to your point of referrence stops you from getting to embroiled in the dream.
