  2. Just looking to be pointed in the right direction! I want to use my energy to move objects or affect the real world. Very interesting to me
  3. The efficacy of majority of herbal medicines has always been questioned by science. The ancient systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Accupressure are termed as pseudo science. However, enough people claim to get cured by these systems and I think it's the reason why these systems have survived for so long. In my opinion, herbs definitely have some impact on body but these changes are minutiae and hence unobservable to a worldly man. In fact, the research done on these medicines is often of shorter duration and not done in collaboration with other supporting herbs. Majority of ancient medicine systems deal with body as a whole unlike modern medicine which is known for its expertise in dealing with each body part separately. My aim of asking this question on this forum is that many of the individuals here are involved in spiritual practices. Spiritual people have much better body mind connections and they have deeper understanding of bodily functions. Does anybody have anything solid in this regards? Are herbs really effective to treat diseases? Please share your thoughts.
  4. I started as a Buddhist practicioner cause I read on a reddit forum how Jhanas could increase human intelligence. For some reason as young as I could remember I always felt humans could be better and we were not using our full mental power. At some point I came across Daoism. I found their extremely datailed and logical approach quite fascinating. And in studying daoism I came across Bill Bodri who seemed to equate the 2 different traditions. It almost seems like they are doing the same thing through different approaches. Someone said the buddhism achieves freedom from karma or enlightenment by making ones consciousness egoless while daoism seems to make ones consciousness so powerful that its karma cant pull it back to earth what they would call the yang shen. Furthermore the jhanas and the transformation of the three treasures were seen as the same thing were first jhana body is full of jing hence the pleasure or what they call piti and sukkha. In second Jhana the jing transforms into chi. Hence the feeling of joy and loss of body awareness, By third jhana the chi turns to shen. Hence the contentment. By fourth jhana you reach emptiness. Hence the equanmity. Then the immaterial jhanas where one breaks the emptiness. And finally enlightenment where one unites with the Dao. What do you giys think?
  5. Hi everyone, in the most famous video of John Chang he says that mastering yin chi is key to the spirit world, paraphrased. So my question is, do people that master Daoism master astral projection? Like do masters of Daoism also master Daoism as a side effect?
  6. What Exactly Is Chi?

What exactly is chi? In my research studying John Chang and the book Magus of Java I suspect chi is a type of plasma. Why do I think this? Well if we look at all the states of matter there are only 4. Solids, liquids, gases, and plasmas. More specifically I think Chi is cold plasma with with a low density of charged particles. Cold plasma can be touched and won't burn you. Keep in mind that in the book Magus of Java a nei gong master I think John Changs teacher took a pong ball and infused it with a blue light. I thought I even remember there was some sparks as well. Well plasma is known for being blue light. Now if we look at the picture bellow I suspect that chi is again cold but also at atmospheric pressure, not a gas because it has to be readily absorbed by the body. Perhaps in mode it could be any one of those. This is where I need your help. Do you have any reason to believe chi is either a microwave, radio frequency, corona, or dielectric barrier discharge? My personal guess is that it's probably not a radio frequency. So perhaps it's a microwave cold plasma, IDK. What are your thoughts? Now if you look at what John chang says here that his positive is in his navel chakra and the negative chi is in his perineum chakra (paraphrased). Then it should be possible to make a chi device or machine of some sort to absorb massive amounts of chi for cultivation in a very short time. Even better a chi device in which yang chi is pumped into the navel chakra, and yin chi is pumped into the perineum chakra. What do you think? What is chi? What is yang and yin chi? And how can we make it ourselves in a device for accelerated spiritual growth?
  7. Hello everyone, First, I want to say thank you. I have been reading through many forums trying to deepen my understanding and have benefited greatly from the conversations many of you have had within the different topics of the forum. Even though I have benefitted greatly I still have a lot to learn which is why I am now writing this post in order to ask for advice. As a background, I am a 26-year-old male from Ontario, Canada. My lifestyle hasn't always been the healthiest, but of late it has become healthier, though since getting a puppy it does make it difficult for me to leave the home outside of work for prolonged periods of time. At least that is the case for now. This makes it hard for me to pursue the idea of finding a master/teacher to study under. I am not even sure if there is a master from a good lineage near me and honestly I am not exactly sure how to go about finding that out. That being said I don't wish to just be waiting around. I want to start building a foundation now so that, karma willing, when I do find a teacher I will be in a place where they can begin to teach me. Thanks to Earl Grey I was pointed in the direction of Flying Phoenix, which seems like a perfect fit at least for now of a complete chi kung practice to follow in order to start building a foundation. I do have a couple of concerns though. Does it matter that I currently can't feel qi (chi)? Will practicing the methods from percentage breathing to forms allow me, over time, to start to feel qi and cultivate it to the basic level of mastery for Flying Phoenix? My next concern is about flexibility. Honestly, other than my spine, the rest of my body is quite inflexible. What should I do to increase my flexibility? I know that some of the poses in the FP (Flying Phoenix) meditations insist on them being done in half-lotus, however currently as I said my body is quite inflexible. What kind of recommendations would you give in order to increase one's flexibility? Are there certain poses that you have found which really help to release the body? I have a few books on increasing one's flexibility I have been starting to follow. I just wanted to know if any of you had insights gained through experience that you would be willing to share. Thirdly, foundation building is an important aspect of martial arts. So much so that I am told that the internal arts usually aren't given to the students for years until they have built the proper foundations within their bodies for their bodies to be able to endure those arts. My third question is what kind of exercises, forms, weight training should I do in order to get my body into a healthier and more optimal state? Are there certain exercises/forms/poses that I should be practicing? Finally, I have a question about the mind. Only building a foundation within my body will create an imbalance between my body and mind. I also wish to strengthen my mind. As such, I plan on reading 'Secret of the Golden Flower', the first five books by Carlos Castaneda and 'Tibetan Yoga and Secret Doctrines' by W.Y. Evans-Wentz. I am wondering if there are any other resources that you would recommend I read as well. I understand that everyone leads busy lives and perhaps doesn't have much time to sit down and respond to each of my questions, or any of my questions for that matter. However, I would be grateful for any wisdom and insight which you would be willing to impart. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to hear back from you soon.
  8. What are the stuff a person can do to feel qi better ? (* important later edit (After 2 first replies) : to feel qi better over time) (not talking about putting your hands close to feel some tingling in them but how to feel chi well in the body (maybe even seeing chi with eyes)) what to do and how does it help exactly some examples (im not answering myself this are stuff i wonder about and i am not sure - this are genuine questions -- would be good if you confirm and explain about any point i raise and add stuff i didnt mention as well ) : meditation ? how does it help ? does it help feel the qi better ? more chi in the body ? accumulate as much chi as possible ? does it matter how much chi you accumulate or just how well it flows ? practice qigong ? if so how does it help ? cleaning the blocakges in the body ? in what way ? do you increase the flow of chi in the body ? does it increase exchange of chi from the body to the outer world ?
  9. Popping in to say Hi to a bunch of old timer Dao Bums. Also to give an update on some things I've been learning after a LONG time of self work. A lot of my growth I credit to assorted teachers I either follow online via Youtube such as Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and from assorted books such as Master Nan Huai-Chin and Bill Bodri. I think...(this is so amazing) I have a new appreciation of the power of chanting a Buddha or Hindu deity name and what it is doing on an energetic level. I began this practice after a particularly convincing, long essay on this practice by Master Nan Huai-Chin. I was blown away by his explanation of why this is THE premier method for many masters in the Kali Yuga age. Just to hammer it home Master Nan said this was his own method he eventually settled on for himself! After decades of so many other practices that he did...he finally reached such an incredible level he became aware of the power of this one practice and finally settled on it over anything else. Or as Sadhguru once quipped, "you can loot each other's loot bags" (ie. storehouse of prajna-wisdom and capabilities). Well that was enough to convince me to give it a try and WOW! At least in my instance, he wasn't kidding. I have had super fast progress using this method like no other. And it's because of Sadhguru I think I understand why this practice works so well. Sadhguru says that earth (and the cosmos) has had many stupendously high level Masters but the vast majority never have public teaching careers nor have lots of disciples. The karma that taking on the responsibility of public teaching and of lots of disciples is pretty far reaching. So most masters don't go this route. Nonetheless he says such beings don't leave the planet without wishing to contribute something for the betterment of humanity. They leave their contribution in the form of shakti. The karma is so much less by giving their teachings in this way as opposed to the way Sadhguru is doing it. Their names (and maybe other patterns such as sitting a certain way at a certain location) encode everything they themselves have learned and mastered and they leave it for people to discover (or chant if their name is known). By encountering their 'energy signature' you are downloading everything they themselves learned and mastered. And I do mean - *everything*. On a second front: I've encountered an early 20th century Dion Fortune book called The Cosmic Doctrine. I'm finally convinced Ms. Fortune had a higher Plane guru/guide because so much of that book aligns with things I've heard Sadhguru also give talks about. Cosmic Doctrine is a detailed Kriya Yoga/Nei Gong book! Yes it's talking about the shakti at a cosmos level but the laws that govern the cosmos are the same laws that occur inside us as Sadhguru is always saying. So when I started to read it I was like - Holy Moly! The West finally has it's own authentic contribution to human consciousness evolution alongside China, the Middle East and India! The Cosmic Doctrine is a gem that needs to be translated into other languages if it isn't already and be taught the world over imo. It's also in the public domain now and can be freely downloaded in pdf form. It's VERY detailed and you can read it quite successfully as a Nei Gong/Kriya Shakti book. I finally figured out the real Sri Yantra is best "built" inside the human body as is the Shiva Yantra or any other "yantra" depending on the results one is aiming for. Finally had that "aha" moment from understanding what The Cosmic Doctrine is teaching combined with several Sadhguru videos. I'm guessing it's easiest to get such operational yantras inside your own body by chanting a Buddha or Deity name that's associated with the benefits associated with those 2 yantras (or whichever other yantra appeals to you). And so much more. Just from chanting a name (or names)! It's the difference between driving at high speed on a constantly well-maintained highway vs. having to pave the road yourself before you can get anywhere. Here's a link that tells various names of various Buddhas of the past and what you can "download" just from chanting his/her name. Pick one that sounds appealing and give it a shot. My results have been so amazing from just this one practice. It sounds so corny but you download SO much! And the Cosmic Doctrine explains the mechanics of WHY and HOW that happens. p.s. The name I chant regularly is Bei-Shah-Jei Lapis Lazuli Medicine Buddha and according to Master Nan Huai-Chin he works at the alaya level (8th consciousness) of karmic greed - ie. transforms it into incredible generosity. He also increases one's affinity to good health and healing. You'll also have much more beautiful, healthful bodies upon rebirth from chanting his name. I started receiving noticeable changes on the Second DAY! For me at least name chanting is a fabulous, super fast Nei-Gong/Yoga practice. I can feel the shakti changes taking place inside my body when I name chant. So excited I feel like a little puppy running around with a wagging tail at discovering how joyful and bountiful life is with this one simple practice.
  10. Hey Spiritual cultivators I like to hear any advice on what happened next after three dantians are FILLED and flowing? recently couple days of ago, this happened to him while cultivating my lower dantian then it flow up fill my middle dantian for couples of weeks then fill my upper as well. Now when I cultivating my lower dantian (sitting meditation upon it) the qi flow from lower to middle to upper and now it return back to lower dantian. I like to know more about this process and what WILL happen next?
  11. Sifu Dan ferrera

Hey I am curious. Does anyone know how old Dan Ferrera is. Does anyone still keep in touch with him. I think he probably still looks like he is in his 40s.
  12. After several years of daily meditation and breathing practices, I have reached what feels like a very uncomfortable mid-point, where I can feel partially opened channels in my body, but am suffering all kinds of discomfort because they feel seriously twisted and contain some major blockages. Before anything opened up, my body consisted of many different abnormalities such as warped and twisted bones which no Western doctor has been able to explain. I can now see that all of these physical anomalies are situated in the places along the channels where I can feel blockages, so it seems that my irregular physique was like a living fossil of energetic problems. Firstly, I was wondering how common this kind of thing is. After baffling a sufficient number of doctors, I’ve now been asked to allow them to map my genome as they consider me such a curiosity. Clearly this isn’t something they encounter very often, but surely I’m not that unique as there’s an endless number of people complaining about blockages, twists and deviations on forums such as this. Am I just an extreme case? The second question I’m hoping those with more experience and wisdom than me can answer is whether the daily practices I do (mainly meditation, alternate nostril breathing, nine bottle breath, MCO visualisation) are helping or hindering me. I’m particularly worried it may be the latter because, as I say, I’ve reached a point where I’ve partially opened the channels and dissolved blockages, but it means I feel the existing twists and obstructions more keenly than ever before. Every time I succeed in “getting out of my own way” during meditation, so that energy starts moving on its own, I run up against these extreme physical barriers. It seems I have only two options: to push ahead with what I am doing, or stop altogether. Obviously stopping is the most sensible option, but I can feel the half-dissolved obstructions and half-straightened channels constantly in my daily life whether I’m trying to or not, so it’s very hard not to try to do something to deal with it. I’m suffering a great deal of discomfort all over my body, as well as frequent headaches and fatigue, so is this a sign of things opening up or of things going horribly wrong? Thanks for your help.
  13. I don't think I believe that breathing alone keeps us alive. So I don't feel it is the action of breathing that generates chi in the body. Placing attention on the body generates sensation.. and sensation attracts attention. I feel that awareness of sensation generates the chi in the body. Breathing makes sure that there is a continuous awareness in the body on some level. I feel that breathing balances the chi by spreading out the intensity in the body so it feels smooth and the chi gets everywhere it needs to be. So intense feelings like pain and discomfort might be because the chi is only restricted to a certain area and cannot find it's way out to its proper place in the body. Then that means, if I can stay aware of body sensations, then I don't need to breathe as much. I'm spreading the chi smoothly already by having my light attention spread globally throughout the body. It's not perfect yet. When I meditate on sensation, my breathing slows down until I can't really tell the difference between breathing in and breathing out. But what is left behind is the sensation of the breath. What left behind is simply sensation where breathing used to be.
  14. Hey Bums I have a question about Taiji levels of progression. I've been practice taiji form everyday sinking qi to my dantian for couple of years and still practicing stillness moving meditation (dantian). Couple days ago, My dantian and Meridian Channels transform my being. Now my Meridian channels feels like STEEL. I feel my Yin Channels powerful steel like feeling. I easy ward off or push any opponents easily its not every funny. Every times I practice taiji (yang), This Steel like meridian channels getting stronger and this why I'm here. Can anyone tell me the stages of my progression with my Taiji Tai chi? I'm going to reach out to Master Clear tai chi and Master Jesse tsao about it b/c I've been in the past train with them. Will update about they say about it. I hope this will HELP others in the future. Thank you
  15. Qi/Energy Practice Over Years

I signed up for this forum over a decade ago. At the time, I was studying both Buddhist and Daoist systems of practice. Over the years, my Daoist, energy, qi etc. based practices have changed, come and gone. My Buddhist practice has evolved quite a bit, but remains a steady core part of my life. I am wondering: for those who have engaged in energy-based practices long-term, what have you seen over the last decade or so? If you could beam back a transmission to your younger self, what would you say? What has worked and what hasn't? Have you discovered a simple, easy daily practice set?

  17. Let's Talk Heartfulness

I want to talk about my experience with Heartfulness. Now, I'm not talking about the form from Mindfulness in the book "Cultivating Heartfulness" that I've seen spoken about around Daobums, but something different that has completely changed the way I cultivate. Most of us are practitioners or at least know of the refining processes of cultivating and internal alchemy. We all know it to be an excruciatingly long and arduous process to refine our internal energies in order to produce measurable results. I have always been drawn to daoist practices from a young age and would meditate without even really knowing what it was, it just felt nice. But i didn't start officially Cultivating until just after college but i was underwhelmed by how little return you get for so much effort. I had processed far enough to have formed my Dantian and refined my senses enough to be able to detect spiritual energies and their movement. However, then i encountered a practice called Heartfulness that utilizes Yogic Transmission and this put my cultivation into hyperdrive! It would normally take me about two weeks to take in qi, extract the impurities, refine it into a higher form, and condense it into a pearl to draw up into the second dantian. But with Heartfulness, i was able to complete that entire process in One Day while i was At Work! I don't sit behind a desk, i work at UPS. I'm constantly moving and i was able to refine a pearl almost Passively while i was constantly busy. It felt like as long as i was doing Heartfulness, the energy would move Intelligently on its own to complete work within me, automatically. After a week of this, my body became stronger. I was able to walk around in 40 degree weather in shorts and a teashirt without getting cold and things that would normally hurt or bruise me would hardly hurt at all. I wanted to share this with my brothers here on Daobums so that you all could give it a try and share your results here! It's completely free, all the teachers are volunteers. https://heartfulness.org/us/masterclass/- This is the three-part video series that introduces the practice and helps you experience the transmission. https://heartfulness.org/us/experience-heartfulness/- You can follow this link and scroll down to “Try Heartfulness with Assistance” for a more personal experience with a real person rather than a video series, though I do recommend the video series first.

  19. Greetings and Love to 1 and all

Hi everybody!!! Longtime lay-omni spiritualist here! I'm a working percussionist, drum maker, music producer and DJ in NYC. My family consists of the 3 of us - my common-law wife & an 8 year-old 3rd grader called "Love". We live comfortably in the Bronx near Yankee Stadium. All 3 of us do a damn good traditional Okinawa Goju-Ryu class in Harlem 3x/week. Our teacher turned us on to the standing and sitting 8 pieces of brocade forms. It's reignited my personal quest for this old school knowledge from Asia I started when I was a kid - 1st from my father ranting about Taoism & physics then stumbling onto Mantak Chia's books in the early 90s. We're 2 years into this Goju discipline next week & as I turn 44, my thoughts turn to my end game: I want to live long & need ALL my systems functioning strongly into old age to achieve my goals. IMO the Taoists and Buddhists figured all that out 1000s of years ago & I thought this'd be a great forum to discuss. Looking forward to listening to/sharing with all of you. 1 perfect love, Ceiba aka Brotha Sean
  20. The Dragon Revealed -

Thank you for making this opportunity available for others to share their experience in the Chinese Internal arts. My name is Eric Wilson . . . I trained and taught Chinese Kung-fu, Tai-chi, and Qigong for more than 24 years. And while I did realize a great manifestation of "internal" power, I also experienced some very strong negative effects. I am sharing my story and these experiences at the links below, and it is my prayer that these will be of help to those who also have had questions about the spiritual source of Chi and "internal" power. Thank you, Eric Wilson and family
  21. Hi, greetings from me. i have been thinking about this for a while: 1. is chi measurable (in a sense is there a maximum ammount of chi we can store) 2. if lower dan tien is used to store the majority of chi, and its said that dan tien is located in our stomach, does that means people with larger build get more benefit with having more space inside? 3. if there is a maximum capacity we can store the chi, what happens when we reach that point? 4. is the tightness i feel inside my stomach be my dan tian? recently i felt like i'm more muscular in that area thats said to be dan tian location, but i can't feel it as a ball of energy or any ball at all... just tight like flexing muscle, which sometimes cold, sometimes warm, and some other times disappear. thank you, and hoping to learn and get guidance from you seniors and masters
  22. Hello I am a new :)

Hi all I am very happy to be here but I am full of questions and doubts. I was hoping someone can help me on this journey. 1) Where should I start? 2) How do I cultivate Jing, chi and shen? 3) Do I have to be celibate? 4) If I am sexually active, can I still conserve my Jing? How? 5) Where do I find a Master to learn from? Does it has to be in person or can it be online? 6) I live in New Zealand, anyone here as well? As you can see I am very lost, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
  23. Hey, i was wondering if other people went through similar experience especially those who practice vipassana, scan the body and such. Sometimes i feel a deeply annoying sensation on 3rd eye, heart and stomach, that arises and feels like deep thing, not pain but makes feel like wanting to hit that part of the body or thought of trying to push something in just feel to exist or whatever. And sometimes almost makes me go crazy when it happens at different parts simultaneously. Any idea what is that related, energy or what ? Thanks
  24. Greetings fellow citizen scientists, practioners, interested readers, I watched with great interest when the Nobel prize was awarded because they finally recorded gravity waves, for the first time in history... and they were measured with a chirp wave similar to lightspeed. I have long felt that many practices are bending time/space and with it influencing or using gravity, or the other way around. As I started digging on chi and chirp waves, I found that they see them generated during practices, and during healing, during certain breathing exercises, etc. So, the chirp wave function example was, out of 35 who claimed to be "healers", only 3 actually produced chirp waves. This could be a very interesting way to see if things are flowing, or if somebody wishes they were a healer. Through further study, I discovered that similar waves are being used in science to stimulate a short burst of CD34 stem cells during such healing practices. This in turn creating an almost instantaneous healing, depending on where the chirp waves were focused, intensity, etc. While this is happening, there is a 25.75 to 30 degree bend in the magnetic field, but without electrical force. Which simply means that the flow is parallel and not perpendicular to the magnetic field, but bending the field at the same time. A simple array of compasses around anyone practicing should relfect this change in magnetics, and also could be a wonderful device to measure with immediate results, helping to guide proper development and further research. I have a number of links to studies, if anyone is interested. Here are my notes: Magnetic field oscillations were created between 20 - 30 Hz then slowing to 8.9 Hz and creating a chirp that slows further to < 1 Hz, at which point they reverse and increase in frequency. 1 - 8 milliGauss peak-to-peak with a 60 - 120 second duration. Others were measured at 4 - 10 Hz with a peak of 2 - 4 milliGauss (200 - 400 mT). The normal human body is < 10-negative-6 Gauss. Healers are creating 10-negative-3 Gauss, huge difference! The description uses sinusoidal waveforms. Thus fluctuating on either side of a neutral space. The photons increase during this. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0009261417302695 Gravity is a chip wave. The earth wobbles through this chirp wave at 23.5 degrees to magnetic pole and 49.5 degrees. Gravity is 35 - 250 Hz. During measurement, a magnetic compass needle rotated about 30 degrees at chirp wave, more likely the measurement should be more accurately done, suggest a probable 25.75 degrees as more accurate to perpetuate the theory of torus magnetic line directions. Just the Qigong breathing exercise was enough to change the magnetic field dramatically. However, there is no change in the electrical current that would correspond to magnetic fluctuations, showing an apparent parallel flow. Here a perpendicular flow would induce a magnetic-electric current. There have been experiments using a cone-shape to capture and store the energy flow, which has been successful, as well as “charging” a number of non-magnetic objects with energy that can be recalled again later. The cone shape can be seen through history with fingertip covers, hats and crowns, dunce caps, pyramids and other shapes. The Tai Chi and Qi Gong masters use the exercises to lower gravity, or the center of gravity as the practice more accurately states. So they are learning to “feel” gravity while charging up energy. When this energy flows, they claim it attaches to emotional feelings of well-being or healing directed towards the person to be treated, even the self. Without emotional energy, it does not flow properly.. interesting point! Now we are seeing that using these waves can also increase stem cells in the person focused on, as well as other chemical interactions. Chirp waves have the ability to heal, or harm. And Chirp Waves are now realized as gravity, and connected to photons, which is probably time as we measure it. We know that time flow is different at ocean level and the top of the tallest mountains, as measured using the atomic clock. It is a fraction of a second, but should tell us the actual speed or change in speed of gravity and time as it reaches from that elevation to the ocean level. NASA and the space team are very aware of the time differences and there have been some interesting experiments about time change in orbit.
