Hey everyone, happy new year! I'm a graduate student in Switzerland and working on my thesis. My topic is Mount Kunlun, which is referred to in many Daoist texts (like in neidan). However, I would like to know of Mount Kunlun is still important in Chinese Daoist practice today (or if it has become more of a old tradition that is referred to now and then). Does anyone happen to know if Kunlun is still important is some ritual practices today? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Nicole

Hi everyone! I’ve just begun kunlun... a bit stalled for want of a rubber mat... but using a woollen shawl meanwhile. Tailed this in after Vipassana. I found the latter very helpful in deepening consciousness practices. I come with consciousness practices aka Neville Goddard, Vadim Zeland. Have practiced deep meditation as per classical Raj yoga, Qi gong of various paths, and a few healing streams. Now looking to accelerate everything. with kunlun level one, was told to add one breath and I jong. In what order do you do them? And what duration? Is one breath practiced with I jong ?

Hi bums, hope you are all well. I was wondering if this was the mudra for red phoenix in the kunlun system?

Recently, I discovered a Christian Mystic Healer called "Daskalos". I watched a video, bought a book called "Swimming with the Whale" and learned as much as I could about him. The stories are fascinating, like how at the age of 7 he healed the open wound of another young boy whom had fallen and cut his knee. Stories like how, at the age of 7, Daskalos could solve complex mathematical equations by letting a 2000 year old spiritual friend guide his hand on the blackboard. Daskalos, at the same age, could translate Latin into English.. The stories in "Swimming with the Whale" are truly mind boggling. There is a healing story about how he straightened a woman's spine by first de-materializing it, then re-materializing it in the correct position. There is also another story about how Daskalos lengthened another lady's 'short leg' to be the same length as the good leg. Daskalos teaches that we have three bodies, physical, psychical (astral) and noetical (mental) and that each of the three bodies has an 'etheric double'. He teaches that we can learn how to access these etheric doubles in order to perform healings (reaching into the body and adjusting, removing, or performing some aspect of healing). Daskalos says that 'visualization' is the major component of his teachings. Not only are the etheric doubles trained through visualization, but Daskalos says that visualization is the skill that is needed once a person dies and passes over to the astral realms, for everything in the astral realms is created by 'visualization'. One of Daskalos' practices is to visualize one's self surrounded by the colour light-blue. He has several practices which involve visualizing 'whitish blue' or 'sky blue'. You can find some information about some of the practices here: http://www.researchersoftruth.org/practice/good-health-exercise Anyway, I've been practising some of the visualization exercises with the color blue, imagining that I am floating in a sea of whitish blue or visualizing a ball of blue light at the abdomen etc.. A few revelations is that the visualization of a sky blue ball of light at the abdomen is a method of attaining the first jhana. Refer: Kasina practice Vissudhimagga.. The thing that made me wonder about all of this is that Daskalos' practices, working with sky-blue visualizations reminded me of the Kunlun warm up exercise where you visualize yourself floating in the sky upon a white lotus. Here is the practice: (it is found in book 1, book 2 but not book 3): From "Pillars of Bliss" Lama Ngakpha Dorje (Max) with Chris Tittle There seemed to be a great similarity here between envisioning one submerged in a sea of white-blue as per one of Daskalos' practices and the Kunlun warmup visualization.. So, today, I decided to do a 50 minute session of the old Kunlun warm-up excercise only. I started the meditation and made sure that all the components were in order.. The sky-blue surrounding, the white lotus, the white skin, inhaling clear white mist and exhaling blue-gray smoke. I "made it real" and kept at it. I did not influence the breathing at all, I just left it breathing normally and followed the breathing without any conscious control. At first, some distracting throughts arose but I persisted. I mentally traced over the components again and again. After about 35 minutes I was succeeding in establishing a pretty good visualization of the whole scene including the motion of the inhale and exhale along with the white mist going in and the grayish smoke coming out. Then something strange started to happen. I noticed that there was a very bright light that was starting to appear straight ahead in the sky. The light resembled an arc welder's torch or a bluish white star. The star was much brighter than the surrounding visualization. It was very hard to ignore. From my previous practice instructions with bright stars, I proceeded to ignore the star. However, it wasn't going away. It was getting brighter and brighter right in front of me, at the front of the visualized scene. It was becoming a challenge to maintain the visualization while 'noticing' that this very bright whitish glob of arc-welders' torch-like light was cutting into the whole scene. Then I noticed that my root chakra was starting to vibrate and release bliss-like sensations. Time to stop and analyse. I stopped the meditation at that point (47 minutes in). I have seen nimittas before as well as arc-welders' torch light during kundalini episodes, so I didn't quite know what to make of this new phenomenon. I got up and found my old Kunlun books and started reviewing them. Then I found this in book 3: (Kunlun System - By Max Christensen): http://www.amazon.com/KUNLUN®-System-Alchemy-Leading-Within/dp/098522360X/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 I seem to like the idea that I was actually looking down the Kati crystal channel and that I had succeeded in doing that by using visualization. It is interesting that the practice of Thogal is from the heart to the eyes and beyond, whereas this Kunlun teaching is to open the kati channel from the heart to the crystal palace. They say that the kati secret channel goes from the heart to the crown, then wraps around the ears and proceeds to the eyes (from various high-end Buddhist books). From Kunlun System again: So, never underestimate the power of visualization.

Max makes it pretty clear that he suggests NOT mixing Kunlun with Fire Path work? Does anyone have exprerience with this? Have you practiced Kunlun with other Neigong of Fire Path Nature? I'd consider Mantak Chia's Fusion & Kan & Li work to be Fire Path - has anyone mixed Mantak Chia's Fusion & Kan & Li work with Kunlun? Did you explode? lol p43, Kunlun System by Max Christensen

Is Kunlun compatible with Vipassana, Zazen and Ji Ben Quigong?
gabrielnb posted a topic in Daoist Discussion
Hello, I would like to know, from an Kunlun practicer, if Kunlun is compatible with Vipassana, Zazen and Ji Ben Quigong. I got Max's book and I was wondering if I could to start to practice Kunlun, without drop my actual practices. The book says something about the water path (it shouldn't be mixed with the fire path, like kundaline stuff). But for me, zazen and vipassana are not focusing on kundaline. Neither Ji ben qi gong. How I'm not sure, I ask for the experts on Kunlun to give some advice. Thank you! -
If anyone wants to learn Kunlun System in the Seattle area let me know via PM. I've been given permission to just shows the basics of the system. You can learn about kunlun by doing some searching around in the forum. And no, you won't get super powers. And no I won't be doing black magic on you because I don't know how. Lol.

Hi, I have been studying the "Kunlun System" by Max Christensen. I've had the book for a couple weeks now. What I would like to know is this. Are there any experienced Kunlun practitioners out there where I can find out about how exactly to perform the One Breath? When I took the Kunlun Level 1 seminar, the type of breathing was just normal breathing but not letting it pause. You did not elongate the in or out breath, nor did you slow it down or change the cycle. Well, in that latest book "Kunlun System", Max talks about the One Breath. He says to just breathe gently and not have any pauses or gaps between the in and out breaths. What I would like to know, from a practiced Kunlun practioner who knows, the following: In the One Breath, do you slow down your breathing? Or are you just supposed to leave your breathing the same as normal, except you give a little push at the top and bottom of the breathing cycle so that there is no pause or gap? Is it ok to slow the breathing down and not have any gaps? For example, could you do a 9-0-9-0 breathing cycle? (9 for inhale, 0 is no pause, 9 for exhale etc) Breathing like that is very powerful and seems to balance and accumulate the energies very efficiently. Max says that breathing with no gaps builds up the Wu Chi. The reason I ask, is because in chapter 7 called "The Gold Flower Method of Maoshan", he activates the three dantiens with the help of a hand mudra and the One Breath. He says you can do 12, 24 or 36 counts of the One Breath at each dantien. Well, if you are just breathing normally, which for me is about 1 or 2 seconds in-breath, 1 or 2 seconds out-breath, then it goes by very quickly. So I started thinking that maybe the teacher that I took the Kunlun Level 1 seminar didn't give accurate instructions? I don't know.. I would really like to know the answers to the One Breath technique. Anyone out there know the answers or where I can find out? Greatly appreciated.. Thanks. TI P.S. It is so nice to also see that Max refers to the Heart Mind channel called the Katika channel many times throughout the book, and emphasizes the importance of developing and opening it up. He even explained that it is a "bliss plasma vapour" that fills the katika channel to the heart center. It is also interesting that he says that two microcosmic flows, water and fire, "provides a new element, the super-heated steam that is the gaseous state of water with high kinetic energy transferred from fire". And the "Gold Flower Method of the Maoshan" sounds very similar to tummo practice to me. So, perhaps in a roundabout way, Max is now combining the fire and water methods.. Also, since he recommends not mixing in Kundalini, Kundalini must not be the fire method, but something else.. Something to think about.

Taoist Kunlun Mountain School, Dayan Wild Goose Qigong
Immortal4life posted a topic in Systems and Teachers of
Taoist Kunlun Mountain School, Dayan Wild Goose Qigong One of the most famous qigong schools in modern times is the Taoist Kunlun mountain school of Dayan Wild Goose Qigong. Dayan Qigong began to be developed in the Kunlun Shan mountains which are to the west of China and north of Tibet, during the Jin Dynasty 1800 years ago. Since Kunlun Shan is traditionally a place of great spiritual power, the inhabitants of the Kunlun mountain range were Daoist monks, and they shared Kunlun Shan with the Bar Headed Wild Geese, which are also spiritual symbols and birds of great ability and longevity. The monks would observe how the birds moved, lived, rested, recuperated, etc. and they began developing exercises and movements based on how the bar headed geese behaved. The monks combined their knowledge of Chinese medical principles and spiritual meditation with the bird's natural movements to create an extremely powerful, graceful, and natural system of healing and exercise. The wild goose system was inherited by the 27th lineage holder Grandmaster Yang Meijun who began learning at 13 years of age, from her Grandfather who had learned it from a Taoist monk from Kunlun mountains. Info on Kunlun Shan mountain range, including some of the largest mountains in the world Kunlun Mountains - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Dayan Wild Goose Qigong was kept secret, taught only from teacher to disciple once per generation. The 27th generation lineage holder was Grandmaster Yang Meijun. Her life was legenary, she lived in a very difficult and dangerous China, and yet still lived to be 108. She could see a person's Qi, and she could emit 5 types of flower fragrance energy. She could easily emit energy to make a person shake. She could see and receive messages and read thoughts from a long ways away, as her sky-eye (3rd eye), and sky-door (at the top of the head) were opened due to practicing every night with her grandfather at 3:00 am. One time, I think during war, she was buried alive by soldiers. She used her abiltiy to use very little oxygen and to breath through her skin and pores. They thought she was dead, so they buried her alive rather than kill her. When they left she was able to dig her way out. After the cultural revolution Grandmaster Yang Meijun decided it was the right time to make Wild Goose Qigong known to the world, and she began to open up and teach publicly. It is so cool how these are movements of developing energy, and cultivating the bodies functions and systems, based on the movements of the Bar Headed Goose. The Bar Headed goose is a very special bird. It is a symbol of lengevity. It can fly higher than any other bird I know of, and travel over 1000 miles in a day. The Bar Headed goose has been seen flying over Mt. Everest. The ancient Taoists of Kunlun Shan knew the special significance of these birds, and mimicked the methods of energy development that the birds performed naturally and instictively. Some people may not be aware that animals naturally and instinctively are practicing Qigong all the time. it is only humans that need to learn, or re-learn, how to do it. Animals are already in tune with nature in their proper way. They can posses fierceness and strength to do things humans just can't. This is primarily due to their use of universal life energy from the universe. They know what to do and when, and they are aware of many things. They naturally open, close, and connect their acupuncture points in the way they move and the positions they sleep in for example.
