billb Posted June 6, 2013 I think several of the latest posts show the reason for the existence of monasteries and monks. These things didn't just arbitrarily develop over the centuries lol. The fact that sex hinders spiritual development is why the celibate path is seen as the most efficacious route towards enlightenment. Is this to say that as a householder you can't make progress? no. But if the monastic life generally allows one to go further and faster, which is why it exists. From personal experience the results from celibacy and meditation are much more profound, and its not only the conservation of jing and qi that makes a difference, but also the mind is freed up from all of the additional distractions as well. Yea that's where I was going with that. You were of that opinion in the first place, and simply proselytized your own opinion lol, which is what most people do.. I don't know if its unpopular at all, actually it was my opinion that the other point of view was generally less popular. I don't think people enjoy thinking they can be affected by others to such a degree. Proselytized? Where? I simply thanked Jetsun for sharing a view from one of the most profound energy healers he has ever been around and found it valuable (for me) and I guess you took offense because it is a different view point from your own. I thought the taobums discussion board was here for us so we could discuss different view points. I guess if I thanked you for sharing info because I found it helpfull with a particular view point this would be proselytizing also? 'Draining' one day, 'replenishment' the next... isn't that the tao of life? Nothing to worry about really. People get spooked (from misinformation) only due to too much unnecessary analysis. Women look to see how other women are doing their hair, or plucking their eyebrows, etc. Women look at men appraisingly too, the way women look at people in magazines. A womans attention is not a simple thing, not to be easily demoted. I got slightly distracted in pilates class last week, from looking at my teachers upper lip. She has a perfect cupids bow, but never colours her lips. I was looking at her mouth and thinking she looked a lot like edith piaf, but was not at all a little sparrow. If they never face the desire for sex, or feelings.....then how can they defeat them? How can they release their lusts or passions? their wants for control or survival? hwo acan they release these feeling and thoughts, if they never somewhat dig them up? there can also be resentments there.. people do well having life experiences, triggers....things that catch the eye and stur the pot. Repression?? It's a subconcious time bomb...I really see no power in it. I see a false ceiling one can no longer rise above. a Plateu. And a man in a cage....No freedom in that. Is it just beginning to feel what you are really feeling as your energy level gets to the point for you to really start feeling it, and then distracting yourself from that by releasing that energy? Or is it when your energy level rises and you begin to feel what you really feel but then sitting with it and allowing yourself to feel it until you get to the bottom of it no matter how uncomfortable it may be? Ok so what I'd really do is what I do these days anytime I find myself reacting to something no matter what it is, and stop and ask myself why I feel that way, as opposed to simply reacting. I'd go and meditate and see where and why I have this particular craving or desire. Just about every time what I thought it was at first dissolves into some facet of ego, and once I see through it as just a manifestation of ego then it dissipates.
