Zodd Posted June 19, 2009 I get the feeling I am generally off-balance towards the Yin principle. What are some ways of directly approaching this? What I mean is; how can I bring more yang into my life? Right now I'm trying to deal with it, mainly, by getting more exercise. Sometimes, while jogging, I get a feeling for, what I believe is, the yang principle. An extroverted, active, positive, vibe. After sensing it, I see how much my life is lacking and wanting it. Â Also, on a related note, I sometimes feel that these two principles are very disharmonious in me. I see them as separate, and in conflict with one another. Like two armies, standing for opposite causes, clashing. It's unsettling because it makes me feel like I have to pick a side. Â My understanding of Yin/Yang is murky at best. I may be thinking of this the wrong way. Any insights on this would be appreciated.

While investigating something the mind or something you sense or feel about inside you are attempting to use a theory which is a great way to start to deal with things. Â For a better understanding of Yin and Yang ideal or Yin Yang theory's I direct you to Taoism / TaoBums FAQ compiled and compliments of Stig through this link you can easily find a bunch of talk about Yin and Yang. Â Hope all goes well. I'm sure this website will direct you to discussions of Yin and Yang that could help your investigation. Â P.S. you should understand that nothing can be completely seperate from Yin and Yang. When there is extreme yin there is a little germ or part still Yang. The same goes the other way around. That is what Spirit Ape was talking about. Â Please feel free to ask me any other questions. I also hope that me directing you to other resources it does not look as if I'm attempting not to offer whatever knowledge I have that may be of help to you. Zodd Posted June 19, 2009 Being still and listening seems like a passive yin approach. The only time I get restful silence, these days, is when I am in motion. At the same time, I have an aversion to being active. I'm a lazy person. I like to dream, but I've been doing too little for too long. Â I do like your advice though. It reminds me of something, someone said: that to balance you focus on the center not on the counterweight point. Â Thank you for the kind replies.

It sounds like maybe you are talking more about your personality traits rather than an actual energetic imbalance... Â Anyway, if you are the experimental type and are interested and able to try this exercise, you can try facing the direction of the sun early in the mornings, just after sunrise within an hour or two or so. Breath relaxed and deep and softly through the nose using deep abdominal breathing and imagine you are absorbing the sun's energy down to your lower abdomen as you breath in. You only need to do this exercise for a few minutes each morning. It is probably better if you can do this outside, but you can try doing it facing a window as well, if possible. You can still do the exercise even if it is cloudy. This is supposed to be one way to absorb more yang energy. Does it really work? I don't know. I have tried it for a period of a few months and did not notice that much difference, but I used to do it while driving to work towards the east in the car. I did notice some increase in overall energy though sometimes. Maybe if I did this exercise outside I would have noticed better results. Don't know. Just throwing a thought your way. If you are talking more about personality traits then what I have described might not be of much help. Again, don't know. Just thinking in your general direction... Â Best wishes from Iskote...
