TCM Question

Recommended Posts

I understand what constant cold hands and feet in standard western medicine means (clogged capillaries, poor circulation, etc). However...I'm wondering what TCM has to say about the phenomenon? Since I've begun meditating I particularly notice the coldness in my hands and feet unless outside in the blistering summer heat.

Sometimes it even feels as if the meditation is making my hands and especially my feet feel even colder. Although I suppose that could just be due to me paying attention to it more and thus it just seems as if it's colder than usual.

Can anyone explain what it might mean TCM-wise? What does coldness in body parts in general mean?

Most commonly, blood deficiency, usually in women (even more so if they are vegetarian). There are lots of common women's herbs and formulas that "harmonize blood" - both tonify (build) and circulate. Tang kuai (sp?) is probably the single most popular herb along that line. Go into any asian herb store, or any dr of ch.medicine, and they'd have solutions. There's any number of balanced formulas to choose from.
