contrivedname! Posted September 9, 2009 One board I'm aware of has rotating moderators, everyone with a minimum number of posts who would like to help moderate has a three month period, the outgoing mods choose the next ones, with a group of three in the seats at any given time. This helps to avoid situations where people get tired of it or get busy with their lives or want to travel or whatever feeling bad for not pulling their weight, and prevents the possibility of power corrupting any individual members. It works well, and gives all active members a chance to contribute at some point unless they are extreme troublemakers and never get voted in by outgoing mods. Main benefit to mods with this system is they get time off from the responsibilities. Â the problem i could see with this, while rotation would be a good idea if moderators are absolutely necessary (which i dont really know, but i still like hyok's idea) i think it could be problematic to have the previous moderators pick the new because then people could just pick their like-minded friends. Â Well it's worked well on this other board for a few years, at least 3. There's enough variation of preferences between people in a group of three that they all really do gradually go through all the names on the list of members wanting to help. Yoda Posted September 9, 2009 Hey y'all... I'm back from my vacation! Â TTBs almost never needs moderation but I'm sure it'll be nice to have a few members with delete powers for the occasional overly aggressive remark. I don't think it matters overly much who takes that on as long as they are halfway sane. Â Yoda

Stigweard Posted September 10, 2009 Hang on to your hats folks ... if you have your own Practice Page you automatically go in there as a Moderator because you are in fact the moderator of your own section. Â That's as far as it goes lol

thelerner Posted September 10, 2009 My short list would be Trunk, Stigweard, Yoda, Mal .. Â They've all shown they can look at conflict without getting emotionally tangled in it. I think they're all basically lasez faire types who'd only step in when the going gets nasty. When it does it helps that they're a few of them to back each other up. Â I know some of the boards more 'colorful' members have given Sean a hard time and tested his tolerance beyond the limits. Â Â
Stigweard Posted September 17, 2009 It would seem that at present there is need for follow through on this proposed course of action. Â Sean?
Pero Posted September 17, 2009 It would seem that at present there is need for follow through on this proposed course of action. Â Sean? Â Well, it's not like there was actually a vote possible or something... Have you emailed Sean? Because that's what he asked. (also because he don't come here much no more hehe) Â If you are interested please email me at [email protected] if you are interested, with a link to your TTB profile (top left) and I'll explain further. Desert Eagle Posted September 18, 2009 can a moderator also edit a thread in the personal practice section or is that limited to the admin only?

Mal Posted September 24, 2009 Just to keep everyone up to date some of us were fortunate enough to receive a nice little message from our benevolent overlord Sean. >>> Hey y'all, Â This is Sean from The Tao Bums. Just winging this email to the new moderation group I've finally assembled. Â Here's the gang: Â Trunk - For thorough awesomeness Stigweard - Ethical sobriety, attention to detail VCraigP - Broad, grounded perspective from being in this community for so long SereneBlue - Sincerity and much needed yin balance / perspective Mal - Tech support and all around humble benevolence <<< We will all be trying very hard to ensure our moderation presence is hardly noticed. So please let us know if you think we overstep in any way. Â The Moderation Team / The Mod Squad (we don't even have a name yet )

sean Posted September 25, 2009 I really really deeply appreciate everyone who came forward and offered their assistance. I have not had the opportunity to write everyone back yet who did so, but please know that I really do appreciate it. Â This feels like a good, well-rounded team to me. Â Here's to many more years of TTB being a supportive environment for some of the weirdest discussions on the Internet. Salud! Â Sean
