NeiChuan Posted December 11, 2009 Often I pay no mind to my brother or anything when im practicing.. He respects my time too train which is nice. Â But often if im in a stance which I'd like to go at with my legs not worn out already.. I'll have someone bother me, not only that even if I say I'll be right out they dont go away.. For things I fully explain in basically less then a minute. Â I had helped my dad and he had mentioned my back doctor (Which hes told me to quit numerous times because he can't pay him.. Even though its free treatment.) saying I wasen't supposed to be exercising.. Which he haden't said, he was just covering himself. Â I understand a mistake.. or someone not knowing me. But when im trying to find some peace in what im doing with what little time I have to practice, its insulted, and not respected. Its hard to hold my temper at times. Â Theres really no way I've tried reasoning with them can work, and its starting to cost. Â How've some of you dealt with this? If so.

Old Man Contradiction Posted December 11, 2009 Go for a jog to the nearest outdoor open space and train there. I do this on occasion when I don't feel like training in the kitchen, which is the only decent space to train in my house.
NeiChuan Posted December 11, 2009 I use the kitchen to actually.. Lol   Also I'll try jogging
Ninpo-me-this-ninjutsu-me-that Posted December 11, 2009 I've got a great idea Neichuan! Â When your in horse stance make sure your back is to your bedroom door, this way when they try to come in to disturb you, the door constantly hitting you in the back will train you to maintain your balance and further strengthen you! Â If they start getting verbal then simply train your mind to cut out these extraneous sounds. Unless they say "dinnertime!", 'cos you'll miss that one day when you move out(trust me). Â It's not perfect I know. Â ps. I did consider suggesting electrifying the door knob but that may be a bit extreme.

Sloppy Zhang Posted December 12, 2009 I think there was a story somewhere around here in an old thread, but the jist of it is this- Â This guy was trying to meditate and all these people were making noise, so he went up a mountain, and they were still making noise. He went up to the very very top but the noise still reached him. He got super pissed off. Then he realized the noise was just being noise, the loud people were just being loud people, and learned to cultivate no matter where he was. Â The people bothering you are just doing their thing, don't judge and get pissed off. Â And interesting thing though is that I also get people coming around and "bugging" me when I'm doing some energy work. Maybe they are attracted to our intense energy
DaoChild Posted December 12, 2009 It's really hard to meditate in the midst of disturbance -- however, if you meditate in a perfectly quiet environment, what happens when you try to apply the fruits of your efforts in a noisy area? Â Attain deliverance in the midst of the chaos, and you will be able to apply it anywhere. Definitely not easy -- and family always find a way to irritate you. Good luck
Aetherous Posted December 12, 2009 I think the best thing to do when you're feeling agitated is some intense physical activity...like punching a bag a lot, stomping around, yelling into a pillow a lot, hissing through your gritted teeth, tensing your muscles. These things help to process the anger. Â Ultimately, you have to deal with your family and people disturbing your peace...such is life, man! They will keep you grounded, and on the right path...and actually you are progressing fastest spiritually when you're in uncomfortable situations. Much faster than if you were in "peace", and letting all of your demons stay hidden.

The only problem is when im training its something they think i need to stop my training and come see them for, and they wont let up.
Ninpo-me-this-ninjutsu-me-that Posted December 12, 2009 I think I've cracked it Neichuan! Â Â All the advice you've received is really good I think. Â But I've thought about it trying to find an almost fool proof one, and by God man, I think I may just have done it! Â Here it is with a couple of variations: Â When you're in your room practicing and suddenly one of your parents knocks on the door disturbing you, simply shout this at the top of your voice in an irritated tone "Do you mind! I'm trying to masturbate!!!!".... I don't think they'll bother you again Neichuan! If you can handle the embarrassment after it's a real winner! Â Alternatively if they are used to just barging in you have two options, 1. put a porn on at top volume, they will assume your masturbating, and no parent wants to see their offspring masturbate, I'm fairly confident of that. There is a problem though with blue balls but just don't focus on the porn, tune it out in your mind. Â 2. Actually masturbate; when your pretty sure they are gonna come to your room at a certain time assume the position in all your glory and get to it, when they open the door and are confronted with one of the new seven wonders of the world just smile, give a wink and a salute(with your free hand of course). They will never bother you again!!! Â Â Ps. What sloppy Zhang said is true, people do start to come out of the woodwork when you cultivate, maybe attracted to the energy. I get it all the time with the phone, drives me crazy, thank God for the off switch.
