Ninpo-me-this-ninjutsu-me-that Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) As far as I understand it, the winter solstice is something of a 'Daoist Christmas', ya I know it can't really be compared like that, but you know what I mean. Anyone know how it was 'celebrated' within Daoist circles. I understand there were some ways.... anyone care to elaborate? Laotzu didn't come down my Chimney last night and leave me any pressies, I assume he was practicing wuwei Happy solstice to all Edit: where's Yoda, he might have an idea, Yoda, what does man tak sin do on winter solstice? soaring crane Posted December 22, 2009 Yesssss....the new sun was born today, Happy Birthday! , or maybe is more appropriate The Chinese calendar is based around the winter solstice, though I forget the exact method. And certainly it's a major Taoist festival, that's where I got the Birthday idea. But I don't know much more about it. Taomeow would know for sure. The days only get longer from here on out, yippeeee.... till Summer Solstice anyway... This is close to what it looked like behind my house today: Beautiful
