3bob Posted January 1, 2010 Hi Marblehead, Nice quotes, thanks for sharing (I mostly tend to change "nothing" into no-thing when reading this type of material. Do you know the Chinese breakdown/roots to their variations of their ideogram for nothing? For instance like a breakdown of latin words which I also know almost nothing about...) Happy New Year, 3bob
Marblehead Posted January 1, 2010 Thanks Bob. No. First, I don't know the chinese language so I am totally dependant on the translations of others. I put this thing together a long time ago and have since read a number of additional translations of both the TTC and Chuang Tzu so I am sure there would be modifications if I were to do this all over again. I do agree with what you suggested in that there are probably betters words that might have been used in the translations but I resisted the temptation to change any of the words in order to remain honest to the translators. I agree with you regarding the word 'nothing'. In my mind it usually reads 'no-thing' or 'potential'. I actually prefer 'potential' because no limits have yet been placed on 'it'. Peace & Love!
