I recall reading a taoist text that talked about how some people need the energetic practices to prepare and others do not. From what I have now seen in others and experienced myself, this is true. And it is about consciousness more than the Southern school of complete reality taoism would let onto. However, both Nothern and Southern schools are valid paths...
