Aria Posted February 25, 2010 Hopefully he will be back, unfortunately he got a bit overexcited and we had to give him a few days "time out" Since he can jump to conclusions perhaps he thinks he got banned Yeah, I dropped by his blog and he thinks he is banned. We'll see if he comes by again. He is also a huge advocate of meditating full lotus too. I meditate full lotus, and thats how I found this site because I was googling full lotus. It helps me have better posture and focus better. But lately I've been practicing dreaming. I reall like your enthusiasm in learning, lol, we are similar in that way. I dive into learning especially when I love something.

I reall like your enthusiasm in learning, lol, we are similar in that way. I dive into learning especially when I love something. Funny the only reason I'm reading and responding to this is because I had this intense dream that woke me early. My mom said, "Why are you up?" I said: "I had a bad dream.... well I didn't feel bad but bad things happened." Essentially I was on this boat with this mafioso dude and it's kind of complicated but the two of us were part of a big secret. Then for some reason he went to the back of the boat with several other people and they all got killed. It was disturbing to dream of so many deaths by gun shot. I was trying to think what caused it. O.K. it must have been this documentary I watched a week ago or so called the Soviet Story since I had thought of it yesterday. I never finished watching this as the download I had kept jamming up but there should be some decent downloads out there -- this is a really powerful expose on the Soviet deaths -- as bad as Nazi Germany or Mao or CIA genocides: O.K. I read through this thread now -- Maykea PM'd me and then I searched my name to get to this thread since she said I had been recommended. Maykea you're very lucky to live in Minnesota because you can take classes from qigong master Chunyi Lin who is truly astounding. Watch this Channel 9 news story on Chunyi Lin And then go to http://springforestqigong.com to sign up for classes -- it's through Normandale Community College but the class locations vary. I have not taken a class since 2005 or so -- but there's also meditation retreats as some of the classes too. Edited February 25, 2010 by drewhempel

3bob Posted February 25, 2010 I quit reading Drew's posts (who sometimes comes across as well educated and informed on certain matters) after hearing him rant on about and proclaim his twisted and sick obsessions and abilities related to sex and black-magic like manipulations, regardless of any "full-lotus" co-opting B.S.! (and I don't know much about how others around here feel but to me such goes far beyond ocassional adult jokes and or goofy posts on sex) Anyway and apparently sick sex posts are seldom moderated around here because (?) of some kind of pretense related to quasi-sophisticated, brains falling out the head spectrum of views related to Taoism held by this organization and some of it's members? Thus if you guys want to moderate me for being a party pooper - no big deal - no big loss - I know that what can be garbage to one person can be a treasure to another, and if sick sex posts are entertaining and instructional to the balance of the members and moderators here then I won't be around long even if there are some fine people that do drop by here. Makyea Posted February 25, 2010 Does anyone have anymore suggestions for exercises? Light ones or even more challenging ones?
Creation Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) Does anyone have anymore suggestions for exercises? Light ones or even more challenging ones? Well, if money is an issue you can't just go buying all the books and DVDs and attending all the seminars you can find. OTOH, even if you could you don't want to get bogged down trying to do too many things at once (like others have mentioned). These are both things that I struggle with, by the way. I don't feel like I am qualified to tell you what you should practice, but if you already can feel inside yourself you would have quite a running start on the Dissolving meditation that Sloppy Zhang recommended, which I am a big fan of. B.K. Frantzis' books Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body and The Tao of Letting Go both discuss it, the former being more physically oriented and the latter more emotionally oriented. You can probably browse them on google books, and here is an article that describes the process: http://www.energyarts.com/Articles/Bruce-s-Articles/Release-To-Freedom-The-Dissolving-Process-of-the-Taoist-Water-Method.html Now, as far as great info for free, there is a internet talk show Secrets of Qigong Masters that has interviewed sever prominent teachers of the Daoist arts in the West, so you might be interested to listen to them and see if anyone resonates with you and then look into them more. There is some really great stuff in these interviews (links are to mp3 files) B. K. Frantzis: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/06/23/interview-with-bruce-kumar-frantzis.mp3?localembed=download Jerry Allan Johnson: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/11/24/interview-with-dr-jerry-allan-johnson.mp3?localembed=download Michael Winn: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/04/07/interview-with-michael-winn.mp3?localembed=download Ken Cohen: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/03/17/interview-with-jim-macritchie-the-founder-of-the-n.mp3?localembed=download [EDIT: Here's another, if you are able to understand heavy accents] Mantak Chia: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/08/04/interview-with-mantak-chia.mp3?localembed=download Since someone mentioned Chunyi Lin (who I don't consider to be Taoist per say but have great respect for), here is the interview with him: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/qigongmasters/2009/09/29/interview-with-chunyi-lin.mp3?localembed=download Good luck! Anyway, and in a way I can appreciate what to me was your light-hearted shunt of "ROFL", since it is a free website - although and obviously our world of mankind is not free of the sick sexual manipulation that is sometimes pawned off as sophistication and or as mystical practices of Taoism or what may happen in other religions; further, if pointing out "insults" such as these which are taking place in our world in general and sometimes even in "spiritual" communities, (whether website or not) are frowned upon and seen as "politically incorrect" then I think it reveals just how much the ways of the gentle, strong and pure Tao are covered over with the ways of this world - Om Edited February 25, 2010 by 3bob
voidisyinyang Posted February 25, 2010 Wow Maykea brought Drew back =0 lol. Interesting dream. Here's the Soviet Story documentary -- 2008 groundbreaking about the 20 million killed in the Soviet Union -- 7 million in the Ukraine starved to death in one year. http://watch-movies.ro/index.php?m=movie&g=the_soviet_story_%282008%29 Anyway Makyea -- I always recommend getting the Level 1 sitting meditation c.d. -- just scroll down on this: http://www.springforestqigong.com/instructional_tools.htm Or you can try for free downloads online.... But that's the foundation for the practice and you just need to sit in a chair -- The beginning book describing what happens with the practice is a free read online: http://www.scribd.com/doc/2672168/Mantak-Chia-Awaken-Healing-Energy-through-the-Tao
Aetherous Posted February 25, 2010 Makyea, Here is another thing you can consider, called Primordial Qigong. It is 19 bucks through paypal, and you get an ebook to download. Takes about 25 minutes to practice once you learn it. http://www.cultivatechi.com/products/index.html Peace!
voidisyinyang Posted February 25, 2010 Try this guy http://springforestqigong.com -- Chunyi Lin went 49 days without food, water or sleep, while he sat in full lotus in a cave in China -- He did it through this place http://qigongmaster.com So you can transcend death -- I went 8 days on half glass of water and I was never hungry, nor thirsty and I increased my electromagnetic energy so that by the end of the time I was seeing dead spirits, had telepathy, telekinesis, precognition, and strong healing abilities. It freaked people out big time though since I was exorcising their ghosts. haha.

Takes about 25 minutes to practice once you learn it. http://www.cultivatechi.com/products/index.html Peace! Hey thanks for the link Scotty. I learned Winn's version of Primordial Qigong, who learned it from Rubbo's same teacher, Zhu Hui. I went ahead and purchased the ebook, and from what I can tell they are almost identical (the differences being very subtle). Your posting was synchronistic as I was just thinking about the form. I am excited about hearing Rubbo's take and learning more theory. I would however recommend trying to learn it in person or at least on video. I think it might be difficult to learn from a book. Aetherous Posted February 26, 2010 Hey Ryan, you're welcome! I agree...it would be nice to have a video of Rubbo's full form, or especially to learn it in a seminar. But for someone who doesn't have money, the ebook works if they are motivated. I saw Winn's version, and it's the same basic thing, but in my opinion Rubbo's is more accurate. There are lots of details to pay attention to in Rubbo's, but both versions of the practice basically do the same thing I think. Here is a portion of Winn's for those who haven't seen it... voidisyinyang Posted February 26, 2010 Does anyone have anymore suggestions for exercises? Light ones or even more challenging ones? But here's my problem. Apart from some Kunlun and Spring Forest, I don't know no complicated Taiji or Chikung. I don't think I can get some really hard forms lol. Is this form easy to learn - let's say I get the video? And, you dont see any issues doing it with Kunlun? I am trying to do the standing forms, golden flower and kunlun 1 these days. You dont see any issues combining this form with them? Thank you!

~jK~ Posted February 26, 2010 Wow, so much information! It is so much and so little at the same time. It is interesting to see that you have defined us, best, in your beginning sentence and the ending sentence. Welcome, Makyea. We study philosophy, exercises and mental cultivation from the Chinese perspective. The philosophy is like the history of China - it is long and deep in thought. The exercises will help you make friends and keep a healthy body. The internal (mental) cultivation is about meditation. Meditation helps you to have a clear, healthy, mind. My favorite book that covers aspects of this is "The Five Tibetans" It is short, can be found in second hand book shops and still being printed. Here it is online: http://www.amazon.com/Five-Tibetans-Dynamic-Exercises-Personal/dp/0892814500 Here is a description of the book: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Tibetan_Rites My best friend is from Minnesota and looks enough like you to be your brother. Thank you so much, you actually just reminded me of a question I was looking to asking. Can you help me with the three different "versions" of Taoism? In one of the books I read it said that theythere is Philosophical Taoism, Religious Taoism, and Practicing Taoism. The book didn't really go into any more detail than just naming them. I looked into it a bit but I got some mixed answers and was wondering if anyone here had any ideas on it? Well I do have two brothers. What is your friends name?
