Gerard Posted June 6, 2010 Excellent book that describes a long-forgotten era where the author gives a detailed and dazzling portrait of ancient China.
TheSongsofDistantEarth Posted June 6, 2010 I agree Durkhrod, my good man. I just love John Blofeld. He experienced Mystical Taoist and Buddhist China as it was vanishing. I find his earlier autobiography, 'The Wheel of Life' an excellent read, and I reread it every so often to re-visit that amazing world he lived in.
Gerard Posted June 7, 2010 I know, I wish I could have lived that world myself in this lifetime, I propose the PRC and Australia to replace me with a westernised Chinese; that is, I offer him a life in Australia as a Westerner and I would move to China to live as a Wandering Taoist and make a living instructing various Taoist arts.
