Encephalon Posted June 7, 2010 I agree with the biologist Gaus; I think the ethical choice is to euthanize the birds soaked in oil. The argument that it is an ethical mandate to try and save creatures with less than a one percent survival rate is weak. This has more to do with assuaging human guilt and grief (well-founded, of course) than any plausible goal of saving them. They've already suffered so much stress at this point that their immune systems are completely shot. Chi kung practitioners know the truth of this. suninmyeyes Posted June 8, 2010 I too was wandering what would be the best option...Sometimes trying to prolong life in those conditions is actually prolonging torture. This whole affair has left me feeling very sad .But more determined at the same time to do best i can to improve and to keep on moving towards more sustainable lifestyle.Real improvement lies within individual, its our responsability ultimatley.
