mjjbecker Posted August 19, 2010 This was posted on another thread and is really interesting. Thank you to 'Kempomaster' for posting this. For the benefit of others I would like to to post my experience with Stillness-Movemnt, medical Qigong, and Taoist Neuro-energetic healing. First my background, I began martial arts training in 1976. I have had one primary instructor - Will Higgenbotham, Will had the wisdom to expose us to many different incredibly talented individuals. among thos individuals that I had personally trained with - some for many years up to today, include - Master David Gonzalez - received his 7th dan from Master Ed Parker; Professor George Dillman 10th Dan, (late)Professor Remy Presas 10th dan, and one of my favorites - Professor Wally Jay - 10th Dan - The only point I wish to make is I've studied Martial Arts with several top individuals and through this I've learned to respect many of the teachers not only for their physical ability but also for their ability to teach others and show a genuine interest in those trying to learn their art. I can gennerally tell within a instant if i like the teacher and more importantly if they know their material and if their material is worth learning (for me anyway). So i developed my teaching skills patterned after those that I had the highest respect for and that I thought would be most beneficial for any student that wanted to learn from me. The next point on my background is that i've spent the last 21 years as a pharmaceutical rep. Think what you might of the industry - some of us are generally interested in improving patient outcomes and in helping those in need. plus, most of us are like min-pharmacists. by that I mean we have studied every system in the body - nervouse system, digestive system, endocrine sytem - whatever system our medicine is related to. Whatsmore, we are trained in western ideas - including that complementary medicine doesnt work and how to pick apart a scam medicine or a scam study. After 21 years I can pretty well find the weak spot in any marketing or product approach. With all of this in mind I first attended a Stillness-Movement workshop by Michael Lomax in May of 2008. Probably after the 1st day Michael was probably thinking - look out we've got a wild hair on our hands - I was so excited about what I had just learned. Withinn minutes of the workshop beginning I was incredibly comfortable with the teacher - He taught the Qigong class much like I tought my martial arts class - simple easy to understand format and was more than willing to answer any questions. There were no bad questions - please ask.. So michaels teaching style made a great 1st impression on me and then when we started to do Stillness-Movement - wow I could actually feel sensations of the Qi around me- and when we did standing-stillness I thought I was going to be in trouble because I couldn't stand still. It was liking I was being picked up off my feet -- little did I know that Michael was projecting Qi at me during this time. I read another post about the video that Michael posted and some questioning the validity of the video -- I wasn't moving that much, but I was bouncing around a fair amount. By the way - I'm the bald guy standing next to the guy that was video taped and I guarantee we were not paid or unpaid actors, if you notice I was peeking out the corner of my right eye thinking Holy smoke this guy is really moving about. Later in the 1st class Michael had performed some Medical Qigong - wow that was pretty cool but what was even cooler was when I got home after the 1st day my wife had a severe headache and was grumpy -- I got rid of the severe headache (witnessed) with one Qi blast - the grumpy thing we still have to work on. So for the 1st 2 days we did a couple of versions of Stillness - sitting and standing. Plus Michael taught us the Gift of the Tao - movement based Qigong. Now being a Martial Artist - I do 20+ Kata's and teach these Kata's and their meanings to students so i was very interested to see how Michael would teach this portion. He did a terrific job of making the movements easy and would work his way around the room to help anyone that needed personal help. I had to rate Michael up their with Professor Wally Jay - Professor Jay was always extremely helpful in teaching his art (fortunately I was his crash dummy often) but again Michaels teaching approach was more like - old friend let me help you with that. Day three - medical Qigong day -- the words to discuss this are tough - truly amazing is my best description. From My own perspective I've had Plantar Fascitis for years - lot's of pain that nothing has touched, my pain went from a constant rating of 8 out of 10 to about a 2 out of 10 - that was only 1 treatment. So overall, I couldn't have been happier with the money I invested in Michaels' seminar, but, one seminar was't going to be enough for me...please read on. After 2 1/2 years I'm still attending workshops as Michael is teaching a Lineage. I receive something new at each visit and it seems like I'm ready to get the new teaching at that time. Stillness-movement is for me very easy to do - I can dedicate a great deal of time to this. First, I set aside time in am or pm for at least 1 hour of deep meditation. But, since I drive quite a bit, I can do stillness whenever I'm driving or travelling - why not, or when i go to bed at night - I don't sleep much anyway - might as well do stillness, so I end up getting in 5+ hours per day and the benefit of that comes through in my medical use of Qigong. Again, I'm a pharmaceutical rep so I'm in/out of Doctors offices all day. Almost all of the patients I've treated have been either a Medical Doctor, Nurse, or their staff. This is a tough bunch to convince that this stuff will work. However, I estimate that I treat at least 2 people every day, approx 400+ patients since I've started and my success rate is approx 95% or better. I credit this success to Michaels teaching ability, to the techniques contained in the lineage, and to the incredible power of stillness movement. One could say - your salesman you convince them it's going to work. Well I've worked on doc's wearing knee braces, wrist brace, neck brace - all gone after 1 treatment, RN's with diverticulitis, gall bladder issue, Migraine, on and on and still have that success rate. BUT, whats really amazing are the animals that I' ve worked on - mostly dogs. I have had 3 that had severe spinal injuries. My birdgog - x-ray confirmed disk damage w/spiny projections - he was crying and shaking bad - I did Taoist technique which put him into a deep sleep and the next day he was fine and hasnt had an issue since. 2 other dogs had just been injure and both were crying and dragging back legs - Taoist technique returned them both to normal - no further problems (1 witnessed by the Vet that called me and asked me to help) Anyway i can't say enough about stillness-movement or Michael Lomax - Wang Juemin was a National Treasure of china and i belive we have our own Treasure here in the U.S in Michael Lomax. There is probably something he is teaching that you could add to your repretoire. Thanks for reading, kempomaster

Ya Mu Posted August 20, 2010 Pretty awesome. I was happy to hear about his accomplishments too. Wow only 2 years at that. A person can go quite far in 2 years. The ones that don't either are not practicing a real qigong system, do not practice daily, or get distracted by nonsense such as opening the third eye (see my article "3rd eye obsession), wanting to move paper with qi, wanting to set things on fire with qi, desire power for power's sake instead of investing in knowledge of who they really are and finding true compassion, etc. Thankfully this does not describe my students. As you can see from his post, the person who was not distracted and actually practiced has gained really big in Power to be used with compassion for others and has begun to "SEE" quite nicely.
TheWhiteRabbit Posted August 20, 2010 I agree. Before Stillness movement I was fixated on certain phenomena. If I had the chance to go back and redo it beginning with Stillness Movement it would have created much less drama in my life.
Kempomaster Posted August 24, 2010 A quick additional post from Kempomaster... I have continued to work stillness-movement as much as possible on a daily basis. Basically, whenever i realize I am not practicing stillness-movement I begin practicing stillness-movement. The system allows for practice all the time. Oftentime when i am working (Pharm rep) I am moved to do 20 - 30 minutes of stillness before i enter a doctors office. what is really cool is after i have done this i find that someone in the office needs a medical qigong treatment. this brings up the common instances of synchronicity that occur with stillness-movement. Approx 2 months ago I had stopped in a local tennis shop to have a couple of racquets restrung. 1st I noticed the pretty young lady that waited on me (approx the age of my son 26+ or -) and I noticed she had a necklace with some egyptian script on it. next her 9 year old son walked around the corner and he had a huge bruise on his chin, very swollen, causing the chin to be turned slightly sideways. Of course, i told her that I practiced medical qigong and taoist neuro-energetic healing and offered to try to help take the swelling out of her son's chin. We all watched in amazement as the swelling decreased and the color of the bruise changed. I had some excellent Dit da jao with me and applied some of that as well. Mom and youngster were very appreciative, but, she then told me about a more serious problem that her son was having - ulcerative colitis, nausea, diarrhea etc and he was seeing several specialist at Riley Children's Hospital.. I suggested she research medical Qigong and let me know if she would like my help. Well I didnt hear back from her and figured she had forgot about me. Until i was playing tennis this past Thursday and my strings in my racquet suddenly went dead. I figured i had a back-up racquet i could use, but, then my wifes strings in her racquet went dead. I wondered if i was supposed to get back ahold of the young lady and check on her son. So, I took the racquets to be re-strung and you guessed it she was at the store to wait on me. She said she had wanted to call me because her son's problem had gotten much worse - he had been vomitting daily for the last 3 weeks, lots of nausea, and diarrhea plus the doctors wanted to do exploritory surgery if they couldnt control the issues. As luck (yea right) would have it at michaels last workshop we had covered a treatment for nausea. So mom decided she wanted me to treat her son, I started with the nausea treatment and expanded it to open stomach, large intestine, small intestine, gall bladder - all the digestive channels. I gave direct treatment to the affected area, as well as used some taoist neuro-energetic healing to unlock some knots in the gut. Mom reported back that that evening was the 1st night in 3 weeks that her som hadn't thrown-up, plus he felt instant relief following the treatment. I followed-up with an additional treatment on Sunday as they were headed back to Riley Hospital today on monday, this time I did a complete Taoist treatment to the spinal area as well as similar treatment to the previous day. Again the youngster said he felt much better following the treatment. His eyes looked brighter and skin clarity seemed better. I haven't heard what the doc's have had to say yet foolowing their visit to the hospital, we are planning a follow-up later this week. The reports of these synchronicity events keep happening as I increase my stillness-movement practice - it's as if patients are falling out of the sky asking for my help. The stillness has really helped open up my compassion and desire to truly understand whats causing these peoples issues and then trying to help them the best that i can. If you are interested in learning true medical qigong and the taoist neuroenergetic technique I can only encourage to attend one of Michaels workshops and see if your results are similar to mine. Thanks for reading. Kempomaster
april Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) The stillness movement is widespread. Witness JJ Semple's work on Kundalini, which dictates that stillness is the key to control of heart rate and the key factor for initiating the backward-flowing method. Ya Mu Posted August 24, 2010 Really talking about the same thing, I think... Hi April, I think all High Level methods share truths. Otherwise they would be illusions, yes? The Stillness-Movement system is a Chinese neigong system that was taught by Teacher Wang Juemin. Teacher Wang was recognized by his peers as one of the more accomplished qigong/neigong Masters of his time and was indeed a National Treasure. The Teachers he studied with were also recognized as the more accomplished Masters of their time. So this neigong system has quite a bit of history and is it's own thing. Are there similar practices that can help others arrive to the same state? Quite possibly. The sitting practice when practiced alone without the hand-me-down info that is transferred with Awakening Qi Projection could be similar, I don't know. Stillness-Movement is a practice that has many components; sitting (NOT meditation as most define meditation), standing, walking, running, tree negiong, and powerful hospital & clinic utilized treatment based methodology for healing others. For more information you may wish to read A Light Warrior's Guide as listed on www.qigongamerica.com . I suggest you start a new thread about JJ Semple's work and your involvement. I am sure people on this board will find it fascinating.

The synchronicity starts when we assume responsibility and practice our Listening. This happens with most Stillness-Movement students who reach a certain level and can be a pretty wild ride at first but will become normal for you. Congratulations on your achievements. I know Master Wang smiles... As I think mjjbecker's post has been buried partly from my replies, a reminder to anyone from England and Europe who are interested in Stillness-Movement, the email for interest in a workshop is [email protected]
mjjbecker Posted September 8, 2010 Yesterday, the usual fun and games with the public transport. Over crowding, queue jumpers, no respect for any kind of personal space, etc. Typical stuff. While being fully aware, there was no emotional tension (recognising the rudeness but not having the blood pressure rise-genuine 'stillness in motion'). Wandering along with a little 'Dr House' like smile. Maybe a little unnerving for observers-better than the other 'Dr H' though... On a qigong level, how good is Stillness Movement? Hard to say now-ask me again in a few years-but I will say I've not encountered anything better. On a meditative and energetic level it really is quite profound. There is a LOT to be said for pain free releasing of energetic/emotional blockages. Having done the 'dark night of the soul' 'fire' approach, (yes, really) I'll take Stillness Movement every time. Much better than the other kind of 'SM'...well for me anyway.

Part of the "I practice qigong 24/7". It IS quite profound and one of the things our society desperately needs right now. The body/mind/soul is also of the need to naturally work through the energetic blockages we all have; Stillness-Movement does this quite well.

You are going to have to be the judge of that. If you are into a still the body but keep it rigid type of thing then you would have to let go of that in order to do Stillness-Movement. Stillness-Movement is a neigong cultivation method that raises the energy body vibration.

mjjbecker Posted September 14, 2010 Things chaotic at work this week, looks like I'm going to be doing the workload of two people for the next month...Despite the problems, no raised blood pressure over it. Working on getting the qigong state while doing other activities. Did this while walking this morning. Also did some stillness meditation while at work for a few minutes. Very helpful. Tomorrow I'll find a quiet spot over lunchtime and get in some quality time. Gave off a lot of heat as well as getting a feeling of being surrounded by energy tonight while practicing. Lots of people around me with colds at the moment, so I wonder if the body was throwing off some sick qi. Certainly felt better afterwards. Please bear with me if I am a little late in replying to any emails over the next few days. After this week things should hopefully be a bit more settled at work.

Where we can practice our stillness-movement swimming, surfing, and snorkeling. Very good, in my experience. It is a beautiful place. Sunset by the sea there is magical. I'm sold - how about next weekend? The last time I did qigong at the beach I was at Hilton Head in November. Got up early and we had the beach to ourselves. Started doing Gift of the Tao movements, finished up, went into Stillness-Movement for a while then looked up to find quite a crowd of folks standing there watching. Dang, I was on vacation and just wanted to enjoy myself. Which is my main problem with beaches and qigong. There IS something to be said for doing qigong on the ocean shores - lotsa energy.
