Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 Thanks Sean! I got  Personal Service 99 Teaching / Social Service 99 Writing 96  Guess that means my plan to be an English teacher isn't so bad after all! Will take the other one, too.  Persuasive 70 Health Service 63 Outdoors 63 Food Service 58 Clerical 55 Art 37 Administration 34 Systematic 27 Science 19 Assertive 15 Sales 8 Industrial Art
sean Posted May 8, 2006 Did you pay for the full results? I found it worth it. The Kolbe index is a little more esoteric and I think it costs $50 for any results. It has less to do with the content of your career interests, ie: science, art, etc. and more to do with what your job is like in those fields ... like, how you prefer working, to deadlines, or on your own ... do you like to make decisions, or be told what to do, etc. Â Here are my results from the first one: Â Health Service - 96 Writing - 95 Art - 91 Outdoors - 89 Science - 82 Â Where does this strange combination leave me? Fuck if I know. Â [edit]Oh, here were the fields it suggested: Â Performing Arts - 98 Art - 95 Medical and Health Care - 94 Social Services - 92 Funeral Services - 92 Renewable Resource Technology - 91 Architectural Technology, Drafting and Design - 89 Science and Engineering - 86 Communication Arts - 85 Library Science - 85 Agriculture and Animal Science - 81 Â Â Sean
Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 I just paid. Yay. Maybe I'll do the Kolbe one too. But do you know any good Myers-Briggs tests?  Here are my results from the first one:  Health Service - 96 Writing - 95 Art - 91 Outdoors - 89 Science - 82  Where does this strange combination leave me? Fuck if I know. Sean  You should write and draw about Taoism and TCM.
Cameron Posted May 8, 2006 I can see you as an art director or even cutting edge film director(if you wanted) I know your not in love with this country but you could probably express those views and artisitic sensibilities. I think Americans are pretty open to change or different options(even paying top dollar for them, LOL). Â Hell, most of our top actors and artists probably like hangin' in Europe as much if not more than America anyway so it's right up your alley. Â Cam
Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 [edit]Oh, here were the fields it suggested: Â I got Social Services 99 Education 99 Law Enforcement 94 Funeral Services 94 Library Science 92 Social Science 92 Performing Arts 82 Â Interesting, I thought of going into library science before. And I've done performance art and studied social sciences. Law enforcement is about right up there with funeral services but I can see social services or education in there... sean Posted May 8, 2006 You should write and draw about Taoism and TCM. Hahh... well that's what I am loving best about my life at the moment. Â but I can see social services or education in there... Yeah, absolutely. I can picture you running something like an integral trauma center, where you can lecture to the public, help people one on one therapeutically and also train self defense skills ... all of this would obviously include a lot of writing as well, ie: preparing training materials, even writing books, etc. Â I can see you as an art director or even cutting edge film director(if you wanted) I know your not in love with this country but you could probably express those views and artisitic sensibilities. You know, this is really my deepest dream I think. Like one of those, if you could snap your fingers and be whatever you want kind of things ... I think I'd be a cutting edge film director. Â Cam, for you, I see you getting into socially conscious business, investing and philanthropy. And by socially conscious I don't even mean necessarily in an obvious way ... like "organic produce" or something. I mean just remaining conscious of how your business ventures fit in with your highest values and what you are trying to bring into the world with your business skills. I mean, now you are bringing art into the world. That is an amazing thing. And just staying connected with principles like that. I like what Tami Simon of Sounds True says about how money can't be the object, but it can't be ignored. It's the oxygen of a company, it's how it breathes and lives so that it can fulfill it's purpose of (hopefully) bringing particular values into the world. Cameron Posted May 8, 2006 (edited) hehe..sounds good. I keep seeing you walking around the sundance film fesitival in a creative frenzy doing stuff  Cam  ps. Also, have you ever though about Architecture? Here in Scottsdale there is a super contemporary style. Some houses for millions carved out of the side of a mountain. Sedona is also a kind of mecca for artisst and architects. I could see you get into that easily if you wanted. Hell you could probably design crazy lofts for movie stars.  Frank Lloyd Wright art and architecture is big here. Ever see his stuff? Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 Cam, have you been to the Phoenix library? I met a guy on a plane who flew here from the Northeast just to see the building. He was an architect, of course.

Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 Sean, what did you get under educational interests? Â I got 99's for addiction/health counsel, education instructor, teacher's aide, child care worker, music ed, early childhood ed, physical ed, recreation, speech therapy... and high 90's for special ed, social work, justice admin, rehab counseling, funeral/mortuary science, librarian. Â Journalism down at 78 (?!) Â Also I am a social (helper) type, with attentive (server) at a close second, and artistic (creative) is 3rd. My lowest work personalities are realistic (doers), conventional (organizers) and enterprising (persuaders).
Lozen Posted May 8, 2006 Oh yeah, anyone know any good free Myers-Briggs tests?

Lozen Posted May 9, 2006 Maybe Sean and Lozen can team up and create the Taobums Mortuary. Â *Need an urn for your favorite immortal?* Â LOL! Â I had a teacher once who spoke of opening up the cool nursery home. She would call it The Last Resort.
minimoke Posted May 9, 2006 Frank Lloyd Wright art and architecture is big here. Ever see his stuff? Â Wright is one of my inspirations. I almost became an architect. Almost. It was one of those paths that I decidedly didn't take. I live 15 minutes away from Oak Park, Illinois, the mecca of Wrightism. My daughter was born in Oak Park. So many coincidences in life. How does one reconcile coincidences? Is there a purpose or meaning behind daily coincidences? So many questions, so little time. Â Bruce
sean Posted May 9, 2006 Cam, architecture involves a little too much math for me I think, but I've thought about it. Wright was the man, I like his work. Â Sean, what did you get under educational interests? Â I got 99's for addiction/health counsel, education instructor, teacher's aide, child care worker, music ed, early childhood ed, physical ed, recreation, speech therapy... and high 90's for special ed, social work, justice admin, rehab counseling, funeral/mortuary science, librarian. Â Journalism down at 78 (?!) Â Also I am a social (helper) type, with attentive (server) at a close second, and artistic (creative) is 3rd. My lowest work personalities are realistic (doers), conventional (organizers) and enterprising (persuaders). I think those were the ones I posted. I can't see anything else like that in my report. Â This was my score for the workplace fit profile section: Artistic (Creators) - 96 Investigative (Thinkers) - 94 Social (Helpers) - 91 Realistic (Doers) - 70 Attentive (Servers) - 66 Enterprising (Persuaders) - 4 Conventional (Organizers) - 2 Â I can see Journalism being down because I think it's not helpful enough ... you have to stay too objective, whereas I feel like your calling is more hands on ... I'm sure it will involve writing, but not just to report on what is happening. Â PS, there is a free Myers-Briggs test here, under Jung Tests. Â Yoda, I think I would probably be oddly happy in funeral services. Â Sean
Lozen Posted May 9, 2006 There were some Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings at my college back when it was in Waukegan. Now they are setting up to move to Chicago. Â I didn't like that Myers-Briggs test... maybe I can find another one... Â Funeral services?!
sean Posted May 9, 2006 Funeral services?! I mean, it's not my dream job, but I think I would be happy doing it. Anything that puts me around the intense energies of birth and death keeps my interest.
sean Posted May 22, 2006 I just paid. Yay. Maybe I'll do the Kolbe one too. But do you know any good Myers-Briggs tests? You should write and draw about Taoism and TCM. Turns out I knew a Kolbe consultant and he went over my results with me in detail last week! Prompted me to get Lezlie to take the test and we both bought the CD's that give an overview of our types. Clarified a lot! How and why I prefer working the way that I do, useful insights into the differences in Lezlie and I's style of approaching a problem and more. If you got the $50 I would recommend this test, and the CD describing discussing your score is like $18. Â Sean
