Cameron Posted May 18, 2006 Ok, let's stop messing around and have an official recipe thread. I know everyone wants to be special and put there favorite little beverages on there personal cultivation thread but this topic is too important for that.  Here is my favorite blended drink so far..delicious and buzzfull...  8 oz Silk soymilk 1 scoop tonic alchemy 1 oz Tahitian noni juice 1 banana  Blend low 20 seconds. Write post inquiring others favorites.  Cam
Smile Posted May 18, 2006 (edited) 50% spinach 50% mango some raw honey some bee polen little water to help the whole thing to blend The outcome is a yogurt-like desert you eat with a spoon  You can vary spinach with either broccoli or kale to get the other flavors, but spinach seems to complement any fruit the best.  Will be digested in about 1 hour. You will be hungry again in about 30 minutes. Edited May 18, 2006 by Smile
Lozen Posted May 18, 2006 Been doing 1 cup milk, 1 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup strawberries, 6 cashews and 2 tbsp protein powder. Â Or 2 scoops protein powder, 1 cup strawberries, 2/3 cup peaches, 1 tsp crystalline fructose powder (I use a dash of honey instead), 1 cup water, 1.5 tbsp almonds. Adjust protein/fruit ratio as desired. Yum. Â Raw cacao beans and agave nectar sweeten it up. Â 2 ounces protein powder, 1 cup yogurt, 2/3 cup orange juice, a touch of honey or agave nectar. Â I like stealing recipes from the side of those Odwalla and Naked juice bottles and adding protein powder to balance out the fruit sugar... I also have tons of prickly pear juice in my freezer for last summer which is sugary sweet, but still really good for blood sugar stabilization. Â I really want to make Elvis smoothies-- you know, bananas and peanut butter.

Cameron Posted May 18, 2006 ewwww soy milk. Â evil!!!! Â Â You beleive like some people that it lowers testosterone? Mike Mahler says he has been doing Soy for years and his workouts don't suffer. Â I may mix it up with Oat milk. Any problems with that!?
neimad Posted May 18, 2006 it's not that it lowers testosterone, it messes with the hormonal balance by increasing eostrogen. Â in the long term this leads to decrease in bone density as the only way to remove excess eostrogen from the body is by binding it with calcium.... so it steals the calcium from the bones. Â many pepole, like weston price foundation, dr mercola and plenty of others reccomend against soy milk. Â it was never used in traditional asian cultures ever, until recently. it's a modern invention and just another highly processed food. Â oat milk is ok, but again it's a highly processed food..... but as always, do what feels right by you and don't feel like you have to change yourself for my benefit personally i never liked the taste of soy milk and it felt wrong to drink it. i liked rice milk.... but now i drink raw biodynamic buttmilk.... yummy i love the sour taste. Â best is if you can get some raw milk of some kind. there are sources out there, i'm sure. Â yoghourt is ok too, or kefir if you can get a culture to start your own brew. neimad Posted May 18, 2006 (edited) No, you have freaked me out now and I will be doing either water or rice dream for the liquid part. Â *dumps soy milk down sink* Â haha sorry bro, didn't mean to be freaky. Â i have a big problem with soy though.... i see it as the 'matrix' (that global elite who so seek to destroy us) method of dealing with the hippies who generally eat everything else right. i been going to a few alternative festivals lately, and alot of these hippies eat ok, lots of veggies and stuff.... but they all have way too much soy milk and tofu. you don't want to eat meat, is ok.... but soy unfortunately is probably worse than meat health wise. to be a vegetarian have to be very clever about protein intake.... good is to combine 2 of the three: nuts/legumes, grains, dairy... to get the full range of amino acids. Â something i have observed is young females who drink too much soy have pimples on their faces, regardless of how healthy they eat. i believe this is due to the hormonal imbalance. Â soy is the biggest grown crop in the world now and as a part of some scheme, all soy growers are required to donate a certain proportion (i forget the figure) of their profits to the promotion of (false) health benefits. Â i've recently stopped all soy, including miso (except the occassional splash of tamari in a dish.... not more, and frequently less, than once a week). Â p.s. carob flavoured rice dream = yummy! but i haven't drunk that in a long time either. Edited May 18, 2006 by neimad

(i really meant buttermilk. i don't do well with the lactose either, but raw milk is not a problem and buttermilk is even better and easy on the liver). thaddeus Posted May 18, 2006 it's not that it lowers testosterone, it messes with the hormonal balance by increasing eostrogen.  Where did you get this info? This is very interesting..i know a guy in his mid 40s who looks very young and I asked him if he does anything..he said the only thing he can think that's different about him is that he eats soy everyday. So his hair and skin is very youthful looking but he's become pretty docile--no real sex drive and is appearing 'fragile'. There is also indications that eating soy and chile peppers reverses and prevent Male Pattern Baldness..so it must be powerful stuff.. T
Peregrino Posted May 18, 2006 I'm big on blended drinks with spinach too. Here's a really simple one that goes down smoothly:  50% spinach 50% orange juice  I always feel really "cleansed" when I drink this--esp. when I'm stressed from work and don't have time to make a proper salad with raw vegetables. Sometimes I add a little ginseng, but I can't find any right now since my favorite Chinese grocery store just shut down--bummer!
Peregrino Posted May 18, 2006 Peanut Punch  Some Trinidadian friends made this for me, and it's absolutely delicious . . . though I'm not sure it's in keeping with the health-conscious focus of this thread so far. It's a great cocktail and even a great dessert--depending on your preference, you can blend it thick enough that you can eat it with a spoon.  Of course, many variations are possible, including healthy ones. Instead of the incredibly decadent condensed milk, you can use skim milk, coconut milk, or even soy milk (if you don't think it's detrimental) along with some honey. Of course, you can skip the booze too, if you're a tea-totaller or abstainer from strong spirits. Just google "peanut punch" and you'll find lots of variations. Finally, you can use loads of peanuts instead of peanut butter.  So, here goes:    1/2 cup, creamy peanut butter 1/2 cup, sweetened condensed milk 1 teaspoon, vanilla extract 1 teaspoon, Angostura bitters 2 cups white rum (or more milk/soy/etc.) loads of icecubes cinammon and nutmeg, to taste     Combine all ingredients except the cinammon and nutmeg and blend together until the peanut butter is dissolved. Pour into tall glasses, add cinnamon and nutmeg, and serve immediately. (Serves four.)

Peregrino Posted May 18, 2006 Dude! did your 'friends' tell you what this drink is traditionally used for??? hint...natural viagra....alot of caribbean cultures add a seaweed called Irish Moss aka carageenan for an extra boost... Yah Man! T Â Â Ha ha! I'm not surprised--they told me that a concoction made out of Guinness, condensed milk (they love that stuff!) and ice cubes was really good for that kind of "stamina" . . . The first time I tried it (the Guinness concoction) I thought it was disgusting (like robotussin), but another time it was mixed differently (maybe with more condensed milk) and it was actually agreeable, despite the seeming profanation of a good brew with ice! (They put ice in everything there--beer, wine, etc.). Don't know that it gave me extra "stamina," though, as I was living a celibate life at the time . . . in the midst of all those charming, richly hued hotties! Â Now that I have no such lifestlye limitations, I'll have to try blending in the carageenan. There's a kind of alga here in Galicia that the Japanese swear by, and import in massive quantities! I'm not surprised--they told me that a concoction made out of Guinness, condensed milk (they love that stuff!) and ice cubes was really good for that kind of "stamina" . . . Here's another one from Jamaica (btw, Jamaican culture is worth studying for 'stamina'--almost everything they eat is an aphrodisiac).. Put one or two raw eggs in glass of guiness (condensed milk is optional) top with nutmeg and cinnamon... then watch out.. T
Trunk Posted May 18, 2006 (edited) 6oz water (soaked overnight with some Schizandra berries and He Sho Wu) Probably the tastiest ch. herb is lychi berries (pin yin: Gou Qi Zi, latin: Fr.Lycii Chinensis). They are super nourishing, full of all sorts of really good stuff. They're sort of like extra-nourishing red raisans. Â --- later edits --- In Los Angeles Chinatown, they're like $4-$7 / pound, depending on quality. Â .. and, btw, good idea to include soaked-overnight ch.herbs in blend, that I otherwise would not eat raw. * puts some he shou wu in bowl w/ water * Edited May 19, 2006 by Trunk
Cameron Posted May 18, 2006 Dragonherbs sent me a bag of lycium berries that were the bomb! I may do an order it was sort of a free sample they gave. Â Though Sean or Max probably have such things at nearby China Towns. Â Cam
Lozen Posted May 18, 2006 There's lycium in Tucson for like $5 for a huge bag. At Yong Shen Herbs.
thaddeus Posted May 18, 2006 (edited) I'm sure most of you know that the Goji berry that is being bandied about right now is the lycii berry...however i did read some marketing stuff indicating the tibetan lycii had special powers above the chinese version, but i'm skeptical.. thelerner Posted May 19, 2006 Kitchen sink Hummus. Can of drained garbanzo beans(chick peas), couple of carrots, handful of greens, some garlic, tahini, salt, virtually any veggie and blend away(slower speed is better), adding a bit of water or more tahini if too thick.
