Birch Posted December 1, 2010 "rhythmical contraction of a large number of the myofibrils of the skeletal muscles and smooth muscles of the blood vessel walls."  It's the same as qi-gong? It does sound famliar to a thought I'd been having, but qi-gong is:  - slower - builds upon the existing structure  Sort of like the difference between attempting to run 3 miles in one go vs building up slowly? Immortal4life Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) I would say it is the same as Qi in the sensation and feelings it produces. Â The difference is that qi comes more gradually, penetrates deeper, and doesnt disappear as soon as the machine is removed from the skin obviously. Â The movements the machine causes may be more its own thing. Â My main point in posting that is so that no one can say feeling qi is placebo, hypnotism, or all in your mind. Clearly the feelings and sensations the neuro scenar produce are not placebo, and neither is Qi. Edited December 1, 2010 by Immortal4life

Birch Posted December 3, 2010 A thought just sprang to mind. Maybe you're not developing qi at all, just your capacity to be filled by it, to respond to it and to know it? It's always there, all over the place.
Immortal4life Posted December 4, 2010 That is definitely one school of thought. Â Well, developing qi can be defined or quatified in many different ways. Even if we take the universal view of it, you could still say you are developing the strength of its flow, or the strength of its integration and connection to the mind and awareness, if not say increase the actual amount of Qi. Â increasing your capacity to conduct, transmit and store Qi. Â I think this is a better way to express the concept of "developing Qi". Â Of course this goes hand in hand with discernment of different types of Qi. External Qi, Protective Qi. Internal Organ systems Qi. etc etc ad infinitum.
