fiveelementtao Posted January 21, 2011 Ok so um some of you have said you could teach me. Well i am willing to take that advise. So where do we begin? Thanks Hi Mewtwo, I think instead of starting a thread saying "OK, teach me" I would recommend that you decide on one particular path or discipline from those who have elected to teach you. Then message that person and begin from there. Otherwise, you will get a million different responses on this thread from people trying to teach you a million different things and you will get nowhere. IME, it works better if you seek out one particular style and/or teacher and approach them rather than standing on the street corner and saying, "OK.. teach me" If you are not sure which way to go and you do not know of any teachers in your area, then probably a better way to use this thread is to ask people to refer you to teachers and schools that teach online. Then you can investigate the different teachings and pick the one that resonates with you best.. I do not recommend trying to learn from a forum thread. Good luck...
Sahaj Nath Posted January 21, 2011 good on you! i applaud you for having the strength of character to put yourself out there like that, and i really mean it. if your willingness is sincere, you have done the right thing. i may not be the person that you want to begin building this relationship with (and that's fine, so long as you find SOMEBODY), but if you don't find any other takers that suit you, i would be more than happy to offer you my guidance. just send me a PM as fiveelementtao suggested. if you approach my teachings and suggestions with the same vigor and enthusiasm as you have with all of these other things, then i promise you that you will be happy with your progress over the next year. so good luck, and just know that my offer is there for you if you need it.
Gerard Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) Ok so um some of you have said you could teach me. Well i am willing to take that advise. So where do we begin? Thanks Can you afford attending a Vipassana retreat? Not so much because of the money thing (which is free in many instances), but because the time off that will be required. If you are willing to learn online, here's some free info: http://www.durkhrodchogori.com/2009/03/meditation-introduction.html http://www.durkhrodchogori.com/2009/03/meditation-mindful-prostration.html http://www.durkhrodchogori.com/2009/04/meditation-walking.html http://www.durkhrodchogori.com/2009/04/meditation-sitting.html http://www.durkhrodchogori.com/2009/04/meditation-progression.html But honestly a retreat environment would be ideal as there will be less (or none) wordly distractions. Blessings. Edited January 21, 2011 by Gerard
