ralis Posted April 3, 2011 Just when many thought it couldn't get any worse in the world, BP wants to apply it's incompetence to deep water drilling, of all places, in the Gulf of Mexico! Already, 30-40 deep water permits have been issued to other companies. Engineers are considering drilling deeper than previously thought possible. When will humans grow up!! http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x4799318

wingzero Posted May 1, 2011 We should not drill for more oil in the ocean, it will only do more harm to mother earth and the innocent creatures of the ocean.
Marblehead Posted May 2, 2011 And I just read that Shell is seeking permission to do additional drilling in the Arctic. Thing is, as long as there is a demand for oil there will awlays be those who are willing to provide it at no matter what the cost. And this is why I think the development of alternative sources of energy is so important.
joeblast Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) bah, what, never drill for oil again? how farkin realistic is that? What's this fascination with trying to cease all economic growth? points: -bush's execustive order lifting offshore drilling ban. prices went from over 4 a gallon here and over the next bunch of months, with the prospect of US oil on the market, the prices fell drastically. -Obama rescinds order, stiffarms as many energy exploration initiatives as possible, price is now at record high. coincidence? the BP disaster was just a convenience for them to make "energy prices necessarily skyrocket" and Obama's solution? "buy a more fuel efficient car." How compassionate! It'll be nice when we have some leaders who know how to lead and treat people fairly as opposed to making fantastic contortions to reward one's political donors and punish pretty much everyone else.
